Yeah, I've been feeling a bit under the weather lately, and with the panic that's been spread, every cough and/or sneeze equals Swine Flu. I've had a loss of appetite and a cough, which have been consistent, and I've been cycling through other symptoms such as actually feeling cold, slight headache (which quickly passes), sore throat (which only happens in evenings and is gone by the time I wake up next morning, if not sooner) and tiredness (also in the evenings). I checked out the kind of cough I have online, and it sounds a lot more like a cold cough than a flu one - plus I haven't ever felt like I should be completely bedridden. It's just strange for me since I hardly ever get ill - and so the times I do get ill seem to hit me like a ton of bricks.

I've promised everyone that I'll get better, and right now I don't even feel like I have anything besides a slightly runny nose. I just know I'll be 100% soon! (not really in pain, it's just that the little guy's coughing )

But just remember my 3 tips for if you're ever suspected of the piggy disease:
1 - Don't panic
2 - Stock up on water and supplies
3 - Find yourself a Flu buddy (someone who you know doesn't have it who can fetch you medicines and supplies and stuff) - just be sure to take precautions so that they don't get ill too!

Anyways, I started the "One Hundred Push Ups" program about 3 weeks ago - I've had to repeat Week 1, and I'm finally on week 2, but I'm struggling a bit. I wonder if I'll have to repeat week 1 again? At least I'm improving little by little. But dammit, I hate going so slow! Why do you think I enjoy Burnout Paradise and the daytime levels of Sonic Unleashed?

In any case, when it comes to pencil work, Project COOKIE is done! Now I have... *counts through the pages upon pages of drawings* ... 17 pages of drawings to ink! But this step should be a lot easier and quicker, since I'm not thinking up how the scenarios are going to go. Plus if I do make any mistakes, I can fix them in Photoshop upon scanning.

Anyways (again), I drew a Summer pic for a friend of mine, but she's having computer problems, so it may be quite some time before she can see it. Should I just put it up on here to sorta fill the void a bit?

I guess sometimes I just get into a slump mood where I can't draw, write, or do anything creative. I can't really explain it, but I suppose it's like writer's block. So I know things are taking a long time, but it's just because I start feeling like I can't draw, or I'm forcing myself. When this happens I just tend to do other things - try out some old games, doze off at noon, watch DVDs - mainly just not even thinking about drawing. And then, before I know it, I'm drawing again!

So yeah, I know it takes me a long time to do stuff, but please be patient with me. After all, if it's delayed it can become good, but if it's bad it's bad forever

Hello, Mr. Thompson (or, judging from my time zone, I guess I should say Good Morning?)

My name is Dominic Morris (although, since my middle name is Joseph, I prefer to be known as DJ Morris), and since I am an avid Internet user, it was inevitable that I would come across your actions and opinions concerning video games. Now, I readily admit that in my childhood I have played games with age certificates above my age at the time of playing, and I think I just liked the fact that they were games, but I digress. Sheesh, not too long into the e-mail and I already digress! I know a lot of your points have been aimed toward video games being too violent or sexual, and it’s not in my nature to jump out and attack somebody who’s attacking the medium that I love, so I won’t. But I just wish to ask: why video games?

I know there are a lot of other media that can be “bad influences”, like movies, music, and literature, but ultimately responsibility lies within the parents and guardians. Keep in mind that while I am challenging your beliefs, I am in no way insulting them. I do understand that games of such offensive content should not be exposed to children. You may have come across people complaining about the likes of Grand Theft Auto and the Halo series; mainly parents complaining about the effects violent games have on children – children of which these parents shouldn’t have given the games to in the first place! After all, the age certificate rating is there for a reason. Once again, I admit to having games rated 15 and 18 while I was only 13, but fortunately I was mature enough to not be too harshly affected by the material. I have seen stuff in games that even back then I wouldn’t have wished on anybody. OK yes, there was a guy who bullied me constantly through secondary school, but I wouldn’t want him to be caught in a pressure chamber until he exploded – that’s just MEAN!

My main point is that I’m not assuming that you just hate video games. I’m not assuming that you just hate games because of the level of violence. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if you enjoyed some games in your spare time. (By the way, have you tried Sonic Unleashed? Play the Daytime levels when you have a need for speed, and play the Nighttime levels when somebody’s annoyed you – so satisfying!) In fact, games can really be a way to relieve stress. Using Grand Theft Auto itself as an example: if you’re really angry you can go out and kill as many people as you like within the game, and nobody in real life shall have to suffer. But still, there are a lot of gamers out there who absolutely abhor you because you seem to have attacked the games themselves and their creators. Now unlike a lot of people, I’m open to both sides of the story. And I do tend to go for a lot of “adult” material, but don’t take that in a perverted sense. The media that interests me is more likely to challenge and bore kids than corrupt them. I’m not really one for telling people what to do, but if I may suggest bringing your attention less toward the violent and sexual video games, and more toward the parents who let their underage kids get them… well, who knows?

