I make this photoshop work couse i really love Raiden from Metal Gear Solid series (even if i prefer Solid Snake), and i wanted to know if can i make a good cosplay of him ...yeah i'm thinking to make this armor as my next cosplay ...the problem is how to make it XD LOOOL

I make this editing cutting the part of armor from varius pic on the web, rotating, patterning, setting the lights and shadows, setting the colors and temperatures of white, correcting perspective and assemble together.

How do you think about ?

This photo was taken by Kenji during Anime LA 2011, nearly one year ago. Its been really popular on his DA page, and since the hits have died down a bit now, i guess i'll finally upload it to mine. He has some amazing photography work that he puts a lot of time and effort into so, its definitely worth taking a look at.

I guess with the release of a new trailer during the Spike Video Game Awards, i wanted to upload this onto my DA page finally. Hehe, Platinum Games, hmm, they worked on Bayonetta and Devil May Cry so, this should be pretty interesting.

Theirs so much wear and tear on the cosplay that I retired it after SDCC 2011. That and getting bigger didn't help on a form fitting cosplay, lol. I'm not sure if i'll attempt at a repair/remake of it, but i guess its possible. Use some better techniques the 2nd time around.

Raiden Cosplay: Face Mask

So for ACEN this year Ill, not only, be bringing Aaroniero but the brunt of my cosplay if going to be Raiden from Metal Gear Solid 4. Now, I wasn't looking forward to this cosplay, his suit is kind of a nightmare. BUT, I try to outdo myself every year, so I won't be beaten by this. Since February is cosplay month, I thought I'd share some of my progress on the most daunting of pieces, Raiden's Face Mask.

1) Okay this was my cardboard mock up, just to see if I could do it at all. I basically used a figure I bought of him and a few pics for reference. It's made entirely of cardboard and I used some of my left over wire form Aaroniero to make ear straps for it. It was a little wide from my head, this is why we practice. So after it was completed, I started immediately on the real one.

2) Okay so this is my mask w/o paint and super details. It's has a card board base as well but it's coated with styrene and crafting foam, for the finer details. I chose styrene because it takes well to spray paints and can leave a semi-gloss.

3) After painting, the paint I used was called Rust-oleum: Rust Reformer spray paint and it worked really well. Thanks DJ for the tip! I filled the LED holes w. glue, which I'll just paint and gloss by hand. I would have used LEDs but they were $10 for a pack of 2 and I still have boots to buy XD So I threw on my wig, which also needs a little work and took the final result picture. I still have some detail stuff to do but all and all I did this in about a day. Now on to the black parts of the body suit!

Now I haven't played a Metal Gear Solid game and I don't know much about the characters, but I gotta say this Raiden costume was pretty awesome! Naked raiden doll

still a bad photo. I took this outside on a sunny day too.

It's naked Raiden from Metal Gear solid2: Sons of Liberty all in his naked glory/horror (you choose) no prives though, just like in the game!

I used him as a prop for an Emma Emmerich cosplay I wore at Anime Next this year, (which too I have bad photo's of)

He got so many reactions and hugs. I almost lost him to a hoard of fan girls, as well as some boys.

At the end of the day some of his seams were comming undone but i fixed him up.

Thats whats happens when they get hugged to much.^_^

Metal Gear Rising Raiden WIP

For Fanime 2012, I'm working on a cosplay of Raiden from the upcoming Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It's built much like the MGS4 Raiden cosplay I did last year, with some newer, improved methods.

- Suit is a dance leotard over compression tights and shirt.
- Armor is 6mm craft foam. It's been covered in plasti-dip to seal the foam surface and smooth it out, and then sprayed and or handpainted in gloss black.
- Details made with silver sharpie, washers of different sizes, and more 6mm and 3mm craft foam.

TO DO: Shoes, Shoulder pauldrons, gloves, sword, mask/jawpiece

There. That was an attempt to make the Cyborg Raiden's Sword from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It's actually 1:1!!! Made from pine wood, and a nice paint job. Preety resistant, I must say.

I made the holster and the dagger as well.

Metal Gear Rising Raiden wip5

Full suit up as is. Other progress not previously documented:

- Made the lower leg plates out of my old MGS4 Raiden plates, using more 6mm foam. They attach to two pouches strapped to my shins; since this Raiden has no belt, I'll need the pouches to carry my stuff.
- Made the shoes using more foam and my old MGS4 Raiden shoes.
- Made the armored gloves out of thinner 2mm foam and a pair of black gloves from Daiso. The thinner foam keeps my gloves from being too bulky.

Raiden Rising WIP New Shoulder

Probably my very last Work in progress picture. This is the 2nd version of the shoulders, and i took the picture with the eyepatch on. Hehe, sort of threw the head stuff on so i guess it isn't quite sitting right but it gives the idea. Also, the full let of fake fasteners have been placed on.

I definitely like how these new shoulders sit a little better. And the eye-patch i guess lets me sort of see through it a little little, just enough to get an idea of how far away stuff is.

Hopefully i can get some real photo's of it soon, instead of super red fluorescent lighting, lol.

Raiden is a character from Konami's next Metal Gear Solid Rising game due out supposedly sometime next year
