I figure its past due for an update. My life is so important to me; I just have to share it!

Truth be told, nothing much has happened. My studies are going well, although I'm busier than ever. If I continue to work hard, it's possible that I'll be able to graduate within another three years, with a double major (English/Psychology) and a minor (International Studies). Then, hopefully (and here's the biggest news): I'm off to Harvard Law.

Yes, that's right.

I've decided to really push for the big time, and aim as high as I can. So far, I have the GPA and the writing skills. I hope to take a couple of classes dealing with law, so I can have at least a basic knowledge of jurisprudence.

Why law? you might ask. Well, I have always borne an enormous interest, and it could prove invaluable in the arena of international politics. That, and there are some other reasons. And no, I'm not the least bit afraid that it'll be too difficult. My mom suggested I should run for President someday. She's such a riot!

I also will probably plan to pursue a Masters (and quite probably Doctorate, as well) in Psychology, and possibly English as well. (It'd be fun to go to Oxford for that.) I love both fields vastly; I won't bear leaving them.

For those of you who are privy to the happenings in my life, I plan to write a sequel to last summer's theater production. (Which was a smash hit, in case you didn't realize.) It's going to be raw, and deep, and beautiful. I can't wait. I might even direct a play at Theater North, provided I get my ass moving...heh.

I doubt many will read this, but that's not so important. I just wanted to get this all down in text, so I could see it for myself. If anything else comes up, I swear I'll give it due attention. Until, next time:
It's the start of my second year as an English Major at NMU. Today is the first official day of classes, and I don't start until 2 o'clock this afternoon. Ah, for late starts.

I'm not going to really say anything beyond that; no preaching this time, or exciting news. (Not that I can remember at the moment, anyway. Wait, no. That'd be a lie -- I have my Eagle Scout Court of Honor next weekend. Finally, after years and years in Boy Scouts, I'm getting rewarded! Yay!)

Herm...sorry 'bout that.

Mmm...I will also be posting a few new poems. Nothing too spectacular, and no, I'm not turning into a poet. It's just that every so often, I feel inspired.

I had the glorious opportunity to see Edward James Olmos in person last night. I'm walking on sunbeams and butterfly backs. For those of you who have no idea who he is, just know that he's a famous actor, and he's very important to me. He plays one of the major characters in the best show on television: Battlestar Galactica. (Which, by the way is the most downloaded show on the web, and thereby possibly the most watched television show in the world.) Eddie was amazing; kind, funny, charismatic, and smart. I would trade my soul to see him again. (Okay, that's a lie. I actually *like* my soul, contrary to popular belief. I would trade large sums of money, however.)

I have to read Jane Austen's "Emma" for my Applied Literary Theory class. Unfortunately, I have to have it completely consumed by Thursday, and it's a slow read and not exactly short. I do love Emma, though. She's so complex.

I register for more classes on Friday. I'd better get into the ones I want.

I had more to say...but, oh well.
I'm Gaius Baltar, and I approve this silly little message.

There is a place in the universe where all of the conventions of society go when they have the misfortune of being outdated and outclassed by more recent developments.

Sometimes it's a shame, sometimes not. This place is a place where you can find such things as '80s cell phones, Madonna, and now, apparently DeviantArt. (Poorly handled cliches of the aforeused variety have - strangely - not fallen into this cultural...super-massive black hole where particles and even light cease to be. Ha! DeviantArt has fallen off the map, and I doubt it's coming back. What with the advent of blogs and boards and such, like MySpace and Facebook, people have forgotten about the art of things. Literally. Or at least, they choose to ignore it.

Greetings and Salutations, all. I hope you are having a wonderful time doing whoever or whatever occupies your schedule. I'm going to keep this short.

I would like to direct your respected attentions to my new post.

Please try your very hardest not to scream. It's poetry.

I'm not a poet, although I love words and did enjoy writing this one. I would like to thank your in advance for your patience and whatnot.

I also seem to recall mentioning something several months ago about posting more stuff. Well, I'll say it once more. This is the first of several more short pieces I would like to show everyone. (Not poetry, mind you. I can barely spell the damn word.)

I would also like to breathe a massive sigh of relief. My exams are done, and I think I did well on them. Actually, I think I'm on the Dean's list. That'd be fun. I'm fairly proud of myself this semester. Yes, fairly proud indeed. Thank you all of my friends. Thank you all of my fans, too. If I'm voted Miss America, I will strive for World peace. I promise.

