In Drawing II, we had a choice of several objects to draw. I chose the giant Knight chess piece.

I kinda like this, actually. It's one of the very few Drawing classes that didn't make me want to strangle babies.

It was about 3 hours, maybe, and it was done with 6B charcoal, white charcoal pencil, and a white conte crayon.

This is a large pencil drawling done for a still life assignment in art class. The assignment was to drawl some object in seven different positions.

In this drawling, four knights remain standing while three knights have fallen. The dualistic nature of knights and the concept of the black and white duality of the game of chess made for an ideal subject matter. The game of chess some believe to have been derived from the ancient Egyptian game Senet. Some believe Senet was played as part of a ritual to see into the future. Ironically, today, the concept of cellular automation which is not all that unlike chess is being used as a means for determining future outcomes of events based upon theoretical potential outcomes of different decisions.

Knights were mythologically heros who would battle dragons on behalf of either good or evil. The white knight the traditional hero of good, the black knight the dark master of evil. Like Yin and Yang, they battle one another for the outcome of the kingdom and yet they are both more similar than dissimilar.

Its been a while since I've uploaded a peice. So, here's a little something. It is a contour line study of a little statue I own. I looked at it and drew it by eye. It was very difficult but I feel it turned out quite well. It took me about 5 hours to do.

Commissioned Car Drawing

I've been waiting on this commission for a while. I knew the woman wanted it but she took her time getting the reference pictures to me. This is a drawing of her husband's 1984 Trans AM (which is the same car as was used in "Knight Rider" I found out). Most of the car drawings I've done so far have been from a group of men who race their cars at a local drag strip. It seems to be the domino effect in that, I do a car drawing and then someone sees it and wants one too. So that's been cool, I hope this one generates another car drawing.

The reference photos she provided me with were not the best in the world. I had to make certain areas of this drawing up from my head. I tried to make it look like the rear wheels were spinning in this drawing too, not sure if I succeeded in that but it was fun trying something new. Hope you guys like it.

About this little pencil thing of mine... There isn't much to say xD I was inspired by a former friend of mine, who -would have guessed - played chess. His favourite piece was the knight, so I wanted to draw something knight-related. And this was the result of that xD
I still like it ^__^ (But I don't like to smell it. While I was in hospital, I barfed. Unfortunately my map with drawings was laying at the ground. And ... just imagine the rest. Or better: Don't! It was disgusting.)

This is a marble knight for a chess set. I have quite a few of these made of various materials. I bought them at a store in the mall a while back. It was fun collecting them, but I had to stop. I really would like more of them though. ^_^

I would have liked to make it darker, but if I did that it may have lost the shading and turned into a dark smudge; I end up doing that alot.

Why watercolor paper? Because I ran out of charcoal paper or any other kind and it was 2am so there was no way for me to obtain any, and I saw a piece of watercolor paper lying around so I used it.

Wow! Two in one day!

Ahem, sooooo.... what did you think when you first saw the title? Fruits Basket Yuki? Or maybe another of Yuki and Zero from Vampire Knight?

Well, it's neither. This summer (!) when we were at my grandma's house I found this doll and I started drawing it. When I showed my grandma she told me it had been a gift from a boy from Japan named Yuki Hara, that had been one of her students.

How cool is that?! I took a couple pics of the doll to know how to color it. I started coloring it the 8th or 9th of December and only now finished it.

It was driving me crazy. My mom heard me yelling at it, "Leave me alone! I'm gonna finish coloring you so I can go on with my life! (Yes, I'm crazy on a regular basis. )

This would have been done long ago but I made the stupid mistake of deciding I would make a background. Hey, I'm trying to improve my coloring skills so yeah...

Anyway, here ya go!

This is a still life I did for a class with charcoal. I think I do pretty well with this type of stuff but it just isn't as interesting to me as my fantasy drawings. This is a representation of "The pen is mightier than the sword". Oha, and I should note that the sword is wooden. I bought it at a Renn Faire from Hollowed Earth.

The title makes this sound a little more exciting, but I suppose chess can be linked in with the Arthurian legend... No? Fair enough xD

Anyway, it's basically Guinevere's betrayal, with Lancelot, to King Arthur. I feel a bit stupid for putting the castle, instead of the knight as Lancelot, but I stuck with it in the end, as a castle signifies their friendship; strong.

DISCLAIMER: It looks better in person because this was taken at a bad angle with bad lighting - this was it hanging up (hence the clip) drying the fixative in the darker part of the room.

So this is what I did for 5 hours... well less really because me and Emily messed around a lot and finished way early.

It was supposed to just be the dog plush but I ended up doing it smaller than I intended so it took much less time, so I added stuff too it - but then It was too light and I messed it up trying to darken it

Just a preliminary exam not the final, but that doesnt mean it's less importaint, if i'm sick or suffer from a 0 skills day on the real exam this can be used to appeal to redeem my grade.
Although I expect a bad grade on this, its marked in school by the art teacher - and he always marks my stuff down due to his personal dislike of me for many reasons.

Materials used: Paper, pencil for sketch, thin willow charcoal, charcoal pencil, putty rubber.
