... I've finally cancelled my World of Warcraft subscription.

Yep, after almost five years, I finally decided to quit. Kinda sad, as I've loved Warcraft practically my whole life, I got addicted to Warcraft 3 when I was only nine, so it's pretty much been my game of choice as long as I can remember. XD

But, after paying for WoW for nearly a year and only actually playing it maybe twice in that whole time, I figured it was time to give it up. So, bye bye Azeroth; I still love you, but I've got too much life to live to spend weeks on end grinding my way to the top.


But, sounds like it'll end up being quite a good deal. I think with the $15 a month I'm going to save I'm going to get a subscription to Imagine FX; so I'll trade a game I never play for a magazine full of awesome and educational stuff!

Well, I finally went ahead and bought one!



I demo'd it for a week and quite liked it, so yesterday I got mah little self up to the music store and bought it. It's a 3/4 size cello, but it's still plenty big; and sounds great for a starter cello. It also came with a brand new bow, some rosin, and some extra strings. So I'm pretty much set.

So, yeah... it's awesome. And now I get to increase my geekyness level by like 15 by learning a bunch of WoW music! Muahahaha!

And if I really like it and stick with it, I'll start saving up to get that delightful 5-string electric cello... sooooo pretty. *Drool*

Good luck gaiz!

So, I went and saw the Half Blood Prince today (It irks me when people say, "Harry Potter 6". Augh!), and thought it was actually really good. Far better than I expected. Of course, the movies will never compare to the books; but the acting was much better in this one I thought, and the special effects were flipping amazing. Shinyness overload!

But, yeah, this was one of the best films yet, imo. The fifth one really left me flat, they cut soooo much out of it; but I think in this one they did a good job with selecting the important bits and filling it all in without seeming like they just cut and pasted all the important lines.

The downsides, was some awkwardness in certain scenes. Just the kinda thing that makes you go, "Yeah, real people would *never* say that in that situation...", but overall it was much better than the previous ones. Tom Felton (Draco) did a particularly good job, I thought. He wasn't just a smart-alec this time, but showed really believable fear and sadness. And the gal who played Lavender Brown really stole the show; she was the ditziest thing you ever saw. XD

While the overall movie was really fantastic, there were two points that seriously just left me going, "omg, srsly gaiz?"

The first of which, there's a scene where the Death Eaters pop up randomly and attack Harry and the gang and burn down the Burrow. Now, this was a really excellent scene; showed some fun chasing, another fun wizard battle, and seeing the burrow burn down was really sad. But, despite being awesome, the entire thing was totally unnecessary. The death eaters had a great opportunity to try to kill both Harry and Ginny, but decided that that was obviously pointless and went to go burn down the burrow... like... is taking down their house really gonna aid you in taking over the universe? Srsly?

And the second was at the very end, right after Snape does his dirty little deed, the death eaters just.... leave... I mean srsly, what the crap? Draco spends the entire year fixing the vanishing cabinet, just so a couple death eaters can show up and watch him kill Dumbledore? Isn't that a bit overkill? And then they again leave a perfectly good opportunity to kill some peoples and decide to go blow up Hagrid's cabin instead. (Maybe Bella has some strange hatred for shabby housing). So instead of having one of the coolest battle scenes in the series where the death eaters invade Hogwarts, they decide to just kill Dumblebutt and frolick off in to the forest of fantasyland.

Now, the obvious argument that comes to mind would be, "The movie's already two and a half hours long, there was no time for a battle!". True, but they could have cut a scene to make room for it. Namely the scene with the burning down of the Burrow that didn't affect the story any way, and any action in the Burrow scene would have been way cooler as a battle at Hogwarts (McGonagall can kick some serious ass). Plus, if the battle had been at Hogwarts, that would have added a massively juicy bit of story, as it would show that Voldemort and his chums aren't just kicking back in the bahamas or whatever while the death eaters recruit more people.


But, all in all, I give it two thumbs up. Except for the two scenes that were obviously screwed up by a drunk director, the entire movie was well done. So close to perfect! So close, and yet so far!

