Jareth themed Nails

Labyrinth is one of my favourite films ever, and was my ABSOLUTE favourite when I was little. I could never understand why Sarah didn't wanna just stay in the castle with Jareth.. Haha.

I have made some nails with the Worm on before ([link]) but had to try some more, and probably will still make more Labyrinth ones in the future. These ones are more Jareth themed, with him on the thumb (sooo pleased with how he turned out!), Toby's babygrow pattern on the index finger, the owl on the middle finger, one of Jareth's floaty bubble/ball thingies on the ring finger and the peach he uses to drug-up Sarah on the little finger (I was so tempted to paint the notorious 'bulge' in there somewhere but decided against it, haha).

These pretty much took me all evening, mainly due to the thumb nail. But, I did manage to make it pretty sturdy so it should last through at least one wearing My Mom suggested I make it into a brooch/badge after which I think is a pretty good idea, and should be quite simple to do. Also, when I wear them I think I will just pair the owl and Jareth with plain black nails. I've took another photo of that plainer style but couldn't decide which one to upload (my sister chose this more crazy one). Might upload the other one another time

When I found out the Henson company cast David Bowie because they wanted to combine puppet technology with rock, my first thought was "Why didn't they cast Alice Cooper if they wanted that?" This was before I found out 'Glam Rock' was an actual term.

I still think Alice would have made a kickin' Jareth. Of course then the theme song wouldn't be Underground so much as Welcome to my Nightmare ... and everything would look like The Bog.

He was a self serving son of a bitch, there was no doubt about that. Grumbling in her mind she brushed her teeth viciously as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. He had nerve and never seemed to think for a second there was anything wrong with that. Pulling her tooth brush from her mouth she spit into the drain and cleaned her mouth with warm water, thinking of every flaw possible. Most defiantly a narcissistic, rude, callous, cold and utterly nerve wracking. Wiping her mouth she stormed from her bathroom, flicking the light off as she entered the dark bedroom. Flipping on her lamp she sat in front of her mirror and began to brush her long dark tangles out. The balcony door in her room was firmly shut and locked and it would stay that way. If he thought for a mere second she was going to welcome him back into her bed he was a fool. Tugging at her hair she hissed at a snag that pulled hard on her scalp. Allowing a dark curse to pass her lips she calmed herself down with deep breaths. Closing her eyes she counted to ten and imagined Ludo playing in a field of flowers with his pet kitten, Mew. Smirking at the silly image she felt the tension in her shoulders drain. Leaning into her oversized chair she began to genuinely brush her messy locks.

If Sarah considered it she grudgingly admitted that for a goblin king he was fair to her. When he could he would visit her in the evenings and her dreams where filled with his presence. That was all he could offer her truly and she knew that. The underground was where he belonged and Sarah lived in the aboveground. Struggling to look after the theater she had just managed to purchase she had little time for anything beyond renovations, hiring staff and losing herself in endless paperwork. Most certainly she was far from ready to even consider not living in the aboveground. It was not something they discussed ever, not truly at least. Hoggle had informed her that the goblin king had made it clear Sarah would one day live in the underground and that every single being under his influence was to respect her accordingly. It had been a strange sensation to be so utterly angry and deeply touched in the same breath. Somehow living in the fantastical place was not has bad has she had imagined the thought should be. During the solstice and equinoxes the paths between worlds thinned and Sarah had actually visited the goblin kingdom willingly. It was definitely a land that lived in the moment and far from anything else. Loud, wild, and utterly chaotic with a baffling sense of orderly conduct that was far from anything proper. Chewing her lip she tried to thing of a clear way to explain the strangeness that was the goblin kingdom, hideous beasts running amuck, tripping over their own feet, wild celebrations for chickens birthdays and bizarre festivals for an reason anyone could think up. The festival of shoes but no socks making her shake her head with a chuckle still. That realm was defiantly an interesting place, boredom seemed impossible there. Sarah found she liked the unique land well enough but was far too attached to her mortal home still. And so the very idea of leaving was still heavily rejected in her consciousness. But maybe one day some stray thought murmured unnoticed.

Putting the brush down she thought to braid her hair but stopped. No doubt if she did he would just undo it anyway. She would wake up with a tangled mess that needed to be combed through all over again either way. Huffing a irritated breath she again observed herself in the mirror with speculation. Sarah refused to live in the underground and the goblin king could not abandoned his responsibilities to meander above with her. This was their place in between, full of compromises and frustration but all either of them was willing to give at the moment. Truth be told Sarah knew she would give up the aboveground one day, not completely, never completely, but her sacrifices would not effect the well being of entire kingdom.

So he had been away for a few weeks, Sarah knew he would have a good reason for it. He was a leader and leaders had to deal with things. Rubbing her temples she leaned forward and the flopped back into the chair. Glaring at the reflection in her mirror she bit her lip and scowled hard. Sarah had learned to scowl from the best and she thought she looked rather intimidating with a cold mask on. But it did not suit her, he had once said and it was a truth. Sighing again she sat up and stood from her chair with exaggerated movements.

