UPDATE 2011

i get a lot of really nice comments on my two rainbow hair pictures, and i do love reading them all but don't have time to reply to all of them i'm afraid lots of people ask me to put more pictures up of me/my hair or ask if my hair is still the same, i don't have rainbow hair anymore (it was expensive and took agesss) but here are some more pictures! (im sorry they arent very good but i felt bad for never putting any when so many people asked!)

i have short hair now. i really really miss my rainbow hair and one day i might get it back, but i do love my short hair a lot!

i've officially left school forever, and of course my rainbow hair is back! it was a long wait, but im so happy with it. (: i used two boxes of bleach and six colours this time - flamingo pink, violet, lagoon blue, spring green, apricot and turquoise and i think they all look fab.

Orange Leopard

Dye Used:
Special Effects - Napalm Orange
Special Effects - Cherry Bomb
Special Effects - Burgundy Wine

All done myself, this picture was taken a month after dying as you can see by the roots.
My hair is bleached and dyed using Napalm Orange with streaks of Cherry Bomb. The Leopard is an extension that I made where I painted the spots on with a paint brush using Cherry Bomb and Burgundy Wine to accent.
I made an extension so I wouldn't have to part my hair the same everyday or worry about the spots bleeding together when I washed my hair.

I really miss having this style, it's so crazy and impressive. This style actually won the photo of the month contest on haircrazy.info and I was sent a bunch of hair products and dye which I used in my latest style.

Everyone seems to like the rainbow and leopard hair, so I thought maybe you'd all like to see some of the other styles I've done through the years.
I've been dying my hair since I was 10, and I'm 18 now.
The pictures start at the top left [age 14], and go in order to my current rainbow hair style at the bottom.

Most of the pictures I have of my past hair styles are on my desktop that broke down last year and I haven't been able to rescue the hard drive yet, so I'm sorry to say that these aren't ALL the styles I've done. There are many many more that I don't have the pictures for.

The funny thing about this picture, it my hair isn't even freshly done! Haha

- [ here's how I got this look ] -

I went to my most favorite salon, and got the top of my hair bleached out, then toned to about a level 10.

Then we took the rest of my hair, except for about a centimeter around my hair line, and used Loreal's HiColor in Red.

( this is mixed with a 30 volume developer to skip the bleaching process~ )

And finally for the centimeters worth of hair around my hair line and bangs, that was dyed a dark cherry colour to add some definition.
After about 3 washes the red bleeds into the blonde blending the two AMAZINGLY, making a subtle pink tint.
I really recommend going for a permanent colour first, the high lift works perfect for this. Then when your hair has begun to fade out, N'rage's Crimson storm works awesome, and it's a Demi, instead of being a Semi like Manic Panic, Ion, Or Beyond the Zone's Colour Jamz line. ( All of which I have used )

This is me. And my rainbow hair. Yes it is real! And yes, I dyed it myself!

Here's how:
** Bleach hair to pale yellow at the top and light brown or lighter at the bottom first. **
Separate your hair into chunks (I had mine divided into probably about 20 sections).
Doing one section at a time, apply red to the roots.
Next, apply a large section of yellow. Use your fingers to rub upwards into some of the red (will create orange).
After that, apply a large section of blue. Again, use your fingers to rub the blue upwards into the yellow (be careful with this part, blue easily stains and overpowers yellow).
Purple comes next, did the majority of what was left of my strand of hair leaving about an inch or two at the very bottom to apply the pink over. Used my fingers to spread pink up into the purple and purple up into the blue.
Once you're done with the section, wrap it up in foil (this traps the moisture in and keeps the dye wet - dye is most active while wet, so that's what the purpose of this is).

** I left mine in overnight (about 12 hours total). Rinse out under cold water... style as usual, and voila! **

Curled up my rainbow... and forgive my face, please. I was in a rush to get somewhere but really wanted a picture of my hair, just didn't have time to get a *perfect* picture.

Doing one section at a time, apply red to the roots.

It's devouring me! Touched it up last night, mostly the same colors except added a tiny but of 'n Rage Twisted Teal to MP Atomic Turquoise and a bit of 'n Rage Purple Plum to MP Ultra Violet. That was more to help with longevity than desire to change the color. I think some of the colors look unreal this time.

For this I started with 2 month old Special Effects - Deep Purple hair, bleached it out with 1/4th 20 vol and 3/4th 30 vol Kaleidocolors violet bleach + toner but kept some of the ends untouched. The result was pink hair with yellow roots and purple + maroon tips. Over that I dyed the top layer yellow roots down to orange ends, the next layer orange roots to pink ends, then pink roots to red ends, lastly red roots to purple ends.
I guess that's really the best way how to describe how I achieved this. lol it's really not that complicated just a lot of mixing and sectioning involved.

