Main male lead is sort of a fun place to be, I got a wig and we're gonna have to make it work... it looks weird right now (might help if we darken my eyebrows and add some side-burn action). I'll look a bit goofy and small in full costume, I bet, because I'm skinny and lack shoulders... and thicker arms... and larger hands and feet... you get the idea.

But goodness, I'm tired. And one of our main characters has PINK-EYE. YEESH. She'll stop being infectious by tomorrow, thank goodness.

We're in high spirits. BUT I got to nail down all of my 362 lines by Saturday... I'M GETTING THERE....

I'm gonna go collapse and not read my Jane Eyre chapter homework because I'm tired and need to study my lines.... spark notes ahoy!

I've officially decided this recently.

After months of thinking it over and over and over...

I don't mind if people have a religion- it can make some people better people, it helps some in grieving and desperate, it gives some people community and friendship. I was involved with it for a few years, but...

But it's not for me.

I don't need a god who will either reward or punish me for believing in an old book and accepting every word as fact, even though it was written by man, and that I don't agree with the violence and dogmatic indoctrination... Not to mention, it instantly gives you the idea that at least 2/3 of the entire living world will go to hell, if a whole lot more...

I am an atheist. I am a secular humanist- I'm not evil for not believing in god, logically, I just don't think a god is important or even very likely. I think that humans do have an obligation to help others and be kind to others, we are a species that has to survive in a strange and twisted world, all we have is each other.

I've only told one real-life friend, who is a pagan, and she accepted it, too. I don't know if I should tell my mom; she is quite loosely religious, we never go to church, but she was raised strictly. I'm not sure what she would think. I might wait a long time before telling her.

But I don't plan on telling all of my friends, I know to a lot of them, church is important, and I worry if they knew, they might get upset with me and reject me. I'll wait until later, figure out what they really believe before I even think of telling them I don't believe in god.

If you still like me as a friend, that is wonderful. If you now hate me, that is fine too, but I feel sorry for you. I'm just tired of not telling anyone.

My sudden cold is starting to fade. Our finances are rather settled and we're not in debt for the funeral, thanks to the help of all the sympathy cards I've received.

my ex-boyfriend was trying to be helpful- but at this point, I want to return to normal, not cry more for show. He tries too hard sometimes...

But, there is plenty of good news: One of which is I gotta work on my Man-voice, because I got the main part in the Senior Class Play! It's a male part, and I'm surprised: I was apparently so good they didn't cast one of the few guys who tried out for the role! (Admittedly, only one guy is perhaps a good enough actor for the role, but he had no experience in plays, and the role I have has 300 lines!)

The Drama teachers told me only a bit ahead of time because one: They wanted to see if I would be comfy with playing a man (I said as long as I don't have to kiss a girl, it's fine!), and two: the play does deal a bit with suicide, and they thought it might be too close to home with me. Though it is a bit strange for me, I gave them the go-ahead. Mostly because the play is about the main character realizing how wonderful his life is.

I find it funny, though- I'm more worried on playing a convincing male than anything else. I'm not very masculine-looking. But I am tall, and I have that Scandinavian style of face that is a bit stronger-looking sometimes, not too mention I do not have a squeaky voice, either... We'll see how this goes.

A lot of hugs this week, and making up for lost time. Been tired a lot.

But homecoming is over with- it's been a good year thus far, even though I'm not doing as nicely in my classes as I wish I were. I should be getting them back up again before the end of the marking period. Mostly from missing work and even a bad test or two.

I find it strange my boss is going to be at my Dad's memorial service- but apparently she knew my family quite a while ago.

Even my teachers have been giving me hugs occasionally.

I can't say it doesn't help a bit, though.

I just want this whole ordeal to be over with by now.

It seems things have been going back to normal, even though most of my friends now know my Dad has passed away.

Even a girl who I've had a miff with has said "sorry". A few years ago, she lost her dad right in front of her, and we had an argument- it ended with the words "You don't know what I've been through" being said by her towards me. Well, if that isn't now bad irony, I don't know what it is.

My Father committed suicide over the weekend.

I just learned this today after school.

I took the news with grace, and after a minute, I went to my bedroom, and began to cry in solitude.

I felt numb for the first few moments. It could not have actually happened- my dad wasn't so unstable- he was unstable, I hadn't seen him in years and he's been on a downward spiral, yet removed from me on my ambitious path. It couldn't happen- I think he was only 53.

