Project Zodiac: Fantasy Series, Book 1
The first book in the fantasy series is to be released on December 21st, 2012. The date is not a joke.
The title of the fantasy series is to be announced at a later date.

Project Zodiac: Development
Project development thus far has been research and developing the lore of the world, so very little story has been written; however I've finally come to a point where I can actually start writing more than what I have, and giving myself a 3 year period should be just fine.

Why take 3 years though?
Well, think about it... there's the writing portion, which can take anywhere between a few weeks to a few years; then you gotta edit it for spelling and grammatical errors, let alone quality issues. Also need to have quality assurance review it after every revised edit of the work to get it right.

Once your done with that, publishing begins, and even then there's still the problem of needing to make connections to bookstores willing to carry the book in their inventory. Online stores would most likely work as well, especially Amazon.

Anyway, point being - a 3 year timetable gives me enough time to plan everything out; the writing, editing, publishing, and distribution.

Well, after many months of not having internets, and the unfortunate fate of going insane because of it; what little time I get to spend on the internet at school is used to keep in contact with friends, troll the usual forums, whore out to DA all day, and of course, get all the research and crap I need to work on my beloved Project Zodiac.

Over the course of these past few months, i've been able to expand upon the underlying lore of the world, rather than the actual story. This is what I've been doing for about the past year and a half to two years already, but i've really hit some major breakthroughs as of late. This also includes work on the sci-fi adaptation as i've been able to work out a better overall concept and idea for the story behind that. Everything is finally starting to come together to a central concept. From here it's only going to get harder though, as now that I've got this foundation, I need to keep a damn good amount of quality work.

In the beginning of the project, I decided that I would have 2 main stories. One being fantasy, and the other being sci-fi. Well, as it turns out the sci-fi story started to shape up and already has plans for a sequel. Think of it like Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny, except without the bad change in character like Athrun did. There's also a new mini-series planned which is mostly a side-story tie-in with the fantasy story. This one is going to be significantly shorter and will not feature any characters from the original fantasy story, but will reference them. And yet another story is going to be in development which is a side-story to both the fantasy and sci-fi adaptations as it implements a cross-over between the two. The core foundations of the side-stories have been laid out... yeay.

In terms of artwork, now that everything is shaping up, ideas have stated to form, the only problem being that my inability to create good artwork still remains... i've got some amazing ideas that are flooding my creative thinking, but I just can't translate it well.... i'm starting to think that artwork itself may not be my forte, and that the creative process behind it such as story writing, concept, and overall direction may be instead...

Unfortunately though, my internet is getting shut off tomorrow, so I want to get this all out of the way before it happens...

Well, there's alot to cover in this journal, so it will be divided up into sections, labeled by [bracketed words] in bold.... take a looksie if you want, there's going to be alot of text, so I don't expect many, if any of you to read it; but for the rare few that do, have fun...

[ Living & Financial Situation ]
Well, putting it lightly - we're just above poverty, and by that I mean we're living upstairs.

My stepdad lost his job and is now on unemployment, while my mom still gets SSI income for my disabled brother. My stepdad is in such a pissy mood that he refuses to get another job, yet instead he's considering the military, which from what I understand might not take him since he's got a damn warrant for his DUI from 16 years ago, smooth move idiot. My mom has been shopping around for a job as an apartment manager since she's got about 3 years experience and it's still technically a work-from-home job, so to speak. Recently, my stepdad's unemployment had some internal processing errors and screwed us over out of a month's worth of paychecks and now we're behind on bills. The issue has since been resolved but now we're playing catch up on trying to get the bills paid and don't quite have enough yet, so we're working on getting aid from assistance programs in the mean time to pay for SDG&E. Also, the cable, internet, and phone is getting shut off tomorrow, as previously stated above.

[ School & Unemployment Situation ]
The semester started up at Grossmont Community College and i'm now a full-time student taking 14 credits, and am still unemployed. Due to our current financial situation, I was able to get the "Board of Governors" waiver to pay for my registration / tuition fees, since our income is uber low at the moment.

I'm taking the following classes:
- Intro to Computer Graphics (3DS Max 2008)
- Japanese CCS (Cross Culture Studies)
- Japanese I
- Web Animation (Flash CS3)

Both of my Japanese classes i'm taking with a long time friend from high school, Stu ().

