I was reading about:

In my opinion, these ‘difficult’ questions about what is consciousness and what is not, so aptly describes the first little female ape whose brain began firing up in different ways to all the others.

Many millions of years later, we still call her “Mother Africa”

The other apes of her own clan all thought she was really crazy when she decided to get down from the tree house and move into the fearfully dark cave under the ground, where it was marginally warmer than the bare walls of the tree tops in winter and a lot safer and more optimal for the survival of the little ape-ette that clung to her opulent and milk stuffed breasts.

There was a big outcry and the chief of the clan came roaring along with his gang of enforcers to protect the girl from herself.

After they had dragged her by the hair back to the harem while the little geeky ape-ette shrieked in heart rending cries for someone to help her mummy, the chief and his gang then decided to make the cave their own instead of hers because they couldn’t be seen to be undermined or compromised in their position of top ape when everyone else thought her ideas were brilliant and very out of the box and theirs were old and stale.

From that day forth, the huddling and cuddling in the cave and the boredom of silence or intelligible grunting began to play heavily upon the new cave dwellers and they began to play games of;
• ‘A grunt and a flipped middle finger means’; “You idiot without a consciousness….you need to find yourself In order to find a mate in order to be seen as successful in order to leave this cave one day and find a cave of your own to dominate”

Or

• ‘A double grunt and a wink means’; “I am a damaged ape like you, so be kind to me?”

And so it went on and on in games of playtime at sunset without much else to do except imagine what it could be like to be warm and safe and healthy and loved and interested in the world outside of the cave when all the wild animals moved away and the rainbows came back from heaven and the nice angels arrived with harps and golden halo’s to take them to the other side of much nicer kinds of living experiences.

Many eons passed in this way until today’s date of the year BC 2012, where the stories and the mythologies have created the ideologies that have damaged our psychologies to such an extent that the actual animal apes are way better and nicer to their kids than some of us are.

Which means that having a conscience does not necessarily guarantee every new born human being a birthright to health and safety on planet earth today whether they or we are conscious or not of the flaws that mother nature has written upon our brains in the indelible ink of trying to survive against almost impossible odds, even that of natural selection amongst the hit and miss scenario of giving birth to enough cannon fodder to make it work.

Horrific and cold hearted and narcissistic human nature can however be healed and helped by clever and kind and out of the box thinking sorts of people who have evolved out of the egocentric patterns of misbehavior inside the cave mentality of nothing can bring about change except annihilation and destruction of the majority in order to uplift the minority.

Which means that the evolution of a conscience was the trigger that started up the guilt that started up the cuddles that created the conscious mess of everything human about the ape mentality that was not optimal for the health and safety of its own species? ]]>
