This is a commission I did recently. The original idea was to have Inspector Gadget roaming around with a magnifying glass in search of clues. But through some happy miss-communication we ended up with a microscope instead, which I think is a whole lot funnier. Also I threw Brain in there for good measure too. ENJOY!

soon to be colored. this is less of the funny inspector gadget, and more a very serious cyborg crime fighting machine-more machine than man. the helicopter portion is emerging from his hat and some of the propeller blades are portions of his hat and his back. his sleeves pull back to reveal weaponry and his telescoping arms. his eyes see in various different spectrums. built for business.

Created for the superhero contest! It's L as Inspector Gadget and Light as Dr. Claw.

I modeled it after the movie poster for the live-action movie with Matthew Broderick and Rupert Everett. You actually get to see Dr. Claw in that movie! I'm pretty sure you never, ever got to see him in the animated show!

I remember when I was little, I use to always watch Inspector Gadget. No matter what day it was on, or what time it was on too. I'd always catch the Gadget man. Lately I've been thinking... I actually want to make a new, Neo Gadget animation. He was a great influnce on me back in the day, like Astro Boy was. I'd think it would be a good idea to revamp him!

...Inspector Gadget sat on the edge of his bed, staring at his hands. There was a clarity in his eyes that Penny had never seen before. Not since the operation, at least. As she watched, the tips of her uncle's fingers opened, revealing just a few of his many gadgets: a pencil, corkscrew, and lighter among them. Penny watched with wide eyes: She had never witnessed her uncle control his gadgets with such quiet finesse. Maybe it had something to do with the odd look in his eyes...

She was about to say something, but before she could, she heard her uncle mutter to himself.

"...Stupid gadgets..."

And now, suddenly, Penny could tell he was quietly crying.

Gadget stared at his hands--or rather, his gadgets. Scissors, syringe, lockpick--all very useful, everything someone could ever want, right here at his fingertips. Except fingertips. Except the most important things of all.

He couldn't feel. He couldn't touch. Though normal to the eye, inside his gloves his hands were hollow shells. What he wouldn't give to be able to run his fingers through his niece's hair, and feel it again. What he wouldn't give to feel the warmth of her hands as they hugged...

"...Stupid gadgets," he muttered, sniffing. He'd been crying for some time now; at least he was still human enough for that. Tears dripped onto his gloves, and he felt a slight tugging in his head as his hat flipped open to reveal one of his many hands, helpfully holding a tissue. It prodded his shoulder gently, offering its gift. He ignored it.

'Gadget,' he thought. ''That's all I am...gadgets. Even my name, now...' He paused, blinking away the tears. 'God, if there is a Hell, it must be like this...'

Sorry for the overwrought scene. I was compelled. I tried to make this piece fairly sophisticated, despite the (once again) lame background...

I wanted to see something like this done with Gadget, so I did it. I'm not too familiar with the cartoon; in the cartoon he probably can feel, but logically I don't think he'd be able to, and I think that would cause a normal person a lot of grief. Then I got to wondering whether his tendency not to notice important things could be interpreted as a defense mechanism to keep him oblivious to the full impact of the change that's been wrought on him; hence this picture. I'm not sure how I feel about the mechanical hand--it adds somewhat of an air of humor to the otherwise serious piece, so I left it in. I'm totally in favor of seeing dark/angsty Gadget, but I like the dash of the old cartoon feel with it too.

This started out as just a sketch to figure out what I wanted to do with a reboot of Inspector Gadget visually. Then, I just got rolling and all this came out.

I basically wanted to do a continuation of the story, but more mature, a little grittier, but still somewhat lighthearted, too.

Penny's in college now and doing P.I. work for extra cash. Brain, as designed here, is a more realistic golden retriever. The most intelligent dog in the known universe. I stole an idea from UP and gave him a talking collar. He still helps Penny on her assignments as her spy/assistant.

I had a mask design for Dr. Claw, but it was recommended I stick to tradition and keep him in the shadows except for his trademark claw.

There you go. Anybody want to try and color this??? Anybody?

Este fue mi primer pinup de prueba para trabajar en el comic del inspector gadget, proyecto en el que aun continuo trabajando...

Esta el detalle de que las piernas del inspector deben ser resortes y no hacen la misma función que sus brazos ( como plantee aqui) , pero dado que se trataba de una prueba y queria darle un tratamiento dinamico al personaje para esta, decidi tomar la libertad creativa de usarlos asi.

Neoato i know Gadgets legs; which, unlike the arms, are supposed to be springs (fact i realized later) i let them like this for this pinup due that fixing them would change the dinamic on the scene and dinamic treatmet i wanted to try on the character. And anyway of course- because it was only a sample art.

