For my concentration I focused on six issues (domestic and global) dealing with mainly social and political problems. I spent several hours on hours searching for source images and just the right word to pair with an image. "Declare" is the name of the organization and "Speak" is the name of the campaign. The aim is to present an issue in a neutral context with the intent to engage the viewer in forming his or her own opinion on the subject and to do research in it.

This is the first in my set of six posters I worked on this semester for my concentration. Here, we see the image of Mexican immigrants illegally crossing the border into the United States.

"Opportunity"

Maybe not the first word you think of when you see this picture? It's easy to avoid seeing immigrants as real people with real needs and to label them as simply, "aliens."

In the past ten years over 2,000 immigrants have died in an attempt to cross the border.

"Consider the all-too-typical story of Josue Ernesto Oliva-Serrano. A Honduran illegal immigrant living in Oklahoma with his American wife and their two children, Mr. Serrano was deported last year following his involvement in a minor traffic accident. (An illegal immigrant does not automatically become a United States citizen when he marries an American.) In September, he perished in Arizona in a desperate attempt to be reunited with his family. He had paid a coyote, or smuggler, to take him from Honduras to the United States-Mexico border, where he joined up with a group of roughly 20 other migrants to enter the United States through the desolate and searing terrain of the Tohono O’odham American Indian reservation in southern Arizona.

According to accounts from the other migrants, the coyote told Mr. Serrano that Phoenix was only a day’s walk away (when in fact it was four days under the best of conditions) and that the two gallons of water he was carrying would suffice. The temperatures soared to triple digits the day the group set out. They ran out of water within hours and resorted to drinking water from cattle ponds. Mr. Serrano soon fell ill. He succumbed to the heat, a victim of hyperthermia and dehydration, the most common causes of migrant death. His mummified remains were found many days later by Tohono O’odham tribal members whom Mr. Serrano’s wife had contacted to help locate her husband.

Or consider the plight of female migrants. Many suffer atrocious abuses at the hands of their smugglers: they are robbed, sexually assaulted or simply abandoned in the desert. When I was in Arizona, I spoke with a man known as Sundog, the caretaker (and sole resident) of a ghost town named Ruby located in the mountainous area northwest of the city of Nogales. One afternoon, Sundog said, he saw a woman fleeing down a hilltop in his direction, screaming wildly. Close on her heels was the woman’s smuggler, who had already raped her friend and was coming after her." (NY Times)

This is what these people go through just to have a chance at making a minimum wage here. To have a shot at the same opportunities we have.

But who is right? Does our anti-immagration policy help keep American citizens employed? Would America benefit from immigrant workers? Should young adults who have been here since childhood be deported back to Mexico along with their parents? What policies should be in place?

Well... *insert nervous authoress here* Here is my story! This story (which will most certainly be expanded into a long running series as per the part 1 at the end of the title) features young 24 year old former Olympian Sammantha "Sammy" Levinsky and Gale Chang.

Samantha spent the first few years of her life in a smaller town in Russia called Tulun which is rather close to Mongolia. Her parents were very poor and lived off of very little as they ran a small goods store, but in hopes to better their daughters life, they sent her to St. Petersburg to a private boarding school where she picked up English. Samantha, having spent most of her childhood in Russia has become fluent in both English and Russian and speaks both quite regularly. Since Samantha is a former professional athlete she is rather wealthy and lives in a large house and works full time in a lab while also going to college to earn a degree in Russian Language and Composition. Even though she is not a proffessional athlete any more, she opened up an Olympic sized water sports complex and has been successfully managing it/running it for a good 3-4 years.

Gale (the man in this story) is ALSO an immigrant. His parents were rather wealthy and affluent business people in Hong Kong, but when they passed away from tuberculosis hisaunt Kim sent him abroad to China. He is about 27 years old and full-Chinese. He has a little girl named Nejiko who is about five years old or so and he came to care for his daughter ever since her mother put him literally in a box on the side of the road that said, "Free to a Good Home." He is incredibly poor and works 3 different low-paying jobs while also attending UCB with Samantha, majoring in Business. His Chinese name is Li Xun.

All characters, their designs, and this story as a whole are copyright to ME and only to ME. If I see anyone else using this work without express written and SIGNED (meaning id actually print something out, sign it and post a picture) you will be first asked to remove the piece and then subsequently reported for art theft. I've worked very hard on these characters and seeing them stolen is terrible.

Julian enjoys gymnastics very much. At school, he's known to everyone as "The Russian Acrobat", due to his amazing stunts and tricks~ He excels in Gym class at school as well. Julian had a hard time adjusting to the new life at first, and only knew Russian and Chinese when he first arrived. The local police called the incident an accident and the man was never charged. Rodney left home and began living with Belakane soon after.

Between 1875 and 1920, over 200,000 immigrants entered the U.S. not through Ellis Island or Charleston, but through this building. Built in 1906, it is currently vacant but undergoing renovations.

Since making Autumn Olive a city moji she has been in need of a makeover. So she got huuurrrrr. I've developed her backstory quite a bit as well. Her parents were immigrants in the city and she was born into a low income household. Her parents struggled to make a living and she was more or less raised by her older brother. Her brother was her hero and her best friend. He protected her from the riff raff in the streets and taught her how to read and write. Autumn had never seen a real oak tree and had always dreamed of going to a forest filled with trees and on her 6th birthday her brother gave her a golden oak leaf necklace that he had been saving up for months to buy for her. She has always been quiet but excelled in all her classes and developed an interest in poetry from the Romantic Period. When Autumn's father died in a factory accident her brother fell into a deep depression that he never recovered from. He became a drug addict. Despite Autumn's protests, he became more and more involved with himself and his addiction. As he continued his downward spiral he became abusive towards Autumn, who only wanted to help. During this time, Autumn was battling with her own depression and her self esteem being shot down by her brother only exacerbated it. In the end her brother died of an overdose, leaving Autumn and her mother alone. Autumn has since gotten a job working at a local diner and provides for her mother.

┊ Appearance ┊

At first sight Anthony appears to be a rather physically healthy looking guy. In this case, his build is sort of similar to a marathon runner’s; tall, slim, muscular in the legs and arms, and broad in the shoulders. His face is more pointed than round, and the same goes for his nose and chin. Skin tone ranges from seasons; in the winter he appears more white than he does in the summer. As for hair, it’s simply brown; it’s curly and not terribly short. Anthony’s bangs go off to one side of his face (they do not cover his whole forehead), and so does his curl (which represents Long Island—it is not erogenous). Other features include high cheekbones, a defined jawline, slightly sunken eye sockets, and a little soul patch right under his bottom lip.

