A very quick little 5 x 7 for the AC art show.

Weirdly enough, I hadn't ever really re-painted the Biting Pear before,* despite the fact that it got loose on the internet and became something of a phenomenon. (It writes home now and again. I occasionally get photos of it protesting Scientology. I feel good about that.) However, I've had a few people ask for sketches of the pear at conventions (and a couple who want photos of themselves with me and the Pear, who are apparently delighted to have found the original creator.)

Still, getting ready to go to AC, and thinking about fursuits and things that wear animal costumes and...um. Feels like I'm doing fan art of my own stuff, somehow, but there you are.

(Look, I get WEIRD before an art show, okay? Just go with it...)

*There's a tiny one off in the distance of the "Great Eggplant" painting, but that's it.

This is part of a series of portraits of people who dress up in costume as a hobby.

In her own words:

There are three unwritten rules: you don’t take your head off around non-suiters, you don’t talk while you’re in costume, and you don’t give out your real name. When you’re in costume, you’re in costume. You are associated with your character and not your real name.

Throughout my life, I drew myself as some sort of animal character in comic form. I was a cat named Naomi, then a dog, and now I’m a ferret, because people have compared me to a ferret! Drawing these comics made me laugh to feel better, and then I found out that other people did this, too. It’s all about expressing yourself, it’s another type of art.

There are people who do this in a sexual aspect. Would I? No. I think it’s stupid. Someone worked really hard to make these costumes, and then they would cut a hole in it, or mess it up. You can’t put the costumes in the wash, either, they would melt!

I use costuming to entertain others. It’s fun! On Easter, a few of us went to the park and played with the kids. If I can make a nice costume, I would like dress up for Humane Society events to help raise awareness.

I do it just to have fun. We act like a bunch of goofballs!

Mature Filter: Obviously two fursuiters bumming is a natural and beautiful thing, but some of you prudes seem to think it isn't!!! So it's been filtered, because you meanie heads don't understand real art!!

[EDIT: I noticed that the camera's picture wasn't even half as vibrant as the original, so I went in and added more saturation, and changed the hue so that there was less warmth in places there shouldn't be.]

[But you probably wouldn't notice, anyways. It's a minor edit.]

Since apparently colored pencils don't like me very much -.- I've started doing something a bit different. Now,I use slightly watered down acrylics. Since the paper wasn't very thick and I didn't want it to dry all wavy, I started smoothing it out... bad idea. I accidentally ripped the thing clean in half x~x *coughs* So, I taped it in the back and glued it to a piece of construction paper. Luckily, now its barely visible (see?) Comments and faves much appreciated

This is a Christmas present for one of my dearest friends, Kitsuneru. The wolf depicted is her "fursona", Diiania. I tried to make this as pretty as I could, and I am quite satisfied with how everything came out. All those strands of fur were a huge (insert profanity here) to do, but they came out nice in my opinion.

This was of a few different mediums, those being graphite, charcoal, ink, and watercolor paint.

I took a few shots of this while it was still a work in progress, and I put them together in a little thing showing my process. Check it out!

Have you noticed that whenever I take a hiatus, it's because I'm working on improving? >_> Very rarely do I vanish because of real-life troubles. Eesh.

Anyways, this is ~DessyluvsUF's character Destiny. Hope you don't mind that I experimented a little with watercolor pencils, Des. ;D And I'm sorry about the purple tints. They came out too vivid in the scan.

This is dated with the wrong month. /shot/ I drew it on the last day of February, but our scanner has been AWOL lately and I couldn't scan it.

I'm also on a hiatus because I'm building a fursuit. C:

Cel version of Coren. I like to make cel paintings o OCs I want to make costumes of because cel art tends to simplify down the design to toe core components. It really makes me think about what the character beedsl. Also it's pretty and I love old school animation so that helps too

Picture kind of sucks. Who knew that sheets f plastic would hate being photographed?

he is a zombie doggy-hybrid thing C:, yeah i know the shading is really bad and the coloring is too but im working on this, its taking awhile though cause i suck at coloring n stuff DX
so yep, i REALLY want to make a fursuit of him, which i plan to do......later after i make my main fursona, diamond, who i still need to upload a picture of....ugh....

