Thought I'd hit you up with a sit rep on whats been going on back here.

So recently whats been happening is that I've graduated... YaY!. Go Me !. Was like almost 2 weeks ago now as it was the 1st of July but I never updated here with it. The ceremony dragged on a bit and the weather wasn't that good but I got my diploma and went out for a drink with some of my fellow graduates afterwards. Ended up in an Australian themed bar called Walkabout in Glasgow. They have Kangaroo burgers. Thats all I'm going to say about it as the place is awesome.

Since then I haven't really been up to much. I've applied for a job working in Borders bookshop, just to get myself some cash money really, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

I've been mostly working on some 3D projects to put into my portfolio during my spare time. I'm working on a Billiard Hall scene, which is coming along nicely as well as sitting right now trying to render out an updated Bar scene which I worked on for a class in university.

So look for lots of updates with pictures of the scenes coming up on my profile soon.

Thats me just got back from a nice week away down south, staying in a *caravan park (*read trailer park for North America) in a small seaside town called Whitley Bay just outside Newcastle, England.

Went down there with my folks, my bro and Hazel aka =PrincessNut from here. She's put up a lot of pictures of the holiday. We got some lovely sunshine for our trip and got a lot of shopping in at the Metro Center.

The Metro Center is HUGE... like it used to be the biggest shopping mall in Europe. It even, up until recently as its being renovated now, had a theme park with a roller-coaster inside it. Me and Hazo must have walked around it like 3 times during our day trip there.

We all played mini-golf down on the sea front one day as well... Hazo almost decapitated my Dad with a stray shot that would have got him right on the temple had he not ducked in time.

Glad to be home though.

Got home and found my University results laying on the doormat. I got a Second Class Lower Division Honors degree (thats a 2-2 in simple terms). I'm pleased I managed to graduate but I think I probably could have done a little better and got a better average.

Still it means that I get to graduate on the 1st of July (Canada Day!).

Just watching the TV... watching my beloved Holland team (I'm supporting them because Scotland didn't make it to Euro 2008) getting completely stuffed by the Russians... now 3-1 with like no time left in extra-time/over-time... Totally Gutted. I'm sitting here in my bright orange Holland top with a really sad face.

For some reason though DA won't let me change my mood though... could be because I've upgraded to Firefox 3.

Hey folks,

Just thought I'd post up a little journal entry here to tell you all something awesome. My 3D animation work I did with the snooker table in it will be on show on June 9th in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in the center of Glasgow. They are holding the Paisley University End of Year Show there that day so I'll be going a long to see my work there and a bunch of other peoples from my year.

I'm really looking forward to it as I've been to one before back when I was just about to go to university. They had some huge screens there and stuff with the work on show so it was pretty neat. We all get a huge poster too above a computer with our work on it... How awesome is that ?.

Can you tell I'm excited lol.

As an aside here... I went Ten-Pin Bowling tonight, got about a dozen strikes, 3 in a row at one point !... I'll be paying for it in the morning though as my back is starting to seize up already. Good times though.

Hey Folks,

As part of my University course. One class we have to do is CGI Film-making. To pass this class what you have to do is create your own 3D animation on a subject of your choice.

What I've done is taken the idea of a game of chess being like a war between two rival factions. Good vs Evil, Light vs Dark. Of course it would be pretty boring just watching a game of chess in 3D. So what I'm aiming to do is make it a bit comical. For example I've given one of the pawns a baseball bat which he used to knock the round head off of one of the opposing pawns.

I'm going to be doing this in Maya as I think I'm more proficient in that than the package the University is using, Lightwave. (Eugh &gt)

I've already completed the board already and now its onto the peices.

I've already modeled the darts, although they could use a little tweaking, and I'm going to start on the dartboard shortly. Just have to measure it up to get the dimetions for it and then I can give it a go in 3D.

Hopefully I can make a nice scene out of it in the end.

I used to do most of my renders in just plain bog standard software renderings... but I've started to get the hang of Mental Ray now... worked out some settings that seem to work really well and I've even worked out how to get rid of that nasty blur that Maya puts on the textures I've been using.

Recently I've been watching some tutorial videos for Alias Maya 7 on how to create realistic looking textures.

Up untill now I've been more or less relying on creating textures using photoshop, however when you render them out they don't have the same look as I would have liked. The dice in my Poker Night scene for example is just a transparent red lambert texture... would have been nice to make it look a bit more like clear see through plastic rather than just transparent.

So I've been working through these tutorials and I think I'm getting somewhere with it. I created a really nice looking steel texture today which I'm pretty proud off so hopefully by the time I'm finished I'll have some cracking textures saved for future work.

I got my scanner fixed, finally found the driver disk and it works again now... so this means I can now start to scan in all my art again and paint it up in photoshop like before. So look for some new stuff comming in the near future.

Well after the marathon session of uploading my art work last night I finally got my pen tablet back into this new computer.

This should make things a little easier cos trying to draw with a mouse, it's absolute hell.

Just gotta figure out whats wrong with my scanner now and I'll be good to go !.

I'm on my old comp today as most of my art is housed on here so for the next wee while I'll be uploading all my old art that I think people might like to see.

I'm starting with the oldest stuff and working forward and there about 17-18 files I wanna add in.

So keep your eyes peeled for the new old stuff (if that makes any sense) hehe.
