I thought long about this concept but the final idea came to me right as I was going to sleep, a giant dragon skeleton
entwined in massive roots.

But what happened here?
Feel free to think up a backstory behind this place!

A twig snapped underneath my boot,
breaking the awed silence that had befallen me and my companion.

Emerging from the forest, the sight shook me to the core.
You grew up hearing about it, the great beast, its mouth open in its last roar of defiance that was now forever silence.
But nothing could have prepared me for the actual sight...
It stood as a reminder to us all, its shadow looming over the city below never letting the inhabitants forget of the time when our lands were ruled by mighty beasts. Yet we had won.

This thought I had the most trouble comprehending. The sheer size of the monster had to be seen to be believed, it's wingspan alone stretching as long as the cliff face behind it stood tall. How could one human have prevailed over such a beast?

But he had...

One lone man, a traveller to the common eye but deep within his veins, magic ran deep.
The last dragon had no hope, or that is how they tell the story. That the beast, although the oldest and last living dragon to terrorise the skies and lands below was no match for the spirits that bowed before the mage.
He had entombed it in the land that it had once ruled. Not dead just frozen.

I felt a shiver run through me as I looked up at the skull, at the holes that still seemed to hold eyes and a hidden power. Magic in the land had died out along ago.

If the beast was to awaken.... There was no hope.

worst night from months.

_{woah. for 139 comment (3 were spam) only 2 or 3 ppl said that they don't have problems with sleep. the rest don't sleep well at night. is insomnia another disease of civilisation? like obesity and depression? or maybe it's just because young ppl spend a nightime "doing stuff" (mostly browsing Internet..) and that rearranged inner clocks and their organisms think that the right time for sleep is during the day? for example me - I don't find troubles with sleeping at day. but at night... uh.
anyway it's kinda worried that insomnia tires so many young ppl...}

'Lulu' from my manga DIO+

Lulu is a clerk, working in the offices of the limbo.
She is always endeavour to perform her tasks properly, which usually consist of registering the names of the dead.

Because she happens to elaborate on the fate of the sinners too often, and even every now and then gets involved into conversations, she has been denied any type of promotion in her carrier.
Among the other demons she is not very popular because of her gentle way.

But thats why Lulu does not consider it necessary to report her colleagues or superiors of her special talent. Only to her sole friend, Veil, she confessed that she can hear the voices of the beasts, deeply hidden in the lowest levels of Hell.

Inspired by Michelle Hoefener's mermaid paintings

No CGI/No painting. Everything in this picture is derived from a photograph. The mermaid tail was made out of paper mache and each petal was hand glued. The rock was made out of chicken wire, covered in paper mache and placed in a sandbox. 100+ hours in photoshop with over 200 layers and a week of building props. You can see the process on my Facebook

I'll try to make Disney/Pixar characters in young and stylish concepts, some kind of "students", something like the new Pixar's Movie: Monster University.

Milo loves the Computers. He is studying history and archeology and loves to combine their knowledge with new software.
He used to be the typical nerd but now he changed his way of life (thanks to a girl ...) and prefers to "dive" into new adventures.
Also loves video games and one of his favorites is Bioshock! (obviously XD Bioshock and Ecco the Dolphin!)

Greenlandic tupilaks.

They were magic creatures created to kill a specific person. The first were made from parts of animals and children. Non of these have ever been found because they were thrown into the sea to find their victim (They were dangerous to make though, because if the victim had stronger magical powers the tupilak would return and kill it's creator instead)

Later ones were made from wood that had been painted black, and often had parts from real animals or children in them, such as claws, teeth or eyes.

And finally there's the white tupilaks made from bone or stone. They were never meant to hurt anyone, but are simply meant for decoration, or even protection.

I like to think there's a story in here somewhere about the old tupilaks trying to sneak into a town and the new ones trying to keep them out.

Actually something I did to put on my tumblr but tumblr has this thing where they don't accept things that are too cyan and/or saturated, so here's the original version on dA.
Done in watercolour, and the effects are done with AfterEffects and put together with photoshop.
I did something like this before, but I didn't like the way it looked, so I wanted to do another one for my daily sketchbook project .