Yeah. That's right. This was e-mailed to me and two other people by the girlfriend of a guy I knew from college. I hadn't even heard from her in months until this. I mean, I don't know the story behind the other two people, but I definitely know that I've done nothing to deserve that. OK, so I inadvertently made one of my friends feel bad last night (though she says that it's not my fault), and karma seems to have a way of catching up to me (right when I think it doesn't exist, something comes around to bite me on the butt!), but isn't that a little extreme? I mean, what the smeg is going on?

Why is it that people only come out and insult other people when they're in a group or hidden safely behind a computer screen? What is it about that anonymity that turns certain people into such jerks? And is something bad going to happen to me every November? First the fiasco at that pub and now this?

It's fine with me if that woman never wants to see me again if this is how she acts, because if I ever see her again, it'll be way too soon for my liking!

I'm not entirely sure who this N'Gai Croal is, but I sincerely doubt that he has ever been more wrong than in this opinion. What particularly grinds my gears is how it seems like he's saying there's racism in the game that "so many gamers literally can't see it". OK, so the game is set in a warm, sunny climate (obviously saying to me that nowhere is safe and the survival horror isn't confined to dark and gloomy areas), where people are obviously going to have darker skin to counteract the unforgiving Sun. Then they all turn into what I understand is possibly a mixture of zombies and Ganados (they're at least civilised and structured while still wanting to kill Chris Redfield). This guy sees a white guy going into a village and killing loads of black people, but why is it happening? Because, like in every RE game, it's kill or be killed. And I don't think even the bad guys ever wanted to go to a place just to kill everybody who lived there. If they weren't infected with the virus that changes them (I'm not 100% if it's the T-Virus or Las Plagas, or something else), then Chris wouldn't be killing them - I mean, unless the player was really that sadistic.

Then there's his point about "black people being hidden in shadows" - gee, you wouldn't think it was a horror game, would you? Seriously - stop playing the race card already! Regardless of age, gender, skin colour, or anything else, they're still after your blood, they still want you to die, and the only way out is still to kill them (or run away like a pansy when you're out of ammo). There were zombie dogs in Resi 2, but you don't see the RSPCA bitching at Capcom!

Screw it! Resi 5 had better include the return of Sherry Birkin! But if they do something stupid like make her an antagonist in the game, I'm just gonna let her kill Chris when I find her. See, I work voluntarily at GAME in Meadowhall - now that it's past Xmas, it should quieten down a bit. But still, I'm just doing my job and minding my own business, when a customer comes in wanting to return a PC game. She says that it was a Christmas present, and yet they had tried installing it on 6 different computers without any luck. That's when I suggested looking at the Minimum Requirements.

BIG MISTAKE.

I get all the usual crap "Oh, I don't know anything about computers", and stuff like that, but then she goes and says "Nobody told me to look at the system requirements, so you people could have sold me a Wii game even know I have a Playstation 3". I was polite as possible to this snobby old lady, but in reality I wanted to take the game she'd brought and smack her over the head with it! For a start, we're not gonna scan a Wii game for a customer to buy and then ask "Oh, before we forget, do you own a Wii?" - that would just be patronising and degrading. If you want to get a game, it's only natural to check whether it's right for your system. If you want, for example, Gitaroo Man Lives for the PSP, it would certainly be a great asset to have a PSP in the first place! And since PCs are so varied, with all the different hardware components you can get, EVERY SINGLE PC GAME comes with a set of Minimum System Requirements that you should follow! And if you don't know what system requirements are, or what actually goes into a computer, then what the Hell are you doing with 6!?

Anyways, the main point is she wanted to return the game without a reciept. Yeah, doesn't work that way. No reciept, no return. She should know that, right? Then she starts going on about gettign a bank statement to prove that she bought it at the store, and I calmly explained to her that until she can get proof of purchase, there was nothing we could do. So she basically forces the game into my games and says "Fine, just give it to one of these kids!!" That's when my brain said "Sod this for a bag of cheese!" and I got another member of staff to deal with this "very unhappy customer". I overheard her going over her whole sob story again, only this time she said she'd tried it on 5 computers, rather than the previous 6. Seems like the shriveled up old bag can't even keep her story straight.

Why wouldn't this woman just calm down and listen to me? Why was she willing to pawn her game off to some kid without getting her money back? (I should have just let the cow do that, by the way - her money down the toilet, not mine!) Why did she compare the fact that virtually no two PCs are the same with getting games for different systems altogether? She even told me that she'd called someone out to check it and they'd said that the game was incompatible with all 5 or 6 of her undoubtedly obsolete PC systems, so why was I taking the crap for it? And, most important of all, how in the name of all that is good and fattening can a woman be involved with at least 5 different computer systems AND a Playstation 3, yet not thought to check the system requirements? According to this sad old crow, buying a PC-DVD game for a PC that only has a CD-ROM drive is like buying a Sega Game Gear game for a Nintendo Virtual Boy, or a PS1, or any system that ISN'T a Game Gear! Yes, we could have sold her a Wii game for her PS3, and since she's obviously too ignorant and stupid to check the box where it says in big letters and plain English what system the game is for, we could definitely get away with it too!

