Wahaha, update lapse again - hoo Uni work's starting to hot up in the production line of things now, with animatics being the current task and the actual start of animation proper looming right around the corner (scary scary D: ).
I have, however, found a little time between recording burps in the soundbooth and watching find reprieve playing 'Left 4 Dead 2' to upload some concept work/sketch previews etc., so there is some stuff to prove I am still playing in my spare moments! XDD

So. Onto far more important matters. Who am I going to be seeing at the Int. Cosplay Ball, and who's totally not ready for it yet? *already has her dress sorted and feels incredibly smug. Just to rub it in a little more. Y'know. ;D*

I think about 13? (unlucky for some! )

2. Do you sleep at conventions?
All the time. Generally drooling with my face half-smooshed infront of people I don't really know. It makes a really good impression X3

3. Do you eat?
I'm getting better at it! I actually managed at least a pack of sandwiches per day this time! XD

4. Are you shameless at conventions?
Utterly shameless; especially when it comes to blurting at con-guests/voice actors I fangirl.

5. On average, how much money do you spend?
I cannot disclose that information here. I am a student, and my father reads this XDD

6. Do you go to conventions to pick up people?
Totally. Men in Sailor Scout outfits really do it for me.

7. Do you go to conventions to bang people?
Lolno.

I try not to XD

Omg, srsly? Cosplaying's for losers - I wouldn't be caught dead.

Only when I'm cosplaying Yamazaki, who seems to enjoy showing off a lot of chest and leg in his yukata XD

Apologies for the very varied lighting in the photographs, btw XD All of the Doll stuff is the same shade of pink, I promise (or I'm more blind than I thought D: ) - the carpet-background photos were just taken at 1:30 in the morning under crappy overhead artificial light XDD

First up, however - Yamazakiii~!



This was the first test I've done for Yamazaki with the wig and the makeup together - t'was very exciting o.o I'll be getting black contacts very soon, too, and I finally bought the fabric and pattern for making my yukata today~


Everything else below is the horrendously girly, flowery pinkness that is Doll.















This last photograph is the design I'm planning to use for painting my nails on the days I'm wearing her, since plain pink seemed a bit-...well...plain, and I figure it'll match my waist sash and one of my stockings, anyway...;3

I've been drawing substandard, static art for far too long, and it just won't do. If I want to be any good at all and get to where I want to be, I need to get my arse in gear, catch up to my peers and start being bolder about the stuff I do.
I don't just need to climb walls - I need to vault over them. It sounds a bit pathetic, but I've been up all night about it, and I'm determined now to really push the boundaries of what I can do. I'll never be as good as I want to be if I spend my whole time sitting in a comfort-zone box.
My goal is to reach the point where I'm getting genuine 'wow's instead of polite 'that looks really good's. I've got a long way to go until then, but I desperately want to get better to the point where I can actually say that I deserve praise for the stuff I do.

I just don't feel right now like I'm making any progress, and I need to change that, if only for my own peace of mind.

So from now on, please do not cut me any slack. Be as harsh as you like with your crit; any suggestions you have, make them. Spare me no error. I want to be the best that I can be, because it's necessary if I'm ever going to be able to do justice to the things I want to do.

Thank you for everyone's support up until now - I am determined to keep climbing upwards.

Even as we speak, I am sat in the library at my cramped terminal waiting for the stone age printers to spit out the fruits of my labours this term and trying desperately to avoid planting my elbow in the half-congealed puddle of spilt coffee on the left-hand side of my desk.
I've also been trying to get this sneeze out for about fifteen minutes, and it's giving me a headache o____o Studentdom has never seemed so appealing XDD

On the brighter side, my laptop is finally back, so people can stop complaining at me for disappearing off the face of the earth, now; and in addition to this, with the prospect of my deadlines being over and done with as of tomorrow, I shall be at my leisure to - as I always promise and never actually do - flood my DA account with updates~! Whoopdee ^______^

Still waiting for my copy of 'Breaking Dawn' to come through in the post from Ebay. Literary addiction is horrible and tortuous ;-;

As useless as I usually am at responding to messages (this will improve with time - I will make it ¬¬"), I'm being even more useless at the moment since I've just moved house (and am now living with ze lovely ~<3) and won't have internet for two weeks.