Colors used from top layers to bottom:
Manic Panic - Electric Banana
Special Effects - Napalm mixed with MP yellow
Special Effects - Cupcake Pink mixed with Atomic Pink
Special Effects - Cherry Bomb mixed with Atomic Pink and Manic Panic - Purple Haze

i did this to my friend julie's hair in cosmetology one time. i liked it alot.

how i did it:

i left a 2 inch section going down the middle of her head.
then i clipped the sides out of the way.
then i sprayed the whole middle section and teased it so it stood up nice. then sprayed it again.
i started in the front on one side doing twisties, you could probably do french braids instead but i didn't feel like it.
i used those little black rubberbands to secure the twists in place, and if they stuck out weird or were too loose i just pinned them in with bobbypins.
same on the other side.
i teased the hair that was in the rubberbands so it blended in with the middle section.
then i got some feeze spray and sprayed it up. and teased it more. and i put some wax in there to make it stick together on top into a point. then sprayed it again.
she said it stayed up all day.
and she had to soak it with conditioner and cut the rubberbands out.

This is a pretty confusing color, especially in photos because it always looks different. When the light hits it, it glows pink, but the ends are almost like a fire red, and overall it looks totally orange. I was more than pleased with the results. I think this photo shows it well, but it was very hard to try to capture all the different shades.

All I did was bleach about two or three inches from my roots down about two months after the initial dying of Atomic Fire [link] - it was still extremely vibrant, just a tad more yellow. My roots came out pure white transitioning to yellow then orange, and over everything I dyed it a pink mixture.

Overall, one of my favorite color combos I've ever done. Probably one of the brightest and most unique pink/red/orange.

New hair for the month!

This isn't really what I originally had planned, but I can't get the old teal and purple colors light enough to dye over with anything but cool colors... plus I really wanted to try out MP's new color, Electric Amethyst - which is beautiful (it's the color towards the front, framing my face).

The inspiration for this set of photos was dreams… the place where reason has no home, where your imagination is free, where anything can happen and probably will.

Two songs inspired this… “A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep. In dreams you lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come smiling thru. No matter how your heart is grieving if you keep on believing the dream that you wish will come true” (Cinderella - ‘A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes’). The other song was ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ by Judy Garland.

New Hair

I know, I kinda messed up, but I really wanted to put one of these photos up! So this is my 100th Deviation – it seems kind of missed considering this pic, but I’ll probably put another saucy pin up for my 101

Anyway, new hair, kindly crafted by The Lock Works here in Melbourne, who were all absoultly wonderful, except the frount of my hair has actually turned green, but I haven’t had the time to give them a call about it… eek! Hopefully when I do, they’ll fix it.

Anyway, red at the top fading into black with a black fringe. I know it isn’t a big change, but I really really love it!

Tried something new this time, a dye called Scream, I think it's Rusk brand. I'm not sure honestly. But it's a professional dye, I was able to pick it up at Cosmo Prof with my boyfriend's mom who's a stylist and has her license. So this was all dyed over faded pink with asymmetrical black on the under layer that faded to purple.
Orange with yellow highlights on the top layer, pink in the middle layer, purple on the bottom layer.
Also, I've been cutting my own hair for almost a year now.

Yup, blue. I've had it a few different styles lately but nothing really impressive enough to share. I do love this color though, it gradients perfectly from a very rich blue to a lovely violet.
I previously dyed it cyan that blended into lavender with purple underneath, but it faded into a more minty green, so I bleached all the green out to white and dyed all of it Turquoise mixed with a little purple so it would cancel out the yellow in the dye and prevent it from turning green. Also touched up the purple underneath into a more blue based purple rather than the previous red based purple I had before.

Dyed used:
Directions: Turquoise
mixed with a small amount of Manic Panic: Atomic Turquoise
Manic Panic: Ultra Violet

It's called the "Arwen Battle Braid" because this is the braid Arwen would have worne in the 2nd Lord of the Rings Movie at the battle of Helms Deep if this scene did not had been canceled.
There is only one shot from the set where you can have a slight glimp on her hair style so there are many "How to..."s out there in the web. This is the version I tried out and is at least made by 7 braids. Unfortunately my hair is too long and has no volume so that the braid isn't half as impressive as it could be...

But never the less: I still like it! But it takes very long to do this style so it's gonna be my "special ocassion style" I think

How To: Belle's Hair (ballgown)

FINALLY!

There's a contest on YeyFaceCharacterDisney's Tumblr, so I finally took the time to do Belle's hair, take pictures, and FILM a tutorial!

How To:
These are VERY simplistic, see my YouTube vid for details!

First separate out bangs and hair on side to just behind ear.
Part bangs down middle. Pin curl just the front pieces on each side, pulling hair on right across to left and rolling back out and visa versa.
Separate out a section of hair in addition to the bangs on each side.
From back and top of hair, section out hair and make high pony tail.
From this make sock bun, fold front remainder over top and pin into place, let rest fall down back.
Dry bangs up and across opposite side (to achieve volume and spray.
Spray side hair and blow dry forward towards face.
Take back half of side hair and rat for extra volume.
Drape side hair and bangs and pin into bun.
Pin between bangs and side hair for bump emphasis.
Curl all remaining hair.
Hairspray and smooth!
Tie or place gold band around bun!

Prom '08!

My hair was dyed with Special Effects - Napalm Orange.
My extensions were dyed with Raw - Bright Orange and Special Effects - Pimpin Purple.

FYI, the orange had been in for two months and we didn't have time to brighten to color, but we did lighten my roots some.
