Backstory: A little while ago, my sister approached me with an idea. She's doing an education degree, and her and her friends had to give a series of lessons on the geological sciences to a class of primary school kids. One of their lessons involved teaching the kids about the structure of the Earth. One of her friends came up with the idea of presenting a model of the Earth made out of cake. So my sister asked me if I could make a spherical cake with all the layers of the Earth inside it.

I told her I couldn't do it. "How do you get a sphere inside a sphere inside a sphere?" I recall saying. "Oh yeah," she replied, realising what it would involve.

I spent the rest of the afternoon thinking about it. I don't admit defeat. Ever. But especially not with cake. Nothing is impossible is pretty much my baking motto, so to say this cake was impossible left me feeling weird. There had to be a way. A way that didn't involve carving or crumbing the cake. I kept mulling it over until I had a breakthrough.

I actually ended up coming up with a couple ideas, but I couldn't do my Plan A due to equipment restrictions. Plan B involved baking a cake inside a cake inside a cake.

Tech details: The inner core is vanilla buttercake, the outer core is lemon Madeira sponge, the mantle is orange Madeira sponge. The 'crust' of the Earth is made from buttercream, then it's all covered with marshmallow fondant. I marbled a little white fondant through the blue to make it look like clouds. I hand cut the continents then painted them using food colouring and a dry brush technique. The continents took me about 6 hours straight and I'd be lying if I said I didn't end up hating it. What started as a determination for pin-point accuracy became 'let's get this shiz done'. The painting took probably 3/4 of that time. It took 5eva. But I'm glad I did it because I think it looks a lot better then plain green fondant would have.

Western Kingbirds are one of my favorite birds, I am glad that they are finally back here in Colorado. They signal spring is officially here and summer isn't far away. They also are not that flighty and can make great subjects to photograph so when I saw this guy perching in the sunlight yesterday morning I knew right away I had to get him. They are so colorful...I love the bright yellow that they exhibit, it stands out so much and is very eye catching.

For the record I'm not a pokefan. However, I remember when Pokemania invaded the country, the TV series, cards, games and all that stuff but what really baffled me was that the first movie never came to theaters here. I dunno why, there's now way I could have missed it cuz I was .... ahem well..sorta ...anticipating for it and I kept checking the schedules. And it never did show in cinemas. I ended up watching a cam version from a DVD you could buy in the sidewalk. Did I miss it? I dunno. I remember my little cousin going ape shit when I showed it to him cuz apparently he never got to see it in the big screen either. He called his cousins over to watch it LOL "There ya go you little pokebrats enjoy!"

After spending the last two week traveling in Germany and Austria I’m finally returned and started to processes the images. I started in the Hainich National Park in Thuringia to shot some beech forest but I was less lucky with the conditions. HoweverI was compensated with some great light last week in Styria. Look forward to some great mountain vista, whitewater and underwater images!

I just keep finding insects mating… When I had a close full view look on my laptop I noticed that the one behind hooked his (or her) claws in the back of the front one… it gave me the idea to write this little poem about the contradiction between man and woman while doing it! In my opinion it should be joyful and fulfilling for both!
Took this shot at my favorite meadow, North of Roermond. Wrote the poem 2013-05-16.

NOTICE: I know I said in a journal a week or two ago that chapter 12 was full of feels. Well, this is not that chapter; there were a few additions to the plot, so that chapter is not chapter 12, but now chapter 13.

Also, many of you guessed that it was an illusion, and you were right; yay for you! Although there were many interesting theories :3 But the hints were all there:
The strange scrolls, Kage was acting weird and he didn't seem injured at all, They had apparently followed him all that way, which was also odd; etc.

And, for the record, Daraku's scrolls on trees method was NOT inspired by Slenderman. I only realized the similarities after I wrote it.
And a random FYI, when the scrolls are 'activated', they start to move as if blown by wind, even if there is no wind. The illusion will go on until either the person is dead, the person leaves, the scroll is taken away from near them, the scroll is ripped, or if it goes on long enough, the scroll fades and becomes blank (maybe an hour, depending on what it is).

And now, your next mission is to try and figure out what Kurai and Yuki's plan is. Here are a few of the clues already given:
-"It'll be harsh on all of us", "It won't hurt, will it?"-"No (Lie)", "I've done it many times on humans", "I don't want to lose him."

I think there are more, but I can't think of them right now.

Also, random scared demon in forest is just random scared demon in forest; nothing to special about that guy concerning the story.

And, concerning Kage-sama's mask. Daraku creates them, but he doesn't design them; the blood does that. All the colors and stuff like that come from the individual, making it special to them.

Soooo, quick random Japanese lesson time- 殺す, or ころす, is 'Korosu', which means 'Kill'. As in 'Omae Korosu!' - 'I'll kill you!'

"After Boo was saved, Sully and Mike realized they no longer required scares for cash, thus forcing Mike into a new line of business; comedy.

As Mike continued his stand-up routine with the children in hopes for laughs, Sully partied and wasted money that he didn't have. The problem is: the world didn't care, it was Sully, a hero and role model. And everyone loves Sully. Everyone but the one living in his shadow.

Mike was tired of it. Tired of lowering himself to telling jokes, only to hurt himself in the process over, and over again. Mike decided to have a talk with Sully about it, but was continuously avoided. Angered, Mike followed Sully one day, only to realize he was headed for the home of Mike's girlfriend, Celia.

Mike rushed home, shocked to find the two talking. His anger got the best of him and he attacked Sully. Out of defense, Sully struck Mike, catching his one-eye. Out of confusion and anger, Mike launched his nimble body into Sully, peircing him with his horns, killing him.

As Sully laid dead on the floor, Celia screamed, blaming Mike for the death of him. She then told Mike that he wanted to surprise him with a new job, and was just talking with her to help surprise him.

Devastated, and now wanted by the Monster City Police, Mike ran. He had to go where no one could ever find him, so he travelled to the old Monster's Inc factory. Mike opened one of the Doors, and was transported to Earth to live amongst the humans, banishing himself from Monstropolis.

This is where Mike was broken, and dwelled on the city streets, among those that looked down upon him.

To this day, no one knows what happened to Mike, and no one ever will."