Then I ponder his death- I wonder how lonely he felt, what he thought of as he went down to the beachfront. Was my still-born brother's death some 19 years ago that heavy on him all of a sudden? And the natural deaths of his relative's lately? What about me? Did he feel sorry that he didn't try hard enough to overcome his alcoholism for me and my mom? Was his mental instability and bout of schizophrenia induced by substance abuse a factor? I hope it was- I hope it was his mental instability and not just his overbearing sadness.

I know I should not feel responsible- I never knew. But I wonder if it would have been different if there was still contact between us. If I had known, even from the distance between us, and the factor of never seeing him over 4 years, would it have helped?

Then I realize- the father I knew was not the same lonely man who decided to take his own life. Is there even comfort in that? The father I knew and loved was a fun-loving redneck hippy with a love for music and photography, a mechanic and a hard-worker. What happened to him?

I don't know.

I might have to take the next day off from school, despite the recent amount of school I missed for my vacation. We don't really plan for a memorial service- my dad was not a church-goer and we don't know how many would attend the funeral aside from family. He actually removed himself from society over the past few years save for some close friends.

Why did he have to do this to me? Didn't he know it would hurt? Even over all the years? It seemed things were returning to normalcy- my life is busier than ever- and better and more inviting. Does it make me selfish to wish this never happened or I never heard of it so I could finish my schoolwork and worry about college and my art, rather than worry about what my Dad went through in the past few years?

It doesn't feel fair. It isn't fair.

My Mom says that something simply broke in my father.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone- not the grieving living or the miserable dead. Suicide is frightening to me- not through religious conviction or any of that nonsense- but that someone would be so saddened that they would take away something so precious, and how it affects everyone who loves them is something that is not fully considered.

Should I seek out solace in the shoulders of my friends? I don't know. I wonder what people will think of ME now. Am I suddenly the girl whose father committed suicide and should be pitied all the time?

I hope to find some sort of inner strength from this... It will be hard, but I'll live. I need to vent.

Why did you join this site?
Well, I remember somewhere at the end of middle school I joined the site after my best friend had discovered it and we'd spend some time looking at popular art and stuff. I think I joined to comment on stuff... and then I started posting art, because I like it. I dunno. I was, what, 13?

What does your username have to do with you? Is it a combination of your favorite things, or a character of yours?
Well, I'd fancied writing sci-fi stories when I was young- admittedly, they were bad when I joined, but I had the basic concepts of my stories down. "Star" is based off a character I had named "Star-Trail", who was, admittedly, quite a Mary-Sue back then... (I should think about rewriting that...) And "Anceylee" was the name of a fictional race/culture I had created. Still a major story-line for me. Anceylee-Star just sounded cool.

What is your current icon of?
It's a piece of art I had originally made for a contest, but sort of got discarded. It's okay until I get something else icon-worthy.

How many watchers do you have and how many people are you currently watching?
Well, I had just cleaned out the people I watch, so I watch 129 people, and 131 people watch me! legasp! That's the first time I've had more people watch me than I've watched people! WOW.

I sold that Zune I've been needing to sell. I will also be selling a camera and some video games hopefully.

Been working on my college applications. I have decided on two particular Art Schools. Both are public, but they are ACTUAL art schools.

One will be very affordable, hard to get in, but also have prestige that could help me get jobs, along with declaring a very open major (also help me get jobs).

The other is a bit more expensive, easier for me to get in, but also is very art business oriented, and amazing campus and apartments.

I do have a couple of personal issues to sort out at the moment with my boyfriend. I won't go into details on this, though.

Being busy, I don't have new digital art at the moment. But I've had some spare time at school to practice my anatomy skills/ lines a bit more, and I have some bits I could post if I get it together. Yay!

And, I'm going to the Happiest Place on Earth in a few weeks! WOO-HOO! I'm so excited!

And, in a bit of a revelation, I'm looking into Buddhism. It just makes a lot of sense to me...

And very soon, it's off to school with me again. Finally a Senior.

Looking back, I've been on DeviantArt about as long as I've been in Highschool. If you got the time, take a look at the unfiltered gallery right at the beginning, compared to now.

I still make some fun projects. Not everything in my gallery even today is completely serious.

But there has been a very definite progress over 3 years. For 3 years, I went without no outside instruction aside from what I could scrounge out of books and high school art classes (which has long been no effort for me to complete in parameters).

I took an intensive course this summer, and that was the first challenging and intriguing course I'd ever taken. Definitely the best.

I'm mostly self-taught. And though I love critique on a singular piece, I had, over the summer, felt overtly humbled and a little ashamed of myself when told online that nothing but my coloring skills had taken effective strides; That my line art and composition had scarcely improved.

