An extension of the Galactic Federation's law-enforcers living and working at the capital city of Planet Tallon 5. Most of the Troopers brought their families with them to live in Tallon City amongst the Chozo and Luminoth immigrants. They are brave and just, and protect the public with vigilance.

Metroid-Ex
A mysterious new evolution of the common Metroid usually found in the tropical rainforests, caves and plains of Planet Tallon 5. They are much less agressive than regular Metroids and tolerate, even enjoy humanoid company. However they will attack when violently provoked and won't hesitate to use a stronger version of the Metroid leeching attack or slash at the target with their claws.

I did this because I happen to believe strongly in this issue. The Picture of the soldier is of course and African American CONFEDERATE SOLDIER. If you did not know Blacks fought and died under and for this flag alongside their White brothers in arms as well. Among them were also Mexican Americans, Native Americans, European Immigrants, and even chinese. I am a southerner and it pisses me off when non southerners come and tell us whats racist and whats not racist in our own home.

Not intentionally meaning to offend anyone, but this is a sketch I did shortly before Bush ran for his last term as President. I NEVER would have predicted that he would actually win a second term! I was so sure that the American people had seen him for the moron he is.

I was wrong. My own state turned Red for the first time in its history and I simply couldn't figure out why! It came to me that those who voted for Bush under any circumstance were voting for one of the many issues supported by conservatives all over. Religion and wielding military might.

Nixon did it, so did Reagan and Daddy Bush and now Dubya has left the country in a mess and we started and illegal war on another country on trumped up reasons, AND (like all the others) the country is in economic turmoil.

I'm hopeful for the new President. It's refreshing to have a leader who can actually speak in complete sentences. I've seen things recently that no neo-con can explain away. The country is clearly behind Obama.

No more pushing science out of the classroom in favor of religious belief. No more threatening to undo the right of a woman to choose abortion if he wants that choice. No more "mandate from God" in the form of a simple-minded cowboy/ex-college-cheerleader/greatest executioner as Governor-with-a-tally-larger-than-all-other-states-combined/inarticulate buffoon/war-mongering moron.

We are now once again, all AMERICANS. That includes everyone, every immigrant, every natural born citizen and every person from every culture and race. We have to stand together as our ancestors and our grandparents once did to survive.

This means we should collectively chastise those idiots who STILL BELIEVE that when one party wins the other party loses (Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and several other idiotic senators and congressmen on both sides). It's time to undo what the so called "Uniter" has done which is to split us into different factions that can't get along. It's time to really work together and simply be "Americans" again.

A little Halloween submission from Irish folklore.

Wicked Jack was a notorious miser, cheat and ne'er-do-well who tricked the Devil into relinquishing his claim on Jack's soul. When Jack died, though, his evil ways prevented him from entering Heaven and the Devil denied him entry into Hell. Casting him an ever-burning coal from the infernal pit to light his way, the Devil cast him out to wander the world for eternity, until the day of final reckoning. Pausing only to pluck a turnip to serve as a container for the coal, Jack can still be seen nights in lonely fens and on the moors as a strange light weaving and turning his crooked way. Some call such lights "will-o-wisps", foxfire or corpse-lights, but those who know the tale will tell you it is Jack of the Lantern making his way through a perdition of his own construction....

Since Jack had bested the Devil, no lesser being of darkness or death would dare face him. Thus, on Halloween, when they ran riot, "Punkees" - hollowed out root vegetables with 'punk torches' in them would be set outside the door to keep such spirits away. Irish immigrants to the new world found a particular type of Indian squash even more suitable for the purpose, and thus the 'pumpkin' got its name...

