Bead Dragon Instructions

I feel this thing is in serious need of an overhaul. In the years since I first put this together, I have tweaked and streamlined and refined my approach entirely, and these steps no longer reflect how I personally make these. But as I already have enough things on the go, redoing this'll just get added to the 'shit I will get around to eventually' pile. So you folks get to deal with this ugly thing until Chimera stops being lazy.

The tutorial says not to use wire for these, but it can be done. Sort of. You have to cut out a bunch of the steps to make it work though.

Lucky Star Paper- Tiny Birds

I just got into making lucky stars and decided to try my hand at making my own paper (as a lot of the designs out there are a bit bright for my taste). This one features tiny birds.

NOTE: The artwork featured in this image is not mine. It has been adapted from a larger image. If you are the artist (or know the artist!) please let me know. I've been using the larger image as my computer wallpaper for ages now and would LOVE to know who to credit!

Thought I'd mock up some quick patterns for my husband to use at work if they decide to do sewing stuffs, and we settled on birds!

I made quite a few of these, and figured I would upload them here for you guys, too, because why not, right?

These are very, very simple patterns and projects. I haven't gotten to test them yet, but logically, they should work If you make a plush off of these, please do let me know, I'm super curious to see what they turn out like!

I would recommend making these out of felt, as it's cheap and very easy to work with. You should also hand sew these - there is very little seam allowance on them, because I had intended on doing a whip stitch around the outside, or a back stitch, but either way, my intention was for the sewing to be visible when completed (because it looks cute that way, IMO). You'll need a bit of batting or polyfill, too, but if you have an old pillow that you can cannibalize, there you go!

You can download these PDF's and print them - they have both the cutting and sewing instructions on them, too.

Cutting Directions
- Cut out pattern
- Cut 2x of horns
- Cut 1x of body out of cream/light brown and 1x of body out of darker brown (for the back)
- Cut 1x of crown and chest

^{I spent hours re-researching and putting this together. It is a chart of all the colors that are in the Thoroughbred genes.

Do not argue with me on any point.
I have done extensive research on Thoroughbred colors and I know my shit about horse color genetics as a whole.
If any one tries to argue, comment privileges will be permanently revoked.

EDIT:
Roan: The Jockey Club, in the US, recognizes roan as a Thoroughbred color. However, all of the registered roan horses have been genetically tested and proven to be grey or rabicano. There has never been a documented and proven case of true roan in the Thoroughbred breed aside from the occurrence in Australia.

Catch A Bird was a brindle chimera. A chimera is a horse that absorbed a twin fetus before birth. This absorption altered CAB's genetic code in a 1/1,000,000 chance and mutated his color genes. This allowed him to throw roan foals. While this proves that roan is possible, though almost impossibly unlikely, roan is technically still not in the Thoroughbred gene pool because the color has only been in one line of horses and has never been produced in any of the millions of Thoroughbreds in the world outside of CAB's lines.

I only argue this out of the scientific and genetic reality. I love the roan colors and wouldn't mind it being a part of Thoroughbreds. However, the reality is that roan just isn't a naturally occurring color in Thoroughbreds without freak mutations. When the CAB line dies out, it is a nearly impossible chance that this exact, incredible mutation will happen again.

Albino: I've seen many people claiming to have seen an albino horse. There have been exactly zero documented occurrences of albino horses. Anyone who thinks they have seen one, has seen a grey, extreme paint, or heavily diluted horse.

Why can't horses be albino? According to experts, horses just don't have the necessary genes to create albinism. Albino is the result of lack of pigment, which would create pale pink skin and pink eyes. The albino gene in all other creatures is recessive, while all "white"-creating genes in horses are dominant.

