So... I think this weekend was good... I can't freaking tell...

Thursday-
1. I get 3 of ours songs in their final state from our producer
2. I get a message saying my school newspaper did a story on my band and wants to do pictures
3. I go see Amanda Fucking Palmer, meet her, and hand her a CD of our music
4. Then the steering in my car stops. Like, stops. No steering. Wah.

Since then I've played lots of Left 4 Dead 2, gotten some music work done, and found out that The Schoolyard Heroes are breaking up and their last show is in SEATTLE. OTHERSIDEOFTHECOUNTRY. DAMNIT.

So I can't decide. Let's focus on the good part, with some good ol' shameless self-promotion.

The show last night went really really well, it was wonderful! I had lots of really good friends come, including some from waaaay far away (you know who you are!)

did an incredible job, I'm fortunate beyond belief to work with her.

We got some good ideas of what songs are some crowd favorites, and what to continue working into our sound. We still do what we want, just with some consideration from the "fans" we have so far. ^.^

Also, I had a fantastically productive weekend/week! First off, this weekend I went to a job fair, set up an orientation with Forever 21, which happened on monday!

I have a job! At 9 bucks an hour! Woot!

and I have booked the first show for our band! It's gonna be friday night, and I absolutely can't wait for it. [: In the same subject, we also got booked for a battle of the bands going on in December, which gives us a chance to win $500, 20 hours of studio time, AND a headlining show! We recorded piano yesterday!
3 tracks, on piano, we recorded them, yesterday.
They're DONE.

Sadly enough, our guy had class that night at 6, so we have to wait till Sunday to do the rest. Thankfully we should have a full day on Sunday though, then we can finish all 3 songs we recorded piano for, and the one that doesn't have piano. The vocals shouldn't take long at all, and I'm sure Erin will do fine recording violin. [:

We're on our way to victory! Plus, we learned of some good places to start playing shows from him. I'm looking into that TODAY. I should do that now... Hm.

Sometimes, just when you start thinking that not enough is happening in your life, that's when it happens. Tonight, one of the oldest friends I have, whom I hadn't spoken with in 4 months over a small tiff, responded actively to my request to get a cheeseburger with anyone else who was still awake.

Between about 12 and now, we ate cheeseburgers and drank coffee, and we talked about everything that had happened in our lives the last 4 months, and it was really really good. I'll say something important here, no matter how much both of us have changed, he knows me. He knows what I would and would not do. Our relationship is different, but it's still great.

I'd like to turn some attention to [link] , a poem I wrote a few years ago for his birthday. I'm looking back at it now, and remembering just why I wrote it. I've known him since 3rd grade. It's pretty apparent now that nothing is gonna tear us apart. I'm happy about it.

So on the way home tonight, I was listening to "C.R.E.A.M." by the Wu-tang Clan, and had a realization. See, even though the first line of the song is kinda silly: "Cash rules everything around me: cream! Get your money, dolla dolla bill ya'll" the verses of the song aren't just about having money. The song itself is about them being poor, and the hardship they went through to get where they are today.

This is where it all came in. The difference between rap then and rap now. The difference is between MAKING MONEY and HAVING MONEY. For instance, a line from a popular rap song today.

"New money motherfucker don't you see the big knot?
Don't you see the big chain?
Don't you see the big rims?"
UGH. C'mon rich boy, that's nothing new.

Hai Guise!

Pretty new skin on the journal, amirite?
So I'm in History right now, learning about the rape of Lucretia... Ugh, freakin miserable. I find it really interesting that the makers of Final Fantasy 7 used references from ancient Roman history. Pretty darn cool.

So I went totally crazy with this membership... it's kinda sad.
Fortunately though it payed off. Lots of hits on "Harmony" after it got a good critique, so of course afterward I put lots of others up for critique too.

I put together a really unusual song this weekend. Really impractical, kind of creepy, but I think I like it.

will be helping me work it out and make it sound even better, more appealing to balance out the artsy if you will. We also practiced our set some more this week.

Haven't talk to the producer guy again yet... still waiting.