Though I could argue otherwise, it's also got to be realized, I'm still 17. I'm no longer 13 or 14, 15 or 16. But I'm still a bit of a kid and as a kid, I'm not quite yet into my full potential.

So bear with me with what I do, because I'll still keep growing when I'm serious about it. Maybe I just need some actual guidance.

This was not supposed to turn in to a calm!rant. Just did.

Anyways, School starts soon. We'll see how much art I can make while not having hours of sitting around left.

He's had cancer for the past two years, and was going strong until last week.

He lost his hair after 4th of July. He still looked good last Christmas.

It was unexpected as much as it was expected. Even I thought he still had a few weeks left in him on Sunday.

I had gotten a call around 8:30 from my mom telling me the doctors said he likely wouldn't make it through the night. I mulled it over and arrived at my Uncle's room in the hospital at about 9:20.

He died at 9:24 PM.

I saw my beloved Uncle pass away, in the presence of his wife, his son, his daughter, his priest, some friends and relatives, his brothers and sisters, cousins, sister-in-law and I, his neice.

His younger grandkids who could make it saw him beforehand but did not want to see him die. He had a daughter and her kids who couldn't make it, even as they were rushing home from Florida. But he did get the chance to call her bye phone, say good-bye, say he loved her, and that he would be resting soon.

I was one of the last people to arrive at the hospital for him.

I can still remember the level of emotion in the room as he died. His breathing had stopped, and instantly everyone was giving their last goodbyes, saying they loved him, and that he wouldn't be in pain anymore, and that he would have a great time in heaven. We were crying and sobbing. Then, carefully, my cousin (who is a nurse), quietly tucked his blankets over him, adjusted his hands and removed his oxygen supply when the we were sure.

I may not be a very religious person, but I can't underestimate the power of what people believe in.

We stayed 'til 10:00 with my Aunt and her daughter. Speaking quietly.

I might sound clinical about this all at the moment, but I did cry heavily over the loss, late last night, remembering how my Uncle was like a grandfather to me, how I saw him every birthday, Christmas, and 4th of July, and how he was a really great guy. His wife, my Aunt, says he never complained about his cancer.

Now we're all a little numb from it.

You don't miss the body of a person. You miss what that person did, and that they'll never be able to do those characteristic things again.

I'll live, but I'll grieve for now.

OH GAWD, THAT MOVIE IS ON MY BRAIN SO HARDCORE LATELY.

I had a dream about it.

And I don't dream about stuff I actually like. (or at least remember them!)

I've rarely had a fan/nerd dream... I remember a Harry Potter one from the 5th grade. Maybe Batman once (I'm not quite sure on that one). And Angel (from Buffy) once chased me around a Disney Restaurant.

But the District 9 dream was definitely the best one in a long while.

That was a buffer to save you from spoilers. Now, to the actual meat.

I first got caught up in the viral marketing after hearing about it at the art camp. I read through most of the sites and watched the videos. So I was pretty determined to see this movie.

And I purely LOVED it. It had it's flaws, but it had great good points, and sort of a silent undertone that I just dug into in parts. (oh, the death of one of the prawns in it was just so painful to watch because of the body language of the prawn- it makes me wibble thinking of it.)

It also managed to be FUNNY at times. The infamous lollipop chuck and the alien wearing a bright pink brassiere were... plainly, funny. And lil CJ was just about the most adorable alien baby I have seen in a good long while... Even if he is an anthropomorphic cockroach/shellfish. Anything that small yet so smart is adorable.

And on a very long drive that I was on, I did actually draw in the car for awhile. Guess what I drew. I drew Prawns. Christopher and his little son, (either know as little CJ or Oliver), and man, I do sorta want to share them, these pencil drawings. BUT I don't want to wreck the paper by scanning it (because my scanner fits only a certain size of paper now w/out bending the paper)

I wrote Fan fiction. (oh god i have not done actual good fan fiction in a long time oh god oh god) And it's not that bad, either. No real Human OCs yet, though a few Alien OCs. Surely more to come.

And, best of all, I'll be seeing it again Monday with my best friend, because she now wants to see it after reading the aforementioned fan fiction. So we can both wibble over it and squeal over it.

And somewhere, way in the far back of my head, I wish for a sequel... gaaaaaaah.

She has to be right.

She's mad at the computer for not being able to install something. The old computer, not my Macbook. It's 5 years old and unmaintained and she expects it to run correctly.

So, she goes to install something and it says it does not have enough memory.

AND SHE THINKS my programs that were previously installed are to blame, that they're taking up space.