As for finding a job, that's easier said than done. If anyone's been paying attention to the current economic situation in the United States, the national unemployment rate is upto 7.4%, while the California state unemployment rate is at 7.6%, meaning that there are layoffs galore. I've applied to countless amount of jobs, including but not limited to Satan, Inc. (ie: Walmart), and still didn't get hired. I did however get an interview at Startech Computers, but in the end I wasn't hired, which sucked because that would've been a nice job to work at. Now that I've got my school schedule however, I'm able to make a decision based on current work load and what amount of time I'm going to be needing to reserve for homework, studying, or anything else school related. In the coming weeks, I'll be looking for a job pretty much anywhere that's hiring. I've heard from Stu that Gamestop is once again hiring for seasonal, and sure it's shitty pay and the work is far from amazing, but it's a job at this point. I just really hate how hundreds of companies have switched to impersonal online applications instead of sticking with in-person applications, so it's all based on how well you answer their damn questionairre on their application site. I'll be raiding all the local malls and shopping centers for applications to practically everywhere. Here's to hoping that more stores will open up for seasonal, and keep me hired after seasonal if I can live through it...

[ Educational Goals ]
Unfortuantely, going to community college pretty much is a smack in the face when it comes to game art & design choices. All the art classes are tailored to being a fine artist that sells paintings that represent their mind and mood to a mueseum for $2 million per paint splatter. All the multimedia classes are tailored to working in the field of television, such as being a camera man for a newstation or the technical operator of media devices such as cameras, telepromptors, etc.

At this point, I have no idea what the hell my major is going to be at this school since they don't have a major for what it is I'm interested in. The closest thing I could do to Game Art & Design would be to go through Computer Science Information Systems and focus on Web Design, which personally isn't a bad idea since I love working with websites and maintaining them myselves, and it doesn't hurt that I've got IIS installed on my computer with a fully functioning PHP, Perl, and CGI server technologies runn...

Good times. This year I get in free since I'm a volunteer, but the fun part is the exhibit hall and the panels throughout the week.
Skip down to the 2nd paragraph of Preview Night if you want gaming info.

[ Tuesday, July 22nd - Pre-Show Volunteering ]
Started out with a 12-3pm volunteer shift working the Exhibitor Registration area, primarily pulling needed files and filing them back into place as needed, stocking the event guides, and doing some various other things around the registration area. It's not as bad as some people make it seem, since your getting in free for giving 3 hours, there's nothing to complain about. That was pretty much it for this day.

[ Wednesday, July 23rd - Preview Night ]
I started out with my volunteer shift. Originally supposed to be 12-3pm but I arrived a little late so they signed my up for 12:30 instead. No problem. However, I wasn't escorted to the area I was supposed to be in till 1pm. Shift is supposed to last until 4pm at that point, however I was working the Professional Registration area and all the industry professionals decided that they'd arrive at 3:50, flooding the amount of work needed to be done so my shift didn't end till around 5:30pm. After my shift, I go turn in my shit and get my standard "volunteer" badge which gets me into the exhibit halls when I'm not on duty, and my "volunteer on duty" badge for when i'm working. Also got my assignment for Thursday as well.

After all that, Preview Night officially began just as I was leaving the convention center (at 6pm); so I went to grab something to eat so I wouldn't have to deal with the rush. Came back at around 6:30-6:45pm, and dear lord it was awesome. For the duration of Preview Night, I pretty much visited all the video game booths, such as Capcom, Konami, Square-Enix, THQ, EA, EA Mythic, Pandemic (EA), and the "Gaming University" (Maximum PC + PC Gamer).

Capcom had playable Street Fighter IV available, but the line was too long for my tastes, I'll wait till later in the week when most of the people are at the various panels.

At the "Gaming University" booth, I played some Soul Calibur IV (PS3 version) and got my ass kicked when playing as Vader, but overall the game feels alot more like SC2 in both it's gameplay and features 'n' stuffs; but still retains some of the aesthetic features of SC3 with it's character creation system and other things.

I went to the THQ booth where a few games we're being shown off, notably Red Faction: Guerrilla. Some guys from GameTrailers.com were there filming the footage for the site, though it probably wont be on the site for quite some time as they've got the rest of the con ahead of them and they're still getting over E3.

Moving on to the EA booth; Mirror's Edge was being demo'd off by an employee, Battlefield: Heroes, and Crysis: Warhead we're playable. I played a bit of Crysis: Warhead, and you could easily tell that the game had been optimized severely since the first Crysis, and apparently it's ready to go in "Fall 2008" which seems to be the exact same release date planned for Battlefield: Heroes. I was talking to the producer of Battlefield: Heroes, and asked him "So, how 'bout that Battlefield 3?" and all he did was laugh and sigh.

Moved on to Pandemic's showoff of Lord of the Rings: Conquest, and the producer was there as well as one of the designers, both giving me the rundown of the game as well as some nice in-the-industry infoz. I'd have to say that coming out of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and being disappointed, I really fucking enjoyed playing LotR:Conquest; even the producer guy had the same mindset since most LotR games haven't been that great so it took alot for him to want to work on that game.

Down at the Konami booth, they had some playable games as well as an upcoming Metal Gear Online tournaments; most importantly though is the autograph signing that will take place on friday, with Hideo Kojima and some of the MGS4 Production Team.

Square Enix didn't really have much except showing off more collectibles 'n' stuffs. Hopefully they'll have more gaming related things during the actual con (thurs-sun).