Right this is the piece of artwork i am most proud of
Done for my GCSE final exam, we were given the title "personal collection" and going through a hard time i decided to use my sketchbook as a diary which is about as personal as you can get!
the general theme is that my mother immigrated and i had to choose to go with her or stay here with my dad, go through the door to a new life or stay on this side were everything is safe and familiar.
The collage is made up of pictures of my friends and family i would be leaving, quotes from the diary and song lyrics
i tried to recreate a real feeling of teenage angst.
This got me an A* and then was entered into a nationwide competition judged by Damien Hirst and came second winning me a sizable amount of money and gave me one of the proudest moments of my life, standing in front of my own work on exhibition in London with Damien hirst telling me how much he liked it and that mine was his personal favorite whilst being photographed by the press.

I create art mostly from recycled materials, using acrylic, mixed media, and collage techniques on canvas and other materials. I use discarded magazines, postcards, advertisements, and promotional materials in my work and utilize the subliminal messages contained within them. I create a fusion between painting and background materials and I enjoy the interplay between my creations and the collage imagery I have chosen.

In my work, I try to represent my personal experience growing up in the Domincan Republic as well as that of a recent immigrant to this country. Recent subjects have been traditional carnival scenes from my country, every day life on the streets of Santo Domingo, and the portrayal of Portlands idiosyncratic culture through portraits and café scenes. Central themes are diversity and the fusion of different ideas and cultures. Ultimately, I try to tap into universal concepts and feelings, things that are accessible across cultures.

I think that diversity is the first step in creating any artistic or cultural movement. The next step is fusion of ideas and cultures to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. When groups are divided and maintain only their separate identities, they are unable to transcend and enrich the larger society. In my work and life as an artist, I try to reach beyond borders and languages to find a way of communicating that is at the same time playful and universal.

My final assignment for school last year. We had to make an artwork based around the word \'Kleurlingen\', which can\'t really be translated in English but can mean something like \'People of colour\' or \'coloured ones\'. The word Kleurlingen is easily attached to immigrants in our country, and immigrants have a hard time to be accepted in our country. They are seen as intruders, strange and possibly hostile. I hate that type of ignorance, so I decided to give this concept a bit of a twist. I took a pair of Caucasian looking people and placed them in a strange, black and white world. Now, they are the intruders, the weird people of colour whom stick out. There\'s a lot more concepting behind this world than I care to write down, so I\'ll leave it at this. Enjoy!

P.S. Critique is always welcome, but bear in mind this was made over a year ago!

Bio: Born to a family of Japanese immigrants; Kaito, or Kai as she is called by friends, was always captivated by comic books and manga. Her dedication to both was taxing on not only her wallet, but her academic grades. She is a sophomore in high school having failed twice because of her addiction to video games and comics. When she discovered her meta-human abilities (during a school shooting of all things) she decided to become a hero.

Personality: Despite often described as a ditz, Kai is actually very smart, she merely becomes very spacey when a subject doesnt interest her. She is kind-hearted almost to a fault able to forgive even people who wrong her physically, this combined with her impressive power leaves many unable to hold a longstanding grudge against her.
When she is particularly emotional she sometimes slips into using Japanese words, or falls into an accent.

Name Meaning: Rady Rightring, the first name she used before her identity was made public in her excitement she slipped into her Japanese accent and was unable to clearly say Lady Lightning
Name Meaning: Raightning Bolt, was intentional, combining Raiden with Lightning Bolt upon going public with her identity.

Notes: Because she has had many encounters with The Rejects, Orlyman has given her a super suit a costume that works with her powers, and was originally only given to members of the Meta-Human Union. The suit will actually heal with her if she is damaged, and it enhances her ability to generate electricity even storing access electricity in some portions of the outfit for later use.

This is the first piece for my AP studio class. Mrs. Lewis sent us each a newspaper picture and we had to make a piece around it and it was the vaguest thing ever.

Also, I hate doing political commentary in my art.