On the plus side, we now have fish >u> A whole bowlful of four - two fantails called Jazz and Rocket (Fez's) and two shubunkin called Kabuki and Pirate (mine >D). Photos will soon be abundant, because they're really cute ^^" *luffs*
(btw, Dad - or Mum - if you're reading this, you can't be shocked because I'll already have told you. So nyah. >D)

There will also be an influx of art soon, hopefully, because this interlude of netlessness (weep) is a really good opportunity for me to get off my lazy butt and actually do some drawing XD
I have to catch Fez up anyway, since she's already uploaded the prologue of her manga 'Break' here, and since it is rather brilliant, you should all go have a read if you haven't already ;D

I am now clueless as to why everyone said that Treasure Planet was such a flop for Disney - I watched it this evening (morning - ahah >____>") with some friends, and I loved every second of it Oo"
This is quite possibly because I'm insanely easy to please when it comes to movies (heck - I own League of Extraordinary Gentlemen on DVD; and in all fairness, how pants was that? XD), but I really thought it was something worth peoples' while to check out X3 Plus the soundtrack being composed by James Newton Howard doesn't hurt, either...>.> *will buy at the soonest opportunity*

My Student Finance forms came through the post this morning ;-; I swear there's the equivalent of one tree in every envelope...Why do they have to make it such a darn mission to complete the process? ^^" *brainbreakage* I guess, though, if they're lending X number of students Y amounts of money, they have to make sure they do at least something to earn it...>____> *shot*

At least we don't seem to be the only ones confused, though, since the weather can't seem to make up its mind what to do, either XD It's been trying to snow all morning here, which is a bit crazy since the day before yesterday was bright sunshine, and yesterday was rain and hail storms Oo" Global Warming certainly does make things very exciting~ o____o

I forgot to mention it yesterday, but I saw two films over the last few days: 'Silk' and 'Atonement', and both of them I'd really reccommend to anyone who hasn't seen them yet; they're so moving and beautiful~~~
The cinematography and the visual impact of both films is absolutely stunning, and the acting's very good (with casts like that, though, I guess that's a sort of given ^^") although they do leave you feeling in dire need of some comfort food XD
But yes: for anyone who fancies a quiet evening in with some films that'll make you think a bit and move you (across the sofa for the tissue box, most likely >____>, those are definitely a good choice ^^

I would just like to give a bit of limelight to the lovely ^^

This is because, when I was in a relatively foul mood this evening, I came online to check my DA messages and found a note from her to say that she'd spotted the commissions (an unfairly talented and all-round great guy who does some wonderful Bleach fanart, amongst other things - please go check out his gallery ) produced for me of my character Midori, and liked Midori's design so much that she had done a fanart of her for me.
The fanart can be seen here and the aforementioned commissions by here and here. If you have a moment, please do go and check out their galleries - they are wonderful people whom I am very grateful to~

So that, coinciding with the fact that for some reason - I know not what, or why, because it's not even a particularly great picture of her XD - Sorrento Moon now has 31 favourites to its name, leads me to conclude that Midori seems to have a growing fanbase >___>

In other news, my braces are finally off! *shockhorror* So I now have a normal smile I also start Uni this Saturday, and I bought 'Curse of the Golden Flower' today!!! *beams* Gong Li is enviably gorgeous, as always, and the costumes, set pieces, cinematography etc. etc. are all absolutely stunning, so if you're already a fan of 'House of Flying Daggers', 'Hero' and all that jazz, I thoroughly recommend you go take a look ^^

Sai and Mort, possibly two of the coolest, angstiest bishies in the world going to dinner with an adorable nutcase like Mishu is amusing enough to begin with, but they'd probably end up somewhere like Ben & Jerry's, because they'd never heard of Phish Food and Mishu wanted to show it to them
As for what they'd talk about...military and reconnaissance tactics with a healthy smattering of nostalgic blunder-in-the-dojo tales on the side. Sai, Mort and Mishu all have plenty of combat-training splat moments to offer up

Anime. Not an artform? Ahh, I see the dawning recognition on your faces ;D

'It's just imitation.'
'It's copying!'
'Oh - that's like that Pokemon stuff, isn't it?'