After most of the gaming booths, preview night was starting to come to an end, so I wandered the other booths; Sony Online Entertainment, LucasArts, Sony Pictures, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, so on and so forth... then left the con.

[ Thursday, July 24th - Comic Con Day 1 ]
After yesterday's excruciating volunteer shift followed by preview night, I decided that I wouldn't be going until later today when I need to be there for my 3-6pm shift and then spend the last hour of the con available and head home. Not much will be done today for me at least. Friday will be my day off to explore the con, see so...

[ Blizzard Entertainment Announces Diablo III ]

Earlier today, Blizzard Entertainment officially announced Diablo III in Paris, France during the Worldwide Invitational 2008.

Overall, the game seems to have a severe resemblance to that of Diablo II, however there have been the obvious improvements. The game is indeed in 3D, however the game still plays in the traditional 2d camera style that Diablo and Diablo II are famous for. The gameplay itself is still an Action RPG, meaning you will be hacking and slashing your way through hordes of enemies rather than clicking a spell and hoping that you do enough damage before the enemy's turn like in a Final Fantasy title. There is some changes to the health and stats system, but not much has been revealed yet.

Only 2 classes have been announced so far; the Barbarian and the Witch Doctor, a new class with many abilities reminiscent of Diablo II's necromancer class. It was mentioned sometime during the WWI that there will be 7 classes total, whether this was during the 20minute gameplay demonstration or during the D3 Developer Panel is beyond me as I have yet to see anything more than the jaw dropping cinematic trailer and 2 minutes worth of the gameplay demonstration.

Online is being handled primarily the same way as Diablo II was, and will still be hosted through Battle.Net, with Online Co-Op being the primary functionality and focus for development.

For more information, take a look over at the official Diablo III website - [link]

[ What does this mean for Anshinritsumai? ]
It means that I've sold my soul to Blizzard for my next 2 lifetimes... I've already sold them my soul for World of Warcraft, and now they also own it for Starcraft 2 and Diablo III. When will the madness end!? Well, I guess I shouldn't worry too much, as I'll be having a hell of alot of fun playing all 3 of them regardless.

Well, I finally decided to get stressed out and take another pot shot at the computer.

I redid the wiring from the power supply to everything in the computer. At first, everything but the DVD drives would work, which are using IDE connections; so I switched the IDE interface for the DVDs with the IDE interface of the hard drives, and voila, it works.

So, I get to having everything work perfectly fine, then run the Vista Ultimate installer once again. The installer was successful in completing the entire Vista installation without having to restart from the beginning (previously caused by mid-installation hardware failures).

Now, I'm running Vista Ultimate 32bit on this computer, and it makes all the recommended requirements; that's not a problem really. Everything's working absolutely fine. Video card is fine, sound card is fine, speakers are fine, all my plug-n-play hardware (keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc) is working without problem as well. The only real downside is that I've got to spend hours reinstalling all my software (trillian, xfire, photoshop, games, etc) and copying over all my music, movies, and pictures again.

Previously, my computer would not allow me to run any 3d applications at all, everything from Maya & Max to Half-Life & Unreal Tournament... so, out of curiosity and boredom, I installed Warcraft 3, and surprisingly the game ran insanely well. It ran at a constant 30+fps at all times on the highest settings and never crashed once after 6 hours of straight gameplay. I'm currently downloading Portal through Steam, so if all goes well, I'll be able to get back into some online gaming again.

My theory with this, is that after I rewired the computer this time around, I've been able to give more power to the graphics card, and have resolved the "black screen error" caused by a hardware failure; in this case, the graphics card being unable to sustain power. At the same time, I've rid myself of the annoying explorer.exe bug that haunts me; you know, the "cannot delete folder
: the directory is not empty", even though the directory is empty -.-

Anyway, all is well, and hopefully it gets even better when I test out Portal and the computer's stability under the Source engine after the rewiring. Continuing the hopes of good news, I'll be able to continue work on Project Zodiac; and if things go well, I can perhaps start modeling once again, helping to progress my skills in 3D.

[ If the above was too long to read... ]
-Computer is working again and is now running Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit.
-3D games may be a possibility again (Orange Box, Unreal, Warcraft, etc).
-3D modeling/animating may be a possibility again (Maya & Max w00t).
-Continued work on Project Zodiac can resume after temporary halt.

Well, after spending a few hours backing up all 89.3 GBs of data that needed backup (19 DVDs & 2 CDs), I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP Pro with SP3. Unfortunately, however, the attempted installation of an OS seems to piss my computer off and and it consistently shuts off (black screen caused by hardware failure) mid-installation and required upwards of 8 attempts just to get XP Home installed, then an extra 4 attempts for XP Pro.

