Instead of being more 'belly dancer-ish', I'm going to go for the uncivilized, mute, forest-dwelling, wild child. Sort of a 'feral' look.
I'm going to drop the shiny coins and things, and instead replace them with strings of leaves and dried berries, more natural, forest-like things. I'm also planning to make my hair sort of frizzy and tangled looking and, with the use of some make-up, make my eyes look a bit wild and sleep-deprived. I wouldn't mind some war-paint either, as well as some henna patterns up the hands and feet. I'll probably put the gobs of my chicken's feathers that I've been picking up to good use, by either tucking a couple into my necklaces or hair.
What would be really awesome is if I could get ahold of some antlers to wear atop my head, with some feathery or leafy bits hanging from them.

It would be fun to growl at people.

I might upload a concept drawing.

Graphics by *aishwaryakhan
CSS by =moonfreak

So when I was bored a couple weeks back I decided to make some steampunk goggles for myself, so I did and they are pretty awesome. (If I do say so myself.) I made 'em out of some jar lid rings, spare leather, glass, and some spare brass bolts. As well as a magnifying glass, which is mounted on a swivel in front of the right eye.

Well, it also so happens that the local Applebutter festival is coming up, in which everyone sells their crafts and such. During this time, my schools art club is raising money to go up to Chicago by selling handmade things at the Applebutter festival. Sooo...I decided it would be cool if I could make a couple pairs of goggles (minus the magnifying glass) to donate for art club to sell, since a lot of people have been wanting to buy them from me.

So nooow I have less than 24 hours to make 4 more pairs of goggles, since I made 2 yesterday. (Yay procrastination!) So I am forming an assembly-line of goggle-making-madness all today!

Many pictures shall ensue!

Along with some help from my dad.
But if I succeed, I get a healthy, young, trainable horse, that I can do events with. Which has been something I always wanted.

Maybe it's just the ridiculous amounts of caffeine that I have drank in the past 24 hours, or the lack of sleep, or the techno music playing everywhere I go, or maybe just the fact that it's been a couple of months since my last fix of rave-action. Even if they are just Anime Convention raves, they are still hella fun with friends. Even if they are small, that only means I can steal the show with some fancy poi spinning. (Yay, no competition to show me up!)

But I'm already itching for next years cons and raves, and it's only OKTOBER.

And I'm thinking that as long as I can find a job, I can plant some money into new rave gear (changing my colors from green and black, to orange and black) and I'm definitely going to grab some new poi while I'm at it. However, this also means that I need to make new hair falls, and I'm thinking they are going to be spiky and crazy...somehow. And new goggle lenses...

But anyway. I'm going to go for a total REVAMP.
And this time I'm takin' some pictures...

---------------------------------------------------------

On a different note, I had a blast yesterday.
Playing tackle-stab-kill-slip-n-slide tag has never been funner.
And climbing trees in rave-shorts is fun. If not impossible. (I did it though!)
Also watching people molest each other on a trampoline. Very amusing.
And wandering around Wal-Mart at 2 am with crazy company.
And scaring children at TGI Fridays as well.
Stealing a marker and drawing kitty-faces on everything in sight can also be productive,
As is the boyfriend losing his chocolate bar out the sunroof window and us having to pull over to get it off the roof...
And of course, flying down the highway at 70mph with half your body out the passenger window
whilst wearing rave-goggles is the most favorite...

Mmmm,coffee...
*wanders off in mid-sentence*

So today was my first day of school, and I must say, it all went much better than what I was expected.
I got up on time, packed my lunch, cooked breakfast, got ready. Went to school, walked in the door, and got to talk to all of my colorful friends. Some rather tired and disgruntled, and others a little too excited. Nonetheless, it was sort of refreshing; I have been winging it mainly by myself this summer. So it was nice to see everyone.
My classes were nice, AP art, Creative Writing, Earth Science, and College Prep Algebra, all with more than decent, friendly teachers. AP art still seems daunting. 25 High Quality works done in a year, sounds easy...but I couldn't do it last year. Hopefully I can pull it off this year. I still can't decide what my art concentration of 12 pieces should be centered around. I might do a poll for kicks.
I'm sort of excited about Creative Writing, the teacher seems nice enough, but I'm not sure. I'd still like to write more anyway, and this class gives me the opportunity to do so. So it's all good.
My Earth Science teacher is a big dork. She has a basement full of rocks and fossils, and she could ramble about ancient oceans and volcanoes for hours. She talks about how she used to sneak into random parks and bluffs near highways to go rock hunting with her family. I love it.
My Algebra teacher is very friendly and curious about everyone. He seems like a very helpful sort of guy, which I like. Especially since it's math. And we don't have to keep everything in a binder, "notebooks are fine, no need to lug around a giant binder if you can just write it all in a little notebook." I couldn't agree more.
I'm also aiding during my study hall hour, so I get to spend my study hall in the Art Room helping the teacher with whatever she needs. Or I can work on my art concentration. She's going to try and talk the principle into allowing laptops so that we can do digital art in the class. Which would be awesome.
I'm also tossing around the idea of joining the school cross-country running team. Not sure though. I'm fighting my laziness.