Now, considering clothing, it tends to change throughout the seasons. During winter (or important events), Anthony's wardrobe mainly consists of long, black trench coats with the accompaniment of a white dress shirt and a black tie. However, casual wear during the winter is really typical of an everyday New Yorker; long sleeved shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Also, since the farms and most parks/activities Upstate are on break for the winter, it makes sense to say that Anthony's attire takes on more of a "businessman-like feel" to represent the Downstate regions of New York during this time of the year. As for spring and autumn, it tends to be a mix of both. And, if you haven't guessed already, summer is the main time of the year where his wardrobe expresses Upstate. Why? Well, first of all, summer is the season where most farmers Upstate get down to business, and not only that, but Upstate experiences its highest influx of tourists during this time. Even so, he usually hangs around in a casual t-shirt, jeans (or if it's hot enough, shorts) and sneakers. Sports team accessories are quite common as well.

In a sense Anthony lives a bit of a double life that changes throughout the seasons. Since New York is so diverse (with it’s cities and farmland), he basically comes off as a "countryman" in the summer, and a "city guy" in the winter.

┊ Personality ┊

Arrogant, obnoxious, and rude with an incredibly dry sense of humor is probably what you’ll think Anthony is just from your first conversation with him. But really, there’s actually a bit of a deeper side to him. Sure he has his undesirable characteristics, but he’s really a very loyal, intelligent guy on the inside. Yes, conceited and full of himself, but no, never a fool. He’s not necessarily "always on the go", and actually enjoys having free time to relax and just be himself. Anthony’s a little bit of a softie for nature too; during the early fall or summer he doesn’t mind taking a few trips upstate to the Adirondacks to observe the autumn leaves or hike through the mountains. But when you consider apple orchards, that’s when he gets a little competitive. As expected, he thinks his are the best (better than Washington's), and he frequently partakes in quite a few apple festivals around NYS (the Lafayette Apple Fest, for example). However, business seems to pick up during the winter for him and slow down during the summer, because hey, someone needs to get that cow corn growing.

But the reality is Anthony’s just a little bit misunderstood by people. He may have a rough outside, but his inside is something to be loved. A loyal heart is rare to find, but most people might not realize he has one by the way he presents himself. This comes into play with how most people view New York State; at first thought most’ll think “Hey, it’s just some dirty place with rude people!”, but once visiting, they’ll realize there’s a bit more than the typical stereotype. NY sort of has a hidden beauty that most people don’t think of right away, you have to explore the entire region to get the true feeling of the state. The same goes for Anthony himself, except you need to get to know him entirely before making a truthful judgment on him.

Fighting the Hate

According to the Global Peace Index, Germany is on place 16 of the worlds most safest countries.
The crimes are so few that each and every single one is published in the medias. While TV talks about every single murder, murder attempt and most bodily harm with fatal consequences, the newspapers often even cover smaller things. A local newspaper of a town might list every single robbery or theft, even if it is "only" the theft of the handbag from an old grannie.
Even though violence excists in Germany, it is often restricted to the fights between teenagers or stays inside the "problematic areas" where lots of immigrants, unemployed or poorly educated people live. But those areas aren't that many and they are still pretty harmless compared to most countries. And since Germany has very strict laws about guns, you will rarely find any crimes involving guns (and if, then those are often imported illegaly from east europe).

So, to make my introduction to this fact short:
Finding actual aggression in Germany is very hard, because it is so safe, that a woman can actually walk around at night with only very low chances of receiving any harm. It is a dream for everyone that wants to live a calm and peaceful life and still enjoy the comfort of a well developed and modern country in the center of Europe.
One could think, even a brawl is hard to imagine, at least outside of a soccer game (because soccer is Germanys most favorite sport and many fans take it very serious).
And it is indeed very calm and without any kind of hate or anger.
With one exception...

Some facts:
Germany can't escape it's past.
It probably never will.
Not only push other nations the "Nazi"-button constantly, but Germany is also threatened from within. While there had been groups of people after WW2 that still sprouted the fascistic ideals (which are called "Altnazi", old nazi), there are now new groups since the 70's, called "Neo-Nazi", new nazi.
Those Neo-Nazis consist of young people, mainly male and highly aggressive and hateful. They want Germany to isolate itself, throw out the jews, foreigners and "non-believers" (people that don't "love" Germany from the bottom of their heart). They hate homosexuals, feminists, half-germans (which would include me as being half-belgian) and disabled people and dream of a country, only filled with germans, where the men are the strong knights and the woman are the nice and supporting wifes at home.
Well, Germany hates Nazis, so it should be obvious, that these guys are fought with all possible ressources, right?

WRONG.

Germany is a democracy and proud about this. It has free speech, the right of assembly and it is written in law that all kinds of parties are allowed to apply for goverment (resulting in such weird parties as the poem party and the fairy party, even though they only have a very few members and will probably not even appear on the voting list). And - for the sake to protect these laws, these rights - they accept the Neo-Nazis, as long as they behave "normal" outside of their assemblies.
They are allowed to have a party (the NPD, Nationaldemocraty Party Germany [Germany = Deutschland]), they are allowed to speak about their hate in public and they are allowed to assemble.
Many people have tried to go against this, to get the NPD forbidden, to get those people arrested, to at least stop them from assembling. All in vain, Germany protects these rights with everything it has, including the police.