Eventually, I was able to reinstall everything perfectly fine as normal, but my craptacular power supply and it's dwindling lifespan has pretty much made the situation just as bad if not worse than before, causing a black screen every few hours regardless of temperature (noted by a previous case of overheating when it was in the 90s last week).

I also must mention that for some reason, I've noticed that XP Pro has shown one of it's most annoying bugs ever, and it's a bug in Explorer.exe rather than just some software that's been installed; it consistently gives me an error whenever I attempt to delete something, giving the following in a dialog box; "The folder could not be deleted: The directory is not empty." Let's add insult to injury by stating that this error can not be worked around by running chkdsk, restarting the computer, entering safemode, or disabling any sort of virus software or firewalls; I've done it all and none of it works. I never had this problem when I was running just XP Home, so if I can get the power wiring in the computer fixed, I'm going to attempt to just install XP home for the time being and see where that gets me.

Out of absolute disdain and hatred for my dying computer, I've decided that I would install Vista Ultimate on the computer, as to rid of the stupid error above and fix the unruly DNS & Net Address acquisition problems. Aside from the dying power supply, the computer meets all the recommended system requirements; and just like the XP Installation, the computer dies mid-installation and requires a restart. However, since Vista's installation takes alot longer to install the core files, it fails to make it to the second step of installation and thus every time I've attempted to install Vista, I've had to start over from the beginning each and every time.

And finally, out of a last desperation attempt; I've tried to rewire the entire computer in hopes to reserve excess power from being used by parts that are rarely or not used at all. But, for some reason the computer absolutely despises me and refuses to work altogether now; regardless of the fact that everything is wired correctly, with proper voltages going to correct locations; and considering the fact that it's an older computer that's not hard when I've built a beast of a computer last year...

If the above was too long for you; I don't know how long it will be till i'm online again...

Project Zodiac is the codename for a side-project I've been working on at home for many months now; and like all great movies or games, they start with an idea. Based on the principles of an animation, film, or game production pipeline, the project is still in the pre-production phase and most likely will be for quite sometime, especially considering it's a one-man project at the moment. This is the sort of project that I want to work on for many years to come, to leave my mark in the entertainment industry in one way or another, be it games, movies, anime, manga, or even novels.

Project Zodiac is a metaseries, sort of like Gundam in anime; it's got multiple ideas, genres, settings, so on and so forth. The first story is based in a mythology-inspired fantasy genre, while the other is a sci-fi story with some mecha-inspired themes. For now, only production on the fantasy story is going on, with some small ideas for the sci-fi story popping up every once in awhile. Ever since I started the project, i've been researching everything that I want included in the stories to an excruciating detail. Being mythology-based, I want authenticity to such a degree that it could quite possibly be one of the most accurate depictions of the myths and legends. Though, overall it still remains a fantasy world that is heavily based on the real world; so far, it's a world with it's own nations, religions, populace, animals, creatures, flora & fauna, climate, and other various things; however the world is not complete, it's only half-finished at best. There's much work to be done before it can become a living, breathing world. There is a very, very vague story outline written to tie major events together, and the smaller minute details have yet to be written.

Overall, this doesn't mean I'll be posting some new artwork all of a sudden, it just means that amongst all the inactivity, there is some work going on in the background. There have been many sleepless nights from studying various mythologies and tying them together, as well as hundreds of notepad text documents within Project Zodiac...

~Anshinritsumai

P.S.: Dr Pepper's attorneys informed me that I'm neglecting their hard work of being consumed and that the recycle bin is being under payed...

[ Life Within Deviant ART ]
As noted in a previous journal, the main reason why I haven't posted anything is out of the fear that all of my work sucks, and to be truthful, it does. Most of the things I've done can be easily done in photoshop with the right tools. For example, Long Live The Fire Nation, was posted mainly because the due date was coming up and I had to rush; making the end result far from completed. I would have worked on it further and updated it with a finalized version, however the original PSD document is on my other computer which is currently dead and I don't have the means to fix it at the moment. When I am able to recover the file(s), I do intend to finish it and repost the intended and finalized version. Same goes for some of the other works that I've posted. Though, in the coming times, I do intend to add some work to the gallery; I can't say when at the moment, but I do not intend to give up on working as an artist as either a job or as a hobby. When I actually get around to producing something worthwhile, I shall post it.

[ Life Beyond The Art Institute ]
So. Yea... here it is... at around 3:45pm on Tuesday, March 11th, 2008; I had yet another (actually my first in about a year and a half or more) mental breakdown. I was diagnosed with Long Term Mild Depression back in 2004 when I was 16. It hasn't gotten any better per se, and I guess you could say that it has gotten a little bit worse, but not like psychotic bad or anything. Over the course of the past year or so... the death of a prominent family member (April 30th, 2007) combined with alot of pre-existing family issues, financial instability, and school issues; along with gaining and losing many friends.... all while reality shows it's ugly face....

