The description of Luthien as Beren sees her first in the Silmarillion:
"Blue was her raiment as the unclouded heaven, but her eyes were *thinks* *looks for original text* grey as the starlit evening; her mantle was sewn with golden flowers, but her hair was as dark as the shadows of twilight. [As the light upon the leaves of trees,] as the voice of clear waters, as the stars above the mists of the world, [such was her glory and her loveliness; and in her face was a shining light.]"
The first one in [] I forgot because I had written it in Tengwar so I wouldn't have to think about it... and there two lines began with "as the" and I acidentally missed the first one... and for the second [] there was no space.

I'm really proud of my nightingale!At least it looks like a bird. And of the elvish element at the bottom (even if it doesn't really fit). It was supposed to be three birds each side, but now there are many more (I know about five or six).
Just think I should practise thin lines and try to standardize the room between words. Oh, yes, and stop using so much gold

And if I get hands on a scanner, you'll get a better picture. Just couldn't wait to show it!

the first assignment i had done in another one of my art classes, and i'm rather proud of how it turned out.
its done of my character, delphi, depicted in words that describe the kind of feelings she's hiding behind her tough mask that she had in the past. all the shading on this picture is made out of words.
the style is one that i'm sure not a lot of people have heard of these days. its called micrography. its like typography, only traditional. its actually pretty cool, and only as tiring as writing a 10,000 word essay... four times. i dunno, its a heck of a lot of words this chick has.

As an author (Not published nor ever been to a book burning) I see my stories as children. And so people burning authors' hard work is like murdering a child!
I don't believe anybody should have their books burned! Hell not even Stephanie Meyer deserves it! (I hate the Twilight series though.)
I'm sure it pains an author to know their stories get burned. I mean it's one thing to ban the books. You're saying Ok I won't destroy them but I don't want my children reading them. That's actually better than burning them!

It kind of also makes me laugh whenever I see the banned books list. The classics are almost always on there like To Kill a MockingBird, 1984, Animal Farm, the Bible. Now ok yeah I'm Catholic but I haven't read a Bible since third grade. I actually am left un-debated on that issue...

My point it, don't burn books! It's like murdering children of authors who worked very hard to write their stories and I'm sure they've been through hell publishing the stories only to have them burned? See how unfair that is?
Burning books won't discourage people! Burning books won't stop them from wanting to read the books! Having them banned won't stop people either. Hell, I found out about To Kill a Mockingbird from a book series and the book in particular was about book banning. I asked my dad about it then asked if he cared if I read it. And he said no, he didn't care.

I'm trying to remember what book was it that I bought just to spite the book banning....I believe it was 1984 by George Owell....I think....






I have no idea where this rant came from.....just randomly thinking I guess.