When Neo-Nazis assemble, then the media calls it a "Nazimarsch", a nazi march. Mainly, because they are actually looking somewhat like soldiers, often marching down the streets to military music. They have banners with hateful words, openly display the Hakenkreuz on their clothes and shout their disgusting ideas out in the world.
The politicians and town goverments always ask the civilians to stay home and don't interact, to not give them any audience for their hate speeches. But even though the german rulers protect the rights and allow all this to happen, most of the population don't want to.
So if you want to see the most aggressive meeting between germans, then look up a Nazimarsch in your surrounding and look at it from a save distance.
Sooner or later, the "Antifa-Demonstration" (Antifa = Anti-Fascism; organizing demonstrations which are often four times bigger then the actual Nazimarsch and consists of people of all ages, nationalities and genders) will collide with the Neo-Nazis, despite the police trying to keep both groups away from each other.
And once they meet, it will look as if Germany is a state of terror and civil war. People of all ages punching each other, kicking each other, throwing stuff, stabbing, burning (Molotov Cocktails), everything. Depending on the season, there might even be explosives (for example around New Year). Each Nazimarsch often results with many people from both sides in detention or hospital.
And, the even sadder truth is:
Those being protected by the police are the Neonazis. Those being attacked (by tackles, water cannons, hydraulic shovels and more) are those demonstrating against it as well as the media that tries to film or photograph it. The police has the order from the goverment to protect those that assembly, thus protecting the Neonazis from the hate they receive from the people living in the houses they walk past by and the people that sometimes come 320 miles just to try and stop it.

And, as additional information, the old man at 2:11 is jewish and had survived the nazi regime while his family had been killed by the regime.
And, just in case you wonder: this Nazimarsch is actually pretty harmless, there had been worse then what is seen here.

Some more facts:
Sadly, the Neonazis get a lot of fuel for their hate which makes it more or less easy for them to make young people join them.
Since most countries openly despise Germany for its past and often discriminate german people, the Neonazis can build on this and tell their people, that this kind of "friendship" with other countries is worthless.
Since Germany is a immigration country and has the typical trouble with that (like people not adjusting to the german lifestyle, living in ghetto-like communities, not learning german, higher aggression rate due to unemployement), they can shout about how Germany supports people without getting anything back.
Since Germany has the trouble of unemployement with young people (even though it isn't nearly as horrible as in other countries), they can get young people to join by promising them work once the foreigners are gone.

They even actually go to schools, giving the children CDs and clothes as presents, which are filled with the hateful propaganda.
Some enter universities to study law, to find loop holes in the laws that allows them more. Many students start a lot of actions against this once they come to know this, like blocking the doors to the rooms for those people, attack and discriminate them and even writing huge ammounts of letters to the headmaster of the university to get those students thrown out, despite the law of "education for everyone".

I realize, that Germany is not alone with problems like this.
I know about the big nazi groups in the USA, in Austria, in Russia, Hungary and France and about the many (illegal) concerts of forbidden bands in the nordic countries. I know about the spread of hate and racism and how many people in many countries seem addicted to the thought of a "supreme white race".
What makes this case in my opinion special, is the irony. Germany had been there before. These people had taken over the country once, had raged war, had been successfull in killing millions. And they still excist.
According to officials, there are~25.000 members of the right scene, 5.600 of those are the highly aggressive Neonazis. And they grow. They become more cruel (for example had a horrific murder series been revealed where three Neonazis had killed nine people (one greek and eight turkish people) between 2000 and 2006 and where the goverment had done more then just a few errors (including destroying evidence for the murders, accusing the immigrants for the murders and more).
It is as if there would be six white guys, shooting black people in public and the police would applaud them and the goverment would try to explain to the media how this was perfectly normal or the deed of latinos.
Germany hates it's past, but - at the same time - repeats it's horrible history in part with ignoring what is important and the people can only watch how their goverment decides over their heads how to ignore everything.

Resulting in germans hating germans.
If you still wonder, why our flag and us being open about being germans is constantly hidden, then you now know, why.
Because if we openly show it, then we look just like them. And there is nothing, that we would hate more then being mistaken for that one thing:
The past that we can't escape.

MLP: A Weevil in Manehattan: Chapter One: Weevil

(A/N) Okay, everyone, I'm back with this new story, A Weevil in Manehattan. It's my take on what if in the future, Changelings migrated en mass to Equestria and in doing so, address the issues that come with immigration and multiculturalism, as well as what is also a comedic, slice-of-life stories of the main character's life. Of course, the twist here is that it's told from the first person perspective of a young immigrant, ie Weevil.

I just want to clear up a few things first. As this is being told through a young colt's perspective, one growing up in a tough urban area, the grammar and vocabulary isn't going to be as stellar and refined as in stories like Maternal Instinct and instead more informal, hence phrases like "Me and Thor" instead of "Thor and I" and the consistent use of slang for when referring to other species (If you do by chance have problems with the slang Weevil uses, let me know and I'll do something like a dictionary in my blogs here). So if you have read my previous works and wonder perhaps as to why this one kinda lacks the grammar sophistication and deep description that they had, there is a reason to it.

I can't always do escapist, fantasy stuff, when there are such outrageous and horrible things going on in the real world. This is a response to the convictions of a Muslim gang in Oxford, mostly of Pakistani origin (plus a couple of N. Africans) who have been convicted of the rape, trafficking, and sadistic abuse of young British girls. This was the latest in a spate of such cases, which have come to light across the country. The cases all follow the same general pattern, with the abusers all being Muslim 'men' of immigrant background and the victims invariably being white. They were lured with alcohol and attention before being brutalised and passed about within often closely-related gangs, and even sold to other abusers, and trafficked to various places. For whatever reason it seems the police and social services have been letting such things go on. It is a great scandal that we as a nation failed the most vulnerable members of our own society so egregiously.

To stay sane and nice, NEVER trust a germans animation movie!

Nah, I think, I choose another introduction for this topic...

As far as I know, a lot of british people had a great childhood. They watched Disney and Beatrix Potter and Watership Down...
No, honestly, I heard that a lot of peoples childhood included Watership Down :'D
I read from experiences with that movie as young as being 5 years old, due to the fact that the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) had rated the movie U (suitable for all), making parents believe that this was just another sweet childrens movie.
And so a lot of children saw bunnies getting attacked and killed by dogs, bunnies, falcons, humans and whatever came along.

But hey, you learn from this, such a thing wouldn't happen again, right? You would make sure that your kids only watch nice movies, right?
WRONG.
German children actually were "endangered" to go through that two times.
I myself watched Watership Down with 7, my sister had been 5 and screamed during the whole movie (my mom had been in the garden, so nobody knew our horror).
And when I was 9, there came a german movie from 1994 on television for the first time.
The description said, it is a animation. About cats. A cat is a detective, researching a dark mystery case. Well, it said "FSK 12" (FSK = Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft = Voluntary Self Regulation of the Movie Industry), meaning that the viewer should at least be 12, but the FSK is more a suggestion for parents then anything and hardly any parents take it serious as long as it doesn't say FSK 18.
And since my family loves cats since generations, my mom was thrilled and made us watch it (while going shopping, since she saw me as old enough to watch the house for a while).