Anyway, the major cause of this mental breakdown, was out of the fact that I am, without a doubt, a failure. I am about to be kicked out of The Art Institute for academic reasons, as I was not able to live up to the task of taking on 7 classes so I could stay at AI. At the end of this quarter, the Winter '08 quarter; I will be given a letter of Academic Termination, and I will have to move out of student housing and move back in with my parents whom have moved back to California. I will be living with them in Lakeside (eastern San Diego county over near El Cajon and Santee). Still unemployed, without a car or a license; though that may change now that I will have the free time to go to the DMV and get a job. I'm not sure whether or not summer classes at the community college will count towards making an appeal at AI (though the Academic Advisors and Directors seem to think it would); and if it is then I will be able to come back to AI much sooner than later, and if it isn't then I'll have to wait until the end of the semester and by that time comes it will be time for the Winter '09 quarter.

Today, March 17th, was the last time I was able to see some friends I've made at the Art Institute. With this I'd like to say goodbye and it was nice knowing all of you. I just wish that some of the ties between some of us we're stronger than what they are...

Gabe - Good times spent with ye, especially 2nd quarter. Good luck with things in the future, see you around.
Lei - Well, didn't do much in person with ye, but some great conversations whenever they come around. Congrats on graduation and good luck in the real world.
Carrie - We didn't talk often nor did we have any classes together (as far as I'm aware), but there we're some good times when they randomly appeared. Seeya laters.
Hunter - Alot of ups and downs, but regardless; thanks for your support. Alot of your work is amazing, and i'm sure that you will make a damn fine artist in the industry. Laters dude.
Kristine - Had alot of good conversations, as well as alot of good and bad times spent in and out of class(es). Take care, seeya around.
Robert & Nick (P) - Always a good time with you two around. Perhaps I'll join you guys in a spotting round of CS or TF2 one of these days... till then, lates.
Nick (H) - Good times to be had, with all of the Orange Box and Unreal greatness going around. Perhaps I'll join you in a round of UT3 later, till then, seeya on AIM... or xfire....
Dave & Ming - Didn't really talk to either of you much, but then again we only had like 2 classes together; 2d & perspective. Tell Dave to lay off the drugs (legal ones too o.0) and see you two around sometime....
Jon - We didn't really talk much, but when we did there were some great conversations. Take care man, see you around sometime, probably with Jacob.
Jacob - I'll be back in east county again, we should definitely hang out more often; known you longer than anyone else listed here...
Elizabeth - I wish I could've spent more time with you and impr...

I saw it last night, and I really enjoyed it overall; even the ending. Probably because i'm really tired of the standard Hollywood "movies must have an ending" deal; It's refreshing to see someone break the mold. Though I didn't really connect with any of the characters except Rob, Beth, and Hud.

Though, the motion sickness is definitely true. I've never been motion sick ever in my life; and I was fine throughout the entire movie, but as soon as it ended, my head starts going all woozy and it's been like that ever since. I went to bed hoping I'd be better in the morning; but low and behold I'm still woozy, and now I've got a headache and an unrelated sore throat.

The theater I went to was even warning people that some people we're getting motion sickness from the movie XD.

So, hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas was pretty boring really. Didn't do anything but wake up, and get on the computer. I mean there's not much else I could've done anyway. I don't have a car, a license, or money; closest relatives are in Orange County; other relatives in Texas; wasn't invited to anything; didn't receive anything either, except for a card from my mom and a picture of my little brother. The card and picture was actually depressing, I miss my little brother and sister; all the times I spent with them, both good and bad.

New Years Eve was interesting to say the least. My room mate Juan had a friend come over and so we all tried figuring out what we we're going to do for the night; and eventually Juan, his friend, and my other room mate Dmitry decided to go out and get some beer and pizza. Low and behold they came back with a 12+ inch pizza and like 64+ beers, consisting of Newcastle Ale, Bud Light, Heineken, Smirnoff, and Baileys. Well, we started eating the pizza and just started talking about random crap; everything from cartoons and video games to different kinds of beer. I personally don't drink, but I did have a few swigs of Newcastle (British Ale) and I'll say this, it doesn't float my boat; I'll stick to Dr. Pepper thank you. After awhile we decided we'll watch a few movies till the ball drops; and mind you it was like 5pm when we decided this so we ended up watching 3 movies. First we watched Battle Royale, a controversial Japanese film based on a controversial Japanese novel. Then we watched Borat, and finally finished it up with the Chinese epic, Hero, with Jet Li. After we we're done watching Hero we ended up doing nothing for the next half-hour till the ball dropped. Though, once it got close to 15 minutes till 2008, I decided to check my email and crap and then after a few seconds everyone else came into the room and we started watching some game trailers and the gametrailers.com game of the year awards 2007; and finally closed the night with watching some good ol' Yahtzee over at The Escapist Magazine's Zero Punctuation [link]

And my personal favorite of the break, was finally "finding" Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. No big-name stores carry it anymore, only the movies and Gundam SEED Destiny; Amazon doesn't carry all the DVDs yet, some of the smaller retail stores like Suncoast and various anime/manga import stores also only carry the movies or SEED Destiny. But anyway, I was up until 5am this morning having a Gundam SEED marathon as I finished the series off with the last 30 episodes, back to back until I finished. I have to say, that was a DAMN good series.