Vegeta on Dragon Ball 2013

The film is set during the 10-year time period between the defeat of Kid Buu and the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament(like Wrath of the Dragon and Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!). It is said that Trunks and Goten have a major role in the story. Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Vegeta, and Shenron also appear on the promotional arts for the movie. The film will be directed by Masahiro Hosoda and written by Yūsuke Watanabe, with Tadayoshi Yamamuro acting as the lead animation director.[1] It will be the first Dragon Ball movie in 17 years to have a theatrical release,the last being the tenth anniversary movie Dragon Ball: The Path to Power in 1996, which followed the first three Dragon Ball films and the thirteen Dragon Ball Z films.

This movie was first anounced in July 2012, in the 33rd issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump. Early in July, the official website for the magazine had already opened a "D" teaser page with a countdown to a "surprise" on Saturday, July 14, release date of the 33rd issue. On July 14, the countdown site and official websites were changed to show Shenron, disappear, and reveal some minor information of the upcoming film, including the premiere date, staff information and companies involved in the production (Fox International Productions Japan, Shueisha, Fuji TV, Toei Animation, Bandai, Bandai Namco Games, and Bird Studio). The tagline for the movie is The Strongest, Start (最強、始動, Saikyō, Shidō), followed by "Awaited since long by all humanity. Toward an unprecedented excitement" (全人類待望。かつてない興奮へー).[

The official website [link] also announced a comment by Akira Toriyama about the movie printed in Weekly Shōnen Jump #33. The Dragon Ball series creator notes that the adaptation will mark the first time he has been so deeply involved in the production of an anime, in this case as early as the screenwriting stages. Toriyama also says that the film will retain the atmosphere of the original while adding small amounts of "modern flavor."

4 Calling Birds

There is some historical debate over whether these are supposed to be "calling" birds -- as in birds singing -- or "collie" birds, "collie" in this case referring not to the dog breed but to coal (from the same root as "collier", meaning "coal miner") and thus just another term for blackbirds. So I covered all bases and provided four blackbirds singing.

Four Empires Map Final

For reference only, these are the territories and locations for the Four Empires period.

Atlantis: Noted by the Aqua Green, fabled empire Atlantis fittingly dominated the Atlantic and most coastal regions thereof. They frequently battled Hyperborea for control of the Mediterranian and the C'thunic gates that were a cause of great turmoil but also presented unfathomable resources. It was ruled by a council of enigma sensitives called the Olympic Patheon which gave rise to many of the Greek and Roman myths concerning the 'gods of Olympus'. They specialized in genetic engineering via technology left behind by an unknown and ancient alien race. Generally speaking they were more accepting of monsters, kaiju and other such races at that time. Many have tried to find Atlantis but the landmass that was once Atlantis is no more, merely tiny islands and the occasional odd piece of rubble on the ocean floor. What is left of Atlantis now are the kaiju that once defended it.

Hyperborea: Represented in Blue, the legendary realm of Hyperborea dominated most of the frigid north and much of the Arctic Circle and it's coresponding ocean. They were ruled by a rival group of engima sensitives known as the Titanomachy which gave rise to the legends of the titans and their war with the gods of Olypmus. Hyperborea was generally more dour and stubborn in temperment, focusing on fortification in high mountainous regions where their rivals had difficulty reaching them. They were known for fielding titanic golems and other constructs made from animated stone and later metal. The process of doing this was like with the Atlantians, something discovered and left behind by unknown and highly intelligent beings; reverse engineered over time. They shared borders with many of their rivals and thus made alliances on occasion with Muu and Lemuria in opposition to Atlantis. What remains of Hyperborea now are ruins and much of it unrecognizable save for few locations like the one that loosed Tamotahn and Hydra into the world. The legacy of Hyperborea however is deeply rooted in the mythology of the Greeks and Romans whose own ruins and artifacts can still be seen today.