If you think, Watership Down is the horror for a child, then watch the german animation movie Felidae and imagine being 7 (like my sister had been).

Felidae is a movie, made after the book "Felidae" from Akif Pirinçci, a immigrant from Turkey and a successful german novelist.
The movie is one of the rare movies were it actually stays extremly close to the book without any major changes. And while the book had (obviously) only been read by adults, the movie was mainly watched by children (and the few who knew the book already).
And it is indeed pretty much about a cat, named Francis, that moves into a new city and encounters a lot of weird things happening that he wants to stop.
It is the most expencive german animation movie, since it had cost 15 million Mark (which would be about 9 million Euros, considering the changes on the Stock Markets over the last years) and has some of the most fluid and realistic depictions of cats of all times. It had been translated in spanish and english, but never became well-known anywhere (not even in Germany). The main song is sung by Boy George.

I won't spoil anything about the movie other then that it is actually a cat movie full of cruelity, aggression, gore, angst and (even though in a lot less amount then the rest) sex. With cats. About cats.
Yeah...
So Greece totally knows what he is doing by refusing to watch any german animation movie about cats. Because you just never know (since the book series actually has eight equally brutal novels that could all be animated, if wanted).

I've researched more and have more information on the Bull Dog more than some of the other breeds I will be covering. Because of this the history of this breed will be split into two to three charts because it's so damn lengthy the file can't saved out.

_{(( Relations between the People's Republic of China(PRoC) and the Republic of China(RoC, Taiwan) have been quite rocky ever since the Chinese Civil War. Today, Taiwan struggles with trying to be recognized as its own political state, and not a "part of China". This has caused many problems among not just in political terms, but social as well. I have met some very strong-willed Taiwanese people who do not think of themselves as "Chinese", rather "Taiwanese". However, as many people tend to confuse, there is a difference between nationality and ethnicity. Many individuals who claim to be "Taiwanese" are actually descendants of Han Chinese immigrants. Ethnicity is what one's bloodline actually consists of while nationality is the title you receive dependent on what country you were born in. For example, German would be an ethnicity, while if you were born in America, that makes you American as a nationality. True Taiwanese aborigines would be people who resemble more to Indians/Pacific Islanders, not Asians. There are people who are actually of Taiwanese aborigines. Moving on. The Japanese government also reaches out towards the RoC, but in all reality, Japan does not recognize Taiwan as a political state. Many people misinterpret Japan's "help" as actual help, but it is a form of geopolitics. Taiwan is located about southeast of China while Japan is somewhat northeast, meaning that they would have China surrounded as well. Also, China and Japan have improved a few of their trading ties with one another and would side with China in terms of this. However still, the controversy of the Diaoyu Islands(Senkaku Islands) creates conflict between all three of these areas. Taiwan sides with China's claims of the area.

Overall, ties between Taiwan and China are not so crystal clear, but may be getting better if enough understanding is reached. ))}

Let me introduce you to my grandfather mordecai....My grandfather was born in Warsaw in the late 1920's and had lived through the holocaust going from camp to camp. recently my family has decided to take a trip to poland and have my grandfather serve as our guide in some of the places. out of all the pictures i've taken this is my prsonal favourite. it was taken as my grandfather was looking at the ceiling of a gas chamber in Majdanek death camp.

My grandfather survived through the war along side his father but it was at majdanek that my grandfather lost most of his family, so it carries a special weight for him.

Like I said my grandfather survived the war, immigrated to Israel, married my late grandmother, had 3 children, became an officer in the israeli army (i think the equvilant of a colonel) and became an expert in the field of water engineering.

We all have our heroes growing up and some we carry on into adulthood....he is my hero.

Anti Irresponsible Parenting

What I mean by "irresponsible parent" is not a parent that cannot care for their kid (ex: parent becomes severely disabled in a car accident and cannot function normally, parent tries to find a good job to support the kid but simply cannot because the economy is bad, parent works at a job that requires him/her to be away from the home 24/7). My parents were new immigrants when they first came to Canada and my dad couldn't spend time with his kids at first because at his second job, his boss was not allowing him to go home until after midnight.

I'm using the term "irresponsible parent" to refer to a parent that does have the resources, time, energy, and/or money to care for their kids, yet they spend most of it on partying, drinking, drugs, porn, etc, instead of using it to meet the needs of their kids, and they leave the kid to be babysat by someone else most of the time.

I made this mostly because I see too many anti-parenting stamps on deviantART, and if you don't want to be a parent, that's fine! I believe that adoption is important, but at the same time, if someone else wants to have a biological kid, I really couldn't care at all. As long as the parents are willing to meet the needs of the kids, I could care less whether the kid was adopted or biological. Just remember that if you refuse to care for or support that kid that you adopted/conceived, someone will be suffering because of your decisions.

However, I'll state one more thing. If you need to hire a babysitter because you have to go to a meeting or such other important event that kids are not permitted to attend, feel free to. I'm just saying you should be the primary caretaker of your kids. If there are certain times where you can't spend time with your kids, don't hesitate to hire a babysitter. BUT... hire one that you trust and you know has a good reputation.

Several years ago, Gabriella lived in Colombia with her family and worked at a grocery store. As the eldest child, she had to provide for her mother and sisters after her father committed suicide. A childhood friend of Gabriella’s moved to the United States some years before, and he offered to help her move to America every time he visited Columbia. He promised he would help her to find work in a restaurant so she could better support her family. After a year, she agreed.

The next thing she knew, Gabriella was taken to the U.S. and forced into prostitution. Not only was she held in debt bondage for $10,000, but she was told that if she tried to escape, her family would be harmed. For five long years, Gabriella lived as the property of her traffickers. She was moved to a different brothel almost every week, never knew where she was, and wasn't able to seek outside help. Unfortunately, Gabriella’s story is not unique. Polaris Project regularly assists victims of human trafficking who are left without homes, employment, family, or friends. Fortunately for Gabriella, Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) caught her trafficker. Gabriella was rescued through a raid that ICE did on the brothel where she was held. ICE referred her to Polaris Project for services.

