To all those who have continued to watch me even after my long absence, i thank you most sincerely.

There were a number of reasons for my sudden diasppearance - among them a close friend of mine being diagnosed with cancer. It isn't a topic i want to discuss in much detail but since i've pretty much been living with her for the past few months i haven't had much time for myself and my artistic inspiration has been practically non-existant.

The good news is she's on the path to recovery and i've finally got my muse back, so i'm going to try and do my best to start uploading some more art soon and reestablish myself in the DA community. I've missed you guys.

To Yoru-Rose and Crazdude - i'm so sorry about how long your commissions are taking. The summer holidays are coming up in a few weeks, however, which will give me plenty of time to make your commissions the best they can possibly be.

My parents have recently sprung upon me that i am going to have to buy my own car. I'm at a loss as to how i'm supposed to manage to do this when i am only able to work one day a week throughout the year at a job that pays me minimum wage. I'm only able to drive an automatic because of the type of license i have, and a cheap, working "first car" costs between $600-$1000 NZD.

As a means of funding i'm going to begin offering commissions. Previously i brought the subject up but noone really warmed to it, but the quality of my artwork has improved a lot since then.

Argh i'm in such a bad mood.

My 3 year old laptop has lost the ability to handle running photoshop at the same time as other programs. I have spent the last few hours tearing my hair out in despair and frustration as it proceeded to freeze over and over again while i desparately tried to finish my most recent drawing. I don't know what to do. I could use the home computer i suppose, which has a screen over twice the size of my piddly little 1024x768px laptop monitor, but it has a weird yellow tint that i can't get rid of and which would much up anything i tried to paint on there. Plus i'd have to lug all my gear into the study which gets a lot of family foot traffic, so it's probably a no go.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRADES

In the future when i accept trades i would like a full description of what you would like me to draw for you. I hate having to come up with ideas on my own because they always seem so boring, it takes me a long time and i'm never satisfied with the ideas i come up with.
So if you want to trade with me, i'd like to know:

a. The character you want me to draw.
b. A general idea of the pose/action you want the character to be in/doing.
c. What you would like the setting to be.

ALSO, please let me know what kind of trade you would like to do, for example, whether you'd like to do a digital or traditional media drawing, whether you'd like to include a background etc. I'll comply with whatever you'd like to do. That way both parties will be getting an equal piece of art. It's extremely frustrating to work for a very long time and to put great detail into a trade to find that the other person's half has had less effort put into it. I may come off as sounding harsh, but please, i'm at my wits' end and this would help me out a lot in the future.

Down here in NZ as of nine hours ago it is officially 2007.
Where the hell did '06 go? Craziness.

My NYE was fun in a relaly lame, low-key kinda way. I had to hang out with the kids of people coming to my Father's birthday/NYE party. We ended up going in the swimming pool and staying there until 11.30, which was easy to do because we cranked the heat up to 29 degrees C so it was warmer than the air. We ate and drank lots of crap but i didn't touch any alco-ma-hol this year. Ah well.

How very frustrating. The holidays are long over and still there is no art to behold. Well this time i have a good reason. My laptop hard drive decided to crash, and while i was able to save everything in the My Documents folder, i was unable to save Photoshop, my one true love and the program i use to produce work with. I never actually owned Photoshop myself. I was lent the disk by a girl at my school who now refuses to let me borrow it again. Until i can buy my own copy of the program, i won't be able to do any art what-so-ever.

Actually, i can do icons. I've been playing around on paint since the crash and have discovered that pixelling is an extremely fun process. You might have noticed my new icon. I made that during maths class today. Hah.

Ahem.

On Friday afternoon before Shakespeare festival i went into town with my friend Emma. We bought Subway, and Starbucks, and a lighter.

The lighter cost me $2.50 and has "red" written on the side of it. I love my lighter.

Yesterday i burnt some old science tests i had lying around my room. I also burnt a chunk of dried out paint. It smelled awful. Today before work i burnt a picture of James Blunt. Then i burnt a sock. It made a cool pffffffffft noise.

