_{'Below the Rust' is actually my biggest painting (it is 1.2 x 0.8 meters wide), and the one I have spent the longest time on. Five months, doing an average half-time work. The fact is that I can't help myself doing those small details that nobody can see. Using a 1-hair brush on a canvas that wide is totally insane!

This is only oil paint on canvas, but before starting to paint I made many sketches, and even a colorized version with photoshop (to set up the right colors).}

Ragnarok I

Collaboration with - Wolves of Ragnarok.

Ragnarok -"Doom of the Gods"- means the end of the cosmos in Norse mythology.

There are three wolves. One is Skoll, who is chasing the Sun and Hati- is chasing the Moon from beginning of the world. And cruel one, who was banished by the Gods into depths of earth- Fenrir.

The wolf Skoll will finally devour the sun, and his brother Hati will eat the moon, plunging the earth into eternal darkness. The stars will vanish from the sky. The cock Fjalar will crow to the giants and the golden cock Gullinkambi will crow to the gods. A third cock will raise the dead.

The earth will shudder with earthquakes, and every bond and fetter will burst, unleashing the terrible wolf Fenrir from darkness....

I did concept of Ragnarok I- Wolves of Ragnarok and lineart and *khaosdog beautifuly colored this.

LINEART: - A3 smooth bristol, by jumbo grip pencil.
COLORING: - A3 high quality watercolor paper, watercolors, acrylics, pearlescents and colored pencils (polychromos).

The Lurking Sock Puppet

Another quick and silly little doodle, 5 x 7, for a con. I have this thing for sock puppets. I dunno what. I find them a little...off.

They say all art is autobiographical, and if I were a sea serpent, and if sea serpents somehow wore socks despite their lack of feet, and if I then discovered that some unscrupulous individual had shoved a sock puppet on my tail, I daresay I might react somewhat like that. Maybe.

Okay, that's a lot of 'if's.

An arctic wolf looks out over the tundra from his vantage point, waiting for signs of the caribou herd.

I wanted to try several different techniques with acrylic while trying to learn how to paint, and this is what came out of that experimentation. This is NOT a digital piece, but a real acrylic painting currently in a private collection.

Wendy was one of Xenya's first big crushes back when the girls were younger, but pretty soon those feelings faded away since they were only one sided (and way later Xenya found other interests with a certain man). They still do share a very strong bond together, even though only a platonic one. <3

This is a self portrait of myself, dedicated to my late brother, Romeo, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 21 when I was 14. When I was young, around 9 years old, and my brother would come home from hanging out with his friends, curious me would ask "where were you?! Where did you go?" He would joke and say "Somewhere over the rainbow." I really thought he was serious, and he even promised he would take me there sometime. As a kid I always imagined what that place 'over the rainbow' would look like, and I couldn't wait until the day I could finally see it formyself. This painting is a representation of that place that resides in me..

I've been wanting to draw these two ever since I saw the original consept-arts of Disney's Sleeping beauty at the Tennispalatsi museum this Spring, but never had a good moment to do so till now. The final idea was inspired by the Sea life aquarium and poses by a scene from Dragon's lair-game.
Purr, lots of pretty, slimy fishes.

Two weary travellers wend their way up the broad avenue of trees, happy to have reached the comfort of home, as the sun dips to the horizon in the west.

In the brief for this piece I was asked to convey a vast elven/druidic tree city; Tall Trees.

I wanted to create a relaxed, atmospheric, feel to the place. Setting it at sunset allowed for the strong slanting yellow light, which helped me pick out the receding form of the trees, whilst adding mood to the setting.

Memories smell like flowers

I painted one of my fav photographs from Nadya Kulikova [link]. This painting was great lesson in terms of light, transparency and using limited amount of colours, not to mention curtains !. I still look back at this piece and wish I could have improved some stuff, lines for one thing.

Seven Wonders- The Holy Tree

Meet the tiger "Strayer" who searchs for Seven Wonders of nature!

um... this is special personal artwork (rather an experiment) which I got wildly inspired and to do something different... and improve my fucking watercolor skills
Begin inactive in Jan, i wasnt at home but i've seen how khaosdog was greatly improving with her watercolors, her art was amazing... so I thought i shouldnt have giving up with my horrible watercolor skills. I think I havent been drawing for long time because of my lack inspiration and my style-hating lol. But thanks to khaosdogs art and my friends from Fan Club of Art uni to "push" me back onto drawing.
An advice or good critique about my crappy watercolors is welcomed :3

Most interesting on this picture is not tiger, but that tree's branch which is turning into holy stone - because I used special materials for experiment. It has 4 layers- under is dyed watercolor, on this is real crushed pearlshell, shining pigments with salt and top is covered with cracked crystal.

And it ended as a successful experiment. Now this branch is 3D and looks like real stone.

This picture is registered and numbered (symbol and number is available on back) in Fan Club of Art. What it does mean?
I will explain later, in journal maybe.

This original picture goes as a gift for ~DarkTiger-ex which I promised to draw tiger :3

Materials:
-22x34 cm Strathmore bristol (thanks very much, plexar! <33)
-Ecoline ink and Reeves gouache paints (any suggestions for good watercolors, please?)
-crystallization chemics, pearl shell, shiny pigments and dyer
- 4 days working with breaks, so overall i think 9-10 hours

Six hundred years ago, Finarfin watched his five children, granddaughter, two brothers, nine nephews*, and niece leave the Blessed Realm to wage war on a dark God in Beleriand.

Now, six hundred years later, he finally enters Beleriand at the head of an Elven army to finally overthrow Morgoth... and finds that the only one left of those above is his daughter Galadriel.

A missing scene I never even realised was there. I found it last week and it was staggering.

From J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion.

Painted with coffee on Hahnemühle Torchon paper. Tutorial's here:

Note #1: I realised later that there's a chance that, due to Elven dying and being re-embodied in Valinor, there's actually a large chance that Finarfin has met all of his sons and granddaughter again even before this scene takes place... but it will still be over six thousand years before Galadriel finally returns home over the sea...

*Note #2: I realise that two of his nephews are still alive - and what an irony that Morgoth wiped out the entire house of Finwë, all except the ones who had sworn eternal hatred towards Morgoth, and who died by the hands of Elves or their own...

Geez,that one took me a while.My Mom told me that there`s a big German art-contest and I should take part in it, so I drew this pic.
Won the 3rd prize for it ( got beaten by some abstract art ).

This is the fish painting that the other fish was a study for--got the composition in the other one, but this was a gift for Eve Forward, a dear friend, and bettas are her personal totem. She had a connection to the first "Spawning Wall" painting and I had been wanting to do a gift for her in that vein for ages--she was pure, unadulterated awesome, and one of my major touchstones during my divorce and subsequent lunacy--but it was only recently that motivation, time, and madness all dovetailed and I was able to paint this.

Bettas, in her lexicon, are about being tough and beautiful in very adverse conditions, and granted that they've found bettas living in the muddle puddle left by a horse's hoofprint, I can't think of much better symbolism.

Prints of this painting are available for $10 plus shipping, but since I've a philosophical objection to profiting off gift art, proceeds will go to a local animal charity.