If I were a more paranoid person, I'd say certain customers do this deliberately just to annoy me.

OK, I just went out to the Moorfoot Tavern, like I do every Sunday, had a few drinks, sung some karaoke, the usual. Of course, I usually get a hug from the ladies who work there, since I know them pretty well, but come closing time, some nobhead grabs me by the collar of my shirt and drags me outside, accusing me of grabbing someone's chest! What the fuck?! I kept trying to tell the guy that I'd not done anything like that, and I never will (I only feel a woman's breasts if that's what she wants and we're in an intimate relationship - so yeah, it's been like nearly a year since that's ever happened), but he was having none of it! He kept saying "It'd be the same as me doing this" and grabbing me... you know... down there.

So, yeah. I know it's 3am, but I can't sleep - I feel horrible, even though I didn't do anything. I know this experience can't compare, but I think I've had a small taste of what rape's like I'm gonna nered a lot of support and chocolate cake to get out of this one. No-one's actually challenged me to it, and I've got college work to do and stuff, but I'm gonna challenge myself anyway!

If there's a theme that has " - done!" next to it, that means that I've already drawn the pic. I've decided to just do these in pencil line art, then maybe I'll scan them in and make a huge portfolio, or something

I've decided to use five characters for this: DJ, Lisa, Emi, D-Chan, and new girl Sally. DJ wanted to go on holiday for some reason, plus he and Lisa have wanted to go on holiday together for the longest time to create their own Jackass home movie. I am damn bored. I'm so bored that I'm writing a big-ass journal entry about being bored. Well, it's not really a big-ass journal entry yet, but this is a boring lesson, so I'll get lots done.

The time is 13:39PM (I know the 13 implies that it's PM, but I just threw it in to make it less boring), and I'm in a boring Visual Communications lesson. I'm extremely bored, and our boring project is the A to Z of Multimedia design. Sounds exciting, right? Wrong. It's boring. If it's not boring, it's frustrating, because I have the tutor (Lynn West) breathing down my neck, pulling my project to pieces, and basically picking out everything that I shouldn't be doing. Nope, I'm not allowed to sort out my music. I'm not allowed to e-mail other students about a photo shoot I'm taking part in. I'm not allowed to do any multitasking. Just one task only. How boring. And what's with the project demolition? The brief says we can design these things how we want, but Lynn always changes everything so that it's how she wants, and the things she chooses are always boring. It's like saying "You can do what you want, but if you don't do what I want, I'll take points away for it". That's frustrating, boring, and just plain rude. Speaking of rude, she found it perfectly all right to read my E-mails out to the class. Cow.

People in the room are swearing, again. Always the same words too. BORING! This monotonous room is boring too, and I keep getting bored when people ask to use my scanner. There are what, TEN OTHER COMPUTERS with scanners, and everyone always wants to use mine! Even the people who have scanners use mine! I have work to do too, you know... yeah, it's boring work, but that's beside the point.

My BT Broadband has been activated, so when I get home I'll be setting up my modem and software. I've been so bored without proper access to the Internet. I haven't been able to chat to or or anyone! It's been so boring without them! Oh, look at that. Lynn's disappeared again. I swear, she disappears from the room more often as the weeks go by. I'm sure she's having a secret liason or affair, or something. Now that wouldn't be boring. I'll tell you what IS boring, though: cats...

I guess I'm a little less bored now. Still pretty bored, though. I can't wait to get the full version of Windows XP, then my computer will stop dying. I'll be able to play Outrun and Worms World Party and stuff without getting a blue screen of death. Oh, God. She's back. Gotta keep my eyes open now. At least now maybe I'll be too frustrated and hungry to be bored. I'm always hungry. Must eat! I tried getting an XP update on Saturday for £90, but it wasn't compatible with my machine. Now I have to wait 10 working days just to get my refund! That's the last time I shop at boring Maplins! As soon as I get my money back I'm getting Guitar Hero! Or Outrun 2006! Or BOTH! Now, neither of those games are boring! I used to play Outrun 2006 all the time at Virgin Megastore, but they changed it to a boring football game! How boring is that? It's just 22 men kicking a stupid ball around, and some guy dressed in black handing out coloured cards. Uber-boring. How can people sit and watch the matches? I dunno about you, but I couldn't sit around for 45 minutes straight, do something else, and then do it again. Sure, I can sit around watching a film, but that's because I usually watch comedies, or stuff with explosions, or other stuff that's generally not boring.

I was teaching a little of how to play Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi in the early hours of this morning.