Gabriella met with one of our case managers at least once a week for much needed emotional support and comprehensive care. Polaris Project assisted Gabriella in finding an apartment for her and her 2-year-old daughter, helped her enroll in ESL classes, and provided her with employment assistance.

but i've decided her secret identity would be Kira Lucero.
Half Japanese and Peruvian. (I did some research and Peru has one of the largest amounts of Japanese immigrants in it, so it's no doubt plausible)

Failed To Land:
A slightly ASB map. In this world, the decision to land on Normandy is never made and the original plan to land near Calais is carried through. The Fuhrer also decides not to catch up on his sleep and upon hearing of a massive invasion force on his western border, agrees to dispatch panzer divisions. Through tenacity and no small amount of luck, the Nazis are able to beat off the invasion and drive them back into the Channel.

However this in no way saves the Third Reich. Allied aircraft continue their bombing runs, Anglo-American forces continue to march up Italy and to the East the Soviet juggernaut continues to plough through everything in its way. The war does last a little longer and the allies get caught up in the Alps but the war finally ends with the last Nazi forces surrendering in the winter of 1945 with the Soviets at the Channel and the Allied forces shaking hands at Nice. In Asia the war with Japan continues. Operation Olympic takes place in early 1946 and allied forces storm the Home Islands. The Emperor eventually overrules the army after the Americans fire-bomb most of the country alongside signs of the Soviets beginning to mount their own invasion.

The post-war settlement is even more tense than OTL. Unfortunately realities mean that most of Europe is in Soviet hands. With Soviets on the Atlantic Coast, the remaining states of Europe are even more militarised with the ATL Monroe Doctrine being used to turn the remaining states into fortresses. The societies are even more paranoid and authoritarian than OTL. Much like OTL the newly formed Oceanic Alliance (ATL NATO), make a habit of propping up several right-wing states like those in Spain, Cuba and China in order to hold off the communists. Having suffered more casualties than OTL, the Soviets were a little more delicate with some of their conquests than OTL. Communist partisan groups were supported and encouraged in Western Europe in order to keep them compliant whilst the resistive elements of the populations of Eastern Europe were forcibly relocated, often to the more inhospitable or unstable portions of the Soviet Empire where they were less likely to survive. The Gulags were expanded by Stalin in order to accommodate many new rebel leaders.

Things in China go very differently. Mao does begin a Long March but due to butterflies, fails to take the whole country. A Guamintong remnant is eventually propped up by the OA. Without a China dominated by the Communists, the Communist movements of much of South East Asia are eventually ground down and a few capitalist puppets are set up. Korea on the other hand ends up the the same and yet different. The Communist government in the north turns out far more orthodox and even comfortable when Kim Il Sung is killed in the fight. Japan and South Korea, like OTL gain a lot of aid in reconstruction but is encouraged to be far more militarised as a base for further military forces.

The USSR is still going having avoided the atrocious reforms of Gorbachev. They have been forced to make some economic reforms in order to survive and now practice a strange form of socialism that incorporates small scale capitalism to boost the income of the citizenry and some smaller businesses. The USSR has also embraced the Orthodox Church as a way to help promote unity within the Union. A computer controlled economy has been implemented but its effectiveness is nowhere near what was expected. Ethnic nationalism has been avoided and whilst a few nationalist organisations still exist and perform minor terrorist activities, they are becoming increasingly irrelevant. The Soviet economy is still encumbered by their immense military/secret police complex and the bloated and corrupt bureaucracy but the current Premier is a talented and charismatic man and has plans that reach 'magnificent bastard' levels of manipulation.

The Soviet Empire however is struggling. The Warsaw Pact is still chugging along but resistance is growing. The Communist governments in nations like Saxony, Bavaria, the Netherlands and Croatia have been struggling for decades now and require larger and larger Soviet garrisons in order to survive. Moscow has been debating the wisdom in abandoning many of their more troublesome puppets for a while now. The USSR has already abandoned many of the Communist states in the Third World. The Peoples Republic of Indonesia was cut loose years ago and has turned increasingly repressive and fundamentalist. Whilst they have yet to reach the same level as OTL North Korea they have been tightening the leash. The Peoples Republic of China has also stuck closer to the USSR than OTL. Political realities forced Mao to be more careful than OTL. The PRC has also shrunk slightly since the 1940s. Sinkiang and Tibet managed to break off with the former being incorporated into the USSR and the latter spun off as an independent socialist state. The PRC is far behind OTL economically. However since the USSR began to reform they too have embraced the new form of socialism and expanded their small capitalist base. Butterflies also saw China avoid the Cultural Revolution and has allowed China to preserve a lot more of their traditional culture and ideals.

The United States of America is the leader of the OA. Though chastened by the failure of Overlord, the subsequent success of Operation Olympic revitalised American morale. America does have less of a crusader “we won the war” attitude due to the Soviet victory in Europe. However they also do not have the guilt of Hiroshima or Nagasaki on their conscience either. The US is the largest economy in the world but does not have as great a grip on the global economy as OTL. America does have a larger population than OTL at around 350,000,000 due to immigration from Europe and is also far less Hispanic. However US culture is far more conservative, militant and authoritarian than OTL. Due to not having suffered any Vietnams, the military has not been as discredited and is still an acceptable and respected career. The Sexual Revolution never happened and whilst women do have political and legal parity with men and a right to find work, men and women are still expected to follow traditional gender roles.

The United Commonwealth was formed from the remnant of the British Empire. The Commonwealth is a (more-or-less) federal construct with a centralised economy and military force. The UK and the White Dominions had the least problems accepting the conditions of the new structure. It was only through copious amounts of aid money for development that many of the other states accepted. Race relations were a very large issue that took decades to solve and still cause problems in states like Kenya and South Africa. European immigration (and emigration from the UK) helped bolster the populations of many states across the Commonwealth. British culture is more militant than OTL but still very multi-cultural. The back and forth immigration from across the Commonwealth has made the UK a very cosmopolitan nation as well. Like the US, Britain is a far more sexist society than OTL with both gender expected to conform to traditional gender roles.

