With this other guy, I'm kinda confused. Maybe I'm just being a nosy prick, and since it doesn't really involve anything heinous with copyrights, it's not really a big deal, but I feel like somebody should at least say something. And let me be clear: this guy's not breaking any DA rules in any way.

This artist is a damn good photographer, and seems to enjoy grunge/urban stuff. He apparently likes graffiti, as he's 'made' three amazingly large murals somewhere nearby, on a rough wall. The problem is that the murals are obviously fake. Anyone with a few hours of Photoshop experience can point that out. Again, not an issue... stencil/graf ideas superimposed on walls are widely accepted (I've made a few myself). What bothers me is that the guy is saying that he spent days working on the murals, fighting the rain (explaining the blur around the hair, which should set off some bells straightaway), and he's so proud of himself for having completed these murals so diligently... when he more than likely spent an hour or two sitting in a comfortable chair in front of his computer working on them.

Now what would you do if you were a graffiti artist or street artist of any sorts, took pride in the amount of work/dedication/time/balls that went into a piece, and a man who's obviously faked his prized murals is saying things like:

"The biggest stencil that I've ever made... I'm sooo proud of it."
"6 days cutting the Stencil
another 3 to paint. And day 2, it rainned a bit... So the paint its a little blurry at the hair."

Or had a few dozen casual conversations with his fans in his comment section like this:
"you did bloody good job, I'm shocked! This graffiti is amaizn'!!!"
"Wow, l'm really really glad that you liked it, So.. I really cant express my gratitude!"
"You fully deserve it!"

"i didnt know about ur talent on brushing. damn it looks excellent!"
"I'm not old graffiting, but Its pretty much nice to learn somehting new... If you like, we could do a piece one day? what about?"




I'm sorry, maybe I'm being a little pissy, but it seems to me that if a person is going to go through all the trouble of making a doctored photo of a mural they 'made', going so far as to get a second shot from a different angle, that they should take credit for their image editing / graphics design skills, and not bullshit some incredible backstory about how hard it was for them, and steal the thunder from people who really did work hard at it?

How would YOU handle the situation?

But for the second time in almost five years, I submitted a tiny piece of writing. Nothing fiction, nothing complete, and nothing really substantial, but just something. Despite my lack of posting, I have been writing plenty of fiction in my free time, and eventually, I will post some of it. The problem lies with me getting around to editing, revising, rewriting, rewriting, and rewriting. I'd love to just put up a bunch more of my drafts, but I think it's time I started completing more stuff before posting it.

With that, I give you my incomplete second draft of my directionless rant "Video Games Killed the Ice Cream Man".

I really just wanted to take the time to thank all the people that genuinely take the time to check my stuff out and critique it in detail. Those are the people I respect most. Whether they're friends I know in person or not, they're the ones that keep me writing/drawing/cutting/shooting/etc.

(of course, this is inspired by Bacon, but that goes without saying)

As for the rest of you... keep creating, and I'll be sure to try to give back to you what you give to me.

I've been working on a lot of new writing, have some photos to be edited, I'm writing/drawing a comic at the moment, and still not finding any time with work to do any of it.

I'm definately on a zombie kick though, so you'll see a lot of the writing/art focused around that. At least until I get the comic out and released or something.

Eventually I'm gonna get a hold of my friend Rebecca and go out and do a whole series of photos, but that's whenever I can finally get some free time.

As for the new photos, I'm going to be working to get the cash to develop those many rolls of film, but in the meantime, there's one particular roll I plan on getting up soon.

My friend Sascha and I headed into DC with some color 35mm and my Canon AE1, and went from ghetto to industrial to corporate to construction, taking a bunch of random shots here and there. Nothing too exciting in the roll, but I'm curious to see how it turned out, and I'll be posting the results.

Update: This time I saw a girl, Sarah ______, who has the cliche upsetting relationship with a neglective boyfriend, blah blah blah. We were friends, agreed to be more 'cause we both cared...

'Bout two days later she's talking to her boyfriend and calls him "Finch". He asked who "Finch" was and some unknown lack of common sense, she decided to tell him... he didn't like it.

We broke it off tonight, still friends, but won't be hanging out anytime soon. She's also not seeing her boyfriend again (for like the 5th time), and is trying to get back with him.

I logged onto DevArt today and had 432 messages in my DevArt mailbox... All from one day's deviations and comments.

I was working and decided to get on AIM for a second. After about 15 minutes... I had 12 AIM windows open. That's after closing a few and telling everybody I was busy. Drove out to Allie's place with Emily, made some sammiches and gave Jonny his lunch at the bike shop. Allie, Jonny, Emily, Jonny's brother + friends and I all met up and drove out to the 9:30 club. I love DC, I need to bring out my camera soon enough, lots of good graffiti. Thank you Allie, for pre-ordering the tickets . We went in and put up with two opening bands, one of which whom played a medley-ish song that was like 20 minutes long.

After a while, one of my all-time favourite bands came on, Catch 22 (got the guitarist/singer's autograph after the show). Went into the pit with Emily and Allie, this being the first ska pit I'd been in. They're more... considerate at ska shows, definately more physical though, it was awesome. I pulled off crowd-surfing twice without splitting my head open this time, so I was pretty psyched.

After a while, Reel Big Fish came on, really badass, I only really recognized 2 or 3 of the songs they played, but it was still awesome. Overall, it was a really fucking awesome show, I came out of it with only the bottom two inches of my shirt not drenched in sweat; I love the pits. Like I said, got my autograph, and we headed out.

