i actually love this anime... i haven't liked anime in such a loooong time, but this one actually keeps my interest and the animation can get epic! x)

i'm up to episode 18 and kamina is still definately my fav character... maybe i'll gather the courage to draw him sometime.

i forgot how much more fun it is to draw in a more stereoptypical anime style! LOL... dunno if that's a good thing. but i tried to experiment with perspective a little. i need more practice but still it's fun.

Hey folks! Many pardons for the radio silence, as soon as I finished up on the Kratt's Brother's storyboard project, I was called in for some emergency help on another series, so this summer's been crazy busy! And while it's great to keep working, that does mean comic-stuff and internet stuff falls to the side, but I'll be sure to get back to DA updates as soon as things settle down. In the mean time, here's a quick sketch of one of the title characters from the show I'm on, "Yoko, Mo and Mia" which is the GIRLYEST show I have ever worked on! Fairies, elves and unicorns everywhere! Good times!

So! I bought a fantastic statue of Yoko last year at SDCC, but have only just gotten around to actually start watching Gurren Lagann; pretty friggin' awesome!

I'd been meaning to paint her for ages anyway, and here we go then! Couple of hours in photoshop; was planning originally to do a colour piece, but was having fun with the greyscale rendering so I decided to leave it like that
(been a while since I finished any personal works, so I figured while I was enjoying it I may as well finish it up)

This is Yoko from Gurren Lagann (actually that name is longer, but who cares ahah)
I actually only watched one episode of GL and read a few chapters, but Yoko reminds me so much of Ishae I HAD to draw her.
She's definitely my kind of gal!

Finished the coloring to this piece. I have to admit, I still have a lot to work on with backgrounds still. I still wanna try out a new technique in a future piece. I altered her design a bit with her boots and chose to stick her with a different gun.

And here is the finished version of my print of Yoko for Connecticon and Otakon this year. I like how it came out, there are plenty of flaws due to the fact I have to rush to get things done in this last month before the conventions start. But all things considered I don't feel like it came out too bad.

I just love Yoko. I love all the main characters of Gurren Lagann, but I find myself drawing Yoko like CRAZY. This is the sketch that got to go all the way.

I went all out on this. It's been a long time. I feel good.

I have a more realistic, painterly thing in-progress of her shooting her gun. It's not done yet cuz I suck and guns, lawl.

It's funny, cuz I didn't think I'd like her when I first glanced her design. But now I love her personality and her design. Hahah.

Gosh, I've stumbled upon Yoko so many times in the past, seeing beautiful art of her and loving her design wondering what anime she was from Finally got the time to watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann anticipating that Yoko was the main chara... but noooooo it HAD to be Simon. Well much like in Yoko's case, he grew on me
It's the first mecha anime that I've watched... and lol I liked it even the exaggerations were awesome