Thank you. Good night, and good luck.

The Best Drama on TV.
That's what Battlestar Galactica is.*

Screw the fact that it's SciFi. It's the best damn drama on network television, and I'll kill anyone who says otherwise. It's brilliant, and that's a fact. Just watch a few episodes. Go on, I dare ya. It's epic, it's subtle, it's beautiful, it's raw. It has all the qualities of my writing. Oh wait. THAT is not fact. Darn. Hee.

No really, try it. It'll make you cry.

And the music! Oh! The music...*drools*

First order of business - Battlestar Galactica is a brilliant TV show. Madonna is silly but I love her. (That was the second order of business. And the third - ) I love mini-bagels with cream cheese! (Bagels seem to be a persistant topic in my journal entries.)

At the moment, I really oughta be doing my English homework. I think however, the world deserves an update on my life. And so I shall do just that.

I recently (as in a month ago) got a small collection of parts in a play on Northern's main stage - no small feat for a freshman, if I may say so myself. And I do. The play is called Tell-Tale and it deals with the last four days of Edgar Allen Poe's rather morose life. The happenings of those last four days are somewhat obscure. Which gives delightful free reign to inspired artists. Such as playwright Rebecca Gorman. Rehearsals start today, and the performance starts Nov. 15. A month of 4-5 hour daily practices. Aiee!

I have started to run as a form of excercise. It is positively painful. Still, since I can't bike (or at least as hard as I'd like), it'll have to make do. It is - arguably - fun.

And oh, I have to write a poem for English. Ack! I'm not very sure I'll be able to pull in off without inducing convulsions and eye-twiching. Oh!

I attended my first Wildcat hockey game last weekend. It was actually my first hockey game ever. We won, natuarally. I had so much fun, I wanted to buy a Wildcat Hockey t-shirt immediatly thereafter. Luckily for my pocketbook, the University bookstore was closed. I'm still hoping to attend all of the games this semester. Sieve!

Well, I should go and finish my homework. I shall issue further edicts at a later date. Until then, please enjoy your meaningful existences!
It's big and it's all mine.

I have classes, a nice room in a nice hall. I have friends. A laptop. A cell phone. Unlimited food. Books galore. A city to explore (with parks and bookstores.) Libraries. Tons of groups to join.

The possiblities are endless.

I'm actually settling in quite nicely. I'm a little homesick; who wouldn't be? I've found my high school friends and I like my classes so far. I just hope I get into an English class - I've been having some trouble getting into the one I want. And Christ - I'm an English major! You think they would give us the right to choose first. Sheesh.

Anywho. I wish I had more minutes for my phone; I wish we a had our fridge. I also want a big screen TV w/ a dvd player. Grrr!

Anyway.

I'm here, and the University lies at my fingertips. Someone once told me that I have the talent, the disposition and the resources to go very far. Call me ego-centric, but I believe them, and in myself. So, if anyone sees me not making the most out of my college experience - slap me! This is going to be fun...
Well, simply smashing folks! Toodle-pip wot, wot. By the by, I'm coming home over Labor Day weekend. (That was random.)

Yes, that is correct. I have return to Deviant Art. I expect you all to call on me at my home address with gifts and praise. At once!

Oh dear. Please forgive my egocentric side.

Yes, I am back. My goodness how the thoughts and actions of several months do pile up! And...(prepare for the cliche)...I don't know were to begin.

Well. I've taken up roadbiking over the summer, and you may see me occasionally sweating up and down hills. I turned 18, at long last. I've gone hiking in several national forests and parks. I'm going camping in two weeks, shortly before school starts. But I digress.

I've earned the Eagle Scout Rank. Finally, after 8 years of hard work. It's Scouting's highest rank, and *very* prestigous. Yay for me!

I've also joined the Teen Advisory Board, which is attached to the Ironwood Carnegie Library. That's fun. I've read some good books. (Who doesn't?)

I've done...aw shucks. Who the hell wants to listen to me tell them about every little thing I've done? If anything, *that's* egocentric. The bottom line is this: I have had a fun summer so far, and it's flown by.

