Since you have not heard, I was flooded out of my house back on October 16. An entire day dropped 18 inches of rain on out little town, and visited a couple inches into my home. Carpet was ruined and had to be torn out. Old tile that had been underneath had to be scraped up (with considerable effort), and soaked carpet tack strip had to be chisled up out of concrete. The process took me and my friends several weeks time, seeing that we all worked or had families to attend to. During this time while we worked on weekends and holidays, I stayed over at their place a relatively short commute away. They were so incredibly helpful I will be forever thanking them for their efforts.

I am back at home now, bare concrete floors and all, and the central heating is not working right, but I am determined to have a happy US Thanksgiving in spite of everything, or because of everything. To all of you in the US, I wish you the very best Thanksgiving possible. To those of you elsewhere, may the remainder of your holiday season be the very best possible.

Obviously, work did not slow down. In fact, we have now geared up for a second round of Emergency Grants at work, meaning we have to spend more money, meaning I have to produce MORE REPORTS. It has not helped that the state could not decide how it wanted us to report anything...again. Does not help I just spent the past weekend sick.

It would be readily apparent to anyone who strayed over into this territory, that I have not updated this place in a sickly long time. Various reasons abound for this, and readers of my "other" journal know all about them. I really have not felt motivated to do more here. I have tons of photos (or at least several dozen) sitting on my hard drive waiting to be processed, but I have just let them sit. I am sad to say that my poor camera has pretty much been sitting in the bag since I got home from my last vacation...over 6 months ago. The batteries probably need recharging by now.

I do have an idea for something to try. It involves a couple of articles I have read in the last two weeks, but it will require some time in front of the computer, and right now I do not have that. If work slows down, perhaps I will give you a look at what I am talking about. Until then:

I have a question for all the pros out there. As those of you who follow my account know, I have a tendency to "batch" update a lot of photos at one time. This is due to the fact I tend to take a large number at one time. Then, because I have such a large backlog, and a demanding job, may take weeks or months to process another large batch for upload. Not a particularly interesting or satisfying schedule. There is also the fact that my subjects seem to...repeat....

My question is, would it be better to post fewer pics more often, or should I keep the larger erratic uploads? Yes, the former would keep your DevWatch page cleaner, but I would be invading it more often....