Kira & Athrun - They are both very interesting characters, and I can relate to both of them in their family situations; attitude and behavior wise though, I'm pretty much in between the two.
Flay - She really pissed me off until the ending when she finally saw her mistakes before.
Cagalli - interesting, though her attitude made me dislike her during some parts.
Lacus - VERY interesting; she had such an innocence to her that her major change towards the end of the series wasn't expected. Oh yea, and I liked the songs she sang.
Nicol, Yzak, and Dearka - They we're a great bunch; Yzak was a little too brash for my tastes, and Dearka didn't really have anything I didn't like about him; though it was too bad Nicol had to go though .
Tolle, Sai, Mir, and Kuzzey - All of them felt kind of like supporting characters in every sense of the word, I didn't have any connection to them at all; except for the fact that the english voice actor for Tolle is the same guy behind Inuyasha -_-.
Natarle Badgiruel - I'm not fond of people that are by the book in every sense of the word, but at times I could agree with her actions, and her attitude was a little too much at some points.
Murrue Ramius - At first she kind of pissed me off, being very authoritarian towards Kira and the others, but as she became more and more lax, she wasn't so bad.
Mu La Flaga - This guy was awesome. Sure he's a war veteran and not all the decisions he makes are right; but when it comes to combat he's good, and his role as the mentor-like character to Kira doesn't hurt either.
Andrew Waltfeld - YES! A badass character that shares my name, I love it. When he's not all high and mighty in uniform, his attitude and behavior was hillarious; and when in uniform and on the battlefield, he's a great soldier. He's awesome.
Rau Le Creuset - Damn he was also awesome. In alot of ways, he reminded me of Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. In the end he didn't give a damn and just wanted everyone to burn, li...

Well, it's been awhile since i've posted anything on DevART, at least in terms of actual artwork; but that's out of good reason, my crap sucks T_T.

It's winter break, so during this time i'm going to be doing somethings, in fact i've already started on a drawing in photoshop that I can't wait to finish. It just popped in my head the other day so I sketched out a small little outline of it with some very rough details; one of those things that only the person who drew it could understand what it all means. So hopefully I'll have that done soon and ready to go.

Aside from that I'm also working on expanding upon the story I wrote for one of my classes; it's something I really want to flesh out and expand upon beyond just a project for school. Though for the most part it's still in the writing stages, as I'd rather have everything writen down in a solid state and then come up with designs later; I may sketch out some things for it, I may not.

I've also got my [Enter WoW nerd]story for my characters from WoW that I want to flesh out as well; I've had a small general outline written out before but I went back to read that the other night and found that i've got alot of continuity errors with the WoW lore[/Exit WoW Nerd], so I need to re-write that...

Oh yea, and plans for break.... uh... well, i'm pretty much gonna be alone all break at student housing doing nothing but what I mentioned above....
Hope you all are having a good break, seeya'll next quarter ^^.

Haha, Part III!!

Ok. So. Well, at the end of my last quarter I was able to move into Student Housing and was able to stay here in San Diego to continue college at The Art Institute (w00t). Only problem really was that at the end of my 4th quarter, I ended up failing all 4 of my classes because I had to pack and move out the same week of finals... to top it all off, my parents got the moving truck 2 days early so I had to cram a day and a half of packing into about 12 hours (which is the equivalent of all 4 days of Comic Con crammed into Preview Night). And a major thanks to one of my longest known friends, Osatox (doesn't have a DevART account), for letting me stay at his place for a week, without him I would've had to stay in a hotel for an entire week and I didn't have the money to do that. Oh the good times we had. A few anime/movie marathons and some all-nighter gaming sessions (usually World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike, Fortress Forever, or Unreal Tournament 2004). After about a week or so I actually moved IN to student housing, now living with a fellow AI student and classmate, Diego; whom I've known for my entire time at AI with an exception to first quarter. Life has been overall fine since the move in. No issues between the room mates and myself; and the quarter itself has started off relatively well. I was able to discuss my Academic Progress with some Academic Advisers this last week and it was determined that for me to have Academic Probation lifted from my Academic Record; I will have to get straight Cs with a few Bs here and there before the next evaluation period (end of 6th quarter); but I'm shooting for at least straight Bs with As if possible, so I'm not too concerned as absences we're always the problem in the past and that issue has since been resolved. I was pleased to hear that the only requirement to transfer into Game Art & Design is a 2.5 GPA and the (temporary) Director of Game Art is more than willing to transition me over as soon as I reach that goal, so my goals for the straight Bs w/ As is strengthened even further as I've finally got the hope for getting into the major I've wanted to be in since Admissions.