So yeah... what did you gaiz think of it? 8D

srsly omgwtfbbq! I'm in love!

Sooo, I got mah compy all built last night, and I left him running copying all my files over. It seemed quite nice, booted up really fast, shiny new 64-bitness, and all the hardware seemed to be functioning.

But oh... my gosh... I just now installed photoshop; and this thing's a freaking beast. I'm not talking about a beast like some kind of vicious dire bear; we're talking the kind of beast that eats entire planets and stars and spits them back out as supernovas of awesome! Fr srs, I opened up photoshop, made a 5000 x 5000 canvas, 600 dpi, grabbed my most complicated brush, upped it up to the max size (2500 pixels wide), and it had no lag. Quite a difference from an 800 x 600 72 dpi document lagging on a 3 pixel tapered round brush. xD

Can't wait to try a couple o' games on the highest settings. Muahaha!

Also, building computers if freaking fun. xD

Maybe I should start the undoubted fifty bajillion hours it'll take to patch WoW now. xD

I'm gonna go play with photoshop and giggle and bounce and do the creepy things that I do when I'm excited. xD

EDIT: Well, it's all done and decided. I got some extra money and went ahead and upgraded a few of the parts, added a few things, and ordered it. This thing's gonna be a beast; goodbye laggy high-res images with too many layers!! Muahahaha! Should ship by monday at the latest, and get here between wednesday and friday! Okay, so, I'm in a bit of a pickle here, guys; and if anyone could help me out I'd be really appreciate it.

Basically, my computer is falling apart; it's slow and clunky and half the things I try to put on it don't work, so it's time for a new one. Now, my brother swears that you can't beat buying all your parts from newegg and sticking it all together yourself; he says you'll get better prices for higher quality items. But I asked my dad about it, and he says that putting it together yourself can lead to tons of incompatibility issues, and you're probably not going to save that much money, and it's better to just buy an out-of-the-box computer with similar specs.

So, if any of ya are tech savvy, mind helping me make the wisest choice? I sorta agree with my bro; but I also know that he's actually had quite a few issues with his compy. I'm not really looking for some supercomputer top-of-the-line gaming machine that could power a small city, I just want something that can work with photoshop really high-res with no lag, and recent games (not necessarily at the top graphics settings) with little to no lag.

So, yeah. I just got back from the orthodontist; and half of my tongue is all tingly and feels swollen and weird. My surgery went well, I didn't feel a thing; they just sliced off a bit of gum and hooked up the dealie-whopper to my tooth. Easy as pie. Though I don't know what I'll be eating for lunch, as half of my face seems to be slightly handicapped at the moment. xD

But apart from that, things have been fairly uneventful recently. I've gathered (or, rather, had my brother gather) a list of parts I'll need for a new computer; so hopefully I should be able to like.... do stuff... without it taking two million years. So that should be awesome; I just need a bit more dough to get it, and I'm 99% sure I've got a way to get it, so. Woot!

And on the subject of money, my quest for a job has begun. I've made a list of all the possible places I might enjoy working and am gonna head out soon and apply for them.

Also, I'm gonna get cracking on the next Andart tutorial, which should be fun; so as soon as I get a chance to film it I might learn you guys some artsy fartsy techniquesies.

Ah, journals; I always think of so many important and relevant things to put in you.... too bad I can't remember half of them.

Anywaaays, just a minor update on the status of Andantoniusman, 'cause you all totally care, rite?


First off, wanted to let y'all know that I'm going to be away over the weekend. Mah bro and sis just bought a house and we're going to celebrate!.... and to bring them their cats. Hooray! So, hope ya have fun, but not too much without me, and I'll be back late sunday, which sucks 'cause it's like a four hour drive both ways; 8 hours in 2 days... ick. Oh well, maybe we'll see Star Trek again while we're there (Which was freaking awesome btw, if you haven't seen it, go see it... now.)

