Everybody knows Santas sledge is pulled by reindeer, lives somewhere cold and even the Finns say he lives in Lapland.

In other words, Santa is a Sami. Just look at this [link] and deal with it.

The Sami people are the Indians of the North and they belong in the same group as Native Americans and Aboriginals. They live in Lapland, an area that stretches from north Norway over Sweden and Finland to Russia.

I would have liked there to be more characters in the comic, but I dont have a lot of time to draw today, so this will have to do.

I made this specifically for an advent calendar being done on my website. It was an idea of another member, MizunoSailorMurcury, and another member, Cat, did a little site for it. I cut it way close for my submission (I needed it done by the end of today).

I originally was going to do something totally different, but I was doodling today on paper (and with the help of watching Memento last night), I decided to do a psychiatric report of Santa if he were ever arrested and put into a mental institution. Ok... so it may not be happy-sappy like Christmas related stuff usually is, but it is humerous.

If you can't read it, full view it! I thought that stuff all up with the help of my boyfriend for editinig and junk.

alright so... i drew this at school again. it was in English class.
and for those of u who might think i'm a guy who doesn't pay attention in class and all i do is draw,

LET´S WIKIATTACK!

Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply "Santa", is a legendary figure who, in many Western cultures, is said to bring gifts to the homes of the good children during the late evening and overnight hours of Christmas Eve, December 24. The legend was derived from the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas which, in turn, may have part of its basis in hagiographical tales concerning the historical figure of gift giver Saint Nicholas. A nearly identical story is attributed by Greek and Byzantine folklore to Basil of Caesarea. Basil's feast day on January 1 is considered the time of exchanging gifts in Greece.

A well-known folk legend associated with Santa Claus says that he lives in the far north, in a land of perpetual snow. The American version of Santa Claus says that he lives at his house on the North Pole, while Father Christmas is often said to reside in the mountains of Korvatunturi in Lapland Province, Finland. Santa Claus lives with his wife Mrs. Claus, an unspecified but large number number of magical elves, and at least eight or nine flying reindeer. Another legend, popularized in the song "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town", says that he makes a list of children throughout the world, categorizing them according to their behavior ("naughty" or "nice") and that he delivers presents, including toys, candy, and other gifts to all of the good boys and girls in the world, and sometimes coal to the naughty children, on the single night of Christmas Eve. He accomplishes this feat with the aid of the elves who make the toys in the workshop and the reindeer who pull his sleigh.

Saint Nicholas of Myra is the primary inspiration for the Christian figure of Sinterklaas. He was a 4th century Greek Christian bishop of Myra (now Demre) in Lycia, a province of the Byzantine Anatolia, now in Turkey. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity. In Europe (more precisely the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Germany) he is still portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes.

In the Netherlands and Belgium, Saint Nicolas, ("Sinterklaas", often called "De Goede Sint" "The Good Saint") is aided by helpers commonly known as Zwarte Piet in Dutch ("Black Peter") or "Père Fouettard" in French. His feast on December 6 came to be celebrated in many countries with the giving of gifts. However, in the Netherlands the Dutch celebrate on the evening of December 5, with a celebration called "pakjesavond". In the Reformation in 16th-17th century Europe, many Protestants changed the gift bringer to the Christ Child or Christkindl, and the date for giving gifts changed from December 6 to Christmas Eve.

The folklore of Saint Nicolas has many parallels with Germanic mythology, in particular with the god Odin. These include the beard, hat and spear (nowadays a staff) and the cloth bag held by servants to capture naughty children. Both Saint Nicolas and Odin ride white horses that can fly through the air; the white eight-legged steed of Odin is named Sleipnir (although Sleipnir is more commonly depicted as gray). The letters made of candy given by the Zwarte Pieten to children evokes the invention of the rune letters by Odin. The poems recited during the celebration and the songs the children sing relate to Odin as a god of poetry.

I apologize to those people who really a fan of Rockwell, I am too and I hope I did ok from copying it. It was not original for it was a copy from his painting. So I hope those guys who are an avid, I already explain here so, I just want to inspired people those who start from copying someone work with a little touch of there learning, I'm one of you guys. We copy somebodys work and were proud of it, coz we learned from it, those people who always think that it was not right to do, let them be, they will not help us neither inspired us. I meant to post this yesterday, but Christmas activities got in the way I doodled up these little reindeer on Christmas Eve for fun. I was originally doing more detailed drawings of them, but I ran out of time fast, so I resorted to chibis.

I've thrown in the descriptions of their personalities as I envision them. I think it might be fun to do a holiday comic about them, or simply explore their characters and relationships more deeply, but this is all I have for now. Enjoy!

Bonus Tidbits: All of Santas reindeer should technically be females. Male reindeer lose their antlers at the start of winter, while females keep theirs until spring, so its unlikely that during Christmas the team would be male.

Donner and Blitzen originally started out as Dunder and Blixem. Not very appealing for Donner, is it? I dont think hed take kindly to the constant Dunder-head jokes hed be subjected to.

"Santa Muerte" -- line art in pen on paper, colored digitally in Corel Painter on Intuos 3 tablet. *Full view highly recommended. ^_^

Personification of Santa Muerte (Saint Death, Holy Death) or Mictecacihuatl, Aztec goddess of the underworld, whom the roots of the modern day celebration of "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) can be traced back to. Done for the Enchanted Visions Project's October 2011 theme "Dia de los Muertos". After the summer hiatus, EV is back with a new monthly theme.

I don't know why the supposedly "Halloween" theme ended up with "Dia...". Many of the EV artists felt this was a rather "closed" and "restrictive" theme, including myself. I decided to research the history of the Day of the Dead celebration in order to find some kind of inspiration rather than merely presenting a pretty, Catrina-inspired, skull-painted face.

Once I decided on "Santa Muerte" figure, I pretty much had my mind made up to go with mostly white for the color scheme of this piece, rather than doing what's expected and predictable for dark pieces -- black.

Ack, due to health complications with a pet cat, hair cuts, and literally being awake for nearly 24 hours straight, I won't be able to make the Nosfera pages tonight. HOWEVER, I did make this in it's place, in order to celebrate Santa or something. Sadly, it didn't turn out how I hoped it would, but I'm still rather pleased with it. Also, if you can read the Japanese text, then it's meant to say, "And the 12 assassins of Christmas", but I used Google Translator, so it might say something completely different.

Started about 4-5 days ago as a sketch I did at around 6am (on actual paper! - not a digital sketch!)

Then I re-drew it in photoshop CS3, and painted it all from scratch. No references. I have had the idea for about 2 months but never had the time until now to get it onto a digital canvas

Yesss....im highly, superbly, hyper actively crazy about Diablo 3.. Man..Barbarian is so so cool.. I was never a big barbarian fan back in diablo 2 but now.. lol! speechless.. So i have to paint something of that sort and came up with this.. Im not sure why i came up with this color scheme and only to find out it looks like santa thus the name. Did this in like 2 hours(rendering) the lineart was done in prolly 30-40 mins during lunch break.

I recently saw Rise of the Guardians and it was great! Made me want to do some fanart for it.

Tattooed Russian Santa was cool. I was expecting him to pull out a Kalashnikov and bad punny Christmas oneliners (à la Mr. Freeze) at every moment but as this is a childrens movie, it unfortunately did not happen.

I wanted to try something new from what I usually draw, maybe bamf out Santa more, try out some new brushes and techniques. The tattoo was too much trouble, so I blended it from the official artwork.

My Dad seems to like this style a lot, haha.
