Hard for me to gauge how much time I spent on this. I was getting distracted the whole time I was working on this.

First use of PaintTool SAI, so I decided to try a speedpaint on it to get use to the software interface. I really like their Brush's blending functions, and their "stablity" setting for the brush, which guides how smooth your line is. However, I still prefer drawing lines free hand, since it has that "done-by-human" feel to it. Did just a slight adjustment on the layers in Photoshop though.

Not much... just painting and drawing.

Here's Applejack! She needs more love. I decided to go for a pony with a simple design, because I'm sick and can't focus as well as I'd like. Next up is Fluttershy!

My brushes are from... well, Google and everywhere. Unfortunately I didn't keep my brushes so organized, and I don't have the names of their creators--I just remember I went to Google and used the first two page results that came up, and went from there. Jeez! I'm supposed to be studying for a test tomorrow, and of COURSE the urge to draw hits me when I'm studying. Of course it does. Oh well... I guess I needed a break anyway.

Soooooooooo I decided to draw Applejack. And then I decided to show you guys how much the way I actually draw a pony has changed over the past year. So the first two are older sketches, and the last on on the far right is the newest.

The farthest left was done in March of 2012, the middle one of August of 2012, and the newest is obviously April of 2013. From my own perspective looking at this, I think I've gotten better, but still need to continue practicing. Which is why I now have an awesome anatomy/information/tutorial book on horses. I love that little book. ;_;

Anyway. The new sketch of AJ is gonna be posted up on it's lonesome later, after I eventually scrap this in a few days. So yeah.

Here is the third of the ponies, Applejack. Goodness I had difficulty with the ties in her hair... But the hat was surprisingly easy... Anywho I think she turned out the best so far, mainly because of her smooth finish and the acuracy of the cutie mark. Now I have made my three favourite ponies! Onto the final three! (And spike)

Applejack in her Grand Galloping Gala Dress. It was made in a Princess Doll Maker. Then I did all the extra stuff in Photoshop, by either drawing them or cutting them from a picture of Applejack. I'm not happy with the shoes, I should've gone with a different style, but I didn't wanna have to remake it, so just left it. It still looks good.

Applejack hat! Applejack got lots of love at Fanime, more than any other pony actually. I did not know Applejack fans were so dedicated. Seems the least popular pony in the mane 6 has a dedicated fan base, I will never doubt applejack fans again!

Edit: Seems dA does something to the files when you upload them the colors are looking...meeeh. I checked the file on my computer and it is fine, the files on Etsy are fine, I uploaded the same file again (I saved it again and checked it first) but it still looks weird on dA, no idea what is up. I highly suggest looking at the listing on Etsy here: [link] for the better colors.

Edit Edit: Seems I figured out the problem, dA seems to predefine the color space and converts it to sRGB on it's own even though I was in a different one. It does a very bad job converting so I needed to convert it myself in photoshop to stop mitigate the color distortion. The original images were a different color format since I use RAW photos and do color editing to make sure the colors are as accurate as I can get. Honestly, the fact that dA even does this makes no sense. At least I fixed the colors myself.

Self-descriptive title. Done in a program not really meant for vector-manipulation though. No shading, no shadows, simple, clean, flat coloring.....yet tracing is as time-consuming. Wow. This might be better than surfing the web all day at times when I happen to mysteriously develop a heightened aversion to work. Must be all the forrtl severes mocking my incompetence.