Then in artsy news I've been practicing my anatomy skills with this awesome series, The Structure of Man, by Riven Phoenix. It's really great so far; very in-depth and he gives awesome, easy to remember formulas for all the different shapes and such. I've been really quite impressed with it. You can check it out here if you're interested, I would definitely recommend it; and I'm not even halfway through. I also ordered a lead holder on monday, and it arrived today; it's essentially a mechanical pencil, but it uses really big lead. So it's kind of like a normal pencil without the wood. I haven't been incredibly impressed with it; but it also came with 2h lead, so I might just not be used to it; I like my lines dark and smooth, like my women. I also have way too many art projects and spend way too little time on them; I need to make myself a daily schedule, no more farting around for hours just browsing the internet.

And, in personal news, I'm going in for surgery on June 9th. It's pretty dire; they have to cut my face open and attach a merciless device inside to pull out a dreadfully ingrown bone. And by that I mean my back molar came in at a weird angle; so they have to slice off a thin layer of gum to uncover it and put some kind of contraption on to pull and straighten it out. I doubt it'll be that bad, it just kind of sucks because I thought I was nearly done with my braces, and here Mr. Molar comes and decides he wants to be a smart ass and come in crooked. Thanks a lot, skull structure. D8<

I also need to get my wisdom teeth pulled soon, which will suck... ick. D8

But, yeah... that's about all I've got. Oh! I'm also gonna be working on some DnD maps; as my fiendish partner, =pargile, is finished with his segment and now I get to design maps and be DM! Yay! *Runs off to read like 500 pages of rules n' stuff*

Yeah, it was just an april fools prank. My grandma is, in fact, not dead. We don't even live in the same state.

Though I do feel I owe some kind of apology; cause it was a lot funnier in my mind than it actually played out to be. Guess I just kinda got caught up in the spirit of the moment. I honestly didn't even think about how morbid it all sounded until this morning; kind of an idiotic joke to play. So, sorry to anyone I may have frightened or offended.

But I must also say... I was really touched by how much care and support I got over it; it's reminded me just how fortunate I am to have such good friends. So, thank you, everyone, for being so supportive and caring. Because if it had been a real issue, I'm sure I would have needed it. *Hugs you all*

I don't know how this could have happened..... why, why, why?

So yesterday... me and my grandma went out... and I wanted to stop at michaels... but there was like no parking... so my grandma wanted to wait in the car while I went in and got some new pencils... but it took me a really long time... it was really hot out yesterday, and I was so stupid and took my keys in with me...

When I got back... my grandma had died of heat stroke in the car.... and it was MY fault! I could have left my keys and the AC on, but I was so stupid and not thinking!!! WHY DO THESE THINGS HAPPEN!!?!?

I know I haven't really talked about her before... but we had a really good relationship... I just don't know... I feel empty, I disgust myself... I'm a murderer... I KILLED someone with my stupidity! And someone I was very close to...

I... don't know if I can go on like this... it's such a horrible feeling... I despise myself... what a useless bag of shit I am....

I very much appreciate the concern of those who informed me of this dreadful virus, but it's obviously a hoax.

Reason number one: "If someone by the name of Alfred Hundana (dragon_heart620) wants to add you to their buddy list, don't accept it"
You do not accept friend invitations on deviantart. To make someone a friend, you simply add them to your deviantwatch. They have no control over it, no, "accepting" is involved.
Number two: "Please tell everyone on your lists"
Odds are, if someone says this to you, whatever they want you to send is a bunch of baloney. End of story.
Number Three: "This virus is a hard-drive killer."
... oh the fail of this statement... Let me be quite clear here, for those of you who may not be familiar with the working of a computer: You can NOT get a virus unless something is downloaded and installed on your computer, ever. Now, you might be unaware something's being downloaded, but you can not get a virus unless something is placed on to your hard drive. And having someone added to a list of text labeled, "friends" on some website does not cause your computer to download things without your permission.
Number Four: "because if someone on your list addes them, you may get the virus too."
This part makes about as much sense as the word, "addes" does. Just because you're best friends with someone on dA does not mean your computers are magically linked together. You could be in the same room with your best friend, your computers could be side by side, and you could be making out; but if your best friend's computer gets a virus, it will not affect yours.
Number five: "We need to find out who is using this account."
Uh... no? If this was actually happening, it doesn't matter if it's some 12 year old nerd in his grandmom's basement or if it was adolph hitler... dA would just ban the account. It doesn't matter in the slightest who's using it.