My friend ~SoVeryFaraway was up at my house recently so she could attend the local furmeet, and we had an awesome time! I was so happy to finally have a friend over! She wanted to go suiting one day, but realized she had forgotten to make herself a badge! I rummaged around my room to find a scrap piece of illustration board, and I made her this sweet little badge She was so excited when I made it for her, and she was incredibly grateful! I made this right in front of her, so it was a joy to create work for someone while the person is right there!

Got bored so said to self "you havent drawen you character in a while" so picked up my tablet and started doddleing. The mane and neon markings glowing was a knew idea ,but i think it looks good on her XD

A diffrent view on furries / antropomorph creatures

This is one illustration of a whole series I'm working on.
I personally am intrigued by the furry and antropomorphic fandom, and all the up and downsides that go with it.

Many people discuss how the term 'furry' should be defined.
I however think it's a subculture or intrest like any other.
I'm not going to say much more simply because my English writing skills don't allow me to express myself properly about this.

In art we had to paint a picture only expanded by two times the squares in one direction to make it surreal. (Realistic with elongated features) so I took a picture that I had taken a while back [link] that I had added previous effects to and painted it elongated it.

The reason I didn't put this in surrealism is because even though it's elongated, it still kinda looks normal.

I got really bored in my first 3 hours of school (Visual arts studio, Senior project and then another visual arts studio) and since I havent gotten the materials to make my shark fursuit, I've been water coloring ponies to occupy my time and so my demon of an art teacher wont beat me.

These 2 were my first, and done on canvas paper. AJ is too dark, and I dont like the way pinkie came out. So I'm going to be be selling these together. At the lowest price possible xD I post a link to an auction soon.

My furry masterpiece.

This is the first real painting I've ever completed. The concept came about over a years ago in art history class as we were studying Picasso's "Guernica." I made several sketches (which I may submit later) and kept them tucked away in a folder until recently.

The goal of this was to portray a convention floor in a literally two-dimensional way. Like Picasso would! I know I met my goal, and apparently others liked it as well. From what I understand the Pittsburgh Toonseum purchased this piece.

Sold at the Anthrocon 2011 Art Show.

A huge image done with Watercolors.
The reason it's in miscellaneous?
I cannot figure out what section it should go in since it's a costume design for a fursuit of a character from a manga series (Wild Half).

I always go to Anime Expo, but I haven't done any cosplaying as of yet. I bet you think it's silly, but I really enjoy dressing up for Halloween (Usually as a werewolf) and scaring the heck out of the little kids. There's some great photos I have from the Photo People with my older sister's daughter where I was the big bad wolf and she was little red riding hood.
And because Anime Expo is at the Anaheim Convention Center, there's tons of chances to greet excited little kids coming over just for Disneyland. However, I only think the few fans that know of Wild Half and anybody coming over from Japan would know what I am.

Since I know my own costuming isn't that great (see my Hyena Costume back from High School in the gallery), I would be interested to get it commissioned for any of you fursuiters out there. Not only will I supply this image, but also scan my Wild Half mangas for reference pictures. And I'm willing to pay once I save up my money.

Wild Half hasn't been translated as of yet, and yes, the comic/manga deals with 'Weredogs' in a sense. However, this costume is of Salsa's dog form and not his half-human half-dog form (A human body on top, and a dog body below) or Full Moon form (Think of a werewolf with a few extra tails).

Wild Half and Salsa is Yuko Asami's.

Ikes dark sides

Now this picture makes me feel goth...... but oh well it was my first time drawing ikes dark sides and it felt go to draw his old version again (heads up his old version is the one on the left thats blurred)

I love this character so much he is one of them characters that will never back down no matter the problem. i feel like im insane...........LOL. he is stronge and trusting and you can always trust him but he dose tend to cry once in the book about him i wrote which when i get better will be a manga.

hope yall like this picture its one of those pictures i love it and P.S. he is the one i wanna make into a fursuit hes awesome and which side of him should i do his old self or new (old on left,New on right)
