Backstory: A little while ago, my sister approached me with an idea. She's doing an education degree, and her and her friends had to give a series of lessons on the geological sciences to a class of primary school kids. One of their lessons involved teaching the kids about the structure of the Earth. One of her friends came up with the idea of presenting a model of the Earth made out of cake. So my sister asked me if I could make a spherical cake with all the layers of the Earth inside it.

I told her I couldn't do it. "How do you get a sphere inside a sphere inside a sphere?" I recall saying. "Oh yeah," she replied, realising what it would involve.

I spent the rest of the afternoon thinking about it. I don't admit defeat. Ever. But especially not with cake. Nothing is impossible is pretty much my baking motto, so to say this cake was impossible left me feeling weird. There had to be a way. A way that didn't involve carving or crumbing the cake. I kept mulling it over until I had a breakthrough.

I actually ended up coming up with a couple ideas, but I couldn't do my Plan A due to equipment restrictions. So I went with Plan B: baking a cake inside a cake inside a cake.

Tech details: The inner core is vanilla buttercake, the outer core is lemon Madeira sponge, the mantle is orange Madeira sponge. The 'crust' of the Earth is made from buttercream, then it's all covered with marshmallow fondant. I marbled a little white fondant through the blue to make it look like clouds. I hand cut the continents then painted them using food colouring and a dry brush technique. The continents took me about 6 hours straight and I'd be lying if I said I didn't end up hating it. What started as a determination for pin-point accuracy became 'let's get this shiz done'. The painting took probably 3/4 of that time. It took 5eva. But I'm glad I did it because I think it looks a lot better then plain green fondant would have.

The first tangible result of my last 2 months of work.
It is not perfect.
Actually, it never is, but I'm a little closer now to making
her like I imagined.
It is made of artificial resin and epoxy putty.
The translucent mane was
a lot harder to make than I expected, the mistakes are virtually
impossible to correct, because it is not painted, but it is coloured
itself and transparent.

For the record I'm not a pokefan. However, I remember when Pokemania invaded the country, the TV series, cards, games and all that stuff but what really baffled me was that the first movie never came to theaters here. I dunno why, there's now way I could have missed it cuz I was .... ahem well..sorta ...anticipating for it and I kept checking the schedules. And it never did show in cinemas. I ended up watching a cam version from a DVD you could buy in the sidewalk. Did I miss it? I dunno. I remember my little cousin going ape shit when I showed it to him cuz apparently he never got to see it in the big screen either. He called his cousins over to watch it LOL "There ya go you little pokebrats enjoy!"

A little key for a big doors^^

This little dragon reminds me a coffee with milk^^ Or a siamese kitten

This dragon is small, 4.5 cm from the horns to the tail! Nothing painted.
The key and the chain is metallic.
_{Hand sculpted from white, golden and black polymer clay, no molds were used.
Unique one of a kind necklace, I can't do the 100% same again.
Polymer clay commissions are closed, the only one way to get one of this unique necklaces is waiting for the time, when it will be available on Ebay or in my Etsy shop.}

I did the original render in the same pose for an exhibition and gave some prints in 2011. I saw it again a few weeks ago and I thought it was awful, so I decided to re create a new one with a better look. Final render is 10200 px tall, too bad fur gets lost at this resolution.

Wide Panorama from Großer Buchstein across the Gesäuse National Park with the peaks of Hochtor and Reichenstein Group (from left) in the first sunlight.

After spending the last two week traveling in Germany and Austria I’m finally returned and started to processes the images. I started in the Hainich National Park in Thuringia to shot some beech forest but I was less lucky with the conditions. HoweverI was compensated with some great light last week in Styria. Look forward to some great mountain vista, whitewater and underwater images!
