Okay. First of all I'd like to thank everyone who made suggestions on my last journal. Unfortunately, once financial aid came in, it turned out that tuition was raised and fees left me with $80 for the semester. So instead of paying off the biggest loan, I paid off the second-largest one and the interest on a few others. This leaves me with plenty of money to live on for now.

A lot's been going on this summer. I tried and tried to find a job, found one, declined it because of the horrible working conditions and pay (smoking inside and swearing loudly behind me as I'm on the phone with a customer isn't good work etiquette, Mr. Could've-been-boss), did some temp work for my dad's boss, and was actually hired to do concept art for a t-shirt design. Exciting, yes? Not when your client disappears for extended periods of time and then says they'll be mailing you your check ASAP (it's been over a month). Sigh.

Because of the summer slowdown, I no longer have a job. I'm currently searching for a replacement job but it's going to be hard to make the kind of money I was making working for a lawyer. So commissions are still open.

My biggest problem is that my only way to make extra money is to do commissions (and mow my grandma's lawn every now and then).

Anyway. I'm working for Donna-Lee again this summer. It's a good job with good pay and nice coworkers and I'm really thankful to have a summer job in this economy. Also, I can get mocha frappes down the street during my lunch break. Always a plus.

Caught fire. My floor, too. Some guy down the hall was attempting to cook and started a grease fire. He then tried to put it out with water. My room is absolutely fine but part of the corridor, his suite, and all the suites below his took damage because there was a problem with the sprinkler system. It was four hours before they let people back in. Thankfully I had my three-hour class to go to because standing outside with no jacket was not fun.