Okay, so's, I haven't written a journal in like forever, so it's time for a status report! *Puts on captain hat*

So, I've been on a crazy artistic rampage recently, and it's been fun as heck. I've got a lot of projects on my plate right now: The Zerg series, the free commissions I promised like forever ago, one of the most complex pieces I've ever done in my life, 5 example pieces for my soon-to-be-updated commission information, a character illustration of Tobias, a kiriban, two Andart tutorials, I want to do some better journal CSS, and I want to enter the WoW Comic Contest. xD

So, yeah, it's a huge load, but I've been painting pretty consistently every single day and my motivation is high, so it shouldn't take me too long (*Snort* yea rite).

Though I did kinda get my motivation stabbed in the back yesterday. I was working on that uber-complex piece, and I painted for like 3 hours and things were looking just dandy, so I shrunk it down to low-resolution to save a screenshot to post a WiP online, and continued on painting.... about ten minutes later, I realized I had not set it back to high-resolution (and we're talking like 5,000 pixels in width here), and I like totally flipped out. So, after repeatedly going back as far as my history window would go, I had to select the snapshot photoshop makes when you open a file... that was the only way to get it high-res again, so I lost allll that painting. D8

But, maybe making retarded mistakes like that now will help me prevent them in the future. xD

Well, not much is really going on, other than I'm finally getting in to the swing of things and working on my art pretty regularly now. Aaaand I totally had something I wanted to tell you guys, but I have now totally forgot. So, moving on!!

On the subject of art, I've decided what the next Andart video tutorial will be, and it will be released after my merfolk tutorial, which I hope to finish this week, I've just got a few more things to illustrate and then it'll be done. I've also been experimenting with a lot of new styles lately, and have developed one that I really, really enjoy. I call it fake lineless, and it's where you essentially use lineart, but cleverly disguise it in the finished piece. So you get the ease of painting that lineart gives, with the awesome look that lineless gives! It's a win win situation! Hooray!

I might also do a tutorial on that, but I think the two I've got on my plate right now is enough, plus those free commissions I still have to do. But I'll get around to it all eventually.

I've also decided that it's time for me to hit anatomy study really hard; I'm getting pretty hefty with it, but it can still be problematic for me at times, so the fact that I have to focus so much on the technical side of my work kinda detracts from the creative side.

And in personal news, I got my driver's license last Friday; so watch your butt, cause I'll probably be a safe distance away from it so that in the unlikely event that you suddenly press the brake pedal in your motor vehicle and come to a sudden and unexpected stop right in front of me I will not crash in to you.

Aaaaaaaaaaand I'm gonna go make pancakes. Bai!

So like, life is pretty epic right now. Gonna be getting my driver's license next week, and uhm... there's a delicious cherry cream pie in my fridge that will soon be devoured, omnomnom. And I thought I had like way more news than this, but I totally can't think of any right now.

So, in artistic-like-dumb-crap news, I've got a few awesome projects I'm working on that should be posted very soon. The main one at the moment is another Andart tutorial; it's not a video tutorial, but it'll still be good, I promise. You can see a little teaser for it here. There are some subtle clues as to what the tutorial will be about; and if anyone can guess it on their first and only try (as in a serious guess, not just spouting out random subjects), you can win a free character illustration. People on NDA who already know what it is are, naturally, not eligible, so don't spoil the fun for everyone else. >:U

Then after I finish with that, I'll get back to those free commissions I owe people from like four months ago; but I shall finish them quickly and you shall have to wait no longer.

