First art of 2008! Four elemental animals done as sticker and magnet designs for Further Confusion 2008, which I will be at in the dealer's room. I wanted to have some fun cool looking stickers I could sell at my dealer's table, and at future cons as well. So I picked a theme that's fun and pretty popular, and everyone can relate to and appreciate. I would like to do more themed sticker sets like this in the future, but I don't have the time before FC.

The originals paintings and the sticker/magnets will all be at FC, so if you're going stop by my table! I've been working all winter break on these, so hopefully someone out there will want some stickers. ^^

Watercolor and pencils = fun! I don't think I've ever had so much fun working on a piece with Morgan before...even with those pencil-murdering black wings. The haphazard watercolor was something new, and I enjoyed it a lot. Yes, Morgan and Nimri again...they're incredibly inspiring lately. It's time for more original work for the con. I'm digging into my stacks of old paper.

What to say about this.... It's another member of my disappearing dragon series. The paper was made years ago with textile ink, leaves (to make the pattern) and salt. My visual idea was to have a creature (creatures) breaking a liquid surface, and to use an opaque paint to signify form above the water, and move to a transparent medium when addressing objects beneath the water.

The result was very successful (and I should like to try it again) but the paper fought me all the way. Salt has a tendency to get into the fibers and disrupt paint, especially watery paint. The salt was accidental. The paper had absorbed it from some other paper sitting in the pile.

But well, these things happen, and it turned out well regardless. I wish I could work a bit more on it, but the convention looms, and I need to get onto other things. I'll price it high, and if I bring it home, I'll work on it some more.

This gryphon guy's all fluffed up and looking over his shoulder for... something? I don't know, but it's apparently SERIOUS BUSINESS GUYS.

I smashed together this little original in hopes of selling it so i could then spoil a little more on father's day. (no, he's not my father, but he's my kid's father, and about the most they will do for him at their age is cling to his legs while he's trying to walk)
He spoiled me on Mother's Day and now I seek revenge!

this was somewhat experimental.. i wanted to see how copic markers and colored pencils worked together, and it turns out they work quite well! there's also a very small amount of watercolor on the background for added texture.

Posable Fantasy Prehistoric Tundra Stag!

This unique hand sculpted Posable Fantasy Prehistoric Tundra Stag is a one of a kind piece of art work being offered up for bid!
He is FULLY POSEABLE! This is a completely hand made fantasy creature.

I hand sculpted the head and cloven hooves onto a posable frame that is wrapped in stuffing. I then hand paint the clay in Acrylic paints. The synthetic fur I hand dye. The antlers are a type of resin and not made by me to insure that they are not fragile. There is not another creature like this in the world!

I do not use molds, casts or patterns, each is fully hand made and original.

The Fantasy Prehistoric Tundra Stag is approximately 22 inches long including tail and 17 inches high including antlers.

I sign each one on the side of the foot, back of the ear or under the jaw.

Ahh i wanted to draw something winterish for a while~

Anyway another experiment, This time i've decided to mix Traditional art, photography and cg XD

Here is the result. Again whole character done by copics, BG is randomly googled "forest" stock photo and snow/lightning on coat also minor bg edits was done in photoshop.

I also felt like drawing young boys.. uh need to dodle moar shota so i get back to old bishies OTL.

Random druid boy. Title sposed to be winter druid but i like wonderland moar D:!

I wanted to draw something to test new supplies: both my new watercolours, and a new brand of watercolour paper.
Verdict: Winsor-Newton watercolours are great, though harder to use than my old ones because they dry much faster. The colours are gorgeous, bright and saturated, and I think I'm going to have much fun with those. As for the paper, it gives a very beautiful blending with markers... but a bit too much, the colours tend to bleed.

As for the picture in itself, I drew what first came to my mind, to be honest. I just tried something really fantasy-inspired, different from what I usually do, just for fun.

Don't even get me started about everything that I dislike about the result: I really don't like it much. It lacks depth, contrast, shadows, shapes, plausible pose and I don't know what else.
I do like her face, though, I tried to make a face a liiiiittle bit different from the regular faces I do and I'm happy with the result.

While I don't usually sell originals, I'm willing to sell this one if anyone's interested - there might be people who actually appreciate this picture more than I do. All the information will be posted in my journal.

I'm turning critique off because I already see so much myself that could be done better that I don't think it's worth much more investigation.