Japan recovered from the damages of WWII much like OTL. Japan has been forced to remain a more militant nation due to their value in the Pacific. Like OTL Japan has also become an incredibly powerful economic nation. They have avoided the Bubble Economy of OTL and continue to climb. Japan possesses the highest GDP in the OA. Japanese society is also far more traditional and is not yet suffering as bad a population decline as OTL. Traditional Japanese culture is also more prevalent though there is still a decent degree of Westernization. Cultural exports are also as widespread as OTL but found in different areas, conservative America turned out to be far less accepting of anime but the more cosmopolitan Commonwealth was happy to add it to their cultural melting pot.

Technology is a few years ahead of OTL due to the longer and more intense Cold War. Nuclear power is more widespread and researched into in order to find a safer and more profitable form of nuclear power. Biotech is also more advanced due to the USSR being more willing to violate human and animal rights in order to gain test subjects. Consumer products are more-or-less the same as OTL as are computers. There is no internet but there numerous regional nets set up by the various great powers. The Soviet Net is by far the most primitive and patchy but all are censored to some degree or another. Societies are far more conservative and sexist than OTL. Religion is encouraged and far more respected than OTL. However the global distribution of wealth is far different. Europe is far poorer than OTL whilst the portions of Africa within the OA have managed to reach Latin American levels of wealth. Though reports of the Nazi atrocities were released by the USSR, fascism is still seen as a somewhat acceptable form of government by the OA as long as it doesn't go too far with the racism and oppression.

Evanston-West Beach Map

This is the map for a town from me and 's roleplay story. In the story, two kids--an illiterate homeless boy (Ty) and a Tahitian immigrant (Nemo Nakasone)--have to make a project for their mechanics class, but end up making a time traveling blender instead. Chaos ensues as they struggle to deal with the past literally coming to life before them, and soon, their own futures as well.

I originally did this for an Euler circuit project in January. The grid was given to us and we had to decorate it as part of the project, so the street layout was out of my control. I did choose what went on the streets, though, and I kind of went overboard on the detail. Evanston-West Beach is kind of a tourist trap town in California, one of those wrong turns you make coming out of L.A. or Sacramento that takes you to a cheap hotel with cold breakfast and a beach covered in litter. Still, it's not too bad; a few rich people moved out of other places in SoCal to settle in the quieter little town.

So a friend was all "I want to write a story with our WoW RP characters only they're in highschool and humans on Earth because that'd be fun." And I'm all like "hells yeah" so I drew a human-teen-Zar. Only I'm throwing it in scraps because he's got a blank stare happening and I think I can do better than that.

Theoretical story: Human-Zar's dad immigrated on over from Pakistan, where he got married and settled down. But he started to turn abusive when Zar was ten. Things got to a breaking point where, in a drunken fury, Zar's dad went and attacked him with a knife, giving him that lovely scar. Dad went to jail, parents divorced.
He and Human-Thren have been best buds since childhood, as per normal. Thinking Human-Kyali is still kicking around, so there's probably that whole crush with her happening too.
Thinking that he's wanting to get into college, perhaps to study Astronomy. He's pretty shy, or rather, a bit of a grumpy jerk unless he's in the company of close friends. His crapsack childhood has made it hard for him to trust people, it's easier just to be an isolated grouch than to let himself get hurt.

After the Vyntraskan military was effectively established, Dmitri Demichev began having Owen Kyranov design civilian weapons. However, having a single Gunsmith designing for both was creating issues with his work. So, Dmitri began searching for a second Gunsmith to make these designs. He himself did not find this gunsmith, dying before his search came to fruition. The Council of Forty-Four did manage to find one, however. His name was Victor Belov, and originally worked in the factories of Russia during World War II, until he immigrated to Vyntraska in the late 50's. Proven true and given a position, this is his first creation. Having little prevalence in the military proper, it's use as a sporting rifle is to great effect. Many use it to hunt the game in Vyntraska, and many more as a home defense weapon. Some use it for "recreational" use, simply shooting off bottles of cola or vodka. It's wooden frame is able to absorb a large amount of the recoil from this monstrous round, and the rifle can store four rounds, plus a single shell in the chamber. It isn't uncommon for gun owners to purchase after-market modifications for these weapons, including larger magazine mods, and lighter materials. It usually is sold with a round holster mounted on both sides of the stock, removable iron sights, and a scope mount. The scope itself can sometimes be found, but it is usually a basic x4 zoom scope. It popularity ranges from city to city, but as can be expected in any nation; rural areas have very high sales.

Although the aerocraft themselves age, the experience of being near them never becomes old. The stories of the pilots still captivates. Even though the planes are dissembled or recycled and the pilots pass on from old age, the stories, the legends, the legacies, they will live on forever.

The plane making the low level flyby is a P-51D of the famous Tuskegee Airmen, a squadron known as "The Redtails" because the nose and tail of each plane was painted a distinctive red. The plane in the distant is the ever popular Supermarine Spitfire Mk IXB, the mainstay of the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.

Len Morgan (March 23, 1923 – March 11, 2005) was a very famous author know for his aviation novels that captivated all who read them. For well over 20 years, he also wrote a monthly column, "Vectors," in Flying magazine. Although an Amerikan, he volunteered for the Royal Canadian Air Force after his graduation from school in 1941. Later that same year, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on December 7th, which drew Amerika into the Second World War. This prompted Len Morgan to return to his home nation, and join Amerika's Air Force, and would be stationed in Africa and the Middle East. During this time, he flew the P-51.

Len Morgan wrote his last "Vectors" column in 1999. His last words in the column, his reflection, it read "So, good friends, it was good knowing all of you. Goodbye, wherever you are."

Useless Trivia: Len's parents's actual names were Jack and Jill. They both were immigrants who had moved to the United States from England.

I shall begin with the words of my old German textbook: „…kalt, grau, unpersonlich...“ This perfectly describes the Borg.

In the world of Sci-Fi sagas I can think of no anti-hero more personally affecting than the Borg. My first experience with them came as a young boy, aged tenderly, about seven. The film Star Trek: First Contact had just been released. I had just gotten over my years long Star Wars kick, which began when I saw Lucas’ opi at about age five. As a boy, the suspense of the Borg, their grey, sickly appearance, and apparent immortality and invincibility frightened my childish sensibilities. They were hideous, unnatural – that was the crux, is the crux, of the matter.

But of course. I’ve grown up. But my fascination with the Borg has never left me. They are to me, a cultural applique. An apt metaphor. They have always turned my stomach. It recently occurred to me just why this is.

