I've updated my Web Sharpener Script for Photoshop to version 0.8. You will need Photoshop CS2 or higher to run it.

New features ...
*) Improved downscaling algorithm that uses more than 2 steps now and considers the image size. If you liked the previous algorith, you can select this option as well.
*) Better edge masking to prevent halos more efficiently.
*) Some bug fixes.

I was often asked to make a tutorial about manual blending of exposures in Photoshop without the use of HDR (which I never use anyway). In the process of the relaunch of my new website, I posted and article and a video-tutorial there descriping my process. Unfortuntely the article is written in German only, but the video is quite helpful as well and just contains an audio track without any odd German talking :)

There's an action I used which is one of the luminosity masks of Tony Kuyper, a fellow photographer from the US. Go there and ge them - they are only $10 and very helpful in many ways. It took Google a while until they managed to get Google+ going for Google Apps users like me. I always followed the development and prefer it much more to Facebook now, as they appreciate the quality of presentation that artists and photographers are looking for. Their gallery is wonderful.

For those of you that use my web sharpening/downscaling script for Photoshop or for those of you who are not happy with the quality of their web images as far as sharpening is concerned, I've updated the script.

It's a minor update that adds a slider to adjust the pre-sharpening strength. The layers created are split up in a "Darken" and "Lighten" layer to provide individual adjustment options.

Feel free to download and use it. The ZIP file contains the English, Norwegian and the German version of the script as well as the documentation in each language.

My friend Stephan Zimmermann created a gallery app for the iPad showing 75 of my best images from the past years. The pictures are spiced up with interactive graphics effects and ambient sounds to enhance the experience for the viewer. The images were especially optimized for the iPad.

The bags are packed, the lenses are cleaned. Tomorrow morning I'm going to head off to the Dolomites for a week of hiking and photography. Two fellow Austrian photographers will join me and we will backpack from East to West.

Some time back now I started to add detailed technical descriptions to my images. It's nice for me to check them out when I go back to my images and some of you find them helpful as well.
As this started to become a lot of work to write, some years back my friend Erich Jarz http://hundsmiachn.deviantart.com wrote a little tool for me to speed up this process. Since then I use it all the time and it saves me a lot of work.

I've stumbled over the images of Tomas Kaspar some time ago and I think it was here at deviantArt. I was instantly fascinated by the high level of quality and uniqueness of his work. Once I knew his name, I've seen images of him all over the web.

I'm back from the boardgame fair for a while now and had to update my previous journal just to avoid misunderstandings. It was a blast again and I enjoyed every single day there. A lot of new games were presented and I was happy to see a lot of familiar faces again.

Finally I ended up buying 17 new games (less than last year). But as my flat mate was with me this year and he also got about the same amount of games, we have some exciting gaming nights coming up this fall and winter.

I still can't believe how fast the pageviews increased after I've posted the journal. Now I know how to get high pageviews - it will be expensive though ... :)

Erich was so kind to fix some bugs and change some things about the program. If you've uploaded it before, you should get the newer version and overwrite just the EXE-file. Take care not to overwrite the XML- or the Template-file.
