Explanation

So anyway, I've realised over the last couple of weeks that I'm not coping very well with the number of submissions appearing in my inbox - the worst part is that not only do I not know half of these people, but I can't even remember why I watched them in the first place. D:> Whenever I update my watchlist with someone new, I'm always looking at various usernames that I swear I've never seen before, or people who I've been meaning to....un-watch ;A; *fail* It's not because I think they're no good or anything, it's just because I feel like I have nothing to learn from them anymore, and that my taste goes elsewhere in art now...

For example, I watched alot of anime artists when I first started this account; I loved the style and I admired those who could draw it well. Now however, that's all changed. Like I said earlier, my tastes have altered and I find it difficult to be interested in the anime/manga genre in general. I've made many friends who love anime, and friends who love to draw anime - that's not to say I'm here to bash the style, or that I'm unable to appreciate it, because I am able to recognise when something's taken alot of time and effort to get right. It's just that...it's difficult to sort through my inbox thoroughly when it's full of stuff that I know I can't leave proper comments on, because I have nothing to say about it.

And it's unfair to those whom I know well and enjoy talking to - their art sits at the back of my inbox whilst I sort out stuff from people I've never spoken to. This problem is my fault - I simply watch too many people. Now's the time to do some cleaning out!

TL;DR I have some strangers on my watchlist - I'm flushing them out and starting afresh! :)

Just leave a comment and I'll re-add you! :'D But only if you promise to be an active watcher - with my newly condensed list I promise to be the same~ :la: That's the whole point of this, I need to sort out friends from inactive cling-ons, basically ;A;

Please bear in mind that there are certain types of art that I am leaning away from at the moment D: It's only fair that I list them, because I may not comment on them as often as I'd like. The reason being that...there's always something else in my inbox distracting me >.<

:bulletred: Photomanipulation - I find it hard to appreciate something that's really just copy and pasting someone else's photographs together for your own personal glory. 2 year olds can do that, and whilst I do realise that it's a valid skill, it's not one that I enjoy. I'll get off my high horse soon, I swear. D|

:bulletred: Anime/Manga - Like I said before, I just don't like it as much as I used to.

:bulletred: Sketches - If they're not uploaded in bulk (as in, half your sketchbook in one week X___x) than they're completely fine. I prefer to see/comment on finished work though.

:bulletred: Photography - I watch some great photographers, but they don't half upload in bulk Dx There's no way I can comment on 50 pictures of your cat.

My Birthday!

Date: 5th September (the date has since changed at the top of the journal, but this was written on the 5th! xD)

Happy birthday to me! :dance: I'm now 16, old enough to do things, like get a job. I have an idea where I want to work, but it's probably not going to be that easy xD But yay, now I can enter the lottery!~ :iconohjoyplz:

For my b-day pressies, my main one got delayed in the post (it's a PS3 that was supposed to be here yesterday, but the shipping was delayed for another few days) My dad bought it in a package deal, but he didn't have much choice with what came with it. It'll come with a horror movie (Day of the Dead) and Fallout 3. Limited choice is limited! =o :iconlolcatplz: Sounds tailormade for a boy, but it doesn't sound that bad. I quite like action/shooting games, I just wish I could play them! xDDD I got a cool dress from my sister too, aswell as a necklace.

What I did today to celebrate me getting half way to 32:

-Went to Cardiff to eat at a cool restaurant. Was awesome!
-Went shopping in Cardiff, only bought 4 cans of hair spray though xD I always seem to be running out :noes:

What I'm still going to do:

-See District 9 in the cinema. The newspaper that I read the review for it in gave it 6 out of 5 stars. Has anyone seen it yet? I'm looking forward to it, it's been compared to Cloverfield, omg DD: :iconwantplz: :heart:

This is kind of a manditory journal that I'd just like to use to say something. Everyone who has watched me for a while knows that I hardly ever post anything. That's because I never draw anything, but anyway that's not the point. My point is, that I see them drawing non stop, because it's what they love.

I don't understand how anyone could be excited about drawing/painting whatever. It's the last thing on my mind, and I hate how unmotivated I am to do anything about it. So, I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like creating art. Simple as! :D

THIS DOES NOT MEAN I'M LEAVING DA. Still gonna be here to check out everyone else's stuff! :3

It's just, here's what happened:

I always have to force myself to draw, and when people say 'Omg, I want to be an artist when I leave school/college whatever!! It's like my dream job <33' That just doesn't make sense to me. To have to sit and draw all day would be a method of torture to me.

I think that's one of the reasons why I set my commision prices so stupidly high - I don't really want to have to draw for anyone. I just need the money, OTL.

Don't get me wrong, I love art. Just...not creating it. Looking at it is awesome enough.