Just now, i went into the bathroom and burnt some toilet paper on the linoleum floor. Now there is a little spot of melted plastic shit in the middle of the floor.





So, in the end, the moral of the story is:

Courtney loves her lighter. When the fluid runs out she will have a funeral for it.

Today was my first day of scuba diving camp. Thanks to the wonderful advice all of you gave me, i was able to get over my flu in time!

It was an awesome experience. Breathing underwater, and being able to stay down there for long amounts of time is just so cool, and completely different from anything i'd ever done before. My only dislike about scuba diving is how heavy the gear is. The weight belt itself is 8kgs, and then there's the huge tank, the BCD - kind of like a lifejacket, but not -_-;, then all the different tubes and meters coming off. It's quite awkward really, but nevertheless, a wonderful experience. And i have 3 more days of it .

Sickness = yuck/shit.

I've been bedridden for the past 2 days. I have no idea in fuck's name what is wrong with me but it's not pleasant. My throat is still sore, but my sinuses appear to have cleared up somewhat, so i'll probably be at school tomorow. Yay. No, i really mean it. Yay. Taking a day off from my school is like cutting off a limb. I swear to god, teachers attack you for not attending class. Plus i hate having to catch up on missed work. AND i missed double art. T_T

It's really awesome when you finally understnd something that seems near impossible to learn. I finally understand how to balance scientific equations.
Eg. 4Fe + 3O2 = 2Fe2O3
Oh yeah baby!

Oh and i taught my friend a song from the program Lost today. I stole one of the crappy guitars from the music room, and quickly tabbed it out for her. She was really chuffed to learn it, and it was cool teaching her. :3



Year 11 maths is way too easy.



Oh and an update on my sickness - my throat doesn't hurt so much, it's now more of an annoying buzzing sensation, but i've got a blocked nose, and it keeps on running.

Today i spent all of school in the maori section of the museum. All of the art students had to go there and make observational sketches of maori artifacts, keeping to a certain theme (i chose weaponary). It was a long day, but i had a lot of fun, and am pleased with the results.

yay i'm back!

despite the fact i pretty much hated the idea of going on a family holiday at first, i actually had an awesome time

first we went down to Taupo, where we pretty much did nothing but go for walks around the lake (which was absolutely beautiful). We did go to visit the Huka Falls, which are magnificent! the water is so clear and blue it's incredible!

on the way to Rotorua, we stopped off at a blown-glass gallery, where i got this necklace --> [link] for $400 o_O it's really beautiful though - worth every cent! it's made of about 7 layers of coloured, volcanic glass, and it was a very lucky find because the couple who make them have recently stopped making jewellery because it's so difficult to make!

Hmm yes well when we got down to Rotorua, the first thing we did was head off the the Agrodome, where my sister and i went on the 'free fall' - it's a skydive simulator, where you lie over a gigantic fan, and you're blown up into the air, and feel as though you're flying! it was so much fun

while in Rotorua, we visited a bunch of thermal lakes and mud pools which were awesome! it's kinda fun to be standing next to a boiling lake that smells of sulpher XD

i've decided to make a little contest for you lot!

Theme
this contest is to see who can design a mate for my fursona Zepher - [link]

all you have to do is draw me a picture of a character that you think would be just perfect for my Zeff.

Guidelines
Zeff isn't a fussy thing, so there are virtually no boundries as to what his mate can be!
- his mate can be either female or male
- his mate can be of any species except human
- his mate may have any markings/colours you choose
- his mate MUST love glowsticks/glowy things (this is the only real 'rule')

Prizes
1st Prize -
the character you design will become Zepher's official mate;

camp was so awesome! i had an amazing time and met some kick ass people - unfortunately the weather was not the best. the first day was unbearably hot, and the 2, 3 and 4th days were all wet and cold. and our tent leaked. ah well.

oh yes. i also managed to rip my right shin open on a piece of stray barbed wire. i now have a [bandaged] 7cm long, 1cm wide gash on my leg, and i had to fight the nurse off so she wouldn't give me stitches. i'd rather have an awesome scar than stitches. on the way home i had to go get a tetnus shot just in case. blah.
