Greetings my fellow Photoshop Artist.

Fluffy Fresh Snow

With the major arrival of winter/snow in our city, our backyard was covered in 1.5 feet of the most amazing white sparkling fluffy snow. I took many pictures of it and created several fluffy snow textures for my own use.

face tutorial

I get requests for tutorials on how to translate real people into more stylized but recognizable versions fairly often, so here is a very wordy/slapped together tutorial for how I study faces! Specifically for how I go about breaking up the face into simple shapes and ratios that are easy to carry over into different styles.

I used Chris Pine because I havent drawn him before, and I figured it would make the process more genuine.

EDIT: So this has been up for ages and I didn't think it needed to be said, but apparently some people are confused. This isn't saying "just trace a photo"! The tracings here are meant to show how I break the face up into different shapes. Knowing how to see the face as shapes makes it a lot more accessible and easier to portray in different styles. If you simply trace a photo instead of learning how to draw it on your own, you'll have a very hard time injecting your style and energy into it, and the end result will probably be very stiff and lack expression.

Here's a few other examples of how learning to identify shapes and relationships can help you translate faces into different styles, ranging from semi-realistic to way more stylized. And don't be afraid to stress the unique qualities and variety in individual faces!

Loki Coat Pattern 1

Here it is, the much demanded Avengers Loki coat, after collecting hundreds of high quality photos and studying the blu-ray I can safely say this is as accurate as it gets.

This pattern will print out on a standard A4 page, then you simply cut out the individual pieces and blow them up x4 on a photocopier. This is made for my measurements (Bust-87cm/ Waist-68cm/ Hips-82cm/ Height- 163cm, 5'3) basically an Australian size 8. But it is unisex.
To make it larger you can enlarge it by up to x6 but it will take some altering, like the seam allowances (keep them at 2cm) and the length (the coat should end around the ankles).

This is a fairly complicated costume (especially that deceptive side seam, I discovered it folds back on itself), so I will put up a tutorial as soon as I can. I'm uploading this now just incase anyone feels like they've figured it out and want to give it a go.

I highly recommend everyone make a toile before making a final version.

Other things to note- You will need about 3 or 4 metres of black leather/vinyl and the same for the green lining (I suggest matte velvet).
The trim has a very specific look, as if there were zippers along every edge, so far I have not found anything that resembles this other than metal zips. You can buy zippers by the metre at some fabric stores. At a guess it's going to be about 10-15 metres.

There's also the gold details on the tails and wrapped around the sleeves, on the former it seems light on the latter it's quite rigid. So I'm guessing it's just material mounted on to something for the sleeves.

Speaking of the sleeves, I haven't made a pattern for them because I tend to drape sleeves rather than draft them. Just measure the armhole, the length of your arm and the width at the top and bottom. Nothing to it.
It seems the strips on the sleeves are not completely stitched down, they're just attached at the seams in the movie. That will work but I'd personally recommend stitching them right the way along, it looks better.
The material under those strips is just black cotton, it's the only black area that isn't leather.

Fem Thor Cosplay Guide

orz. I know not of these 'proportions' you speak of.
Wellls, anyways, I want to cosplay to the opening of Thor 2 and also Avengers 2 (SO...LONG...FROM...NOW) soo, I made a Fem Thor cosplay guide for myself with minimal cost. Because I ~~spend way too much money on Avengers merchandise~~ ~~like money~~ don't have any money. I'm actually pretty proud of the Mjolnir design. Not to say it will work. orz.

does not contain vibrance. works better on dark screencaps. duplicate the original cap and set to soft light when necessary. makes gifs and screencaptures brighter with more contrast.

Lady Loki Diadem tutorial one

*Sigh* I finally got this done. The first part of my Lady Loki head pieace: the diadem. Making a tutorial is harder than you'd expect. Like you know it's hard but then you times it by 10. It's my first tutorial so what do you think. I'd like some feed back.

Well hope you find this helpful and remember to link me with what you have done with it. This took me about 2 monthes to make just to let you know. The second part which is about the horns will come next.