Sooo what I'm saying is, I probably won't be posting very much art in the future (*cough* JUST LIKE RIGHT NOW *cough*). If you're watching me, I don't mind if you decide to remove me from your list - it really makes no difference. :)

For the people that I have promised art trades/commisions pics/collab stuff whatever else - don't worry, I'll do those! (eventually X__x) :heart:

Okay so maybe not a cookie as such! JUST MY ETERNAL APPRECIATION!! By the way, I apologise in advance for the number of deviations still in my dev inbox too. ANYWAY, I have a question, and it'd be really helpful if anyone could atleast set me in the right direction! :heart:

So, here we go:

I have so many fanart ideas for FFX, it's not even funny. I love this game so much, and everytime I play it 10000 different ideas come to my head all at once - nothing else inspires such powerful subjectivity, actual meaning to a picture than this game.

Voice from the crowd: WTF?!....stay AWAY from Final Fantasy, you crazy beotch!

Yeah yeah D; Ima keep to the canon though. There'll be no Jecht/Braska yaoi popping up unexpectedly, that's for sure! :iconwhutplz: Also will probably include stuff from FFX-2. *trills* :heart:

I digress though. In short, yes, I've unfortunatley been thinking about butchering the awesomeness of this game by haphhazardly contructing some form of art book from my own CGs. I'd like to finish it before I turn 18, so I have a few years to work away at it and improve my skill at the same time. Hopefully it'll turn out half decent. *SHOT*

THE PROBLEM IS that I have no idea what's involved with this sort of thing. Say for instance I wanted to go to a con and sell it - I couldn't, right? Because NO ONE WOULD BUY IT of copyright restrictions. I don't understand, then, how people can sell fanart prints/keychains/doujinshi etc, because they 'need the money'? Aren't they making profit out of someone elses work?

:bulletblue:What I'm asking is: How are they allowed to make a profit from fanart (not just enough to breakeven with the cost of printing/binding/laminating or whatever) when it goes against copyrights? I'm missing something here, I'm sure of it. DD8 *failtrain*

I'm really curious! :U There's some whopping stories out there, I've been hearing some already! =OOOO


I myself have gotten through life with virtually nothing xDD;I've only had 8 stitches and dislocated my elbows a few times, but other than that....I really have got nothing *__*

  • So, tell me of your brave endurances? ;A; I know there's some pretty terrible situations out there. If you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd be really interested in hearing about it. :hug: I like a good ol' war story! ;D (lol, not real wars though, obviously! xD;; )

  • Speaking of wars, my bro in law's been sent to Afghanistan. He's going to pick up troops and drop off supplies though, so it's not like he's getting in an extreme amount of danger. He'll fly out in the morning (with the RAF) and be back the next day, and he'll do this for a little while until the work is done I guess. I'm not worried, the only dangers he has are the ones generally associated with flying xD;; We've been told it's completley safe anyway .___.

    I watch some really awesome people, who draw really, really quickly. I wouldn't watch them if I didn't like it, obviously, but I've realised it's getting a bit overwhelming..

    Like, I'm spending all my time trying to comment on around 15 submissions made in 1 week by just 1 person, when someone submits something detailed, unique and in short AMAZING,...and I don't even look at it?? I don't even realise I've missed someone's last 2 or 3 pictures cause I'm too busy running after someone else all the time :| :iconwhutplz: There is such a thing as too much awesomeness...

    ARGH, let me explain this better!! *fail* It's like, yes I love your work, but it looks like your last dev, and the one before that, and the one before that too. Drawing anime portraits with the same expression is a skill, and it's one you've already perfected. Try something...else? DD; I don't mean to sound like a biatch for saying this, but I'm running out of things to say about what is essentially the same picture, drawn with maybe a different hair or eye colour occasionally. I'm looking back at my own gallery, and I've done it. Fook yeah.

    People can say 'WELL IF U DUN LEIK IT WHY WATCH THEM???', and they're probably right, but you know what? I have friends and people I really love on this site. Subsequently, I love thier art too. But you can have too much of a good thing.

    I don't mean to sound like a whiny 15 year old troll, but I am one, so that's how it comes across :U


    TL;DR:

    My dev inbox is currently being spammed by the same few people. I'd say it's only about 3% of the people I watch who do it, but nearly 100% of my attention is going on them. WHUT?? :| I'm not going to -watch you, but I'm just saying: maybe spend a little more time on one unique, detailed piece instead of submitting doodle after doodle after doodle with the same pose, no background, and the same expression. I am also a culprit of this TTATT *fail train*

    In other news, I finished watching Toradora! :iconwantplz: I highly recommend it - the ending was everything I wanted it to be!! 8D I usually don't like romantic comedies in anime (or any kind of shoujo) because they kind of go overboard with the romance (too sweet for meee ;A; ), and it's often very instantanious.

    With this, however, it had just the right amount of subtlety, and I love the big bro/little sister relationship between Ryuji and Taiga~ *___* Very cute without having to be romantic~!

    My dev inbox builds up so quickly these days, it's difficult to keep up. Some people (I don't know how they can do this so often; they're like drawing MACHINES XD) update with 3 or 4 pictures a day X__x

    That's just in their nature to do so, and if I didn't love it, then I wouldn't be watching them : )