There was one thing that wasn't fun, however. Several months ago, my mother found out her spleen was enlarged. Like by 10 times. Anyway the months filled up and it was for the most part, dismissed, by both the doctors and us. About two weeks ago, my parents finally decided it was time to do something about it and they went to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

There, we received a bit of shocking information. My mother has a very rare disease of the bone marrow. She was told it is incurable, and will slowly, slowly kill her. The average patient lives ten years after diagnosis. So. There. Some people live a long time with it, others not. She has a good shot at the former because she is relatively young and medical science is advancing in leaps and bounds. Still, if she cannot work, then my lifestyle could change *very* quickly.

And so, that was the one bit of trauma for the summer. The shock is slowly wearing off. Anywho...

That's all folks.

Smashing.

As my senior year draws to a close, I realize that I am pumped for summer...and what lies beyond. However, I am starting to get nostalgic. I remember all the things I've done, and while I would never go back, I find myself missing them...odd. I'm going to miss all of my classmates.

Oh well. Many of my friends are going to Northern, so I won't be that lonely, and I'm sure I'll see my other classmates off and on over the years.

Hmm...is it just me or is this a really rambling journal? I'm used to more organized ones, I guess.

Twelfth Night opens this Thursday at Theatre North. Yippie.

Heh.

I am currently writing this at Mr. Boyd's, where I am house sitting for the weekend. I eat his food, listen to his massive cd collection, play on his brilliant computer and...oh yes, keep his dog company. What fun!

So as I bring this to a close,
I have a dog's head nuzzled between my legs holding a squeaky toy...
I am supposed to say six odd, little known things about myself...sadley, all of the people I *could* tag have already been tagged. Oh well, here goes:

1) I am Buddhist. Well, seriously studying it. I have made no formal commitments - but then you don't have to. I find it strangely comforting. It suits me.

2) I believe that trees are alive. Yes, I know - technically they are. But I think that they are actually sentient. Creepy, I know, but I just have always had an affinity with trees.

3) I talk to myself - incessantly. No matter where I am.

4) I eat paper. Yup - usually the corners off things. Books, magazines, assignments - you name it.

5) I eat constantly. I love food. Let me into your kitchen, give me some chow - and by the time I leave, your kitchen might be empty.

6) I like to shop. I know it's strange for a guy...well, kinda. But I do! Especially in a book store!

I tag...

That's with a six. Yup. A six, not a five - it's a new year. Exciting, eh? Depends what you prefer; me, I'm partial to fives and sevens.

So it's 2006 - year of the BOODY HELL IT'S PENGUINS!

We can only hope not.

I hope everyone's Christmas and New Years went as well as mine. I got to do a lot of dancin', and got quite a few nice presents. An iPod, for one. Sadly, I have to send it back, because it's defective. They're due to get me another...right. They also said it would take less than two days to get the shipping box. Well, a week later, it finally arrived. Yeah. Oh, and my mother's clinic got brand-spankin' new computers. They're kick-ass. Yeah.

Almost second semester of my senior year. Where the hell did the time go? All of you who said it would fly, you're right. But, hey. It's alright. I cannot wait to get out of school and confront my future. Actually, it's the future part I'm most afraid of...but I won't talk about that now...

Remember what I said back in June - Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side. Hell yeah.

On to other things. I plan to post a series of short fiction, all of which deal with school and how crazy it is. AP Lit, Spanish, Physics, you name it. Crazy. Mad crazy. Insane. They will be meant to be 'amusing.' Note: meant.

Beyond all that, I really have nothing to say. Oh: Mrs. Fashbaugh is having tryouts for Twelfth Night at the end of Feb. (I think...) Speaking of Shakespeare...you should all watch the movie Henry V. An adaptation of the play. It's awesome.

And so.

Here's to 2006.

This Is Just To Say
by William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums

and which
you were probably
saving
they were delicious
and so cold

Well, it's here! School starts tomorrow - Senior year. What a crazy, happy, depressing, scary thought. Anyway. Yeah. Not really all that thrilled that school's starting up...
My summer was great - concerts, swimming, theatre, camping, friends, family, you name it. Tons o' fun... School has potential to be fun though...we'll see. Anyway. Yeah.
Read some good books, had a fun birthday. Saw some good movies, that kind of thing. Yeah. Anyway. I'm hungry.
Well, that's all folks...just random rants.