Gonna start finding some more new albums to put on the RL wall, will update that some time this week. Also, gonna be writing a lot the next few weeks, while I wait to get into the studio with the songs we have done. The writing process never ends!

So, lots and lots of orders of business to discuss.

1.First off being, my mom is way too incredible.
After I gave out my haiku that were rightfully earned by those who commented on my journal (subconscious favoritism?)

decided to buy me 3 months worth of premium membership. This is both good and bad for you all.

Good: I'm gonna be doing lots of features, starting with THIS JOURNAL! I want to do as many as I can before my membership goes out, and drain my 3 months for all their worth.

Bad: I'm gonna be abusing the FNARK out of this membership. Lots of polls. Lots of widgets. Lots of critique asking and giving. So uh, expect lots and lots of posts from me. Be scared.

2. SRS MUZIK BZNS!
So, that guy who I had plans with to record my band's 6 songs? Yeah, his guitar stack blew out. That's not so bad for us, but his band was in the middle of recording and it will now take longer. Thankfully, their deadline is the beginning of October, so by time next month rolls around we should be in the studio! You'll be seeing more song lyrics and a link to our myspace soon!

Let's go in a logical order, and talk about the 2nd part 1st!
2. I have plans for a bunch of different photo shoots, all with models picked out. The problem is, I have free time, but not all at once, so right now it's hard to get it planned. Once I do, the first one will probably be a late halloween shoot, or it's really just a creepy photoshoot in general. It is creepy. For all you creepers it's really just a cool shoot. And then there's a few others. And stuff.

1. So my birthday was this last weekend. And my dad and brother chipped in to get me a new toy! I haven't had any of the new systems since they came out, so they got me a PS3, and she is pretty. Her name is Marionetta. The problem is, as flawless and pretty as Marionetta is, she does not have many friends. Most of my buds have either a Wii or a 360, so I don't have many people to link up with. Any of my good artsy deviant friends have a PS3? Let me know and I'll add ya. ^^

So by 4:30 we are finally ready. I'm supposed to leave PA by 8. I check my camera, 2 halves full of battery (for those of you who have done so much high school math you've forgotten how to do the basics without a calculator, that's 1 full battery.) We find the cemetery, find that oh so strategically placed statue (the wings were already part of the wardrobe I picked out) and begin.

I hand the camera to miss Sara, as we begin to shoot the final stages of the story. "It says battery depleted."

DAAAAAAMNIT.

Oh well, it's all good, I'll do it again next time I'm up in Cornstalk, PA and hopefully get the whole shoot, then I'll decide whether to merge them and complain about weather differences, or cut the first and complain about missing some good pictures.
Yay!

Fantastic weekend overall. Got some good sleep Saturday night. Watched a movie. Was part of an epic 1-sided water fight and had a shoulder to cry on when I finished reading my book. Meatloaf sandwich. Love.

I'm in the computer lab, supposed to be working on my research paper, probably gonna be slaving away this weekend instead. Eh, draft is done, not much more to do right? I found out I have volunteer work I was signed up for on saturday anyway, so I may as well make the rest of the weekend just as productive. *sigh*

I haven't written anything in a month, a MONTH. No poems, no little things that pretend to be poems, no work on my 2 stories at all. I feel really bad, I've even been RPing and that hasn't helped. I really hope I get it back together soon.

There's a project I've wanted to work on for a long time, and I want to start NAO. Music video for the song "Last Night" by Motion City Soundtrack.

I've had the idea in my head for quite a while, I know a lot of friends I want to use for acting parts, I think if I tried right now I could write the timeline, but there's somethind I need.

Does anyone know of any good free video editing programs? I dont have one myself and I'm not sure windows movie maker will work on my compy, we'll see. Anyone has any tips, lemme know.

So, I actually wrote something, and I'm kind of f#$%ing ecstatic about the event, simply because I haven't done it in more than two weeks or so, maybe three. It's a song, it kind of follows the flow of a few of my more recent rhythm-driven pieces, the ones with the darker more mellon collie topics and melodramatic lyrics.

I have a good idea for a photo shoot, but she who will hopefully be my model for said idea is being difficult.
