WOW okay accidental worldbuilding lol. So yeah, I really like these guys a lot. I'm considering having their tongues attached to the top jaw rather than the bottom. It would direct scents directly to the nose via a hole in the roof of the mouth rather than a Jacobson's organ. Then the entire tongue would flatten against the roof of the mouth while eating to keep food from getting into that hole. Not sure yet. Also gonna update Lazarus a bit to make him more plausible.

I'm really starting to like colored pencils, too.

They are perfectly adapted to arboreal life. A light build makes lifting its own weight easy. The hind feet have 3 centered toes and one thumb-like toe, allowing them to operate almost like hands. The thumb-toe has a longer, sharper, more curved claw than the other three to hook onto the bark. The front feet are also hand-like, with four "fingers" and two thumbs, the outer smaller than the inner. Both the front and hind thumbs are lifted when moving along the ground to prevent the claws from dulling.

Neillun are largely diurnal. This is because the nocturnal eutru is their only natural predator. Shortly after dusk, neillun will retreat to high tree branches, far out of the eutru's reach.

Neillun have an unusual method of hunting. Their physiology makes them an adept climber as well as an impressive sprinter. They prefer to rely almost solely on the element of surprise, hiding in tree branches until the prey walks beneath them, then jumping down onto it. However, if the prey is too far from cover for this approach, they will sneak through the treetops as close to the prey as possible, then leap down and sprint after them. Their leg bones have high collagen content to absorb the shock of long jumps.

Conversely, the vertebrae in the tail have a unique mechanism that allows them to lock into place when the muscles are tensed. This allows the tail to become rigid while sprinting. When the muscles are relaxed, the vertebrae fall back into their regular alignment. This allows the tail to shift balance quickly enough to safely navigate trees.

Neillun have lateral vents common to Prithvian animals. Unlike other species, however, theirs are constantly partially open, thanks to large holes near the top. The extra oxygen is necessary for sprinting, which occurs on the majority of hunts. A thin white membrane covers the holes to prevent debris from entering the respiratory system.

Neillun do not have nostrils. Instead, they flick their tongue out and use the ridges to pick up particles, then press them to the Jacobson's organ in the roof of their mouth. Their eyes are exceptionally sharp during the day, but almost useless in the dark. Instead, Neillun feel their way around at night with their antennae or navigate via scent.

Neillun are generally solitary, but pairs and trios are not unheard of, especially in adolescents. Individuals communicate via sounds, body language, and flickering bioluminescence in the ends of their antennae. The flickering acts as a sort of morse code. This method is generally avoided as it gives away their position to predators and prey alike, but it can be used to communicate over distance at night, from the safety of the treetops. Encounters rarely turn violent as any contact is a potential reproduction opportunity.

Neillun are hermaphroditic. The penis is retractable and rests in a cavity separate from the vagina. The vagina does not have a clitoris. Mating pairs will often trade positions, allowing both individuals to bear offspring. Parents give birth to up to three pups, which can climb and eat whole food immediately. Pups wait in trees while the parent hunts. Mating pairs rarely remain together, and pups will stay with the parent that birthed them.

Though their markings seem bold on the ground, neillun frequent a species of tree with black bark and white leaves. The black striping mimics the shape of a tree branch. All neillun have very similar body markings, but those on the tail tip and antennae stalk are unique to the individual.

Lazarus is a neillun born with a defect that left him with extremely underdeveloped ovaries and uterus. The rest of his reproductive system is intact, meaning he can mate, but cannot sustain a fetus.

He was given his name by a group of zoologists studying Prithvian fauna. They witnessed him be attacked by an angry mother raugena and an eutru on separate occasions. Both times the attacker left and Lazarus did not rise from the grasses, so the researchers assumed him dead, only to find him again a few days later no worse for wear.

The corro'sa's main military units are the hunters. The hunters are equipped with four photon grenades, either a rail or pulse rifle, crynate armor, an optic adjunct, and an voxalry cast. The photon grenades, upon explosive, in a 50 foot radius create a large blase that not only burn a target with an extreme amount of heat, but also disintegrate the molecular bonds of anything caught within 20 feet of the blase. The rail rifles fire a beam of pure kinetic energy, punching through tanks, heavy armor, and even various power armors with the greatest of ease. Pulse rifles fire beams that not destroy and shut down electronics, but also radiate large amounts of heat. Crynate armor is a special kind of armor made by the corro'sa that is created with a wide variety of metals and minerals that has properties that protect them from large amounts of kinetic energy, laser and plasma weapons, some small arms fire, and heat. Optic ajuncts are formed by a special antennae and four smaller eye-like sockets in the helmet that not only help the accuracy and range of corro'sa hunters, but can by used as a heads up display that show various things. The voxalry cast works similarly to the legionnaire's radio block, but is much more clear and has a wider range.

The corro'sa are the most upfront enemies of the empire, fighting them every step of the war. The corro'sa and empire have been fighting almost since the moment they met. The corro'sa are one of the only galactic forces that have defeated the deathcults. They found that, even though the foreboding armor can resist extreme amounts of heat, it can be penetrated with rail rifles, and their suits where shut down by pulse rifles and they where fried from the inside from pulse fire.

The corro'sa are known also for their mechs, drones, and armor. All of those work well with the hunter regiments, and they often work in conjunction, forming drone cadres, mechanical sections, tank platoons, and various other unit formations. ]]>

Due to an overrun by the subhuman race when she was a child Delta was exposed to the true nature of frightened humans when in the face of danger and near death. With her parents trampled to death by fleeing civilians Delta hid in fear as the monsters swarmed amongst her city. She had come face to face with the putrid smell of death in mere instant as a weird deranged looking creature spotted her hiding amongst the rubble; yet rather than killing the girl the creature spared the child and drove its comrades away leaving her all alone and wondering why she was still alive. Later on Delta whom is still hiding is again found by another savior or so she thinks...