And I tell her over and over it's not those little programs faults, because memory is RAM, not hard drive. So she's all pissy as me for that, so I get pissy back for not listening to me.

I tell her RAM/memory is the stuff that running programs work off of, and that when you run out of memory, it just can't execute the program in RAM, it has nothing to do with the hard drive space. And she says it stupid and to just get rid of the stuff on the hard drive and it will MAGICALLY WORK.

HOW COME MOM NEVER EVEN CONSIDERS WHAT I THINK??? Just gets more angry at me for it.

fuck it.

I'll probably regret writing this later, but oh well.

We just need a new comp for mom.

Got some pieces that are portfolio worthy from this. Met some very awesome people. Awesome artists and good teachers.

And the Animation class was soul-sucking but fun at the same time. Nothing beats an All-nighter in the Computer Lab with a bunch of sleep-deprived nerds who are all rather crazy...

Met several people who also have DA pages. There is

who I ended up hanging out with a lot. (though we enjoy insulting eachother at every possible turn, we do it with LUB.)

Today was a local event gig, and as always, I set up booth for Face-Painting, which is how I get a bit of side money for the summer.

Except this year I had to pay $15 for setting up.

But then the event wasn't watching close enough, and another booth that sold some stuff, also set up a Face-painting thing, WHEN THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE, as they were trying to avoid setting up duplicates, these people come in invading on something I've been doing at this event for 4 years and crowd in on my business where they still have alternate income from what they're actually selling!

well, fu-u-u-u-u-uck.

Not only that, but the person in charge told us to move our booth to make way for a Bakery set-up. A few minutes later, a Jam/Jelly booth takes that spot, and the Bakery didn't even need that spot so instead of being front and center, we are far off and not very close to all the hub-bub.

We were very disappointed in how it was run this way.

Not only did I likely lose business to the other booth, being set farther back, having to pay an entry fee and for a set of new brushes, but it also rained, so I only worked for 4 hours instead of 5 or 6.

... I want a refund. I made 56 dollars total. Minus the fee and brushes, I made a profit of around $40.

I once made a full profit of around 70 dollars.

That and it was cold, windy, and began to rain heavily at the end. I had to close up early. And I was PMSing.

Hopefully, this will not happen again, because we expressed our extreme disappointment in how we got shifted about and had a competing business... (I don't think they used true non-toxic water-soluble face-paints like we did, which are the safest and best-quality, nor was their execution of designs very good, apparently.)

I might go sit and watch a movie and read a book now...

Again, it brings forth the question of the abilities of a Machine to be human... just as T:2JD Did (which in my honest opinion, is the best film in the series... Except now it ties with T:S).

I lurve Terminator Films...

And my estranged father sent me a check of $500 dollars... Holy crap. @_@ Uh... that money's going to be saved for something big, I suppose. Perhaps Art Camp or Florida...

This is a very long journal. It's my first major car accident.

The Setup: There's quite a bit of construction going on along a main route in town. A two lane One Way street has been turned into a Two Way. And there's already been 15 accidents since this has started. We're also set into a hill side here, and a lot of the streets go up and down.

So, anyway... I was driving along (in what would usually be the wrong direction), and so I'm traveling 30-35 mph, the speed limit. All of the sudden, a car that should have stopped began to cross the intersections when I had right-of-way. I instantly slammed on the brakes, but we collided regardless. (I did not try to swerve, either. You just don't do it.)

I frickin' screamed during collision. So, after a few seconds of something that felt like absolute quiet (even though I had my loud music going), we both acknowledged the fact we should get out of the road. Luckily, we were the only people on the road at the time, even if she sort of pushed me into the next lane over. So she reversed herself down the block she came out of, which was a one way. After thinking about it, I followed her down, regardless. We took up a couple of the angle parking spots.

I was absolutely shaking by that time. With about four thoughts in my head: One- I've just been in a wreck with my mom's otherwise pristine car (My MOM's car!). Two- Mom was going to FREAK. Three- I have prom tomorrow, and I was supposed to drive! Four- I needed to take pictures of the cars just in case.

So I struggled to get myself out, only because I was shaking so badly. My purse had fallen to the floor, so after I parked the car and turned off the engine, I grabbed it, pulled out my camera and cellphone. I called my mom briefly, and I saw the lady in her car also on her phone. Since I didn't know who to call, mom was first bet. So I tell her I was in a wreck, explained how it happened, and then I hung up so I could assess the damage.