Jung taught Archetypes. I believe in this uniquely Gnostic teaching of his. Oh yes. The Borg are an example of the manifestation of a universal, visceral fear of oblivion. But they are also archetypical of the evils of Multiculturalism and militant Liberalism.

The reason the Borg are such an effect villain is that one cannot label them as such. To aspire to villainy suggests that the one in question has a soul to save. The Borg are neither composed of Ones nor are they ensouled. They are amorphous, titanic, monolithic, but similarly formless, faceless, inevitable.

The Borg are the ultimate End of both Liberalism and Multiculturalism. The Borg deny any individual character because any spark of individuality threatens the plurality. The Unimatrix, the Oneness which came from Manifoldality, is the end-all, the be-all, of the Liberal/Multicultural modality. Consider: the Multicutural mode, encompassed in the American concept of the Melting Pot, is entirely symbiotic. The Melting Pot creates its culinary treatises by removing the distinctive flavours of each ingredient added to the Pot so that they contribute to a new flavour. It is true that in cooking, one can create new dishes of superior value. But a dish is only so good as her ingredients.

The problem with the Multiculturalist, Liberal society that likely produced the Borg is that this entree relied upon utilising the lowest common demoninator. They sought cohesive cultural unity, but did so through force of will. They foisted upon their host this einsamkeit by removing obstacles.

They probably began by censoring with brutal efficiency all that was considered offensive. Greater integrity, they must have mused, will only be achieved when no party involved ever experiences the ouchies. They softened up their host with technology, which would ultimately prove their undoing. It began, I think, with the words “Facebook would like to access your personal records in order that you might use this App.” And then the cell-phone culture. The uniformity of linguistic trends, the disintegration of the individual culpability thus necessitating further reliance on a State, which itself was already in the process of blending all states into a painfully synthetic whole that ignored, and eventually came to abhor, individual notions.

Thought-crimes were soon prosecuted. We see this already in the Nordic bloc where Liberalism has become a way of life, unquestioned except by a fine few. It is ironic then, that the Nordic Bloc is producing the most dedicated Right-Wing rebels. But not surprising. Opposition is a dialectic which must evolve in direct proportion to the force utilised in the original suppression.

Multiculturalism has seen a useful example demonstrated in Sweden, where thought-crimes are punished. Sweden where a man can be fined and tarnished, simply for having minority opinions and displaying imagery which the State and public finds disagreeable, acts as my Nordic poster child. With outright brutality and efficiency the Swedes discourage difference, individuality, deviation from the cultural norm. The State is allowing the masses of immigrant hordes to redefine what is Swedish – they invited this disaster when they turned themselves into a Socialist enterprise. Already, they, like retards with hammers, have taken to the blending pot, are mashing away with gusto. Soon it shall all be kalt, grau und unpersonlich. It is not difficult to imagine their parliament, with one uniform voice, chanting "Resistance is Futile." Of course the irony of this is that this kind of direct repression is usually rebelled against with equal or greater intensity. The rhetoric of the opposition becomes juxtaposed with the propaganda of the oppressor. This is why some of the most hardcore, dedicated Right-Wing thinkers and doers are coming now from the Nordic Bloc, where the assimilation process has already begun. In Sweden and Norway, the rebels are the most “extreme.” Point in case, this guy: ~JPViktorJokinen, (take the time to read his journals) now, you might not agree with all of his views, or any of them, for that matter. But the point is that in a Liberal society, priding itself in its "enlightenment" it appears to lack the security of self to allow for dissenting opnion, which is, ironically, a trait of enlightenment.

Of course. The Borg learned how to quell opposition. Like we are now doing, it seems plausible that they too began with network technology. A Borg child continued the slaughter by clicking "ALLOW" when his screen read "Facebook would like to access your personal files." Facebook then probably used his files against him and had him booted from his thought-crime ridden chatroom. It continues with social shaming. Commercialism. One is not good enough unless they are like all the rest. And technology has become such a white noise that it is hard to hear ourselves think over the humming of Dunceberry cell-phones and all the latest in Reality TV. And when they run out of things to put on Television, people will watch the Static, glowing a sinister green, because they would have by then lost their souls.

And so the State clamps down with ever more impersonal and monolithic force. It does so because it knows that once individuality begins to surface, than it is doomed. It knows that once the people begin to exert themselves, than they (Liberals, Multiculturalists) will quickly become anathema. They seek to mash together what evolved independently, and exists best with homogeneity, not pasteurisation.

And make no mistake. Everything will be mashed. They are neither male, nor female, adult nor child, Q once explained to Captain Picard. These things are offensive to the Liberal sensibility. For in a world where all things are equal, in the end, gender provides a line, a field of battle. Sense the ultimate aim is to create a Utopia in which no conflagration ever occurs, they must eliminate any discrepancies. That’s why Obamacare seeks to provide sex-change operations under “healthcare” because Eunuchs are a thing largely considered sexually unthreatening. They have no race, religion or creed – alles hier ist verboten. And so they become cold, grey and utterly impersonable.

“Your Biological and Technological distinctiveness will be added to Our own.” Like the Multiculturalists, the Borg produce nothing once establish – they only repackage what already exists in blander, and more asinine forms. What has multiculturalism yielded in the United States and abroad? Coca-Cola culture, which, for whom it does not brain-wash, is utterly vilified. Taco-Bell, which is neither Hispanic nor America, serves to acculturate one with diarrhoea, of a cultural and physiological sense. But don't preach it too loud. They'll call you crazy and shut you down by downplaying your points, making you seem paranoid and cartoonish. And why not, Resistance, after all, is Futile.

Being a native to the Empire, Ran's never really seen much outside of it. Her parents were immigrants after a fire erupted in their village. All her life, she'd been surrounded by plenty of fragrances, growing up to embrace nature and the life around her. She didn't grow up with any friends because she'd be too busy to even notice the people trying to talk to her. She would always say the flowers were her friends, causing her to get picked on a lot. As she grew older, she became more and more reserved, crawling into a little shell, if you will. She was afraid of people at that point, and with her claim remaining true that the flowers were her friends, she started to take care of them with her mother, eventually taking over the business.

Ran is literally afraid of talking to people, because of that, she usually hides behind a bouquet of flowers so people don't notice her. this fails most of the time.
She is fully aware if someone is flirting with her, she just refuses to acknowledge it, or she thinks she's being picked on, which will make her cry.

