Seeing how some people use just the text items from omnimo on their desktop, I decided to release them separately and standalone.

It's pretty much the same thing that's in Omnimo, but doesnt require for it to be installed. Customizability and functionality should stay the same. This version uses config which I released yesterday.

The websites panel, as you probably noticed isnt completely done, I'll try to find a optimum solution for it later.

Keep in mind, it can be used with the windows taskbar unlike what Microsoft did. I removed the taskbar from the preview because I'm too lazy to make it match the theme

Yesterday Microsoft unveiled their Windows 8 Tablet UI: [link]

And incidentally, their concept was quite similar to Omnimo [link] (which was based on WP7 anyway )

So without further ado, I decided to make some small modifications to Omnimo 4 and make it look almost exactly as the Windows 8 interface, which is scheduled to be released within a week or two.

So tell us what you think!

PS I'm really looking forward to using that UI when Windows 8 rolls, meanwhile you can use Omnimo for at least a initial effect

Just a screenshot of how the Omnimo layout can be changed to match Windows 8 build 8102

Of course, you can't really get the functionality of windows 8, but at least your OS can look a lot like win8 without having to deal with the non-customizable start screen, non-working programs, unintuitive user interface and other current problems in the windows developer preview.

Here's what I changed:

Omnimo 5: Early Glimpse

Decided to give a small glimpse of what's to come.

We have some pretty cool features planned for Omnimo 5.0. Most of which are not displayed on this screenshot. Rather, this is just to showcase the new "Win8 Beta Panels"... and to clarify that a new version is indeed coming

Windows 8 was a little disappointing for me and didn't offer much inspiration. The tiles were hardly interactive, and mostly just shortcuts. I find that the stuff we already have in Omnimo is much more functional and informative. Still, a lot of people use Omnimo because they want to feel like they're using Windows 8. This is why we'll include this purely Windows 8 mode. The default Win8 panels will come in 120x120 with colored flavors, but they can be scaled up/customized later. The sidebar, known as Quick Access, can be brought up by clicking on the right side of the screen. It will be customizable too, albeit, not so much as the mighty Enigma.

I would like to say that replicating what already exists in Windows 8 has never been our priority. We like to build upon existing things to make them more functional and useful to the users. Everything you see on that screenshot is merely a few day's work. The majority of our time is taken up by other more important stuff.

I'm hoping to release Omnimo 5 close to the end of March. Unfortunately my university studies have kept me detached from this project for quite some time. So I can't really give an exact release date as there is much work to be done. But the wait will be worth it - we're really excited about releasing this new version!

Well it's about time I submit something.

BEHOLD! Behold. ^BEHOLD! _Behold. The Omnimo 6.0 Update cometh (in Spring)

Thanks to , we've got some awesome new features planned, including, FINALLY. A multi-homescreens manager. I'm pretty excited to get this done. I really wish ~Xyrfo (co-founder, he put in just as much effort into Omnimo as me, if not more) would join this version at least briefly, but it appears I'll have to deal with this alone.

If anyone is willing to help with the new version of Omnimo, let me know! I could use any help I get.

Current Omnimo 2 desktop

My current desktop with some of the new things you can expect in omnimo 2.

Aside from enhancements like perfect snapping, drastically improved configuration and other changes/fixes, we made a bunch more panels! We hope to release at least 20 brand new panels along with omnimo 2, it's likely that some won't be bundled with it, but released as bonus packs. Also the second release will have 10 pre-included languages. Good news for haters of the cut text, we had to drop it in order to deliver perfect snapping, it looks good even now though.

Anyway, I think you'll like Omnimo 2 a LOT more than Omnimo 1. Expect it soon.

(We're nearly done, but every day I keep coming up with new crazy ideas for panels)

Welp, couldn't contain my excitement after Poiru implemented this feature into a rainmeter test build!

A feature that I have sought for 2 years has finally landed! Real Aero Blur DWM for Rainmeter. As you can see in the preview I took the liberty of implementing it in Omnimo 3.2, which along with other updates might be released in the near future!

So yeah, aero fans, a whole new level of rainmeter skinning has arrived! Stay tuned for a official beta with this feature!

Omnimo new Win8 Panels preview

This will be an update to Omnimo 4:

So... seeing how the Windows 8 interface is gaining momentum, I decided to improve Omnimo 4 a little by fine tuning some of the details. Most of you probably know that Omnimo was based off of Windows Phone 7, so naturally, right after the Win8 demo, I simply didn't have time to work out all the small visual details, aside from the colors. Well, now I did.

In the last week or so, I've been working on what you see in the screenshot. Most notably the improvements in the area of making Omnimo look almost exactly pixel perfect to Windows 8 (oh the curse of being a perfectionist). But here is the list of things I'm planning for the next revision:

> User reported bug fixes
> Windows 8 Skin for Panels (fullview this screenshot to see the difference)
> A bunch of new Win8 like panels + some interesting new ones (hoping to make at least 10)
> A few new languages
> Reincarnated Twitter support
> And whatever other crazy ideas come to my mind

You're probably asking - when will this revision be available. Unfortunately even I don't know, like everyone else, I'm waiting for Rainmeter 2.1 release along with the much anticipated oAuth Twitter plugin made by =Poiru (author of some of the most incredible recent plugins). When it's ready, I'll be sure to bring life back to all of the Twitter items, as well as the new Win8 one you can see in the screenshot.

Omnimo Two Year Anniversary

Today marks a two year anniversary since we released Omnimo (in 2010)

As much as we wanted to release Omnimo 5 today, there is still far too much work to be done. Mine and Xyrfo's studies really take up a lot of our free time, so it's quite difficult to keep working every day when you need to learn one or two programming languages for school.

