i just came back from a one-week break from east malaysia, kota kinabalu. it is a very relaxing time to paint and muse. i found two really good reference pictures on dA and did a life painting of the rapids at Babagon, in the outskirt of kk.
medium: kisshou watercolor on schut watercolor paper - acid free, 200 gsm. cold pressed, 18 x 24 cm.

This time I didn't start with a usual grayscale sketch, but instead made an initial speed painting based on the complementary color palette which I had in mind. The greatest learning experience with this painting was to realize how soft the brushes I'm using are, and how overly soft the results become. Most of the brush strokes were not visible enough. Using an unsharp mask filter I was able to bring back that detail. Then the effect was slightly reverted in areas the are not near the focal points.

Goodness gracious. What in God's sweet, holy name have I written.

I'm sorry it's so long! I really didn't intend for this story to be so lengthy, nor did I really consider this to be such a great big project. _{I ended up spending six and a half hours on this.}

Freaking friends in real life making me write this stuff. If you couldn't tell, I tried so hard not to use vulgar language, but some of it appeared here and there. I am giving this a strict warning because of well...all that lemony goodness in there. I really apologize if this story completely sucks, I am so tired right now and when I'm tired and editing, you can't expect much of me.

I don't know where the handcuffs came in, but were they okay? Handcuffs just sounds very Ludwig to me.

It seemed like a good time to dust off this old piece and give it a bit of the metaphorical new paint. We used to be told that a Time Lord had thirteen lives. If that's still the case... could this be what it'll all look like before that fateful day on Trenzalore? (cue Cloister Bell)

A few people will probably take issue with where John Hurt's standing (or that he's included at all). I'm not pretending to know for sure- it's just the most logical place to put him based on what we know. If you want to tell me why I'm wrong and he's obviously the Valeyard, the Other, Paul McGann etc, there's already some good threads for that: [link] [link]

Also, please don't ask me for variants, higher-res versions, different wallpaper sizes, etc. I used to do that sort of thing, but rampant piracy of the old version kinda ruined that for everyone. Sorry.

so did some character concepts earlier on livestream.
Im happy with all of them but i think the goat is my favorite hehe
would be fun in a game with lots of copper underground pipes and steam, and also running through cities that are warm colored and wooden houses with strings of paper lanterns that are gold going between them... all in all warm streampunk and dark colors. also a purple sky at night.