In other news:
-I went to the dentist.
-My car got broken into. (but nothing was stolen)
-I'm trying to buy a pair of polka-dotted rain boots so I can go trudging around the forest when it rains. And look goofy. All at once.
-I'm making essential oils myself, with rose in one jar and lemon balm in the other.
-My cat hates me, because I have to put ear-mite medicine in her ears.
-I've been working out a lot. Running, stretching, yoga, push-ups, lunges, etc.
-I'm learning how to longe line my horse.

My newest friend!

For those that don't know, my birthday was yesterday. So, the day before my birthday, my Dad decided to take me on a shopping spree, (which really wasn't a shopping spree because we only spent $9.15), BUT we went to an antique store, (because I love useless junk), and I bought this adorably simple stuffed animal crow. Which has come to be named "Oliver".
He wears an old shirt with overalls, and a tie. He also has button eyes. He was $3.85.
So the more I thought about something I could do with this goofy little bird, the more it seemed fun to just take pictures of him. (Since I have a working camera now) So, ever since I bought him, I've been taking him EVERYWHERE with me. We even made him a birthday hat for my birthday. (My moms in on this too) So then I decided to make him his own deviantart page so that I could make a little project out of all the pictures I take of him around the city.

So, here it is:

Enjoy!

So I went to NatsuCon (an anime convention in St.Louis) and it was the worst convention I have ever been to, out of the five I've gone to total.
It wasn't the con-goers, or even the people running the convention. It was the hotel, they were horrible, and obviously didn't know what they were getting into when they said yes to hosting a convention. They were rude and not very supportive at all. If you were standing in the lobby, they would tell you to go to your room. If you stood outside, they told you to go to your room. If you were in the halls, they told you to go to your room.
I can understand that there are fire codes, other patrons, and the fact that it was a ridiculously small hotel, but they were just downright rude about some things. Such as calling the cops on con-goers who were loitering in the lobby.
Why would you host a convention willingly, and then call the cops on con-goers who were in the hotel? And then kick them out when they complained about it?
We PAID to be there, for room and registration, and even food at their restaurant.

Not to mention their restaurant took over an HOUR to get us chicken strips, onion rings, and nachos...

And my 20$, industrial size, titanium, neon green, indistructable coffee thermos got stolen. I could've held a funeral, I loved that thing.

...it didn't even leak coffee when you held it upside down. ;_;

R.I.P Giant Green Coffee Thermos. It was amazing. During the day we were hot, so we made water-balloon poi. Then once night came around we decided to see what would happen if we tied sparklers to string and spun those around. Which was very short-lived, but very fun at the same time. THEN, we got a bit confident after that and decided to make our own fire-poi. Which went surprisingly well, given we used common-sense and kept plenty of water and wet towels around. :]
It was an amazing experience though, and something I would definitely like to pursue. The roar of the fire was a surprise, I never thought that it would be as loud as it was. It was mindblowing, at least to me. =]

Not too long ago I remade my fire poi, this time with better chains and fingerloops, and did a second burn at my house (instead of Auro's). Beforehand I soaked my head and hair in water and slung a wet towel over my shoulders as precautions. I started spinning, but this time I was distracted more so than when I spun the first time, and my fingerloops were faulty. Not in the way that they could come loose or anything, but they were too long and provided little control. And when even doing something as simple as a shoulder reel, they did not work. Instead, they got caught behind me, swung around, and caught me right behind the ear. No real damage done, just some singed hair and a very small burn on my arm, but enough to make me say: "More practice first." I didn't really sleep well that night.

But anyway, my first fire-poi-palooza (as well as our sparkler and water balloon poi) is on YouTube.
My name on there is RoflWaffleCat. Just type it into the search box and I should be there spinning poi. :]

We have some walmart adventures on there as well.

Summer is here and you know what that means! (or do you? )
But anyway....it means CAMPING! (for me at least)

So I got out of school on Monday and my friend (Auro) and I decided to go camping to kick off the start of our summer! We had a blast acting like 5-year-olds and running around kayaking on the lake, catching lizards, and mocking the woodpeckers. (KAKAW?!)
Our place of stay was my grandparent's farm of 80 acres, which is equipped with a camping area, 2 lakes, 3 horses (one of which is mine), a barn, a hammock (right next to the lake too!) and lots of places to run around like a hooligan.
We swam in the lake (even though we weren't supposed to..), we took turns riding my horse bareback (even though we weren't supposed to..), and we even -both- tried to fit on my horse (It's a good thing I have a ridiculously patient horse..), which didn't work well at all.
We saw all sorts of critters: muskrats, mice (we caught one!), lizards (we caught 4!), and we found a piliated woodpeckers nest complete with 5 eggs in the side of a dead tree.
That night we decided that since the weather was warm and nice, that we didn't even need to set up the tent. So, we ended up fighting over the hammock. We BOTH ended up sleeping in it. We had four blankets, 3 of which Auro got. I ended up sleeping in my shorts and tank-top, cocooned in my one little fuzzy blanket with my jacket on. I hardly slept, and finally got up at 5am to start up the fire because it turned out it wasn't as warm as I thought it would be.
When we both finally made it back home I took a shower, counting a total of 74 mosquito bites, 53 of which were on my right leg. The leg that the blanket didn't cover.. 4 on my left hand as well.
But it was totally worth it!