So, I get out of the car, and the lady says she's already called and a policeman was on his way. I took pictures of the damage. There is a full hole in the fender, and it had compressed the wheel well (which made a very nasty grinding noise), the blinker was broken and it also skewed the hood and made the frame on the driver's door askew so when it opens, it make a very loud cracking noise.

Once I'm done taking the pictures, I walk up the woman's car. We proceed to nervously, tensely, introduce ourselves. Her name was Sue.

Sue: "I am so sorry! Are you alright?"

Me: "Yes, I'm fine."

Sue: "Thank goodness..."

Me: "Yeah... *whimper* And I gotta drive to prom tomorrow."

So, easy to say, at least she was very nice and very sorry for it. While we waited, we talked. She said she had stopped briefly, and had checked to the right, where cars usually came from, and just glanced my way, she thought I was turning, and going up that steep hill, she did have to gun it across from a stop. So it was all her fault (which I'm glad of. Considering I'm still 16 and if it were my fault, I'd be in a whole lot more trouble than her.)

We talked a bit about my prom, and she explained she lived right up the hill, and she was so habitual to looking on way, she wasn't thinking. She also owned the dry-cleaner right on the corner of where she hit me. Sue asked about my dress, and as a part of her apology, said after the prom, she would dry-clean my dress for free. I explained I was going to be driving to prom, and that this was the only car we had on the road right now. I also had a date, and he couldn't drive himself, either.

So, soon the policeman arrives, SUV, flashing lights and all. We explain the accident, and Sue takes full responsibility for the accident. Due to the construction and the fact there had been 15 accidents along there (now 16 accidents), he decided not to ticket her as a break. I was even glad for her, she was a very nice woman and was already going to have her insurance pay for the repairs on two cars.

We get our information written down, I make more calls to my mom, and also one to one of my best friends (who will get to see the damage tomorrow as me and a bunch of friends are getting together to get ready for prom) so I can calm down and vent. I was shaken for a full hour. Sue is able to drive home, though she is leaking oil (I luckily wasn't). As I start to pull out, I hear a horrid grinding noise. The wheel well is rubbing against the wheel. So I decide to wait for an Auto company to come by and check the damage and see if it's safe to drive it.

Took a Practice AP Chem Finals Test today: I did my own scoring, got a composite of about 100 (barely a 5), going in cold turkey. Which means on the real thing, I'll likely get a 5 (the highest score you can get). :3

I'm also working most days now after school. I get in 1-2 hours a day, usually. I work for the school in a very fun job I'm quite used to.

I'll be watching my cousin's dog this week, and staying overnight at their house while they're gone. I'll have time to study for Chemistry, and also to play their Wii for three days.

I'm going to Prom soon. I have everything planned out rather well, and it promises to be quite fun this year. :3

My Application for Art Camp is in and they confirmed by mail they had it. So now I'm excited and waiting for them to tell me if I'm in or not, and if I get a scholarship.

has thought of a very sweet comic-based OC tournament, where instead of winning every match, you must LOSE every match.

"Fatigue is a virtual reality program designed to train warriors to withstand mental as well as physical trauma without risk of real bodily injury. In order to test the program, the staff is running a tournament within Fatigue."

Here's the sweet part:

"In the program, people appear without any arms or legs, and instead have things called Floaters, which allow them to mentally move objects within a certain distance (for example, prosthetic limbs, or anything else). Also, there is a catch to the whole tournament. The staff wants to see the effects that the program has on those who are defeated, not those who win, so they will send home those who triumph. Can't even describe how excited I am. Finally, I get paid for something I've been doing for years!

I'm working for the Junior School helping their Drama Club. I've been doing so for the past 2 years independently, but it was volunteer work. Now that I'm old enough to be hired, I have a payroll and once it starts, I will be making around 30 dollars a week. It's not much, but it will help me out a lot with things I want/need to do in the summer.

I'm also in the High School Drama production, too. A very big part, which makes me happy!

And I'm planning to do a summer art program in Minneapolis! My only problem is the cost, but I'll receive college credit for it, and it's actually cheap once that's taken into consideration. :3 Just got to put together my portfolio and apply for a scholarship.

Me and a few friends have hit the point where we want to get out of high school and go to college so bad.

I want to go into art. I'm not the best, not by far, and I want to learn more, and have the chance to learn and spend my time learning. It's frustrating to feel limited and unable to accomplish what you want to accomplish, partially because you don't have the time or the supplies to really go and try anything. I'd love to make large paintings, but I can't afford canvases or good paper. And if I could sell something, that'd be great, but I have no money for frames or matting. I get tired out in school and I don't have enough experience to do something really great. I want to feel accomplished with something longer than a week. I'd like to feel accomplished with something that isn't simple. I want to be learn to draw more accurately, to paint with more precision, to get the chance to get my creative juices flowing.

