Recently, I have been going through some unwanted drama, and I don't really know what to do. But yea, back to the point of this journal. I haven't been listening to AFI as much as I used to; this is not to say I am losing interest, but for right now, they are not on my priority list. Another thing, I am extreeemely stressed and have no time for anything fun, including drawing. School sucks the life out of everything.

Today in class, I got in a somewhat heated argument with a fellow classmate of mine. I am usually passive agressive, but there are a few things that get me riled up, which are: animal rights, people hating on AFI, and the never ending issue of homosexuality.
The argument was based on the latter.
I am going to try and keep this short and sweet and not rant on forever about it, but people are so damn ignorant when it comes to gay people.
I can't understand how people think they are any different from heterosexual people and why on earth someone would deny another individual rights just because of the way they love.
Society fosters homophobia and it is really frustrating.
This kid who sits next to me in class kept saying, "I hate fags."
And I asked him why, and he came back with, "It's gross. It says in the Bible that it is wrong."
Stop bringing up the effing Bible.
Seriously, if that is your best reasoning, just shut up.
If your "god" is so accepting of people, so loving and kind, why in the world would he "create" flawed people that are already destined for "hell?"
And then you have the fools who think people choose to go gay.
Please.
I am going to stop this before the keyboard bursts into flames from my furious typing.

By the way, I realize this is a really controversial topic, and I don't mean to offend anyone with my views. If I did, it was not intentional.

So much to cover and so little time.
Okay, well, first off, I went to the AFI show in Richmond, VA, and I met !
It was lovely meeting her and waiting a couple hours outside in her company. She finally got her Jade drawing and also got it signed by Davey (BTW, Amber, I would love it if you sent me a clearer picture somehow!).

Anyways, on to the show news.
My mom and I got there at about 4 and there weren't very many people there so we waited for about 10 mins or so before Smith came out and directed the DF members to a seperate line, and luckily I grabbed my DF card moments before exiting the car. Unfortunately for my mom, she is not in the DF (shame on her), but sweet talked Smith and managed to scoot on over to the DF only line, but at the time she had no idea who Smith was so I kindly explained to her that she just talked to the INFAMOUS Smith Puget, brother of JADE. She got somewhat excited and when he came around to hand out bracelet things, he remembered that she was with me and she promptly proceeded to hug him. I wish I got a picture because it was pretty hilarious.
Then finally, after much waiting, we were let in (my camera buried in my mom's purse and she snuck it in). I got a place one person behind the rail which was more than I could have asked for really. So we waited until Gallows came on and when they did. OH HAIL. The lead singer quickly started a circle pit which caused everyone to squeeze in super tight and I couldn't breathe. Said lead singer also did an extremely random stage dive and hit people around me in the head with his body. Lovely.

THENN, AFI came out and all was amazing. The only complaints I have are that people were singing so loud I couldn't hear AFI, at all. I couldn't hear the music or Davey. My mom moved to the back where the speakers and stuff were and partied it up back there (another girl trying to pick her up in the process). I stayed in the front and snapped photos when I remembered, "yes, I have my DSLR!" But yea, the performance was amazing, their stage presence was incredible, but the fans around me? No. Pushy, didn't care who they stepped all over to get close. But hey, we all love AFI. And like Frank Carter so eloquently stated, "You're all here to get fucked by AFI," and that we did. And I am pretty sure we all loved it.

By the end of the night, I was sweaty and gross, my mom was on the tipsy side and fangirling Jade heavily, and I was more than satisfied at witnessing the phenomenon that is AFI.

It's pretty good.
I received it in the mail today.
My favorite songs are Beautiful Thieves, End Transmission, and Okay, I Feel Better Now.
Lyrically, some songs are weak, though I don't feel this album has as much as an impact as some previous records have...maybe I need to listen to it more.
It doesn't seem as cohesive as some others have either.

MAYBE I AM BEING TOO CRITICAL!

Today was such an awful day, but I am not complaining, I just wanted to get my feelings about said incident out there.

So, I am in Honors Anatomy and Physiology.
Note I said honors, not to mention that the majority of people in this class are seniors.
Well, I don't like a good majority of the people in there but never did I think they would show their dislike towards me.

All during class, they were hitting me with paper hornets, which hurt like hell. I was pretending to sleep but saw them get up after hitting me with them and pick them off the floor. They thought I was oblivious and continued their little sick game. I got hit with 5 of them before I asked if they would stop and they acted like they had no fucking clue what I was talking about. I then proceeded to cry and I never cry.

If that tells you how bad it was.

They were laughing at me.

I am not them, I could never be. It disturbs me that they think it funny to make someone cry and feel like complete and utter shit. I felt worthless and hated, but I have moved on. I try not to brood on things.

It just amazes me that they would sit there and deny, DENY that they had hit me and then laugh while tears are streaming down my face.

What has happened to the word respect?

First off, I now remember why school sucks so much. My English teacher fails at life, she really does, and English is my favorite subject. Bleh. AP Studio Art is going to be a biootchh, but the feeling is mutual with my other classmates so we're not really good. Hah. SHIT.
AP Psychology is aight, but my teacher is weird. She randomly says "piss" after sentences.

Anyways, when I say "I will get your drawing done soon," that does not mean in a few weeks, it could be up to a couple months depending on when I get time to really get into it, especially pictures on a bigger scale. Like the 20x16 one! That's going to take some major time. But they will get done.

What douche doesn't know what modest means?!

I ended this before I finished my somewhat rant.