One word. Poi.
For those of you who don't know what poi is, it's basically swinging around some sort of weights (beanbags, bags of rice, etc.) on the end of strings in a rather pretty/graceful/flowing way. Similar to glowstringing, which is what I started off doing.
There's lots of different kinds of poi (sock poi, LED lighted poi, fire poi, flag poi, veil poi, and ribbony-like poi), and for the past month I've been fiddling around with all of these things (except for fire poi..) and I've been having a bunch of fun. :]
I started off using sock poi (2 long socks with rice in the ends) to get the hang of things, but they started to fall apart and so they've migrated their way to the hands of a friend (you know who you are), and now I'm using some "all natural" poi that I've made. Which is made out of two little green sacks of birdseed (god forbid they ever explode indoors) tied with jute string. There's two leather finger loops on each string, which are really comfortable. As well as red/orange/yellow ribbons on one and blue/white ribbons on the other. They look pretty in the light. The only downfall is that I can't do a lot with them because the ribbons get in the way, but oh well.
Just today I ordered two LED strobe poi online, so I'm pretty excited. I've seen them up close before and they look pretty cool, so yay! The only worry is that the expected date of arrival is before May 16, and the upcoming Anime Convention is on May 8. So I would really like to have them before the con so I can play around with them and use them at the rave 'n stuff.
But as far as poi moves go I've still got tons to learn, so far I've got down:
2-beat weave, 3-beat weave, 3-beat anti-spin weave, windmill, arm wraps, leg wraps, corkscrews, and air wraps.
Amongst other things such as turning while weaving, taking a weave under the legs, and I'm currently learning hyperloops/orbitals. :]
I spent 4 hours on my back porch today listening to rain, pretty music, and just spinning 'em all around. I finally got the air-wraps down, but hyperloops still confuse me :[ Tomorrow's goal is going to be the 5-beat weave and mastering hyperloops~~

Most of this is for self reference later, but if you want to check anything out youtube has tons of glowstringing and poi videos that give you a general idea. Playpoi.com is a pretty awesomesauce website too.

On a side note, while I was moving an outdoor table out of my way on the back porch I managed to get a splinter that was about an inch long stuck in the ball of my foot, way deep. So I had fun yelling "OOOOWWWW" for 45 minutes while my Mom dug it out with a needle and tweezers. Now I just have my foot wrapped in electrical tape and a cotton pad. Boy how do I manage these things? XD

I'm very happy today. I guess it's just one of those days where I just kind of sit back and look around and say, "All is going well."
I found an artist today who really inspired me, I loved the messages his art gave. I'm also looking forward to going to an Anime Convention this weekend with some close friends. I'm not really into the whole anime thing, but we all dress up all random and crazy and just be ourselves. We fit right in.
I'm also happy that I got to be outside for the past two days in the 60 degree weather that has floated over us for a few days. It's really refreshing, I feel like myself again. I can leave my window open all night and not be cold, it's really wonderful. I guess the winter weather kind of beat down my spirits over the months. I'm excited for the coming summer days of river-swimming and campfire-making. I've made some new friends as well and everything is really great. I just needed to share.

:]

P.S (The link to the person's site who really caught my attention is: [link]
I really recommend clicking into the "Indoor" section, he's got some really neat concepts and themes in his art. I like them, even if all of them aren't positive. They are truthful in a way.)

...is kinda interesting. XD
This is the first time I've ever written in a DA journal, but I suppose it'll be fun. ^__^

So some random ramblings ensue:

I plan to make more art, I'm in an AP class at the moment so I have lots of work sitting around the art room, but I have yet to do a long over-due art dump. We have to do a 12 piece concentration that we are working on and so far I only have around 3 of the 12 done, but y'know, I'll finish it eventually like I always do.

On another note, my chicken (we have four) is sick. Her name is Petunia and she is a Black Australorp, I'll have to post some pretty pictures of our chickens sometime. :] I guess she isn't really 'sick' but since it's wintertime the chickens aren't getting as much protein and they are starting to pick on each other (which can escalate to cannibalism I hear). Usually in the warmer months they get a decent supply of bugs and worms, along with grass. (I let them out of their coop and into the yard a lot) So it hasn't been a problem until now (this is their first winter).

But back to my chicken. She seems to be the smallest and at the bottom of the pecking order, so she's been kind of beaten up by the other chickens. She has a bald spot on her lower back and one of her legs has a little spot where they broke the skin. We treated her with neosporin and blue cote and cleaned her all up and took care of her, and now all of the chickens are on a good-amount-of-protein diet. So they all seem to be improving and no more pecking and picking has been going on.

...and I've never realized how long I could ramble about my chickens for...
lawl.

Peace.