And in totally not-dA-related news, I'm planning on getting an Electric Cello in the near future; they're not quite as pretty sounding as a real cello, but the ability to make different sounds with the natural vibrato and volume of the bow makes them incredibly useful for doing an entire song on one instrument. I love my keyboard to death, but you just can't get good string sounds with it.

So, as you probably haven't noticed, I've been very inactive recently. But, fortunately, I am still alive and breathing; I've just been incredibly lazy over the holidays. I don't think I've done one productive thing for about a week now, and I'm thinking that's bad. BUT now that I'm noticing just how useless I've been recently, I'm going to kick my own butt off its lazy self (Limber, eh?) and get to work. So, with all this stored up energy, hopefully I will be able to release a new piece by mid-March!

Christmas went really well, too, had a good time with mah family, ate lots of food, and opened lots of gifts. 'Twas quite enjoyable. Then yesterday was my B-day, and we went out to Red Lobster and I got snow crab legs, ooooh the deliciousness. *Foodgasm*

Got lots of nice gifts for Christmas and B-day; but I'd say the top five are an iPod touch, Spore, a Rubik's Cube (Those things are so much fun to solve!), a top hat, and some kick-awesome itty-bitty paint brushes that will be awesome for detail work! 8D

Well, as you can see, I finally got a subscription. Or, rather, a subscription finally got me. Earlier today I was talking with =Haikera-Baiketsu about the new user-page layouts, and how I wished I had a subscription so I could test them out. So, completely out of the blue, she went and bought me a 3 month subscription to dA, because she's like the most amazing person evaaar! So, I promptly set up my page, made a useless poll, and now I present my new journal CSS! I'm not too great at coding, so it's mostly just a variation of templates I've found (Mostly BlackNBlue CSS). But I'm slowly figuring it out, and I really like the look of it so far. I think, eventually, I'll paint a background image of some kind to put up there at the top to spruce it up a bit. But, for now, the minimalist look will suffice. If you have any ideas for stuff too add to it, feel free to suggest it. I imagine I'll be playing with it quite a bit.

In other news, Christmas has pounced upon me like a starving, crazed lion chasing a retarded weasel. Fortunately, I have all but one gift bought, so I shouldn't have to deal with too much of the Christmas rush. So, hope y'all enjoy your holidays as much as I do!

Today, as I turned on my Cintiq, I looked over into the corner and saw a hair and a red speck there. So, a reached over and brushed it off, the hair came off, but the speck didn't. So I worked at it for a few seconds, and then noticed it was behind the glass... yes, that's right, my Cintiq has a dead pixel. >_< However ridiculous that may be, seeing as it's almost brand new, I don't think I'm going to be sending it in. One out of one million nine-hundred and twenty thousand isn't that bad, and it's in the top right corner, pretty inconspicuous. But I dunno, I'll ask someone who knows more about electronics if it can affect any of the other pixels.

Other than that, nothing much exciting going on here, I'm going to be opening up commissions soon, so that'll be fun. Still deciding on what tutorial I want to do, so if anyone has an idea let me know.

Don't know them well enough to know for sure, but I'd guess C would be very bouncy and talkative and Lhune would sit there thinking about how she's going to change her character's design next.

Not too much happening here and Andantonius HQ (Cause I have an HQ.... no, really), just the usual random doodling, and I've started work on some original characters, which I hope to put into a halfway decent piece and actually upload here soon. I've only got one sketched out so far, but there's plenty more whirling in the vortex of chaos and destruction that is my brain, which shall hopefully make their way into the mortal realm soon.

Still loving on my Cintiq, it's pretty much the best thing since sliced cheese (Which is saying a lot), I'm now starting to consider my Cintiq my first girlfriend. We spend loads of time together and really enjoy each other's company, and it's amazing how responsive and understanding she is. I'm sure we'll have a long and happy relationship together.