Still, we've made major progress in the last few weeks. Almost everything is done, we just need to test everything properly, fix some UI consistency problems and figure out what kind of themes to offer for new users (the 150px vs 120px question). You can expect it soon

Meanwhile, I'd like to present you some interesting facts about this project. Having worked for so long, we never really bothered to count how many Panels there are. "Hundreds of Panels" is a pretty vague description, so here are the hard facts about Omnimo (5.0), to give you an idea of how big this project really is:

There are ~555 Panels in total including variants (as seen in the preview)
About 150 Text Items including variants
Almost 6000 Files
~167934 lines of code according to Xyrfo, with an average of 198 lines per item.

Now this might sound frightening, (in fact, some users tried to delete components from Omnimo, breaking it in the process, because they thought it's too much). But the default installation takes up approximately 25MB, if you combine that with InstalledPanels, it will be around 60MB. That's really not much by today's standards. In comparison, the default Windows 8 Start screen tiles take up 523 MB

Also one interesting fact about Omnimo is that it's one of the most optimized Rainmeter suites ever. Only a tiny percentage of Panels have an Update of 1 second (mostly resource monitoring ones, the irony), while all others have greatly increased update times, meaning that most of the time, your CPU usage should be at 0, and maybe only once a few minutes would jump to 01-02. Performance conservation is extremely important to us, especially since I have a laptop with a 1.1GHz CPU

One other thing: We may or may not have a beta testing phase. You can volunteer if you want, and we may, or may not let you test Omnimo 5 early

So... after seeing this: [link] [link] I decided to recreate that same desktop in Omnimo.

Which is funny, because that IS Omnimo on a Intel's CES presentation of the Nikiski laptop\tablet. To be specific - Omnimo 1 or 2 (judging from the cut off text on the panels).

Not sure if this was Photoshopped or anything, but I managed to find these images on several news websites. Other images show it using actual Windows 8. Just wondering if Intel actually used this at CES (couldn't find any videos).

Anyway, wouldn't be the first time. Remember how Microsoft used portions of the omnimo gallery on their website? [link]

This is extended version of the DeviantArt skin for Omnimo 4.
It supports 3 tabbed deviation groups - daily, popular (for the last 24h) and newest.
Also they can be changed to whatever type of deviation you like through the config, although you'll have to figure the RSS URLs yourself
All the credits should go to who is the author of the original skin and with whom permission this plugin was published.

In this update:
* thumbnail images fixed (non-mini thumbnails)
* optimized for a lot less CPU usage
* better formatted tooltips

Additional tips:
All user settings of the skin are stored in the UserVariables.inc file, located in the skin's directory.
The tab names can be changed using the RSS1Name, RSS2Name and RSS3Name fields in the file.

It's been forever since I submitted a screenshot

Just messing around with my desktop. Using the nostalgic Vista VS FINAL: [link] which I released yesterday. I still like the vista look way more than in 7. I think microsoft ditched the good looking icons and UI elements in 7 just for the sake of change, so people wouldnt think its vista with a new taskbar (which it is kinda)...

On the second desktop you can see the default layout for the 1366x768 resolution theme from Omnimo 3, with a different skin, of course.

Omnimo 4 Add-On Game Panel

-What is this?------------------------------------------------------------

Game Panel is an add-on for the popular Rainmeter theme 'Omnimo 4' This panel allows you to have up to 10 shortcuts to you're favorite games. The amount of shortcuts can be increased if you're familiar with how a Rainmeter skin works. When left along, it will do a slideshow of any picture that is stored in the image folder, and will show a picture when a shortcut is hovered over. For example, if you hover over the 'Crysis 2' shortcut, it will show a 'Crysis 2' picture. There are also alternative panels that show a blank background when a shortcut is hovered over.

-How do I configure it?------------------------------------------------

Once this skin is installed and enabled by using RainBrowser. You can configure the panel by clicking on the hammer button, and then insert the directory to the Game after the value 'Link#=' (# represents the link number between 1 to 10). Then once that is done right click on the panel, click on 'Edit Skin...' and search for '[TextLink#]' (Again # representing the link number between 1 to 10), scroll down until you see 'Text=' and change the text after the = sign with the game you're adding a shortcut to. Do this process again but instead of '[TextLink#]' you search for ''[TextLink#Hover]".

-What's Included--------------------------------------------------------

3 different panels. Wide, Tall and Small each with a second alternative panel for people that want a blank background when you hover over a shortcut.

-How to install-----------------------------------------------------------
Make sure you have Rainmeter 2.0 or later and Omnimo 4. Double click on the 'Game Panel.rmskin' file and then enable it using RainBrowser.

-Any bugs?---------------------------------------------------------------

There might be some bugs with this release as I haven't been feeling well and maybe rushed through this too quickly.

This is extended version of the DeviantArt skin for Omnimo 4.
It supports 3 tabbed deviation groups - daily, popular (for the last 24h) and newest.
Also they can be changed to whatever type of deviation you like through the config, although you'll have to figure the RSS URLs yourself
All the credits go to who is the author of the original skin and with whom permission this plugin was published.

In this update:
* better thumbnail preview (proportional)
* added background to the skin - you can remove it either by setting HideBG=1 in file UserVariables.inc in the skin directory or through the config
* added standalone support

The following type of URLs can be used to preview an user gallery - ht tp://backend.deviantart.com/rss.xml?q=gallery%3A (remote the space between "ht" and "tp://") by defining it in the UserVariables.inc file by replacing the values for either RSS1, RSS2 or RSS3.
The tabs names can be changed by RSS1Name, RSS2Name and RSS3Name fields in UserVariables.inc.
And example URL for my personal gallery is ht tp://backend.deviantart.com/rss.xml?q=gallery%3Ascreamerbg (note, %3A, not %username)
