These orbs colors are completely based on the official Windows 8 logo with the official colors in 2 versions for both normal and small taskbars.

Testing working and centered correctly on Windows 7 Utimate 64-Bit Service Pack 1.

This visual style is for Windows 7, NOT Windows 8.

v1.66 UPDATE:
-Right hand tab bug fixed.

v1.65 UPDATE:
-Reduced shadow intensity on all versions.

v1.6 UPDATE:
-Re-added the "classic glass" variation, with fully transparent window glass (ie, not smoked effect).
-All 1.5 fixes applied to classic version.
-New default wallpaper.

v1.5 UPDATE:
-Thinner window borders to closer match Windows 8.
-Increased window title font size to closer match Windows 8.
-Window previews in taskbar are now square cornered.
-Increased transparency of the lighter window glass.
-Includes only 1 variation now, the lighter glass version to closer match Windows 8.
-Now includes Windows 8 Developer Preview style start orb.

Start Orb/Buttons designed to match the styling of the Metro skin style option for Classic Shell/Classic Start Menu.

These are currently for small icon size only. If there is any demand for large icon size please let me know, and I will make the large icon versions.

These were made to be used with classic shell/Classic start menu but may work with other start button solutions. Though they are made to match the coloring style/design of the default metro skin provided with Classic Start Menu.

Start Orb/Buttons designed to match the styling of the Metro skin style option for Classic Shell/Classic Start Menu.

These are currently for small icon size only. If there is any demand for large icon size please let me know, and I will make the large icon versions.

These were made to be used with classic shell/Classic start menu but may work with other start button solutions. Though they are made to match the coloring style/design of the default metro skin provided with Classic Start Menu.

There are both 16x16, and 24x24 versions of the windows logo included. I experimented with a 32x32, but I don't think it looks right at least with small icons.

Shhh! this is not "zune collection theme" but i though that windows user deserve a better theme, I only icludes files for windows x86 but you can find the x64 everywhere, (for the orb of course and the botton folderband thats all that you need, the explorerframe is from zune collection theme) but this is a secret theme! so shhhhhh! keep it quiet.

Recently an article was posted at AskVG.com about an official video released by Microsoft which features the new file management functionality in Windows 8:

The new Start ORB features a Metro style flat Windows logo which looks great.

I think my last upload of these orbs. You all must be sick of seeing them. These ones are for use on a small top taskbar. I didn't add the large top bar in this release because I tested the original on two different computers, and it looked the same on top/bottom large taskbar. If its different for you upload a screenshot for me and I'll make a fix.

UPDATE 16/09/11: Added new caption buttons (from Windows 8 Developer Preview), fixed a few small bugs, added a few more wallpaper from Windows 8, added a new version which includes a new taskbar presented by Microsoft - [link] - I have to mention that this will be the last update for a while because I switched to Windows 8 and removed Windows 7! I will most probably release a new update (1.3) when Windows 8 Beta is released.

UPDATE 10/09/11: Added new caption buttons, fixed some small bugs and added a new wallpaper. The Start orb will be included in version 1.2 in a few days/weeks.

UPDATE 26/08/11: Added new temporary caption buttons made in Photoshop CS5, the original ones will be included in update 1.1 sometime in September 2011! Also, the start button is not included because it's not entirely made by me.

UPDATE 30/06/11: Fixed taskbar on top, right and left part of the screen + some small bugs. The next update will be released when a new Windows 8 build will leak. See you then!

Copy the contents of the Theme folder in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes

My first Windows 8 theme and some-what Windows 7 theme port of my Windows 8 Custom Theme!

This theme returns the Windows 8 Release Preview caption buttons, but flattened out to match the Metro UI and while keeping the caption borders intact. This theme is only for people with a different preference from the stock Windows 8 theme, but want a little bit of the Release Preview stock theme. This theme was also made to test the capabilities of Big Muscle's DWMHook (Aero Glass) program.

The first time I've seen win8 metro I didn't like it at all! Was horrible for me!
Now the "puzzle" is on my desktop LoL

I don't mind this new desktop, and you?

16:9 Win 8 Bootscreen Metro UI

It's built for 16:9 Displays(1600x900 or 1920x1080). However all Bootscreens on Windows are low res, it has 16:9 aspect ratio but isn't 'HD'

This is my first and probably last work that I'll put on DeviantART.

If you get stuck forever in Windows Recovery Environment then you need to manually restore winload.exe. Here are the directions:

Once you enter Windows Recovery Environment press "Cancel" right away (while it is still scanning)
If it doesn't even enter Windows Recovery Environment you can use a Windows 7 Install CD to enter it
Click "Yes" on the warning that pops up
Click "View advanced options for system recovery and support"
Select your keyboard types and click "Next>"
Select an account (not "HomeGroupUser$") and enter any necessary password and click "Ok"
Click "Command Prompt" (the last option)
Enter the following commands:
d:
cd \Windows\System32
del winload.exe
ren "winload - Backup.exe" winload.exe
cd \Windows\Boot\PCAT
del bootmgr
ren "bootmgr - Backup" bootmgr
exit
Click "Restart"
Once you get back into Windows you should run Windows 7 Boot Updater and choose "Options > Restore Backups" to restore the other files.