MIGRANT HOSTEL - by Peter Skryznecki

of all the comings and goings-
arrivals of newcomers
in busloads from the station,
sudden departures from adjoining blocks
that left us wondering
who would be coming next.

nationalities sought
each other out instinctively -
like a homing pigeon
circling to get its bearings;
years and place-names
recognised by accents,
partitioned off at night
by memories of hunger and hate.

for over two years
we lived like birds of passage -
always sensing a change
in the weather:

whose tracks we would follow.

a barrier at the main gate

_{Everyone knows tvtropes.org and its hilarious. Seeing as PToE has so many characters its easy to mull around the place and find their tropes so thats what i decided to do! Three each and accompanied by a chibi. Alot of the tropes can go with multiple people but i just stick them on one.

1. Being Personal Isn't Profesional = "They're professional and polite, always making a good first impression. They're very good at what they do, but take everything way too seriously. They're quick to introduce themselves to everyone in the workplace, but don't bother to find out any more than their co-workers names and strengths within the workplace. It's not uncommon for people to start wondering if they are a robot due to their lack of extreme emotion and aloofness."
2. Ice Queen = "A woman who is cold, in any or all of the possible interpretations of what "cold" means. She has a cold heart, and a frosty demeanor. Unapproachable by a sane man, as she will simply tear out his heart. The term can also be used in a non-romantic sense for a woman who rejects the normally close society of women, and prefers to be a loner."
3. Mother Russia Makes You Strong = "Most Russian characters, at least since the Cold War started, are depicted as hard fightin', heavy-drinkin', manly, boorish creatures. Even their females border on being the Femme Fatale."

~ All the PToE women are badass but there are some always work and play hard. Barium's rock hard and bitchy attitude towards everyone, even her family, makes her a true Ice Queen. Not many people are capable of getting along with her and she has, pretty much, no friends. But who needs friends when your obviously respected and taken completely serious? Being a Russian immigrant makes her seem even more manly and boorish and, even though its typical, her past in the cold country has largely influenced her personality.

(Also subject to Disappeared Dad and her constant search for him obviously labels her as a hardcore Daddy's Girl. This makes her a sadder character but her Don't You Dare Pity Me attitude keeps her tough.)

Overview: In this project, you will be presenting a visually compelling response to a social, political, or cultural issue that intrigues you. You will not simply create an illustration or representational scene that depicts. Be open to the possibilities of approaching this in a way that is not literal, which could include abstraction and metaphor so you can create something fresh, evocative, powerful. The final form or structure you choose will be an important part of communicating your meaning.

Process: Choose a subject. Read several current newspapers or news magazines. Be curious. Suspend judgment. Read every article in an issue. Peruse all subjects, not just the usual ones you are drawn to. Look at everything - obituaries, business, fashion, sports, front page, cartoons, editorials, letters to the editor, advertisements, etc. As you are reading, discover what seems interesting to you, what you are drawn to. Pay attention to the language used and notice what images appear in your mind as you read. Highlight phrases or quotes that are intriguing. World Warrior America

A little late for Memorial Day, but better late than never as they say.

I was seriously tempted to make this one a bit negative, since everyone seems to be pointing out Americas flaws, but I felt that was out of place with the whole idea of World Warriors. However I did do something different than just praising America. I always saw pictures of the American Spirit as being someone with blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin. Instead I decided to make her an Irish or German immigrant, like during the Industrial Age, since a good portion of America originated from immigration. The big melting pot as they say.

Indian Arrival Day Series

I did this as a display for Indian Arrival Day in my school's library. I teach high school drama, but I tend to live in the library... it's a nice place to be.

I attempted to break down the history of Indian Arrival Day in simple visual concepts:

L-R
Panel 1 - Indentured immigrants boarding the ship about to leave India
Panel 2 - The ship nearing the end of its journey across the "Kala Pani" (this is what the immigrants called the sea; it means "dark water")
Panel 3 - Indians were brought to Trinidad as indentured labourers between 1845 and 1917 to work on sugar estates. This panel depicts that.
Panel 4 - Our country today and some of the cultural contributions that East Indians have made (dance, religion, music, cuisine, etc.)