I hate feeling like I might not be able to go to the art schools I want to go to just because of money. I hate that I feel too under-skilled. I hate that I feel I can't try enough. I don't get pushed enough in art class, my teacher loves all my stuff, but sometimes I wish for true critique rather than praise. I dislike being one of the 5 of 500 in my school that is artistic, and every other person in art class doesn't really want to be there. I don't want to feel I wish my assignments weren't so generic. I dislike feeling too young to do anything, and I dislike when people think I'm too young to do anything. I don't want to feel tired from school every day and unwilling to do anything but eat, sit on my butt, and do homework. And not make some art. I don't have the time to further myself yet.

So. I really want to go to art school. period. I am a bit limited here.

I get to spend a lot of my holiday season with my family, which is nice. Tomorrow we go to my Aunt's house for gift giving in the extended family on my Mom's side. Then we have parties throughout the next week, at least 4 this year.

And I'm going to watch "A Christmas Story" about 3-4 times.

I am Happy Obama Won. I did prefer him to McCain. Even if McCain won, I wouldn't be overreacting. I'd be disappointed, but in the end, He'd probably make a good leader. Just as I know Obama will be.

And I'm more annoyed with the people who think that Obama will doom the country. Reality Flash: Yeah Right. He's only a small part of the government. Important, but Small. There are hundreds of government officials to balance his work out, so things will remain steady.

I'm more pissed how one of my friends said "There goes my family's disposable income."

Her father is a doctor. They live a really good life in an area of low cost of living, probably would even with higher taxes. How SELFISH.

There are people out there who are starving to feed their kids and pay their mortgage while they work over 40 hours a week. Those are the people who need a break. The thing is, I don't think you need tons of disposable income. Me and my Mum live comfortably on probably less than 1/4 the amount of my friend's family income.

So no, the country will not be doomed. Calm DOWN. Everything he wants to change may be compromised, but he does want a change that is GOOD for the country.

And Palin scares me...

Anyways, Minneapolis was great. We went Mall of America for a few hours. Didn't really buy anything, but coming from a small town, it was awesome. :3

And we hit a pheasant while going 80 miles per hour on the freeway. It was sort of sadly funny, because the bird would've made it had it not turned around. It's also the biggest bird I've seen outside a zoo, too. O__O Cracked the corner of our windshield, it did.

I met with 4 colleges, all helpful except Ringling. The Lady there had no real good comments. "go back to basics on your anatomy and colors and composition." And it's like WTF? Those are my strongholds, especially Anatomy.

So anyways. Not much else to say. It's snowing here. Wow.

Happy Halloween! I had quite a great evening myself. We got the fog machine running this year for trick or treating. :3

I finished my Gabe Costume. <3

I'll be trying to get pictures in soon.

I actually wore it for a while answering the door for trick-or-treaters and sat on the porch for a while. I had a few awes from the little kiddies, especially one. XD

I made the mask out of paper mache and acrylics. A little lumpy looking but overall very nice. :]

I go to Minneapolis for a National Portfolio Day tomorrow. Going to 'Effing Worth It. 25 art colleges are there.

A local store is clearing out their macbook line to make way for a newer version, and it's about 100 dollars cheaper than the online price, and they'll throw in a printer for free.

So it's gonna be a macbook black, due to the 250 gig space on it, which mom says I'll need. We should get a wi-fi router sometime soon, too.

I'm a little nervous about it.

I hope the graphics card is as good as I'm hoping it to be, and I think it is. Just suddenly I've been running across horror stories about the macbooks... But I'm gonna use some nice hardware I have waiting around so I can bypass a few of them. :3 (Mainly the grease-susceptible keyboard)

And I'll be going to a portfolio day in about two weeks to have my artwork critiqued by a board, so I know what I'll need for college... :3

I finally found the answer to my problem with making a Gabe Mask. Aluminum Foil! How Could I not realize it before!?

Yeah, so anyways, I'm off of my emo-ness. I don't hate my mother. It's just little moments occasionally. Had a tiny talk with her about my art, and learned some truths, etc...

And she spoils me, too. Temporarily lost my jacket uptown before going the a football game and it was horribly cold and wet out. (I left it at a movie theatre earlier that day, couldn't get it because there was a show at the time. Said they'd get it out after the show.) Called my mom and she just said to use a charge card and get a nice new one.

So no, she's not as horrible as I recently described her. Just strict sometimes, but it also helped to motivate me in school in my younger years.