Still need to get my permit, liscence, a car, and a job; but I'm still taking things on one at a time, focusing mainly on a job now that i'm living technically "on my own" but my roommate Diego and I get along great and we pretty much split the costs on almost everything.

Alright, I've got Effective Speaking in 5.5 hours and Character & Object Design in 9.5 hours... time to get some sleepage

And, they just gave the 30 day notice to our land lord saying that we're going to be moving to Texas within 30 days. Now, they are well aware that the quarter @ AI isn't over just yet, and they still want me to both pack my things and still pass my classes...I just hope to God that at the end of this ordeal, I can stay in San Diego and move into Student Housing. But until that time comes, this next month is going to be the epitome of hell for me.

Well, some of you already know this, and some of you don't. And here it is regardless.

At a time right around Comic Con, I was informed that my parents (mom + stepdad) had come to the conclusion that they want to move to Texas so they can get a house, since living here in California is soo expensive, we don't have the ability to own a house here. So, when told the news I pretty much flat out said that I'm not going to move to Texas. I lived there before, and while it wasn't bad, it certainly wasn't good either. In an attempt to get me to move to Texas, I was told something I already knew; there's an Art Institute out in Texas. To which I replied that that is not the point. The point is that I have moved over 38 times in the 19 years of my life. I'm not going to move again, at least so far away. All of, or at least most of my friends are here in California; Jacob07777, Nana-Pie, Osatox, Touya Tenkan, Kristine, SirGabriel; and countless others who I haven't named. So, what does this mean? It means that within the next few weeks / months, I have to move into student housing or find alternative living conditions (perhaps sharing an apartment w/ friends in the area?); as well as get my permit/license, and a job to self-sustain whatever else I may need.

Life hasn't been too great in the past few months, and this major turning point is no exception...

[ Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 - Pre-BlizzCon ]
Well, since most hotels we're packed full with reservations (not all reservations we're BlizzCon, some we're other conventions, businesses, Disneyland tourists, etc); we ended up having to go up to the area to scout out some hotels/motels in the area for availability but first and foremost the first thing we did was get some food at the Coco's restaurant on Katella Ave. I didn't notice for a few minutes that I had 3 missed calls from my long-time internet friend Eddi (from Pittsburgh, PA / Wheeling, WV); so while waiting for our food, I called him back (after 3 tries since Verizon's network was temporarily offline for some odd reason), and told him where I was. After a few minutes, I noticed Eddi and his friend Cameron outside and they came in and for the first time evar; I met an online buddy in person. Known Eddi for about 5 years now thanks to gaming, and it's not going anywhere any time soon. Afterwards we we're discussing their day(s) in town and how they like California since it was their first time here. Talked about the upcoming BlizzCon the next day, where they we're staying, etc. Eventually we decided since there was only one hotel open with rooms and that was going to cost roughly $450, that Eddi and Cameron would let me stay at their hotel room since it also has a sofa-sleeper thing as well. So, thanks to Eddi and Cameron; I didn't have to spend $450 on a hotel and had extra spending money. Of the $700 I had for spending, I lost $100 right off the bat to lunch and my mom's gas money.

Soon after Eddi arrived, my aunt and cousins also arrived since they live in the county, they met up and we discussed how I would end up getting home from BlizzCon since my mom wouldn't be able to come back up to pick me up on Sunday or Monday. Once we settled on my aunt driving me home on Sunday, we then went to Eddi's hotel to drop off my things and then proceeded over to the Convention Center for early badge pickup. Now, unfortunately, we weren't the only people to think of this so the lines we're insanely packed during this time. Though, thankfully they we're a bit more organized this year for Badge Pickup. Still not quite as good as Comic Con, but it's BlizzCon's second outting so they've got some time to catch up. When I got to the front of the line for my last name; I informed the guy that my last name is for this line, but the name on the credit card for badge purchase was my mom's married name, which was on the other side of the entire badge pickup area and was the longest line in the entire badge pickup process. So, I had to stand off to the side for about 20-30 minutes for them to find out where my badge is and crap like that. Eventually, they found my badge and everything was all fine and dandy. Met up with Cameron upstairs since he was done before Eddi and I, and we we're waiting for a good 10-20 minutes for Eddi to get his stuff. While waiting we looted the goody bags for some [PH4T L3WTZ]. Cameron got shafted and his bag was like some random trash mob that drops nothing more than a few pieces of silver and a linen cloth; where as mine was like a rare spawn that dropped a couple greens, a blue, and some nice chunks of silver. Actually, in all seriousness; BlizzCon already stated that all bags are not guaranteed "all" items, and Cameron got most of the items in the bag (the T-shirt, the WoW trading card game starter set, the Blizzard-themed pins, etc); where as mine came with everything his had, plus a few WoW trading card game booster packs, some extra little coupons for discounted or free items at the Nvidia/Intel/Killer/J!nx booths; and a few other little items.