I went out to feed the dogs, and they have an electric fence so they can't dig out. Well, I smelled something burning and there was a bird caught up on the fence DD:

The other day, well, not the other day, a few months ago, some person IM'ed me. I have no clue who they are or how in the world they got my screen name, but nonetheless, I humored myself and talked to them for a bit. I find it is always awkward talking to someone you don't know for the first time. I stuck to the basics. I didn't give out any personal information and I even made some things up to keep the guy off my back. But today, I talked to him more and he was telling me how he is schizophrenic. Wellll, then I started getting interested because mental disorders fascinate me and whatnot. So we chatted about it and then he told me about how he used to have severe drug addictions and he was somewhat of an alcoholic. He did LSD and heroine. But he stopped all of this because he wanted a better life for himself and he wanted a clean slate, a second chance at everything he had neglected.

And so, I was just thinking about how easily drugs can overtake your life, and how nasty the substances are. Drugs have never tempted me in the least. I have seen what they can do to you and it is disturbing. I watched a show about heroine and it is extremely sad watching people who are addicted. They spend their entire lives just to get that high, if nothing else. I don't ever want to take a part in that, to be that person constantly needing such a damaging reprieve. I mean, come on, heroine completely re-wires your brain. BLAME IT ON AFGHANISTAN. Opium, people.

As for alcohol, it tastes horrid. My parents always tell me it's an "acquired taste," one that I am probably not ever going to get used to. I am not completely against drinking. I mean, if you do it in moderation, your not going to get drunk and it doesn't hurt your body. If you can't control what you are drinking, then yes, it can get bad. but I digress.

I don't know, I was just giving thought to how every single decision in your life affects what or who you become.

With AFI beginning to play shows, I just wanted to know, seeing as I have never seen them live.
I have heard mixed opinions.
Some people say they are awesome while others say Davey sucks live.
I do have the IHAV DVD and CD but that just doesn't cut it.
Plus, I am going to see them at some point and am curious as to what to expect!

So I was sitting in my parents room today and I saw a grey folder sitting in a corner and thought, "Well, gee, that looks a lot like the folder singing-Davey-performing-at-Live Earth was in."

I pick the thing up and open it.

Guess what's in it?

Yea, singing-Davey-performing-at-Live Earth. No joke.

I sat there and screamed for about 30 seconds.

I am happy I found it but really frustrated at the same time because my parents had it sitting there right under their noses.

Okay, I have never held a contest before so bear with me!

As for guidelines, I still need to nail down specifics, but obviously the picture will have to relate to AFI.

There is a theme for this contest: Moods/emotions. I will leave it for you to interpret but be creative! Si se puede!

Drawings: I will require a member(s) to be present in it, though the picture can be a candid shot, performance, photo shoot, etc. The piece can be done digitally, traditionally, etc.

Photography: Some sort of picture taken BY YOU, and I alsodon't want any photo manipulations of photos not taken by you. With that being said, you are allowed to take pictures of AFI/AFI related things (like if you set up some sort of still-life symbolic of the band or w/e), though I would rather not the picture to be of another photograph, etc.

Rules:
1) You can submit up to 2 pieces
2) Em read the guidelines!

DEADLINE IS MAY 10 Though if there is some issue with this date, just message me and I'll cut you some slack, aight??


Prizes are as follows:
1st place: Drawing of anything you prefer on 14x17 smooth bristol
2nd place: Drawing of anything you prefer on 11x14 smooth bristol (less detailed than 1st place)
3rd place: Sketch on sketch paper

All of which will be mailed to you.


There will be a first, second, and third place winner done by public vote.

If you would like to participate, you can start formulating ideas.

Today is a turning point in my life. I took all my AFI pictures down. I decided I no longer like AFI and am moving on. I am deleting this account.

But I really did take my AFI wall down. But not because I hate AFI. I am planning on painting my walls and it needed to get done anyway. But I did get both of my posters framed and all nice and pretty. And I got a frame for Shannon's Davey and he is looking all amazing and spiffy.

But yes, I will take a pic of my wall and all the pictures of them that I put in a box. It is quite a heavy box.

Please excuse my choppy writing. I am not feeling very eloquent today.

Lately, I feel like my art isn't good enough. Just looking at other people's work makes feel so inadequate and it sucks. Everything I have been drawing looks wrong. I don't know, I need to get my inspiration boosted. I know I have a couple pieces to do for people but I just don't want to mess them up. Can someone suggest a superawesomeamazing drawing idea for me?

Question. Davey Havok, Davey Havoc. Is it Havo'k' or Havo'c'? Because I know the actual word is spelled with a c but it is a stage name and I figured he took liberties with it and used a k instead...either that or he is a bad speller. Haha. But yea. I know it may be stupid but I am curious because I have always spelled it with a k.

I went to see the movie expecting, well, something better than what greeted me in that theatre.
The movie to me was like one awkward silence because the acting was a little...bleh. The editing was poor in my opinion, such as he scenes jumped around a lot and did not always follow each other logically...annnd, it did not follow the book too closely.

Other than that it was suitably entertaining...and the bad vamp, James, was pretty nice to look at.

I don't understand why everyone is like "Man Decemberunderground sucks!" Am I the only who one doesn't think that?? And what is this talk about AFI being emo? I know it's nothing new but emo doesn't exist, for me atleast.

Decemberunderground is a good album overall and one that I enjoy a lot. Just because you are an AFI fan doesn't mean you have to like their 'old stuff,' which I feel that some people feel inclined to.

Each AFI album I have holds some sort of memory for me, good or bad, but it makes it that much more important and significant to me. Lyrically, almost all the AFI albums are profound and to me, a work of art...with the exception of some of their earlier albums, which I am not too fond of.