HOLY TOASTERS!

Listening to: Scotland the Brave
Reading: Black Orchids - A Nero Wolfe Mystery

Well, well. I'm still here. I've been on a bagel/writing stint lately. This is how it goes: I like bagels. I like mini bagels. I like bagels and butter. I like bagels and jam. I also like the family toaster. It's an old one-slotter, and we've had it for as long as I can remember...(going on 17 years...mabey more). And it's still hanging in there. In fact, it works better than any other toaster I've toasted in. The only downfall is that you can only toast one bagel at a time...*sigh* Oh, and of course I've been working on a piece of fantasy prose that I started a while ago. It's finally coming into startling clarity! Yay!

You may ask why I am raving about bagels and toasters (and writing)...and I'll say..."Hmm...good question..."

Anyway. I'm working on my Eagle Scout rank. Bout 98% there too. (Yes, I'm still a Boy Scout. So you can just go screw yourself...hmph!) Also, Ironwood Theatre's production of Chicago was astounding! I saw it 3 times. Heh. Gracious, that's a great musical...

Hmm...that's about it...

Basically, just another random rant.

But!

That doesn't mean I won't keep trying to make the most of it! I mean, come on! There are Ren. Faires to go to, people and places to see, and my 17th birthday to experience. Yay!

Just remember everyone,

Yay! Yippie! Summer! Ah, summer! You've finally arrived and stepped off the plane! I hope you didn't have too many problems with customs. They're a bit picky nowadays. Welcome to the (Formerly) Frozen North!

Well folks, school is out (except for exams) and the seniors are preparing for graduation commencement. This means I am a senior next year. Hmm...kind of frightening, I suppose.

My summer plans: Who knows? Work? Play? Travel? Revelment? Ah well, likely a bit of each! I do want to take a turn at being mad. I think I will become a slice of lemon being dipped repeatedly into a gin and tonic. Or a bowl of petunias. The next HP volume is scheduled to be released, as well as some interesting looking movies. I plan to do a good deal of writing this summer, and mabey get a job at the local library. We'll see if I have the...time. Heh.

So that's what's up in my world! How 'bout yours?!?

As of this moment, I would like to say to everyone - USE THE FORCE!!! ...um, Luke. (heh)

Well, then. I went to prom on Saturday. It was smashing. Music was great, food was...well, great. 'Cept for the plastic silverware wrapped in nice n' dandy cloth napkins. Whats up with that?! I danced and made merry. (With fizzy, non-alchoholic champagne!) Everyone looked dapper and dandy (or gorgeous.) Yes, yes. Fun, fun.

Then, 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, I did the fanatical thing and went to the special viewing of Star Wars Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith (TM). Of course, now I am exhausted, but goodness, wasn't that fun! Anakin and Obi-wan dueling! Obi-wan of course kicks butt, and Yoda is as small and backwards as ever. Special effects galore, but this time, a great storyline to back it! Anakin's transformation was very saddening. Poor Padme! Poor Jedi! Poor Republic! But... *sigh* the circle is complete.

Ah, yes. I am currently engrossed in a very engrossing novel(s). The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Co. Very fun, very crazy. And I am lovin' it! Well, that's all folks! Gotta go see Beth's (and Dani's) Accent/Jazz Band concert. Oh, yay! Fun for the whole family!

Yes! It's finally here. Spring. A time of awakening, refreshment and beauty. I know I don't write often, mainly because I don't have time. Also, nobody reads what I write anyway, but I suppose that's my fault. Hmm... Anyway.

Yes, it's a gorgeous time of year, and I am very happy. Today, (Mar. 20), I attended a Youth Leadership Summit with the Just Think Players and had a blast. It has me so motivated!

As some know, I am very interested in diplomacy, language and leadership. I am also an aspiring Buddhist, as a few are aware, so compassion and understanding are VERY high on my list. At least that is what I try for. Heh. Err...I'm gettin' off topic. Anyway.

The youth summit has motivated me to do something I have long wanted to do. I have decided to put on a fundraiser through (hopefully) my Boy Scout Troop. I am going to try to raise money for the Save the Children movement (www.savethechildren.com) and help children in poverty around the world. I hope it'll go through - I've never organized something of this magnitude. Well, all I can do is try my best.

So anyway, that is going to be my spring project. I hope. Hee!