Dear gracious, this picture took way too long to complete. First I spent a good two months doing the face/torso in graphite (8B, 6B, 4H, 2B, HB, 4H pencils used). Also, this picture is actually 3' x 2' so that did nothing to help in its completion. Then, spur of the moment my art teacher was like all "hey, let's make this a mixed media piece and do stuff all over the background." So I spent like 10 hours on the collage bit of the background because I had to make copies of the original documents (those, by the way, are his immigration papers and the like; he came to the US from Blizne, Poland, in the early 1900s), arrange the documents, cut them around the contour of the drawing, and then use medium gel to attach the papers to the actual piece. Then I practically vomited watercolor all over the already-super-busy background, which surprisingly helped to calm it down. Then I added watercolor to the face/torso literally the day it was due. And then I finally got to be done with it. Yeah. I'd give the whole experience 2 stars; would not recommend. Anyway, enjoy and stay classy.

This 'work' is a performance. My "mexican-american" worker, complete with construction garb and vest sprayed with wet substance on his back- labors intently over America's southern half, specifically Texas and California, building a nostalgic construction play set of 1960s Americana work zone. Laborer is permitted to take siestas and eat during his 'work.'

Intent is to bring life to the "Life" of the immigrant american, claiming him as "family" to our nation of immigrants- back breaking labor that requires the consent of life risking tasks to provide for oneself and future selves is the commentary one is faced with in interacting with the piece.

This is the line design for my 2-D class turned into a collage, my second project.
The child on the right side was a picture attached with an article from National Geographic about human slavery that goes on today. The child was working in a leather factory in Italy where many Chinese immigrants go to find work but end up working in factories and make less than 3 bucks an hour. Anyway , I guess the picture is about how some children are born into such conditions, and surrounded by chaos.

Festa Junina (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈfɛstɐ ʒuˈnĩnɐ], June Festival), also known as festa de São João for their part in celebrating the nativity of St. John the Baptist, are the annual Brazilian celebrations historically related to European Midsummer that take place in the beginning of the Brazilian winter. These festivities, which were introduced by the Portuguese during the colonial period (1500-1822), are celebrated nationwide but are particularly associated with Northeastern Brazil. The feast is mainly celebrated on the eves of the Catholic solemnities of Saint Anthony, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Peter.

As Northeastern Brazil is largely arid or semi-arid these popular festivals not only coincide with the end of the rainy seasons of most states in the northeast but they also provide the people with an opportunity to give thanks to Saint John for the rain. I know I said i would only make two True Blood characters but since I started school on Tuesday my English class demands stories so I will write a short love story between my new True Blood Vampire Sonia and Salvatore (Ethan Hawke) ''Sal'' Rossi. I wanted to make a little story with him so I went searching online and casted Moon Bloodgood as Sonia.

Character History:

Sonia Lee Song was born December 6 1911 in a small village that resided in the Himalayan mountains (a village that does exist anymore) her mother was half Tibetan and Korean and her father Dutch and Indian. when Sonia was 9 her youngest sister Sue-Lee had died from tuberculosis and Sonia had took full responsibility of her three younger siblings since her mother went into a deep depression. at age 11 her family had immigrated to the United Sates later. Sonia spent most of her adult life working small jobs to support her family and at 28 she was to be wed to a wealthy man. A year into marriage she knew she didn't love him. On November 11 1941 after Sonia and Alfred (her late husband) had finished seeing the Wolf man the couple had taken a stroll through their normal park that connected into the woods. They were attacked and Alfred was killed by Alexexi Romanvo ( a vampire in Dead in the family) during the struggle he was impressed by Sonia's fighting skills and turned her. Sonia's main role is in two True Blood FanFics and cameo in a third. '' a Winter's tale'' and Before the Devil knows your dead,'' and before Sunset.

Personality:

Sonia comes from traditional Asia based family and had settled becoming a homemaker but didn't feel happy for the role. She is kind-hearted strong, aloof and a somewhat stubborn woman. When she became a vampire she increased her fighting status and learned to become a highly skilled jet Pilot. when she meets Sal her love for him becomes of a soul mate stance.
