So, it's been a while since I posted anything. Apologies as usual for the art diarrhea all over your deviantWatches (particular apologies for the mental imagery if you were eating something as you read that). It's the usual mix of things that I'm just getting around to drawing.

Also, I'm planning on getting some more fan art done this weekend – probably more of the literature variety than anything. More fan art than what has already been tossed in the scraps.

Speaking of a particular piece of fan art in the scraps, someone went to go see Ponyo earlier this week. And that someone was me. Since I know everyone and their brother is going to ask me, I'll place my thoughts about the film here:

It's not the grand, sweeping epics of Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, or Howl's Moving Castle. Let me just say that now. The audience is obviously children. Think Totoro. Think Totoro with a more confusing narrative and some REALLY BAD PARENTING. (“Hey, Sousuke, I'm really worried about the people at the senior's center, so I'm going to leave you, a five-year-old, alone in a house that could very easily flood since there's a tsunami right outside our yard, but your friend's magical and I've packed you a lunch, so it's all good.” ) But since it's a kid's movie, you're obviously not supposed to think that hard (even if I did).

Okay, so I'm coming off like I didn't like it. I did enjoy it – it's a very sweet movie, and one worthy of any film collection – but there were some things in the that made me tilt my head. On to the things I liked:

1. The animation is as gorgeous as ever.
2. Joe Hisaishi's score rocks.
3. TINA FEY, LIAM NEESON, and CATE BLANCHETT are in the English version.
4. While she's more of a big sister than a mother to him, Sousuke's mom is pretty fun to watch.
5. Fujimoto. That is all.

Despite everything I've said, I'll probably buy this when it comes out on DVD. If you love Miyazaki, you'll still enjoy the film.

I've been biking about 5 miles each night for the last week or so, and it's really wiping me out at the end of the day. I now sleep better than the dinosaurs. Of course, the real problem is waking up in the morning...

Anyway, I do have a new deviation up this week just so that I don't go insane. It's my first real sort of landscape picture, and it's also my 100th upload to my gallery! (Though I've really got about 140 pictures total, if you include the scraps.)

I'm thinking that I'd better organize my gallery. Does anyone else have trouble navigating the gallery? I'll organize the whole thing eventually, especially since it's gotten so huge, but I might be faster at cleaning it up if someone said something about it.

But like I said, now that I'm finished with the three-act performance, my schedule has been significantly freed up. (I can eat dinner at my house again!) Also, I'll be getting back a bunch of my art from much earlier in the school year, so you'll get a flood of new (for everyone else besides me) stuff pretty soon.

In other words, watching Masterpiece Theater's adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights leaves me feeling completely out of control of my destiny. Really, it's all the characters' faults, particularly Catherine. I mean, jeez, if you love Heathcliff, just marry him. Who's going to know? YOU LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.

I won't go into the further details of this story. If you enjoy being a martyr, you can go partake in this "classic love story" for yourself.

The point of this entry is that, when I went to doodle something last night, Ms. Brontë's good ol' story left me feeling so depressed that I literally thought: "What's the point?"

Don't worry; this adaptation hasn't left me with some long-term lack of self-esteem, or anything. I just don't have anything to update with this time, but I'll probably have something up by next weekend.

The sad thing about this whole thing is that I know I'll wind up watching the second half of Wuthering Heights next Sunday, too...

...Probably 'cause Heathcliff is a looker.

Unlike last year, when I had art at the end of the year, my teacher will be saving most of the students' stuff to submit it into contests and other things. Which is exciting, but it means I won't get to have it back 'til April, which means none of you will likely see any of it until at least that time.

One of these days, I will get cracking on some more real fan art. It's just, y'know... real life. I've got a few more ideas floating around, and they WILL take physical form! *shakes fist* Someday!

There are a lot of reasons for why it took so long for me to update my art. The short story is: my laptop died and we got a new one so now I can actually make use of this bloody account.

The long story is a tale of woe too miserable for me to want to describe. Particularly not with a sprained wrist.

I still think it's pretty sad that the only time I find to upload this stuff is on a day where I'm too sick to go to school...

I've only got older things on here for now, so I'll update whenever I draw or paint something I'm willing to let the rest of the world see.
