Draconequus OC: Mortimer

Personally I haven't seen people make a draconequus OC that's the Spirit of Anything-But-Chaos, so I took a stab at it

More stuff with my headcanon. This is Mortimer, the Embodiment of Death.
Tried to incorporate all the symbols of death I could think of without making him looking like another run-of-the-mill reaper character Still not sure if I was successful.

Some info about him;
- Genderless, though is perceived to be male.
- Doesn't eat or sleep, nor do anything a typical, living being would do. It's debatable whether or not he's actually among the living.
- His appearance is a twisted parody of the Embodiment of Life. His head is a horse's skull with red, glowing dots for eyes and a pair of deer's antlers, with a different number of prongs on each; his forelegs are raven's talons; his hind legs are those of the Friesian horsebreed, a breed that's all black and is commonly used to pull funeral carriages; on his tail are spine-like protrusions along the top, as well as three silver, scythe-like "blades" near the tip; his wings are half feathered, half bat-like, with the membranes being significantly tattered and semi-transparent (though he's still flight capable).
- He typically walks hunched over on his hind legs.
- Usually wears a long black cloak.
- Imposing stature thanks to his antlers and large wings. It's safe to assume he doesn't have many friends; most beings, both mortal and immortal, seem to not be comfortable with being near the Embodiment of Death.
- He and the Embodiment of Life are treated as royalty.
- His duty is to collect draconequus souls and ferry them to the Afterlife. Rumors say that he gains a new prong on his antlers for each draconequus soul he collects.
- He also acts as an executioner, for Embodiments who have gone mad and destroyed one or more worlds in their quest for power.

part 1 - art summary

Akantor, the supremacy wyvern. this guy was a tough nut to crack, both to draw and to hunt. Up there is him doing his one hit K.O. attack which we got used to calling "the wind tunnel" (looked it up and hey, the wikia actually uses the wind tunnel term too )

i have some hunting tips in store for those who might be interested as this is going to be a long description so im not including it here.

part 2 - art study

okay, first of all the huge paper. it was a bit of a downside, it took me alot longer to make, but other than that, it also allowed me to easily pack in quite alot of details so in the end it was way worth the effort.

and also you might wanna know how unsure i was in everything, i never did anything close to this yet, so everything was very new to me.

the first and probably the biggest challenge for me was to effectively scale-to-fit a portrait picture into a landscape paper, sketching it at first was a bit of a pain, took me quite a few erases to get it to work for me, with the slanted horizon, not helping.

After sketching, i grabbed my 3h pencil and started shading on the tip of the left tusk, I worked my way up, grabbed a 3b pencil to cover up the dark patches.

started on the tip of the nose and went to the back of the head joining it with the left tusk, the eye was not supposed to be like that, but i'd rather have a slit eye than a blank eye.

from there i worked down the mouth up to the right tusk. the completion of the head gave me quite alot of confidence, i quickly rounded up those spikes in the back and up to the left arm, went to finish the body and the rear legs and tail and completed it at the right arm. the akantor was finished.

amazingly the background was done in only three days, compared to the weeks it took the akantor which was mainly due to procrastination.

the wind was fun to do, first unsure of what i have to do. the countless spikes were tiresome but rather fun to shade, the tilted horizon giving me frequent fails, the portrait to landscape adjustment. overall it was a very fun piece, alot of firsts were achieved and im very happy of the result.

part 3 - art info + fun facts

most of the piece was drawn side by side with my friend jerrel, he actually finished four pieces consecutively while i was drawing this epic single. his DA acc btw

probably about 80% of the graphite visible was from my 3b pencil, from the full size of 6 inches, all that's left of it is one and a half inch

when i stop for the day i usually pay akantor a visit, plays with him with a hammer and study his features along the way, in the end, 36 akantor gave their lives for the sake of this artwork . after i did finish it i decided to give him a little celebration hunt, i took off my armor and luckily i was able to get the felyne heroics skill from the drink felyne. (for those who do not know what im talking about, this skill greatly increases attack power when hp is just about 3-5%) (he was going to kill me one shot with any attack anyways so why not use felyne heroics) got him but he pwn'd me 2 times in the process

my previous best was this :thumb289329187: it's actually hard to imagine

Ça fait longtemps que je n'ai pas posté, voilà un truc histoire de dire que je ne suis pas morte (jeu de mot pourris vu le thème, youpiii!)