Lemuria: Shown as Yellow, Lemuria was the major power in the Indian Ocean and in contrast to Atlantis and Hyperborea was a mostly neutral spectator more interested in spiritual developement. They were a purely organic society and their territory thrived where their creations could grow. Much of their territory was a tropical paradise grown to suit their needs, it's reach literally branching out. The origin of Lemurias organic technology is as mysterious as the other empires but it is said to have origins in ancient Hindu Myth and the mysterious Deva. This same technology allowed them great feats of restraint and sealing of various monsters of great power. It managed to hold onto it's neutrality through careful and passive relationships with it's neighbors. While they did not have as many kaiju to defend their empire, those they did possess were treated well and were quite formidable. Their primary rival being the ever ambitious Muu but only when it came to trade routes as neither wished to make themselves more susceptable to their neighbors attentions through open warfare. Much of Lemuria's struggles were of a covert and philosophical nature. Lemuria in the end allowed itself to wither, like a dying flower it spread itself far and wide and left it's former home to crumble apart beneath the waves.

Muu: Heralded in Purple, Muu was a large but reclusive empire that ruled the Pacific and thus had access to all manner of things that it's rivals did not. While the other empires often grew, created or sculpted their own defenders, Muu specialized in amplifing and upgrading theirs. They were the first to use advanced alloys for both military and civic use which carried over towards their dealings with Hyperborea and Atlantis, playing both sides for it's own gain. They were the most technologically advanced in the traditional sense of the Four Empires and they often concentrated their efforts on wrestling supply lines and trade routes from Lemuria, stealing secrets from Shangri-La and provoking the Calotha with their desire to cultivate exotic substances from the southern jungles. Muu's technological prowess came from a dark and equally mysterious source that to this day is just as unknown to modern understanding. Muu was the most resistant to giving up everything they had and while their mighty empire is no more, who knows what could lurking beneath the ocean's depths. On the surface, only tiny scattered islands remain of the artificial continent.

Shangri-La: Respected in Orange, the dynasty of Shangri-La was even more reculsive than it's ocean dominating peers and quietly held a majority of Asia to itself. Shangri-La quietly sought the mysteries of the universe and life in general in their misty valleys and snow capped mountains. They thrived in relative isolation and were adamant in keeping it that way despite the meddlesome probing of Muu and the tentative exploration of Hyperborea. Lemuria was the only empire Shangri-La had any real contact or relationship with and both agreed to respect the other's space and own journey into self improvement. In contrast to Lemuria however, Shangri-La made no qualms about how it dealt with aggression and such incidents were never recorded because all involved were never heard from again. Shangri-La kept it's secrets close. During the fall Shangri-La did what it does best and disappeared from the pages of history.

Sultanate of Blood: Dyed in Red, the Sultanate held most of the Middle East and southern deserts in a grip of iron. The other empires sought to keep interaction with the nation to a minimum as the Sultanate was ruled by a royal family of sorcerors that were as aggressive with each other as they were with foreign envoys. Embroiled in their own feuds, the Sultanate had no tolerance for interference and was something of an antagonistic buffer between Hyperborea, Atlantis and Lemuria. The harsh region was the original home of the Stymphalin Birds and deployed strange magic and sacrificial rituals that made continued hostilities more trouble than it was worth. The other nations exerting just enough influence to keep the Sultanate's aggressions contained within their own borders. The few times battles have taken place against the Sultanate, reports of nightmarish canine creatures lurking the dunes always come with it. The Sultanate and it's capital 'Iram of the Pillars' was said to have finally fallen to their own hubris, imploding in a damning castarophe that sank their city and people beneath the earth. One should pray that the horrors brought about by the Sultanate never surface.

Calotha: Painted Green, Calotha was an ancient empire that held nearly all of South America and what would later be Mexico in it's grasp. Arguing over both with Muu and Atlantis over both and the resources they held. It's capital was the mythica El Dorado, the city of Gold. The Calotha were the origin of the Inca, Mayan and Aztec people and they worshipped kaiju like gods, making sacrices to them that grew in brutality over time. Little is known about the Calotha but it is hinted that the Crypt Dragons were responsible for their eventual and total decline.