For some reason, Allie's mother, not even really knowing me well, let me spend the night over at her house. Wow, she must think I'm a unic or something... she's anti-male, from what I've seen. Woke up and hung out with Emily and Brendon for a while, kicked ass, I hate being shy/nervous around new people, though. Ah well.




Overall, that was my weekend. Once again, thanks to Emily, Allie, and Jonny. They really kick ass.
And for everyone who IMed me in envy and the 3 people who wanted to kill me and steal my ticket... nah-nana-boo boo, you missed out on an awesome show, so ha.




P.s., about the title: The one black guy in Reel Big Fish was awesome. Drove out to Allie's place with Emily, made some sammiches and gave Jonny his lunch at the bike shop. Allie, Jonny, Emily, Jonny's brother + friends and I all met up and drove out to the 9:30 club. I love DC, I need to bring out my camera soon enough, lots of good graffiti. Thank you Allie, for pre-ordering the tickets . We went in and put up with two opening bands, one of which whom played a medley-ish song that was like 20 minutes long.

After a while, one of my all-time favourite bands came on, Catch 22 (got the guitarist/singer's autograph after the show). Went into the pit with Emily and Allie, this being the first ska pit I'd been in. They're more... considerate at ska shows, definately more physical though, it was awesome. I pulled off crowd-surfing twice without splitting my head open this time, so I was pretty psyched.

After a while, Reel Big Fish came on, really badass, I only really recognized 2 or 3 of the songs they played, but it was still awesome. Overall, it was a really fucking awesome show, I came out of it with only the bottom two inches of my shirt not drenched in sweat; I love the pits. Like I said, got my autograph, and we headed out.

For some reason, Allie's mother, not even really knowing me well, let me spend the night over at her house. Wow, she must think I'm a unic or something... she's anti-male, from what I've seen. Woke up and hung out with Emily and Brendon for a while, kicked ass, I hate being shy/nervous around new people, though. Ah well.




Overall, that was my weekend. Once again, thanks to Emily, Allie, and Jonny. They really kick ass.

(I use to do some recording/mixing for my friends, but never had good enough software to do anything).

I've been messing around with the synth's, fx, and different configurations in FL, I can't tell you how much I love it. Once I get the hang of this program, we'll have another NIN on our hands... (yeah, riiiIiiight). (Even though the guy who helped mix later NIN and Methods Of Mayhem did use FL Studio Pro, that has nothing to do with it).

Keep an eye out for random terrible loops and mixes in flash animations, now DevArt won't get on my case about originality and © issues. Ah well, with practice/time/patience, I'll learn to work with it and see what I can come up with. I have some sounds so far, kinda like how they're going, but I still have to record in the raw layers. You'll see .



EDIT: Dude... I had to drive to THREE different stores, just to get this software, and do you know how much it cost for one little cd?... $150 for a 50 cent piece of plastic. (she wants to steal my kittens... over my dead body)
-Went to Gumbo and helped crew. It was an emotional but awesome show, best one I've seen yet. Lots of people crying, but in a good way. Got to hang out with lots of cool friends, something I'm too loser to do normally.
-Hopped in the car with some of the Westfeild guys and drove around for a little bit. Picked up 2 huge boxes of BAWLS (caffiene drink) that lasted us the night... god I love that stuff.
-We drove and raced EVERYWHERE, met up with some stoners at fast food haven, broke bottles, raced around, just basically fucked around.
-New video for The Night Group: Mike and I running up and tipping over a porta-potty... poo flying everywhere, then Savva driving his car into the porta potty and driving it into a ditch... more poo everywhere.
-We went throught the DUI checkpoint on purpose, no shirts on, Savvas tattoo all out, holding glass bottles acting drunk. They didn't even care, just commented on the P.O.S. convertible and sent us on our way. "Where're you guys headed?" "Over to Mickey-D's for some munchies!" "Okay, have a nice night... don't break down."
-Later, we got bored and took the last case of Bawls out to E.C. Lawrence, went to the pitchers mound and just messed around. Chased each other around, stole all the bases, etc etc.
-Walking back up to the cars, and there are two squad cars there, spotlights on us, six guys walking up all dirty beaten up at 3am with empty bottles in their hands. The made us all stop and hold out our arms, I handed them the bag.
Lady Officer: "Do you have any booze on you?"
Me: "Nah man, we're high on caffiene, buzzed, well... awake, (damnit!)"
Lady: "Do you have any drugs on you?"
Me: "Nah, none on us.
Lady: "Are any girls with you guys?"
[everybody starts laughing]
Kennedy: "I wish!"
-We got let off easy, nothing too bad, drove around some more.
-Now we're all just kicking back sleeping over at Brazil Will's house with some more Bawls and guitars. I'm gonna be playing bass for them now, after working on Vantage Point more often.

Our limo driver was 2 hours late in the first place, but it's cool, they gave us an even longer limo for free. Doesn't change the fact that he was late by at least 45 minutes everytime we needed him.

Went to prom, danced with a few friends, flu kicked in and I passed out by the phone booths till some strange dude woke me up. Devon was pissed that I went missing, EVERYBODY let me know. I sat out most of the night, just kinda sat there, and before you know it!-- 1am, everybody's leaving and what happened to the dance Emily's been promising me for a couple weeks? Gone. Well, fuck that, it's not like that was the reason I went to prom or anything, right?

Went to the bowling alley afterwards and chilled with some cool friends, then back to Devon's. Watched Pirates of The etc and everybody passed out. Woke up to some breakfast, and got driven home. Still sick, still have a migrane, still pissed I didn't get my dance.