C'est un cheval version Dieu du Dead avec la cape typique longue déchiré (et fumante. SUICIDE BONUS) avec en guise de postérieure... Une patte de dragon. sachant que le reste de son anatomie est en lambeau/couvert de pustules/avec les os saillants/etc...
Voilà. Yeah.
La chose en haut est un "DEATH" stylisé et illisible.

This is a pop-up picture of my character Ragey burning a cactus.
A little about this picture is that I work as an Assistant Horticulturist so I work and care for a lot of plants. In one section we have a selection of cacti and I absolutely hate weeding by them because I always prick my fingers on their needles through my gloves. We even have a cactus that has spines that can go through the soles of your shoes if you step on the needles it sheds on the ground (personal experience talking).
Anyways, when I looked at the theme for the eighth week of the 52 week theme dragon challenge that I'm doing (info -> [link] ) which was Cactus the first thought in my head was "Man, I hate cacti." Then when I saw the contest for the group about dragons and burning things with flames they kind of meshed into one and this was the result. Tell me what you think!

This is an episode of my story. It tells about Hannah receiving a "fire curse" by a wizard whom she could recognize the voice.
The wizard made her den explode and her friend Friera died under the stones. Unda, that was Hannah's prisoner escaped from the explosion but he'll get back...

ps: yes, Hannah is holding her weapon by the blade and not by the hilt for a specific reason: the smoke coming from the flame is kind of hallucinogenic, she's sort of drunk, she's going to bring scars on her hands for her whole life... and... long long story

Hahahaha! Told you I would finish it eventually! And look at how pretty it turned out???
I have some problems with it but overall its pretty nice. Recognize the horned and appendages? This is dear Mzimu-Prizrak in my normal dragon style! Not the cartoony style I originally drew him in. The cartoon style is great for quick sketches, but doesn't touch this craziness.

I designed a new sea serpent character, but waited until I'd uploaded one of my sketch commissions to post this.

Brikkhal is a male serpent and uses the two rows of long fins on his back to move in deep water while expending little energy. The tail endings are bioluminescent.

Do you think I should do a full-color ref on him? I don't know if I will.

I've had this in my head for a few months now. Finally did a quick sketch of it to get the idea out of my head so I don't get bugged by it anymore lol.
Jake really does like kids, but he isn't used to being woken up by energetic baby dragons haha. I couldn't figure out how Jake would get away from Helium, so I did some time skipping I figured Helium would be able to know that's Jake even though he's human because of that animal sense of smell. Yep. And yes, I know Helium looks...odd, but the original pencil sketch can be completely covered up by my thumb (well, except for the wings). Oh, and enjoy those fluffy Dr. Seuss bushes.
I have no plans to color this. At. All.

And yes, I did cheat and use the same few sketches. I love you Photoshop

C'est p'tet le perso que j'ai le moins raté XD !

Voici Brid mêlée au fragment Holy Flame (celui de Naar, perso de *EncrE610 ) et qui devient, par là même, Phoenix ! Je sais ça fait mâché, digéré et remâché, mais j'pouvais pas passer à côté ! Surtout que ça va faire plaisir à quelqu'un ^W^

Voici les attaques qu'elle aurait pu avoir :

Weapons : Huhu, ses plumes sont des armes à elles seules !

- Golden Feathers

Chaque large plume de Phoenix se détache et fonce sur sa cible. Elles sont toutes tranchantes et brûlantes. Bien entendu, elles n'ont quasi aucun effet sur l'eau (qui leur enlève leur propriété de feu), et sur le feu (puisque les êtres de feu sont censés être immunisés contre). Dans ce cas, elles sont seulement tranchantes !

