Happy Independence Day to my country Indonesia!

1 day late , but I hope it's okay. So, 17th August is my country's independence day, and this year Indonesia is 67 years old

These are my new OCs [L>R]: Sinta, Juna, and Kris. Their design is based from Indonesia's cultures and tales. They haven't had a proper debut art but I wanted to feature them on this art, so I had made them chibis lol.

The National Monument Tower

The Monumen Nasional (or Tugu Monas, the National Monument tower) is a 450 ft (137 m) tall tower in Central Jakarta, symbolizing the fight for Indonesia's Independence. Its construction began in 1961 under Sukarno and was not finished until 1975 under Suharto. It is topped by a 14.5 tonnes flame-shaped bronze plated in 35 kg (1,125 troy ounces) of gold.

Visitors can take a lift up to a platform with a good view of Medan Merdeka Park, Istiqlal Mosque and the city, if it is not too foggy. Inside the base of the monument is an exhibition on the country's Declaration of Independence and several dioramas showing the history of Indonesia.

akan tetapi saat ini masih banyak kemiskinan.. kelaparan.. pendidikan yang kurang.. kerusakan yang terjadi akibat ulah kita sendiri..
yang saat ini masih menjadi pekerjaan berat bagi bangsa ini..

Merdeka! Merdeka! Apakah negeri kita benar2 sudah merdeka..?

Seven photographs of sign language spelling out M-E-R-D-E-K-A (independent, free, freedom). It's my first assessment task for Visual Art, where we had to pick an artist and try to make an artwork based on the media and techniques the artist used. I was inspired by the artwork Voice Without a Voice/Sign (1994) by FX Harsono (link)

My intentions for this work is different from Harsono's. The ribbons seen in the letter A represents how sometime courage is by purity's side and sometime it isn't. Yes, Indonesia is a free country but is it really? Conflicts between other fellow Indonesians is still seen in the nation, poverty and criminal activity is on the rise and is not being treated by the government properly (yet they have enough money to make bus ways and cause so much traffic in the capital city) and just recently other countries trying to take Indonesia's arts and culture such as Gamelan and batik.

If we were truly a free, independent nation, we would stop conflicts and regain peace between our fellow Indonesians, we would fight against poverty and reduce criminal activity and we would claim what is truly ours!

Just another comic of Indonesia's birthday.

Jadi ceritanya Nesia baru sampai rumah setelah upacara kemerdekaan di Istana Merdeka Tiba-tiba ada yang ngetok pintu rumahnya, dan ternyata mantan penjajahnya datang untuk ngasih selamat beserta hadiah berupa bunga nasional khas negara mereka

Oh iya, 17 Agustus tahun ini spesial lho~ Karena hari ini, tepat 67 tahun yang lalu, saat proklamasi kemerdekaan dikumandangkan hari itu adalah adalah Jum'at dan juga di bulan puasa seperti sekarang.
Semoga momen ini bisa jadi titik balik untuk bangsa Indonesia agar bisa bisa berubah menjadi lebih baik lagi. Amiiiiin!

today is Indonesia's independence day~
yaaaayy~

and I skipped ceremony today tough but.... I love my country
that's why I draw this

white flag means "pure" and red one means "strong"
her hair is black and her skin is same as color of sapodilla fruit like most of Indonesian people have (but maybe I make it too white... sorry)

she's wearing bandage in her body, means Indonesia is still colonized from long time ago (until now)
and she's not wearing shoes or sandals because most of Indonesian people like to walk without shoes or sandals in long time ago