Here's one Inspector who's ready to investigate any case, the famous Inspector Gadget! I've redesigned him in 6" scale for a serious, modern look. The main body is a DCD Watchman Rorschach, regular coat arms from a movie Doc Ock, hands from a Mezco Spirit, custom sculpted face over a DCU Question head, spawn Interlink sections for the battle damaged arms, Warrarl tunic pieces for the torn edges, some figma-ish character for the lower legs, and various star wars droid limbs for the hat arms.

Terminator parts were used for his lower legs and Apocalypse tubing for his extendo-arms. I then created a Ragnarok Gadget Arm out of all sorts of different blasters/launchers I had laying around and affixed them onto a ML Cable arm. Various other fodder parts were used and attach to his arms or head to form his gadgets.

Don Adams (of Get Smart fame) as the voice of the gadget cop who always managed to save the day... when it was really Brain and her cute neice Penny doing the major work. Allora, ci tengo a dire che questi disegni sono stati fatti interamente a memoria. Da quando è morto Bruno Bianchi io avevo un vuoto da colmare, ossia di fare una fan art del suo personaggio inquanto, ve lo giuro, era un'anno che mi guardavo in streaming tutti gli episodi anche più volte ciacuno ogni sera dopo cena. Inoltre a Luccacomics avevo trovato dei pupazzetti di gomma degli anni 80 dell'Ispettore Gadget e me li ero comprati, tutta contenta, appena due mesi prima che morissero Shingo Araki e Bruno Bianchi..
Dato però che avevo sempre da fare, la sera dopo cena di qualche giorno fa iniziai a portarmi a letto un'albo da disegno, e, in pigiamone affiancata da matita e gomma guardavo la TV e disegnavo durante gli spot. Sono andata avanti così per una settimana e un pò alla volta ho realizzato questa pagina di matite. E' raro che io faccia delle fan art, ancor più raro che io disegni umani, e quindi immaginate il mio stupore e soddisfazione quando mi accorgevo non solo di esserne capace, ma pure di essere riuscita a disegnare a memoria la versione che preferisco in assoluto. L'ho disegnato a mio gusto e come piace a me, con uno stile che è una via di mezzo tra il mio e quello degli episodi di Shingo Araki. Notate per esempio che gli ho fatto i capelli alla Goldrake/ Grendizer. Sono tanto contenta del risultato e ho colmato il vuoto. Sento il personaggio anche un pò mio. Questo lavoro mi ha dato la sensazione di essere in grado di fare qualsiasi personaggio se la faccio con dedizione e questo mi da energia. Mi sento una vera character designer.
Purtroppo di recente ero avvilita e non riesco più a disegnare PBB con lo stesso spirito. Spero di ritrovare lo stesso entusiasmo anche per quello.
Nota: i quotes li ho aggiunti dopo in base alla sensazione che mi davano i disegni che sono stati realizzati spontaneamente.

Decided to take Inspector Gadget out of the kitschy 80's and generally make him more bad ass. For those too young to remember Inspector Gadget was a generic staple of saturday morning cartoon fare were the hero was a bumbling, forgetful and obscenely clumsy individual who managed to escape sticky situations either by sheer dumb luck or the assistance of various bionic appendages.

With this piece I kinda wanted to reinvent him as a more focused and unstoppable crime fighter by giving him Terminator like qualities.

Might add more to the piece in future, probably give him a better background or maybe include him in an epic battle scene.

La segunda portada que hice para el comic del inspector Gadget. La pose de los personajes esta referenciada a manera de homenaje de una pintura ("El Voluntario") del gran ilustrador americano Norman Rockwell. Para mi gusto uno de los primeros en hacer de la ilustracion un verdadero arte valorado como tal.

This is my deviation for the Hrodwulf contest "Kim Possible and the 80's". A rare crossover between KP and Ron and the Inspector Gadget. Kim is Penny, the smart Inspector gadget's niece, and Rufus is Brain, the super intelligent dog of Penny. And Ron is the inspector! Enjoy it!

What can I say, I saw some killer Inspector Gadget fan-art out there and the mind just started to wander. Somehow these five just fit every scenario.

Not sure how many of you remember good old Inspector Gadget. It was a classic for its time, Don Adams as the voice of Gadget being a major draw card. Brain and Penny were such a great team For those not in the know, Penny always had huge pigtails, and was Gadgets niece, thus the darker skin of Raven in this image, she also always used her book as a disguised laptop thingy to effectively solve Gadgets cases for him, and Brain (Beastboys) collar has a transmitting device built in, Brain did all the legwork in the series, always in disguise, saving Gadget, and at the sharp end of some classic physical comedy. And finally it was the same M.A.D agents in each episode, even though they were always caught in the last. (got to love a cartoon universe, I always suspected Chief 'Robin' Quimby was in on it, thus the joke of the image, but seriously if the M.A.D agent was always Starfire, you would want to catch her every episode! ).

This image isnt as detailed as the last few (it wasnt meant to be) but I hope it came out well enough in its own way.

Was looking for something new after Sir Tofu, and this was rather convenient, got a few comics on the books for this, trying out some new stuff, looking ok so far ^^