I saw The Dark Knight the other day, and it was really, really good. Surprisingly good, actually. It had a pretty awesome story, and Heath Ledger did an absolutely amazing job playing the Joker, his character was so well-done, I loved every minute of it (Well, the minutes I wasn't freaking out in my seat, wondering what on earth he was about to do next, anyways). And I'll probably be doing some kind of batman related piece in the near future now, because I'm awesome like that.

And finally, I'm planning on doing a new tutorial in the near future, because I've improved quite a bit since my older ones, which I haven't posted here. So, if anyone has any ideas for something they'd like to know how I do, feel free to comment. Otherwise, I'll pick something myself.

Annnyyways, I broke 2k pageviews the other day, and completely missed it so... no prizes for joo! But yeah, it's kinda neat.

Really need to finish more of my images, especially the prizes that I owe from about 3 months ago. *Procrastination* I'll get to them... eventually!

Still luvin my Cintiq, I really want to get into speedpainting, but tutorials for it are hard to come by, and I don't really have the brushes for it. Hrmm... Maybe I should just try it out and see what happens, not like I can lose much time on a speedpainting.

But, I've decided to stay and solved the problem at the same time. I simply deleted my dA bookmark, and replaced it with my own personal dA page. Now I don't have to see all the horrid artwork that makes the front page cause of boobs, all the idiotic comments and arguments from people with no art in their gallery, and I can still hop on, post things, check messages and friend's deviations.

So.... woot.


On a lighter note: I absolutely love my Cintiq. I never used to be able to sketch on my computer before now (Hand-eye-coordination + hand on tablet + eyes on screen + human anatomy = vomit) but now I can! It's not quite as good as pencil sketching; but it's more spontaneous... because I have this weird fixation with not wasting paper... *Shrug*. But for coloring it's a dream - a dream in flat-screened, 21 inch beauty - It's so much easier to do base colors and shading. The added precision of seeing where you're drawing + the Intuos 3 Airbrush I got really makes things easier.

The airbrush itself helps a ton, too. It has a wheel on top that you can set to certain features (Similar to pen pressure); so for base colors I set the wheel to size and Bam! all the little nooks and crannies are easily filled just by scrolling the wheel. And for shading, I just set flow to the wheel and I can get blocky, basic shading, or shift the wheel to get low-opacity, very smooth shading. It just quickens the process immensely.

I'm also kinda considering posting a video of it... but I'd want to know if anyone would watch it before I did. XD So, yeah...

All I seem to be able to do now is play WoW in my free time. >< I have 2 prizes to finish, one isn't even started, and I can't seem to work up the motivation to do them. It's like, I wake up, "Alright, I'm gonna do something constructive today!"... then when I finish with school I'm like, "Ugh... I need to do something brainless."

Then on weekends, I get the idea of how much I could progress if I play all day, so I don't even get work done over the weekend.

Well, I seem to only update my journal like 3 times a year; but whatever. It would seem the Christmas holidays are uponst us once again, and I put a large selection of art supply on my list. The problem is, I can never decide what to draw. That might change as a few ideas have been popping into my head but I'm waiting till Christmas to draw any of them; in the meantime I'll be practicing my anatomy skillz.

Also, I got some Prismacolor Col-erase pencils, so now I can sketch in style!!!... Err.. in color, I mean.

Now, on to buisness. Since it's summer and i've got plenty of free time, i'm doing a special offer, once a week I will do one free commision (I don't do paid commisions, however. So at the moment this is it). There are a few minor details and rules about the free commisions that I won't get into, most of which are just a few pleasantries and reasonable requirements.
So, if you want a free commision, all you have to do is note / e-mail me saying you would like a free commision, and a general idea of what you want, nothing detailed. After which I will select whichever I recieved first and reply to their note / e-mail saying they won the free commision, and if their commision falls under the few rules, their commision will be accepted. If their commision does not fall under the rules, the second runner up will be notified that they won the commision.
If I do not respond to your note, it's because you haven't won the free commision, I'll try to respond to as many as I can, but I'm not sure how many i'll get so.... no promises.