- Emerillon Danse

De chaque demi-cercle rouge qui se trouve dans une large plume de Phoenix, un oiseau rouge-feu pas plus gros qu'un colibri apparaît, et fonce sur sa cible. Une fois la cible atteinte, l'oiseau explose. L'attaque n'a aucun effet sur l'eau.

- Walking Fire

Skill défensive. Phoenix s'enflamme, et est potégée de toute attaque physique (la flamme brûle tout ce qui la traverse, et si ce n'est pas le cas, ce qui traverse la flamme traverse aussi Phoenix). Chaque pas qu'elle fait laisse une marque enflammée sur le sol et lui enlève de la puissance. Très peu effective face à l'eau (peut même être mortelle pour Phoenix si une trop grande quantité d'eau venait à être déversée sur son corps dans cet état). Attaque très épuisante.

- Skill Ultime

Fire Queen - Offensive et défensive. Phoenix écarte les bras, comme si elle allait s'envoler. Une carapace recouvre son corps, tandis que des flammes s'élèvent autour d'elle pour prendre la forme d'un phenix, oiseau de feu géant. La luminosité de l'oiseau augmente d'intensité jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y ait plus qu'une lumière aveuglante à la place. Alors, l'oiseau s'envole et fonce sur le sol. Le point d'impact le fait exploser. Elle fait l'effet d'une bombe, et éradique tout à une certaine portée, différente selon les forces de Phoenix et sa volonté.

"no tengo la fuerza para poder derrotar a uno de esos animales espaciales, ni los conocimientos para entender esas máquinas ni hacer químicos, menos poderes psíquicos... creo que buscar las naves es lo único que me queda"

Mientras corría por los pasillos que se llenaban de sangre mientras los más osados esclavos se abalanzaban sobre los pramathas Eridan recordaba como eran las naves de Midgard, claramente no había utilizado nunca una, su sociedad era muy patriarcal para que una mujer pudiese hacer algo como navegar espacialmente, comandando una nave, creo que solo habían cargos altos en política-recuerda- pero nada en puestos militares, era una estupidez, yo podría hacer lo mismo y mejor que todos esos inútiles hombres si tuviera la oportunidad de aprender a navegar...

Pasillos sin salida, bloqueados por los aliens, otros donde los parlantes habían hecho estragos con los esclavos con poderes insuficientes, tenía que haber un lugar...

De pronto, en un giro, se encontró con una puerta enorme, golpeo un cuadro que estaba a un costado de la puerta, rogando a los dioses que eso lo abriera, lo que sucedió al 3er golpe.

Gracias!- dijo mirando al cielo, mientras entraba al galpon donde una enorme nave se erguía frente a ella, pero no era la que ella estaba buscando, pues tras la imponente nave, que casi pasa desapercibida, si no hubiese sido por unas cuantas luces y sonidos metálicos que provenían de ella. Era una montaña, nunca había visto algo tan grande, que no hubiese sido creada por los dioses...

Debió caminar largo rato para poder ver una rampla que parecía conectar con la base de la monstruosa y majestuosa nave.
Ahora el problema era entrar sin morir en el intento...

welp, tenia el sketch hecho hace mucho rato, iba a hacer la nave pero no pude, xq tenia prueba ayer y tuve que estudiar mucho y weno toy pal copi con las pruebas y al fin un fin de semana largo y con lluvia, que rico...

entonces yay! eridan tiene la resolucion para ser piloto, ahora hay que ver que tipos de naves tendrá a su disposicion para hacerme una idea....

entiendo que la tenia que encontrar la nave o estar sentada, pero creo que sería difícil entrar a la nave, a parte no pude dibujarla xq me complique mucho en como ponerla en la pagina xD

weno, al final relaté como encontraba la nave ojala cuente, si no, tratare de hacerla again