Rahtehk: Sanctified in Tan, Holy Rahtehk was the last hurrah for the Atlantian people after the Four Empires fell. The survivors claiming what was left of their holdings here and making a verdant nation in the then lush Nile Valley. Having abandoned their ancient technology, they took refuge in the presence of a mysterious group of kaiju 'deities' that gave rise to the Eygptian Patheon. It is said this nation was great and powerful for a time until one of the deities went rogue and the entire nation was torn apart in the holy civil war between their living idols. What remains now is very little but it's legacy can be seen today through much of Saudi Arabia and the towering monuments to it's ancient Pharaohs.

Amazonia: The matriarchal queendom of the Amazon people, this small region was a constant thorn in the side of Hyperborea whose prideful and defiant warrior women kept occupation at bay for quite some time. During the war between Atlantis and Hyperborea, Amazonia would become a casualty of Hyperborea's Hero project. It's people and culture passing into legend.

Capitals: Designated a red star, the capitals were the major cities of the various empires and nations. Many legendary lost cities were in fact the central hub and home of their leaders. After the Fall of the Four Empires, all of these cities were lost either to destruction.

Cities: There were quite a few major cities during the War and many myths and epic sagas have been written about them.

Surviving Capitals: Shown with a black star, these major cities were not immediately destroyed after the Fall or were created after it. Many are simply 'lost' and unknown to the ignorant modern world today either by the sands of time burying them or through design.

C'thunic Gates: Labeled with a red circle, these breaches from the Enigma Zone are a source of both great power and great danger, constantly pulsing enigma into the world but also allowing many of it's exotic and fearsome denizens in as well. Enigma Shades being the most common of these invaders, leading many to assume that these places were entrances to the underworld. The largest of them, Tartarus and Hades, were made into prisons to contain both common criminal and lunatic alike. Once mistaken for being Cthonic Gates, the caves get their name from the behemoth so connected to them: the apocalyptic kaiju C'thun. The lunacy caused by the inflation of activity in these caves was the primary cause of the continuing deteoration the Four Empires. Today they for the most part remain sealed and unacessable.

Dilute? Paint? What?
I have received a few inquiries about 100% pure TBs
being diluted or with paint markings. Once and for all,
yes, Thoroughbreds do have these color genes.

Norsire breeds specifically for rare TB colors. They have
produced the world's first buckskin frame overo as well
as the world's first palomino frame overo Thoroughbred.

To answer another question linked to the color inquiry,
Norsire's horses are registered in the JC so these odd
colors are accepted in the Jockey Club.

What do you mean no roan?
There are only a handful of true roan Thoroughbreds in
the world, and they are all the progeny of Catch A Bird.
This Australian Thoroughbred was a chimera, meaning
he absorbed his twin in utero. This absorption mutated
his genetic code, turning him brindle and allowing him to
throw true roan foals. This mutation was a 1/1,000,000
chance and will likely never be repeated again.

One single line does not represent the breed as a whole,
so roan (as of now) does not exist in the Thoroughbred.
Until true roan shows up in TBs outside of the CAB line, it
is not a Thoroughbred color. Thoroughbreds descend from
the Arabian horse, which does not have the roan gene

Questions may be noted to me.

I am very big on equine color genetics, which is why I
have created this chart. I have done a lot of research
and all of my information is correct. Remember, this is
a chart for the Thoroughbred breed. It is not supposed
to represent horses as a whole.

Awww look at the five new babies I made up during my holidays (and some older characters). They were about the only thing I drew, since I didn't draw much at all. Which is also the reason that those sketches are in fact only today's doodles I made in school. I forgot my pen so I had to use felt-tips instead which made for a nice effect. And I hadn't any references handy, well I got one for that secretary bird, but besides that nothing.

Oh and should you be able to make out my notes, those are the names my friend gave them as she was watching me during our maths lesson, they're quite awesome (but german)