Unfortunately there was nothing to do after this and for that very reason we just headed back to the hotel to really start the lewting of the goody bags, and then quickly decided on getting some dinner at Domino's with the 555 deal (3 medium pizzas for only $5 each); though we ended up walking down there since I didn't think that specific Domino's delivered, and secondly, that was blatantly obvious when we got down there. So, we ordered our pizzas and then proceeded to Vons next door f...

Let's see...

Preview Night: Wednesday, July 25th, 2007
This was certainly interesting; they changed the entrance to the line to get the badges this year at the Sails Pavilion on the upper level, so it was a bit of a trek across the convention center getting in line then having to go down to disabled services to get the badges for my brother and our home-health nurse for my brother. We trekked around most of the exhibit hall finding alot of good and random stuff that we wanted or seemed interesting to us to say the least. I ended up purchasing the box set of Battle Royale and Battle Royale II: Requiem in a 3-disk special edition, and all 15 volumes of the Battle Royale manga from the Tokyo Pop booth, which set me back about $150 altogether.

Got some nice Shonen Jump bags this year, again; this year they are purple, but still the same quality as before; uber quality.

Thursday, July 26th, 2007:
Now THIS was an interesting day. Arrived at the convention center at around 10:30am, and didn't actually get in until around 11am. I first met up w/ John and Alex during this time, and for the most part we stayed together as a group for awhile, with some other peeps that I don't know =x. After a few minutes or so we went to go meet up with Armita but she had to go do something so after that we all pretty much got seperated and did our own deal for the most part. John and his friend started wander around, Alex and the others went off in another direction; and Stuart and I we're going elsewhere also. Not too long later, I remembered that Warner Bros. was giving out tickets to Petco Park for a special screening of 300, and so then we went to meet John and round up the rest of the gang so that we could all go get some tickets to 300. After making our way across the convention center exhibit hall we ended up getting our tickets and then quickly spotting Unreal Tournament 3 in a playable state; so we went there for a bit and attempted to play but it was insanely crowded =x, so we waited like an hour and a half just to get a chance to play and when we did, oh it was good. I believe John came and went a couple times during this fiasco, but Stuart and Alex and I we're content at the Gaming University w/ computer hardware and Unreal Tournament 3 at our finger tips.

During our time at the Gaming University booth, Stuart had informed me that Judi would be meeting us in a few minutes, and when she does she kind of surprised me; but the appearance of my ex-girlfriend Jesica was definitely something I didn't expect.

For the rest of the night however, everyone was scattered around and for a 4 day convention it's not surprising in the least; good times all around. Stuart, Judi, Jesica, and I ended up spending our time together wandering the con finding things that we liked and or felt like picking up (ie: freebie swag), at least until the Exhibit Hall closed at 7pm. So we went outside to go catch the trolley, but the crowd for crossing the street was so insane that it was better to just sit and wait and or go the other direction; so instead we went and sat on the stairs in the middle of the convention center that lead upto the Sails Pavilion. Ended up just trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the night, and eventually settled on going to Anthony's Fish Grotto for dinner. During all this however, was an interesting turn of events; I ended up spotting some Blizzard Employees walking on by as they had left the center and low and behold that one of them is the well known World of Warcraft Community Manager, Eyonix; so out of surprise I end up pointing directly at him and yell "CHAAAADDDD!!!!!!" and the look on his face as he looks left and right in the crowd in front of him was "Who the hell?" and then he finally spots me and all "Oh hey, sup? You here all 4 days?" and we had a small little chat which ended with a "Seeya next week at BlizzCon" deal. Also, there was a guy dressed up as Bender from Futurama and there was also another guy dressed up as the doll from SAW, and both we're for the most part doing their own thing; at least until they spotted each other where the guy dressed up in the SAW outfit, walked down the stairs and greeted the Bender cosplayer, in which case they RP'd the idea of becoming partners-in-crime for the con.

We ended up leaving the convention center itself around 7:30pm, and walked about 2-3 miles to Anthony's for dinner. There was definitely some good times during dinner, mostly alot of laughter coming from making...

Now, instead of playing World of Warcraft at 8.5 frames per second, I play it at no lower than 60fps at all times; with an exception to Terokkar Forest (that place is a resource hog). I also went from 5-20 FPS in Counter-Strike: Source & Day of Defeat: Source to about 60-130fps. The only real problem I have with this system is since I'm running Vista 64-bit, Creative has horrible driver support so I can't use my X-Fi sound card just yet; but the RealTek onboard audio works just fine. Doesn't really have the surround sound but I don't need it just yet. As long as I have sound w/ voice capabilities, i'm fine. Skype and Vent both work perfectly.