Semiyar and Diana, a couple affectionately referred to as "the bird and the bard." Two special characters from entirely different worlds who found they had something to offer each other. This piece has been in progress for a very long time, but I haven't had a moment to really work on it until this week. Drew something on my sketchbook cover and it kind of turned into this, hahaha. Now I'm kind of scared of carrying it around with me in case I spilled something on it or something @__@; (but i kind of have to because it's my only sketchbook o_o; )

this is another copic marker commissions i did of the snake girl in dusk till dawn of the selma hayek character.....this was one of the 1st ones i tried....i still wasnt 100% confident with the markers yet...if u look closley u can see that her face is not inked...i colored over the pencil...and then went back and darkened it in hopes that nobody would notice....

i like these things, they are fun to do and when scanned in...they almost look like paintings or something

this one was a most viewed piece and very popular...no wonder as to why...3/4 shots are always eye catching..every body likes looking at woman at this scale....u almost never see a magazine cover of a woman where u actually see the girls knees.....and everybody likes to see them jubblies...

this was my 1st time using actual color....i always use "tonal" grays....i.e. warm gray, cool gray and neutral gray....the feathers on her shoulder is the actual color of red i used on her bikini but i went over it all with a 5-7 "warm" gray to darken it all to mute it...mostly because i didnt want the red to over power the piece...and im glad i took the chance on mixing the two colors cause now i do it all the time.

i kinda like how this came out cause she does look very curvy and sexy...and she has an impossibly thin waist...make her hips pop....

was happy with the snake too...but i 4got to add white out shines to the snake, turns out i didnt really need it....

with these commissions i normally never go with an ass shot....too many boobs fans out there and less curves with a girls back...and its where the face is..the front...sigh

Before starting this illustration, I tried working up color digitally from a grayscale image. That's sorta turned backwards now, with local color being developed in traditional media, and then using photoshop as a means to enhance the tone, colors, and details only where necessary. It takes forever. Seriously it does, this took over 60 hours to complete.

I'm currently on my third piece for this project, and the process has come a long way. I'll be excited to share that one when it's ready!

Playing with my grey paper some more. I wanted to do something a little more abstracted with a strong sense of motion, kind of a whirlwind of evil spirits.

I had to escape from color for a while. It does baffle me so. Personally, I really dig B&W but everyone loves the color so I always end up with color commissions and things. O well.

Time to get back to commissions D:

O yeh... this was done mostly with acrylic ink, but there's a little charcoal and conte thrown in there.

Golden Bondage

I'm enjoying some lazy days before I'm off to Kapow! and London Expo this weekend, so for my first lazy drawing I give you Jacob in golden bondage and Nini just chilling.

I quite honestly haven't got a clue as to what is going on, because Jacob is a shape-shifter so things like holes in his horns and piercing aren't ever going to be permanent on him and non of it should be able to hold him in place. Maybe it's some kind of magic anti-shapeshifting rope, and Nini just saved him, and now they're considering getting the best out of the situation to celebrate their victory?

Or he just did this to himself. What the hell do I know?

Project 5! And more strange things turning up here in this place. Also, I stumbled over a somewhat different approach to the digital coloring part of this process, one that relies way more heavily on the watercolor original, and not quite so much on steamrollering over it. I hope it helps freshen this illustration up a little bit!

Edit note - wow the thumbnail version of this looks really, really gross. is anyone else having this problem with their image uploads, or know any way to fix it?

I have had a bunch of copic-markers lying around for almost two years, and I've pretty much used them ONCE before this. No idea why, since they're actually really neat and comfortable to use. :-P

Orange isn't usually a color I use. Which is exactly why I decided to color an entire piece of paper orange And after staring at said piece of paper for a very long time, I then decided to turn it into a dragon portrait, of sorts, using only yellow, orange, red, and a teeny bit of purple.

It's super colored to make up for all my other lack of colors

Well, it seems Morgan and Nimri wanted to round out this year, as they have for the past three years running! Their relationship grows stronger and deeper with each passing year, and as ever, I strive to capture that. This piece took far longer to complete than I'd planned, but that's usually how it goes. XD Forgive any contrast issues--I can't seem to make it look right on any monitor.

This is my gift to the ever-awesome, enduring and brilliant ~ElvenSoul06 without whom this story and particularly this couple would not exist. Thanks for being a wonderful friend, Kelly, and sticking with me all these years! *many hugs*

A more medieval style griffin. I enjoy their long, curving necks.

Still playing with my paper and paint. This is the first time I tried out water soluble oil paint and I love them.
