So, The Callahan is almost finished - which means that it is finished until I decide it isn't finished, at which point I will tweak it and then declare it finished again.

...Anyway.

I've been working on some new projects as of late, which will hopefully show up on DA sometime in the near-to-moderately-distant future. They each present a nontrivial set of challenges, but nevertheless I'm excited because I feel they each represent a nontrivial step up from where my work has been to date.

Thus, for the inquiring minds, a brief glimpse at things to come:

1. Project Phantasm

I've tried designing starships several times, but I've never been very content with the results. This time, I'm determined to get it right - every aspect of this ship is going to be as perfect as I can possibly make it. What kind of ship, you ask? A completely self-contained stealth warship, equipped to successfully counter any threat imaginable. The fifty-foot shark - the one that everybody knows is out there, but nobody has ever seen.

2. Project Theodore

A new generation of combat mecha, picking up where the T-HD Mark 1 left off. T-X Terminator meets War Machine armor, the T-HD Mark 2 will incorporate even more advanced flight capability and integrated offensive/defensive hardware into a chassis capable of shrugging off unbelievable amounts of punishment. Additionally, the T-HD Mark 2 will be mission-customizable via a system of external equipment hardpoints. A one-machine army.

Stay strange, fellow deviants.

Regards,
Omega

So, those who have been paying close attention to my DA account for the past few weeks may have noticed that the Callahan has been undergoing quite a few little changes, and as the designer, I feel that an explanation is in order.

For some reason, every time I decide to make a design semi-permanent - by posting a rendered image on a website, for example - I end up finding things that I want to change about it immediately thereafter. As one might imagine, it's both annoying and time-consuming to continually update renders, and thus, I've tried to upload work only when absolutely convinced that a design wasn't going to need updating anytime soon. However, in my excitement over the nearly-completed state of this particular design, I overlooked quite a few small details which should have been settled before any renders were uploaded.

...Oops.

Anyway, I've just uploaded the latest re-render of the Callahan, and I'm fairly certain that this will be one of the last. Not THE last, because I still have a few tiny details left to work out, but as of Wednesday, July 8th, approximately 1:00am, the design is ALMOST complete.

I'll make a journal entry or give some other notification when everything is 100% finalized, but in the meantime, it's probably safe to say that nothing else major is going to change.

...Probably.

Stay strange, fellow deviants.

Regards,
Omega

...sleeker, snazzier, sexier than they were before.

But, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Having recently purchased Adobe Design Premium CS4, I am now in possession of Adobe Flash.

I'm now in the process of revamping my website in Flash, which I expect to take some time, considering the amount of content involved.

However, it recently occurred to me that since DeviantArt supports the upload of .swf files (or appears to), I can revamp the work I have here in preparation for the big re-release.

This is probably going to take a few days/weeks, and I'm not sure whether I'll simply replace the old images with flash files or delete the old ones and upload new entries. Any opinions?

Stay strange, fellow deviants.

Regards,
Omega