Spielberg has broght back cartoons

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Animaniacs and the 25th anniversary of Who framed Roger Rabbit and The Land Before Time, the unreal characters, Fievel Mousekewitz, Roger Rabbit, Littlefoot, Buster, Babs, Plucky, Dot, Wakko and Yakko are doing the tribute to Steven Spielberg had brought back cartoons. Spielberg's first cartoon production was An American Tail, a make-believe story of a Russian Jewish mouse named Fievel who was separated himself from his family while they're immigrating to the United States. This cartoon was directed by Don Bulth and this cartoon was released in 1986. Two years later, Spielberg and Disney released the live action and cartoon motion picture, Who framed Roger Rabbit. This film has the biggest crossover ever with the characters from Disney, Looney Tunes, and the other animation studios of the Golden Age of American animated cartoons together in one film. This film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Bob Hoskins and Christopher Llyod. The same year, The Land Before Time was released. It's a fictional story of the five orphaned dinosaurs travel the ruins of their world, while grieving the loss of their families and banding together to face the odds of survival. Sadly, Judith Barsi, who did the voice for Ducky, was murdered by her father four months before the film's release. She was only ten years old. Unfortunately, The Land Before Time (1988) is the last Don Bluth cartoon that has Steven Spielberg. In 1990, Spielberg produced a popular cartoon TV series, Tiny Toon Adventures. The show kept on going until Tiny Toon Adventures was cancelled in 1995 with the five year run with three seasons with 100 episodes. Three years later, Spielberg and Warner Bros. launched another popular cartoon TV series, Animaniacs. The show kept on going until Animaniacs was cancelled on November 1998 with the five year run with five seasons with 99 episodes. Two years later, Pinky and Brain, the popular characters from Animaniacs made their own spin off show, Pinky and the Brain. The show kept on going until Pinky and the Brain was cancelled on December of 1998 with the three year run with four seasons with 65 episodes. The same year, Spielberg produced Freakazoid. Freakazoid was cancelled in 1997 with two seasons.
Steven Spielberg did more cartoons in the 1990's like An American Tail sequel, Fievel goes West, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story and Balto. Spielberg also produced the live action adaptations of the popular cartoon TV series, including The Flintstones, and Casper. Spielberg's final cartoon production was Wakko's Wish, a children's fim that as the cast of Animaniacs. Released on December 21, 1999.

Amarantos: Commander Callahan

Occupation: Leader of the Amarantos Police Forces.
Speciality: Cunning, manipulating and ruthless. Is extremely good at sweet-talking people (especially humans) into believing him.
Tools of the Trade: Mainly relies on his subordinates to handle the dirty work, but he's handy with various firearms such as flintlocks and even a rifle. Can also pack a punch in hand-to-hand combat, but is not very agile.

Oswald:
Oswald is a brightly colored, rather foul-tempered cockatrice Andrew keeps as a pet. Rarely taking him out if not during the absolute daytime due to the hungry Jangwa potentially lurking in the city looking for a passing meal, the little beast seems to be one of the only things the man somewhat cares about.

If ever brought to combat, Oswald can deliver nasty scratches and pecks which cause stiffness in muscles and extreme nausea, due to the cockatrices' original petrifying abilites that have been almost bred out of ones used as pets. Also, sometimes Andrew uses Oswald as a message carrier, although these instances are extremely rare and usually in only imminent danger or hurry.

History:

Born and raised in the upper districts of Amarantos, Andrew's parents were rather surprised hearing him wanting to actually make a career in the authorities. Brought up in the small circles of sophisticated humans, the young man slowly learned the ways of the cast system and frankly, seemed to adapt them rather gladly.

Climbing his career ladder, some kind of incident happened between him and a certain Jangwa about fifteen years ago, and even though it didn't leave any physical signs, it changed the man's outlook on life. Not many years after, he (rather suddenly) advanced into the highest position of his career as the leader of the Amarantos police forces, gaining control over the law enforcement of the whole city area.

To this day, he rules the streets via his subordinates with an iron fist. Doesn't engage in fieldwork as much as he used to due to his other duties, but won't pass a chance to see caught criminals being publicly humiliated or even tortured as a punishment for their crimes. Often the sentences tend to be harsher whenever he's moving around with a unit. He also supervises the "test patrols" set for newbies in order to test them at work.

Personality:

Quiet, stern and cynical, however not grumpy but rather indifferent towards most things. He won't usually even look at you while in a conversation unless it's 1. Extremely important, 2. The other participant is of a higher social rank than himself, or 3. He's dead pissed at you and your idiotic actions. in which case you can prepare for the worst. Supposedly somewhat emotionally and/or mentally unstable, but no one's brave enough to question his authority. After all, he does his job well. Maybe even too well at times.

He knows what strings to pull to get people to do his bidding. Be it blackmail, persuasion or simply mentioning the right things at the right time, he's got a gift in steering both conversations and people. You give him a black piece of paper, and he can probably convince you it might look like black to you but it's actually white.

That is, if of course he sees that as a benefit to himself. The guy is the center of his own world, and he cannot tolerate most of the lower-class people. Most Mjusi come off as dumb immigrants to him, aside from ones who've advanced on the social ladder, and Jangwa are an absolute disgrace to the city. He's glad they're mainly locked into the lower districts of the city, and he does his best to make sure it stays that way.

He's also notorious for framing people and proving seemingly impossible things to get people he doesn't like out of the circles he works and mingles in. This has only gotten easier once he became the police commander, as his influence in the city took a leap upwards. He enjoys where he is now, and the only thing he enjoys more is seeing a thief excecuted, jailed or otherwise punished. Or simply dropping people off their careers if they irritate him.

Of course though, no one actually has any evidence against him.

Misc:
-While all Jangwa are complete trash to him, he seems to loathe the women more than men.
-He's naturally blonde.
His eyes have been permanently altered to look like those of a snake. Jokes about them fitting his personality rather well circle the officers during lunchbreaks, but be careful not to let commander Callahan himself hear then or you might have to say goodbye to your job.
-However monstrous he might seem, he seems to have some kind of sympathy towards his subordinates, especially those who've served longer.
-Nobody knows what the incident including the Jangwa was actually, and he's ironclad on not talking about it to anyone.
-He has a younger sister, but no family of his own. Except for Oswald.
