O.k. it's a tiny bit late but I'm FINALLY watching "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zizou." My nephiew recomended the hell out of it last year at some point when i was bitching that pretty much everything produced in the US last year was pretty much crap.

So I started watching it and he's a pretty sharp kid so in general I respect what he has to say. But I have to say it was a pretty boring movie, vey predictable, campy but too contrived to really be enjoyable.

And then they decided to rescue the bond company stooge.

I have to say it was great.

I REALLY don't like to put up with movies/books/stories where you have to slog through a bunch of boring crap to get to the good part. but the boring part wasn't THAT boring and honestly, it's worth it. very much worth it. This turns into a GREAT movie. Heartwarming without being contrite. Still a little too contrived but that has stopped bothering me.

By the way Bill murray, unlike the rest of the male population is getting cuter. He really wasn't doing so well for... well.. um his entire life, he's just never been a very good looking guy but as a fifty something looking guy he's actually kinda attractive.

Who'da thunk right.

Angelica Huston on the other hand not doing so hot. I mean I was thinking "wow, she's looking really good for her age" and then I found out she's only fifty seven. I'd still totally tap the hell out of that but she really looks like someone in her late sixties/early seventies that's looking really good for her age. For a 57 year old she doesn't look so hot.

It's also got Michael Gambon in it whom most will recomend for his work repriesing the role of Dumbeldore after the death of Richard (OMFG what a good job) Harris. he's turning out to be a favorite of mine. A very versatile actor who does a great job playing a truly creapy bad guy in layer cake.

Great Portuguese covers of a bunch of David Bowie tracks. A pretty decent soundtrack overall.

I'm givin' it a 5 in the netflix queue.

Slow and going lately. I'm having a LOT of trouble with the pic I'm working on. I think the pose was a tiny bit too ambitious for me. I need to find some reference work or pick a slightly different pose maybe and redo it. I think I might actually just give up and be done with it even though it's pretty crappy. Much more like what I used to do rather than what else I'm doing now.

I've started a critter also. Couple of hours into the one that's troubling me and like 20 into the critter and they're both about the same level. DANG it's troubling me.

Literally

So the burn I mentioned previously just continued to get worse and worse. It started getting bad about 4 hours after the strawberry festival (not during, no or even on the way home) and continued to get worse and worse for the next say 36 hours until I had blisters that were leaking all over my aloe covered skin.

in a word.
ouch

yesterday I finally started to peel. Now I can't put lotion on. Tried a couple times. They all feel like I just doused myself with acid. So this morning I couldn't even shower.

I wore a hat.

Now I leave little parts of myself with everyone I know.

I'm gross some times, I know.

We went to the Ventura County Strawberry Festival today and I got burned all to hell.

Trouble is I tan really well and that makes me cocky. I go out without any sunscreen even though I hardly even remember what the sun looks like let alone had it touch my skin in months. I need to build up to a good tan and all I've done is my best lobster impression.

Truth is I haven't had a really good tan in years and years. This of course both makes it easier for me to burn and me more impatient.
