While I'm sad that all the fun Christmas festivities are over, I'm looking forward to New Year's Eve, my second favorite holiday. It's always a lot of fun because my mom makes a lot of great food and we all stay up watching movies until midnight. We don't usually get to go to bed until 12:30 or so, though, because my dog doesn't like fireworks and will bark if we leave him alone while they're going off.

Wow, this will probably be my last journal for this year. Maybe next year I can get a subscription and spruce it up a bit with a nice CSS. :D

First of all, I was accepted to SCAD (the Savannah College of Art and Design)! :D I'm so excited because it is my top choice for college, and getting accepted gets rid of a lot of stress. Now I've just got to finish up my portfolio and send it off (I'll post pictures once I'm done, because everything is done traditionally).

My second piece of good news is that this semester was my last semester of high school because I graduated early! I was lucky enough to have enough credits by the end of this semester, so I decided to leave, rather than stick around and take a bunch of classes I didn't need. And I can still go to the graduation ceremony and all that, so I think it works out fine. Of course, I'm not going to just be hanging out and doing nothing until the fall. I'm working on learning to drive, and as soon as I get upgraded from a learner's permit to a full license I'll be looking for a job. I'm also going to be opening up commissions in January. College takes a lot of money, so I'm going to try to earn as much as I can until then.

But since I've never done commissions before, I thought it would be good to practice making art for other people with requests! That way, when I do open commissions I'll be able to do my best on them. So I'm opening three slots for requests.

So the semester's almost over and soon it'll be winter break! I can't wait! I'm still working on putting together an art portfolio, and it's coming along very well. The only problem is that I'm getting tired of making portfolio quality art. I can't wait until I'm done with it and can do more fun art. But my traditional painting skills are improving a lot,
so that's a good thing. I'll probably do a major upload of all of my final pieces in about a month or so.

So how is everyone else doing? For those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, did you have a good time? Sorry that I've been so scarce around here, I've just been so busy. I wasn't even going to make a new journal, but I couldn't pass up the awesome Ninja Assassin promotion. Woah, I just looked at the journal options, and CSS looks crazy, so many thanks to :iconlilyas: for making this free journal skin. I don't think I could ever code one on my own.

Hey, did you notice that I've been on dA for months and I just figured out how to put the journal mood and how to get stamps? Better late then never, I guess. :D

Unfortunately, I probably won't be updating too often over the next couple of months. I'm not able to make as much art as before, because of school, and most of what I'm making is stuff for my portfolio (mostly still lifes at the moment). I don't know if I'll upload those or not. But I figure that there's only just so many still lifes a person can take, so I'm sure I'll have a couple of fun things to show you guys eventually.

Speaking of my portfolio, do any of you have college art portfolio tips? I've already looked up the colleges that I want to go to and have seen what they generally want and recommend, but I thought that maybe you guys would have some good tips or suggestions for me, especially from your own experiences. I want to major in 3D character animation, and maybe minor in illustration or sequential art, though it doesn't seem like most colleges want major-specific portfolios.

Well, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive. You probably won't hear from me again until next weekend. Right now I'm off to go through all the messages and deviations in my watch box. Both number in the hundreds so please forgive me if I just :+fav: and run. :)

First off, the AC's fixed, so I'm not sweltering to death anymore.

Secondly, it's a new month! And I decided about a week ago that when July came around I would expand myself as an artist. I'm going to draw different animals, maybe some fantasy or anthro, and I'm going to make myself start practicing humans again. On top of that, I'm going to try to get back into making art in traditional media and work more on my CG. And of course I'll keep drawing canines and doing digital art. So I just wanted to give you guys a head's up on what to expect in the coming month. It should be interesting.

Seriously, people. I AM SO HOT. Our air-conditioner broke yesterday and the house has been unbearably hot ever since. That's because it's like 90 something outside. So we got some fans and window air-conditioners, which have helped a lot, but they only keep the room they're in cool. So as soon as you leave the room it's like you walked into a sauna. And my poor dog is walking around panting. We're trying to keep him cool by keeping him in the coolest rooms and giving him icecubes in his water, but he's still got all his fur. I'm really hoping that's its nothing too major, and that the AC repair people will be able to fix it tomorrow.

But at least I got a new drawing book today, which makes me feel better! It's "The Art of Animal Drawing" by Ken Hultgren, who used to be a Disney animator. I think it'll help me make my poses more dynamic, so I can't wait to try it out. But I've got to cool off a bit first.

Your image can either be a full body one or a head/bust one. To find the price of a head/bust commission, add up the price the commission would be as a full body, then multiply by .75.