Going to the closed balcony doors she pushed aside the curtain and peered into the night sky. Perched high in the tree at the edge of her backyard was a large owl. Frowning she watched him as he watched her and then with a shake of her head at her own lack of resolve with him, she unlocked the door and turned the knob so it sat ajar. Turning her back she walked and flicked her lamp off before making her way to her bed. Letting the soft down sink in around her as she sat she briefly considered being angry. But truth be told her heart would not be in it and so she disregarded the idea. A soft rush of wind and creak of the door announced his arrival. Slipping her lose robe down her shoulders she lifted her legs fully on the bed and turned to beckon him.

“We can argue later,” she told him easily, her hair falling over her shoulders already.
“…for now lets just be.”

Description
Such a cheezy sounding line I know, but that's all that I could think of when I drew this out. I used the scanner to help amplify everything that was too light to see. x___x

If I ever choose to color this in, I want to throw the owl in somewhere (digitally of course).

I could go and rip apart what I don't like about this, but whatevz. xD How Sarah's head is tilted, I think that reeeeeally needs to be fixed. I also didn't have a reference on hand for Jareth's hair so it's a bit of a cluster-f. xDD Go ahead and comment!

Might scrap this later. xD

I've been on a Labyrinth high for quite some time and I finally watched the movie (again) earlier in the week and spat this out. :>

I have two other sketches that I'm working on that will require more detail and me coloring them in digitally but I'll still share my sketches with y'all.

And I have a muse that actually triggered something in my brain for the 2nd doodle which I will explain when I've completed & submitted the sketch.

Our very own is hosting another competition over at , this time the category being "Franchise It". I had about a dozen different ideas for this one, but in the end they all fell through due to time constraints and animation timetables. However, I like to try to contribute in any way I can to this little group, so I threw together this "quickie" entry.

And if you can't figure out by now which franchise I'm spinning off, then you seriously missed out on a childhood!

'Tis my very own Louis Despatis, flamboyant pirate extraordinaire, dressed as Jareth the Goblin King from 'Labyrinth'. This, of course, means he's decked out in more glitter than should be legally allowed, because he's already a bit of a glittery poofter without the added Goblin-ness.

And his niece, Celeste, as Sarah, naturally; because Louis would move the stars for no-one but her.

Coloring techniques and palette is a little tip-of-the-hat to , who's Labyrinth art and wonderfully quirky webcomic 'GND' kept me going through many an angsty day as a teenager.

Fog pools on the path – a dirt path, overgrown and marked with roots and brambles, no longer pavement – and coils upwards and downwards, in and out and over and under, seething like so much boiling water –

- and then pours itself into a shape, first dimly outlined, then stretching and solidifying into some form approaching that of a man -

Sarah’s breath is the only thing that sounds in the forest that now stretches around her. She hears her own shallow sips of air as starlight shines on the writhing fog, as a gust of cold wind takes on its own color and burnishes the contorting and changing figure, as moonlight warms the arms and hands suddenly outstretched, and gleams on the face turned up to the night sky –

- and burns into her mind the image of someone she knows, from long ago, reaching up and pulling part of the sky, black strewn with stars, down and around his shoulders -

Sarah looks, openmouthed despite herself, as the cloak tumbles to the ground in a sweep of soft darkness, and as stars fall, gently, to settle in windswept hair and make a crown.

Then she feels the bottom drop out of her stomach as the figure turns to look at her, and walks smoothly towards her, flowing over the bumpy roots and through sharp branches. Those same branches twist back from touching it - their wild jerks and snaps should be audible, but there is only silence.

A whisper comes to her from her memory. She mutters the phrase to herself, under her breath: “It’s a wisp of fog …” (es ist ein Nebelstreif) “It’s a wisp of fog …”

The being stops before her, and smiles.

“Really, Sarah. I think not.”

And any doubt she may have had vanishes – as she hears, for the first time in seven years, Jareth’s voice.

From Chapter 5 of Subtilior's Erlkönig fanfic. Which rocketh beyond anything, except possibly what she's writing now. She does the most amazing Evil!Jareth.
Go read and gape and shiver (and review!) - I have not done her writing justice. I don't believe it is quite possible.

"Labyrinth" is one of my favourite films, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. While drawing I listened to "As the world falls down"- which goes without saying, of course!

My camera isn´t very good therefore the quality is just ordinary...

PS: Fans of the film will recognise that I changed the colours and Sarah´s jewellery.. I love coloured paintings, hope you forgive me!

The drawing was made using permanent maker, and pencil...I tried to make Jareth seem more cartoon-like and Maleficent more human-like to make their pairing work.

This one is also dedicated to as when I asked her if I could draw something for her birthday what kind of fandoms did she enjoy, her answer was for me to have free reign but that she did enjoy Harry Potter and Labyrinth.

I had so much fun last week drawing the Harry Potter one (Click here: [link]) that i had to draw a Laby one, as they are both dance themed (plus I felt a little insecure because altho I felt I did Hermione justice, I sure did not draw Harry well, poor dear, unlike drawing Bowie or Jareth, i just could not get a grasp of Harry's facial structure).