The deathcult devolved from a peaceful, cultural, progressive society into a violent, raging anarchy. The deathcult split apart into various rage cults, constantly raiding and killing other xenos. The dark smiths, the forgers of all the cults of the demon gods, where pleased with the bloodlust of the rage cults. They gave them a new offer. If the rage cults all formed together under one banner, they'd give them new armor and weapons.

The rage cults all came together into the deathcult. The dark smiths then began forging foreboding armor, hand flamers, and power fists for them. The foreboding armor could take shots that most tanks and heavy armor couldn't, allowed them to survive in highly pressured environments and the vacuum of space, laugh off any small fire arms, could survive extreme heats and colds, and amplified the user's strength, agility, and constitution.

The deathcult became a symbol of fear to any who faced them. After killing any belligerents, any captured enemies are taken, tortured in terrible and horrific ways, sacrificed in macabre manners, and broken in both the physical, emotional, and spiritual spheres. The deathcult live in the deepest, darkest recesses of space. They fear none who attack them. They'll willingly attack anything they see or noticed, and fight with unbreakable morale. ]]>

The De'Cala are asexual. Upon death, their body decomposes, and upon decomposition, their cells break down into the soil or ground around them, and form small embryos. The embryos, after a period of time, form into small De'Cala that grow into other De'Cala.

The De'Cala are extremely strong, strong enough to throw around several tons and stomp tanks. They aren't the fastest or most dexterous, but move much more smoothly and swiftly when underwater. The are the apex creatures of their world, hunting any creatures they wish.

The De'Cala are on two planets. Long ago, a race of xenos wished to observe De'Cala behavior. They took a tribe and relocated them to another planet made mostly of water. They studied them for much time, but had been discovered by the De'Cala and exterminated. The De'Cala now live on both planets.

The De'Cala have been helped before by Lorc. Lorc rather liked the power and strength the De'Cala posses. He gives them his blessing, and protects them. Whenever they are attacked by any xenos or the human empire, they are granted even more strength and weapon skill they previously exhibited. ]]>

This is Ash the Soldier. She's got a floaty turret courtesy of the Dahl Corporation. She's sort of an angry disillusioned war criminal. The group for this session was pretty huge so I tried to take more of a backseat in this game. I ended up duct-taping Claptrap to my rocket launcher and launching him through a building after he lead a bunch of bandits to us. It was quite a lot of fun, but I mostly enjoyed seeing what all the different classes did. The Berserker was completely badass, by the way. ]]> No Rest for the Wicked by ).

Some humans left the human empire and began cults to worship the demon gods. The most worshiped god was Clyok. Clyok was pleased with his cultists. He changed them all to be in his image, yet they can never change back. All of their body, excluding the head, skull, brain, tentacles, liver, and kidneys where replaced with mechanical parts. They where given one heavy clamp, one light clamp, tentacles, new head and brain, tentacles, mechanical organs and arms, metal flesh, and various electrical components.

Many tech cultists prefer not to actually join into combat. They prefer to use the mechanical monstrosities they create from captured humans and xenos. They create mindless servants built for combat. They take no remorse nor pity, believing that it is the will of Clyok.

The tech cultists live in dark, seedy planets, away from others in caves and underground bunkers in which they perform their macabre ceremonies and experimentations. The tech cultists prefer not to trade or talk to others, even other cults of the demon gods. ]]>

The average legionnaire is armed with a Khar rifle, fixed bayonet, combat knife, survival knife, four frag grenades, one flame grenade, a gas mask, a radio operational block, waterproof boots, coat, and pants, ballistic chest piece, and average ceramic armor . Khar rifles fire a 7.64x39 round. The Khar rifles have an ingenious recoil system that, instead of recoil, the rifle vibrates rapidly, adding extra kinetic force to the rounds, which causes ghastly and horrific wounds that bleed a large amount and become infected easily. The radio operational block allow them to communicate with other soldiers and others any other place within the planet of the orbit of the planet. The ballistic chest piece is a armored vest they wear over their chest that, when is hit by a ballistic round, stop the spin of bullets and absorb all the kinetic force of firearms and ranged weapons.

Legionnaires do not have a long life expectancy. Therefore, they are fed much less than the officers and commanders. Legionnaires also do not get to have much sleep or rest. They spend the majority of their time either in combat or preparing for combat. Veterans can either be put into specialized veteran squads, command troops, or special forces after additional training.

I played two sessions of it. It is pretty freaking cool.

The first I made a Mechromancer named Switch. Her robot is called Mister Clankypants and he has the powers of Having a Chainsaw Arm and Opening Doors (the safe way).

Our campaign largely revolved around the Gunzerker thinking he had a Hunger Games-style reality TV show based around him, only with infinite lives. The reality TV show was real, but the rest of the party wasn't really hired by him or anything. My character played into it 100%, though the Siren was unwilling to tolerate that nonsense. It didn't exactly deter us, though. Highlights of the session included getting rocket launcher ammo air-dropped to our location (which, predictably, caused a huge explosion though we did get the ammo) and forcibly recruiting a bandit to be one of our cameramen by handing him a camera and completely ignoring his wishes to shoot us in the face. ]]> )made a fan-made custom pen and paper roleplaying system based around Borderlands 2 called No Rest for the Wicked (here's the alpha).
