Ok so, I needed to make some textures for a picture I'm working on and noticed while browsing around, good, flat marble textures are REALLY hard to come by, so I decided instead of filing it away in my textures folder, never to see the light of day again, I'd upload it for other people to use as well.

Terms of Use:
- Free to use in your deviations so long as it is altered and made a part of your picture
- Free to use for prints and other commercial projects so long as it follows the rest of these rules
- NOT to be redistributed or offered on another site as stock.
- A link back in your discription as credit if used
- Please leave me a comment on this deviation if you use to your picture so that I can see :3
- If you wish to create other stock from it that's fine so long as it is significantly altered into something else (like used on a floor for a scenery stock) and not just changed colour and lighting.

MMD Elemental Hair Texture

I've spent the vast majority of today tinkering around with filter processes over sketchy animations in photoshop, this is one of the more interesting turnouts.

The figure & motion are rough, yet it plays semi-smooth after the filter & light processes are done. I'll likely use this kind of stuff for atmospheric light, light over large textures, and to help smooth over the use of opacity tweens.

For characters though, I still intend to use sharper lighting , like [link] , as it is a lot faster when you have a lot of really unique frames to plow through.

I was asked about texture here's a short explanation. Showing how I add texture. Really it'll vary on the effect you wanna get, the colors of your piece, et cetera, but here's an easy version which will work with most drawings.

1.) I pull my scanned texture into my file
2.) I turn it to greyscale. You don't have to do this... but it may alter your colors more if you do not.
3.) I duplicate the layer, because I'm going to use one layer for the darks(multiply) and one for the lights(screen). (you can use just one layer if you want, and you don't have to use multiply or screen... whatever you feel looks best.
4.)I fool around with Levels on both layers. I make the Multiply layer lighter, and I make the Screen layer darker.
5.) I change the fill/opacity setting until I'm happy with the results.... and done.

       ★ Similarly to his pipe, his earrings also hold magical properties - they are made from one of his ancestors bones and in hands of a successor, they can take any form the wielder wishes - sword,spear, shield; The size is not unlimited though - at most a 82 cm diameter round shield and a spear his length.

WIP: Turn off the light

My current project. I think I'll keep regular tabs my progress for the lulz.

Edit 1: worked on the lantern, adjusted Daniel's face a bit, fleshed out the shading on his shirt, added detail to most of the right half of the crate he's hiding behind, did a whole bunch of anti-aliasing and dithering on Mr. Face, added cobwebs, dithered the doorway.

Edit 2: Finished up the texture on the crate, tweaked the highlights on Mr. Face a bit, fleshed out the shading on Daniel's pants, added half-assed highlights around the doorway (to be finished later), partially shaded the shelf, and added stuff on the shelves

Edit 3: developed the lighting around the doorway, shaded the items on the shelves, added rough textures to the walls and shelves themselves, added shadows on the walls and floors, developed Daniel's boots a bit more.

Turn off that lantern, Daniel! Mr. Face is gonna get you!

It's a great series, I really liked the books (Still haven't read Untamed! I'm waiting for a copy of it from my library...should be soon!)
But anyways...yes she has sparkles in her hair - I was playing around and really liked how it came out so I left them in there.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to mention about the lighting. There's obviously light coming from behind her. But there is also a light in front of her too - that's why her face isn't dark (I wanted her face to be bright) So there's two light sources.

Well now here is the explanation:

I always believe that ppl who see ghost, have the "light" so that's why only some can see them.

For me the limbo is total darkness, you can see nothing and when somebody died in a horrible way, they stay in the limbo hoping to live once again. So when they see the "Light" they chase it with everything, that's why they follow you and some are really bad, because the darkness make them desperate and the end they became evil.

Symbols

The candle: I did this as a representation of the ligth.

The human:Representation of the victims of the Light and also from the darkness. The ppl who see ghost are victims too, they didn't choose to have it and like the dead want the life, the human became a vessel who have to fight, so his/her life won't be taken.

Darkness and hands: Are the Limbo and the dead (ghosts), who are lurking in the darkness for the light, when they see it, they want it no matter what and some became evil. The texture I gave to the picture, show their corrupted nature.

The Victorian dress:I did this kind of dress as a way to show the complexity of this relationship and also to show the old nature of this fight for the ones who have the Light of life and the ones who wish it.

And that's all the meaning, actually I really love doing this, took me a while, but I really love how it looked :3
