This was intended to be satire.
However, I have offended some people, some of whom seem to have taken it personally, and who have misunderstood my intentions. I'd like to make it very clear that that piece is satire. It is an interpretation, or perhaps more accurately a critique. Do not take it literally, please.

Well, I suppose a bit of an update wouldn't hurt you loyal fans, now would it?

I consider a recent post I made in the Art Scene forum a moderate success. It was called "What is Art?", and the contents were self explanatory. Go read what people had to say there - some were rather cop-outish, in my opinion, but others were very well thought out and appropriate responses. Well worth the loading time.

I recently finished painting on a Conservative lawn sign, left over from the recent Canadian election. Lawrie Hawn, who won in his riding, is now covered by a surrealist piece depicting a tree, a door, some hills, and the sky. I like it, personally, and it's the first painting of done of what some people like to call my "Suess Trees", but they aren't really Suessian, in my mind. All well.

For my art class, I'm currently doing a Very Large (At least four feet high, and a little more then that wide) self portrait of myself. It's got a long time to go, but then again, I haven't really worked on it much yet. I'm rather excited about it - the drawing I'm doing it from is among my top three drawings of people that I have done.

After that will come some work with clay for Kaleidoscope, the Victoria Art's Society's annual fundraiser. The project is to make a unique pot. I don't have any ideas yet, but I think it might involve the human form in some way. Hmm.

Finally, I'm currently looking into apartments. I'm planning on moving out this fall/summer, you see. I'd probably go with a Studio apartment, as nothing is cooler and cosier then one of those. There's one in particular I'd like - a highrise on Jasper Ave. Downtown (It's the chic, central avenue in the city). Rent is 500-600CAN$ a month, which includes all of my utilities. The only household things I'd need to pay for myself are internet and phone, and I'd probably get a cell phone and just buy minutes. I don't use the phone much. I don't watch television, so I don't need that... A high estimate for food is 300$ a month, bus pass is about 68$. Working fulltime at Staples, I could definitely do it. Which rocks.

What this means for all of you is that I'd have a properly lit (There's no place in my house suited for painting after the sun's gone down), well organised space where I could work on my art with little to no interruptions, and a new computer, so I could actually do digital art at sizes larger then 1000 pixels. And there's not a lot you can really do decently in 1000 pixels. I'd also have a good space I could write in. I need good focus, without incidental noise and interruptions, which I'd get there. So I'd be able to finish my play (at least one of the three I have going. :S), and work on that really well, and have it good to go for the Fringe next year!