Got to go to a great football game, too. And a Dance. It's all fun. :3

Back on to Talking about Gabe. Since I had him as an OC in Fading Heavens, I've grown a soft-spot for the music-loving robot. And I'm tempted to create an actual back story for him now.

Yes, Gabe may have his own story. But due to my own particular tastes in characters, it will not be a totally fun, bubbly experience. It might end up being a little dark. About how Gabe gained his self-awareness and maybe spin-off about how he got into the FH mess.

It might be a comic, it might be writing, it might just never happen. Who knows? Would anyone be interested in reading it or seeing it? It might help motivate me into actually working on it if people want to know.

I paid him for it, but we were pretty happy on both ends.

Unicron IS the size of a baby. I pulled off his wing array just because it's awkward. Looks cool, but tends to go all over the place. His hands are awesome since the fingers are all separate and has two point of articulation per finger, except the thumb.

Then me and my cousins played Rockband for a while as our aunts and uncles watched. I rocked with the vocals. :3

I'm busy with school and rehearsals and junk lately. don't expect me on too much for the next two or three weeks.

First Things First, I ran across this game first when I actually got my X-box 360 for Christmas, but it was not too cheap at any location until I recently looked. 30 dollars at Walmart, BUT 20 dollars at Shopko. I was lucky enough to find one at a local store, and so I jumped on it last Sunday.

(Yeah, it took me over 8 months to finally purchase a video game for my x-box 360 *weeps* )

A game that debuted in 2006, it stars the character Wayne (Who is modeled after real life S.Korean actor Lee Byung Hun) that awakes onboard a snow-pirate vessel and has garnered amnesia, remembering only his name and the name of the alien that killed his father, a nasty thing called Green Eye.

The setting is on a frozen planet called E.D.N. II, and has been colonized by humans, but soon afterward, they find that the local inhabitants, a diverse alien species called Akrid, are none too happy with their appearance. Easy to say, they are very ornery and violent. Humans find that the Akrid have incredible energy stored in their bodies called Thermal Energy (T-ENG) that would be the key to human colonization on the planet. So most citizens leave for now, as soldiers use giant machines called Vital Suits (VS) to fight the Akrid.

Wayne was aboard a Vital Suit and was frozen in the wasteland, later to be collected by a very small band of snow-pirates. (the local humans that had not been evacuated from EDN 2)

Now, to the meat of the review.

When I first started the game, I wasn't sure what to expect. The controls were a little annoying for a while, because the scope/ aiming was set to be very slow, making Wayne (the character you play) seem like a snail when it came to targeting. But I changed its acceleration to 5 in the Settings, and that solved the problem very easily.

You get a very decent arsenal of weaponry that you can find throughout the levels, ranging from Shotguns to Rockets to Grenades. In total, you can carry up to 20 grenades and two separate regular weapons. I enjoy the Machine Gun most for pure simplicity of sweeping the scope across enemies and taking them out in only a few seconds without really aiming. Grenades are great for chucking over barriers where enemies can't shoot you.

What I found amazing was the level of diversity in how to take out your enemies. You have the Vital Suits (In varying designs and also with their own souped-up weaponry) where you can just seat yourself in it and go to work. You have regular Weapons built for humans, but Wayne is ingenious enough to know how to detach VS weaponry from the mecha and either transfer it to a nearby one or just take it straight into battle. The levels are filled with things you can destroy and blow up, which can be used to your advantage. An Akrid standing next to an oil barrel. shoot the oil barrel for a big explosion.

Essentially, there are all sorts of combinations you can do, from semi-customizing a VS with different weapons (btw, some VS can actually Transform.) to using your environment to your advantage.

The Levels are big, diverse and often beautiful. Being on a next-gen platform, the graphics are very nice. You have several places to go through in a mission, some vital, some not. But you might find goodies up on that rafter like more ammo for your gun. It also makes it so you can change your strategy each time you go through a mission until something works.

The Akrid, your main baddies, are really just misunderstood. Humans invaded their homes, they're just being defensive... (Save the Whales. lol) Seriously, they come in large varieties of various difficulties. But most of them are BIG. The Trilid are my favorite (Like big, skinny, floating horseshoe crabs...), not because they're easy to kill, but because they act sortta docile, even if they do like to shoot at you like a drill. They trill and will playfully dip their noses in the snow. Sortta cute, really.