Poor Sarah, she's struggling, trying to understand why she's both drawn to this enigmatic handsome man and also feels that she has forgotten something very important. You can see her turning, wondering what she was searching for, as Jareth sings of mornings of gold and valentine evenings.

Hm, I drew this picture for Studio Art I in 9th grade (2002-2003). I've recently expressed intrest in DA, so I figured this should be my first picture to display, seeing as its the only one I have that looks decent :-\. My teacher chose to display our art on artsonia.com (online photo gallery for schools), and this picture was the only one out of 3 or 4 that turned out not-blurry.

This is a project involving balance and pattern. My subject is a screenshot of Jareth the Goblin King from the 1986 Jim Henson picture "Labyrinth". David Bowie plays this mysterious character; the antagonist (but, at least in my mind, the accomplis of the PROTAGANIST), to Jennifer Connelly, (Sarah). Of the aforementioned, I make no claims to owning them. There are 6 faces on there, one was really cut off. I used Bic Mechanical Pencils to get my shadings from black to white. I used ebony pencil to outline the faces, as there wasn't enough distinction before. Furthermore, and slightly cheated, I used WebFX greyscale to get it to the original colors. My teacher, somehow, managed to tint it piss-yellow through the image capturing. This reflects the actual copy hanging on my bedroom wall.

This is Jareth, the Goblin King (obviously), and Wren, my original character, from my FanFiction, the Goblin King and I. (For anyone interested in reading it, it's at Fanfiction.net, under the same pen name).

Wren is an average, overweight, girl who, in a fit of frustration, wished herself away... and completely didn't expect it to come true. Jareth had spent years brooding over a broken heart, and never expected someone like Wren to come along, much less offer him a hand of friendship. Yes, these two are unlikely, but, c'mon now, Sarah did have her chance, and lost it. Now, it's Wren's turn.

For those of my readers who came here to check these sketches out, this is the outfit Wren wears to their first official dinner. Just FYI.

I was, for the record, very pleased with this drawing. I gave the GK a bit of a make-over, but... it was about time he updated his hair, just a bit, don't you think?

Media: Thread (sewing Sarah was the most fun I've had ever), india ink, shellac, nail polish, gel gloss, matte medium, acrylic, graphite. I REALLY wish you could see how shiny and sparkly it is in real life, especially the bubbles and the eyeshadow. Totally befitting The King of *cough*Sparkles*cough* Goblins.

A Reversed Perspective: Sarah

It's HER! The Goblin QUEEN! Have I mentioned how much I love to write for Sarah? Especially when she's bad. This is her as the Goblin Queen. I did a veration of the outfit Jareth wears out and about in the Underground, his gray pants with those little spots on them and his leather like coat, which i made into a vest. You can't see it here, but the vest has a tail that drags, like Jareth's jacket did. I picture her hair being up and wild, I seem to always draw it to the side. She had a braid of hair thats a headband with two crow feathers near her right ear. I dont think it tickles, but it could. Why dont you ask? She wears the heavy eye makeup like jareth did, but a little heavier since shes a girl and can get away with it.

I read the first chapter, and while Sarah was in her room, the spider of in her hands as she wept. No, Quinn wouldn't have forgotten. But I could just almost see Quinn's spirit around, haunting over her still.

aaaanyway. Yeah, this kinda sucked >_> I don't know, it looked so good when I started out, but I just couldnt get the lines right, my hand kept shaking, and in the end I just finished it like this because it didn't seem to get any better. Strange, usually I'm very capable of getting nice clean lines :/ Oh yes, I did a bit of a new redemption on Quinn XD Whee ponytail XD

Yay! It is finished. ^_^ It took a few days and yesterday I inked it with my stinky Sharpie "fine" point, whatevah. That thing bled all over the place and it looked so good already in just the pencil. GAH! >.< Why, WHY did I do that? *is sad* Not as great as I had foreseen and hoped it would have been but its not bad so yay for me. *twirls finger* haha

Jareth and Sarah from Labyrinth ♥ My favorite movie.
I was writing in my notebook.. but then I felt like drawing so I paused the movie at this scene and sketched em.
Its not detailed as much as my other ones.. but mainly because I was drawing in the dark xD
And.. I'm tired so This is what I came up with.

I know the shading is off.. but like I said... Drawing in the dark=This.

Well! In my third fanfiction, the eldest daughter of Jareth and Sarah called Irina. She is very like her mother, but her eyes are like her father. She is a young caring, a little unsure, and can be a snowy owl. Follows her brother everywhere, and learn a lot from him. It's a bit nosy, and she wants her brother to stop flirting with the girls, and decide for one.

Bueno! En mi tercer fanfiction, la hija mayor de Jareth y Sarah se llama Irina. Ella es muy parecida a su madre, pero sus ojos son como los de su padre. After reading Stolen Kisses chapter 1 and 2 by ~Polgara87 I had to draw scenes from it. It's a wonderful story so far and I recommend it to anyone who loves a fanfic with Sarah/Jareth fluff. (Who doesn't?)

This is during Sarah's 18th birthday when she opens her gift from a "secret admirer". It's a crystal with an Austrian rose inside, so romantic~!