Easy to say, the Akrid are pretty decently designed. A bit insect-like and all look very different from eachother. Some are like pillbug rhinos, other like dandelions (that shoot seed bombs in every direction)

You also have rival snow-pirates and corporate baddies that will shoot at you in different levels, some even don their own VS units to take you out. Their AI is actually not too bad. They know to take cover, will shoot around corners, and duck for cover when you throw a grenade (sometimes). You have a wide range of enemies, all of them pretty killable.

Now, on to the good guys. Considering the environment of bitter cold and snow, all the characters are pretty well-placed. I dare you to look up how much it costs brand new.

It's adorable and the speakers work pretty well, even if it's not horribly loud. Works on anything with a standard headphone jack.

It lights up to the rhythm of the song it's plugged into.

And it really, really enjoys Daft Punk. It instantly picks up on the beats. :3

I'm procrastinating on a lot of stuff lately. But I've been busy a LOT.

Going to get my ears pierced tomorrow. Yay. :3

Apparently, she wasn't collected up so easily as I had thought. I had originally though the police got the dog, but apparently, she BROKE her leash just before the policeman arrived. But the policeman found her down the block and was able to get her by rolling the tire of his car over the end of the leash to stop her.

And the dog is only about 8-9 months old by our guesses. We think that despite her bad training, she still has hope at a young age, she's already been around children. And will probably go to a Humane Society.

I feel very sorry for our neighbor's dog. I'd been suspecting some sort of animal neglect there, but yesterday evening I found some definite evidence. The neighbors left the house, as they often do, and left their young German Shepard out in the backyard, tied to a tree.

They left for the night, still aren't back, and they left her outside with no food or water and really minimal shelter. The poor thing barked past midnight and this morning got caught on her leash for a while where she could only move a few feet, even tried to bite through her tether to get free. I felt so bad that I couldn't really help when she got tangled and began trying to escape and whining, but she barks at me whenever I'm nearby and once tried to charged at me.

Neighbors never came home last night probably. (I really hate that these neighbors are not good neighbors, even if we do live in a very decent neighborhood.) So after I woke up this morning, I scoped out the dog's situation, and though she's not a very skinny thing and looks pretty healthy, it's obvious she was not happy in a wet, overgrown yard and only a broken shed and a tarp to sit in that wasn't very safe for her.

I read animal cruelty laws last night when I was thinking of it. It's illegal to leave a dog like that.

I hope they don't get the dog back and she goes to a better home. They didn't train her well and they leave her alone at home a lot. It's not right to do that to a dog that's still practically a puppy. Hopefully she'll learn to behave better and not bark at every stranger. She's still young so I'm hopeful.

Bad Neighbors. They don't deserve a dog if they don't take care of it. Neglect is Cruelty.

Got new clothes and gear. 3 new pairs of awesome shoes. But didn't have enough time to find a good pair of pants...

I found the best darn shirt ever. It has Transformers on it. And it's a girl's shirt. (Most will say "WHA-A-AT?") to recap: a girl's shirt with G1 Transformers on it. Best find I have made in a while. I squealed in joy (they were tapping into an untapped niche.). Look at the JC-Penny's Junior's Section. :3

I got TFA Prowl. He's cool. Jazz and Lockdown are fighting over him a lot (Bad slash joke...) and he's quite easy to pose.

So I'm still alive. Oh, and a lot of classy DVDs. I'm living in nostalgia lately. I've been finding DVDs and VHSes of old movies and Batman: The Animated Series and The Justice League everywhere. This is stuff I watched when I was just a wee little girl. So I've been picking them up. O_O

I picked up art supplies. picked up 4 cool-grey toned markers that were expensive and lovely, but my mom helped picked up the tab. I love her. Will be useful when I can't get onto a computer at school...

All this makes me realize I am such a girly nerd.

I saw "Swing Vote" today. I enjoyed it. the first 2 hours of it were just plain funny, but than in the last half hour, the movie turned serious, and I cried. I mean, like, I would have sobbed a little had the theatre been empty. (There was only an old couple there, but still... Sobbing in public is weird...)

So I liked the movie. Not exactly to be taken completely seriously. Some are saying it doesn't touch politics strongly and so it PHAILS. I don't think that's really the whole point though. I consider it more about realizing the more important things in life over frivolities. I could go into why, but I also don't want to spoil it

So the last part was really touching. Sort of was something I could relate or sympathize with. But I wondered why I cried so much.

Then I realized it was probably egged on by my PMS hormones. Ha-ha! I remember I watched Titanic around a similar time, it blew me away as it never did before.

So anyways, Swing Vote was a good movie, very light comedy that's not over-the-top but some of the campaign antics were really, really funny to me. And then I'm probably gonna go see "The Mummy 3" With my friends sometime this week.