If you, like me, enjoy drawing manga or anime-style art in your free time, these may be just a few of the comments you're familiar with, be it from other students, teachers, uni interviewers, relations or whoever.
I have three words to say in response:

Anime. Is. Art.

Ok, some may see their point: I certainly do. Yes, there are certain criteria which tend to feature in this art style which categorise it as 'Anime': the shape of the nose, the eyes, the way the hair is drawn. Those are the main ones that come to mind, right? These tend to be present in most people's work in one way or another, so granted, those aren't particularly original aspects.
Secondly, yes, ok, getting stuck in a rut and only being able to draw in an animeish/cartoony style isn't good; being artistically flexible is a great thing to be, especially if you want to do it professionally, because not everyone's going to want anime stuff - plus, it does you credit to be able to achieve more ^^ However: for those of us who keep up a classical/educational discipline alongside our anime art, this still doesn't seem to satisfy them.

'Oh, you draw anime - you're not a real artist.' - yes, we are!!!

For heaven's sake - ok, so the nose is pointy. Ok, so the eyes are a certain shape. Ok, so the hair's spikey; but isn't that still a drawing of a (fairly) anatomically correct, recognisable human being with an artistically-pleasing background lying there infront of you? So maybe it's in a particular art style - big deal. If it was in the style of Picasso or Matisse instead, would it recieve the same discrimination? You still have to be able to draw to do that; it does take some degree of artistic skill to achieve a finished piece like that.

And then, that phrase of all phrases that we love to hear:

'You need to develop your own style!'

...Ladies. Gents. Please. I don't know about the rest of you guys out there, but I've been studying art in some form or another since I was 12. I passed GCSE art. I passed A-Level Fine Art, A-Level Textiles and AS-Level Photography. I'm currently predicted a merit for Art Foundation Course. I have had two unconditional offers from two separate University Animation courses.
Just because I draw anime in my spare time does not mean that I am hopelessly fucked at doing anything else. Believe it or not, Anime isn't the only thing I can draw. Believe it or not, I am actually a thinking, feeling, intelligent individual with a brain that realises there's more out there than this one art style.

They patronise us; they look down on us; they criticise us; they dismiss our work; and they discount us, because we happen to draw in a particular way that is foreign, unique, and that they deem as inferior to a slice of dead cow suspended in a tank of formaldehyde or a canvas covered in paint splatters that sells for an obscene amount of money.

Anime and manga are fast becoming one of the most popular, in-demand markets of the time.
Anime is art. Anime drawers are artists. It takes talent, it takes creativity, and we are producing our own work in our own right. Didn't the Impressionists get stick at the turn of the 20th Century for being different, painting in a particular way and all producing their work in the same style under the same set of criteria?

We are the Impressionists of the 21st Century. We rock, and we are growing in number every day, everywhere.

But I'm looking forward to the next step: I want to improve my art, I want to get better at the things I love doing, I want to meet new people and do new things and go new places - it's a big step, but I feel ready to take it, finally ^^

At any rate, yes: my course is insane. When they said 'intensive crammer course', they really weren't kidding - but we're already five topics in, and I can't believe it's going so fast XD I've only just started to get to know the other people in my class Oo"

I apologise for the severe lack of updates recently (that said, when have I ever been frequent with my updates anyway...? XD *spasmodic and art-like*) - the above is the main cause. However, I have now gotten to the point where I am settled into the routine enough to juggle doing my work and a fair amount of slacking off at the same time, so hopefully that should mean a rise in productivity XD
Heaven's sake: I have to get working on a Hallowe'en collab with , I have gift art promised to several people, I have to design Christmas cards, think about a Christmas pic-...And ontop of that, I have fanart bunnies - they plague me ;-; *crawls into her corner*

So, here's to a week of visiting Da Vinci exhibitions (oh yes - rock on all fans of the master X3), crashing at peoples' houses, going to the cinema to see all the new end-of-October releases and general slacking off X3 *showers all in shiny things*

I want to talk about it to people and just forwarn them that I could need their support sometime in the near future; but at the same time, I'm kind of scared of telling them because I don't want things to be awkward - does that make sense? I don't want them to be down or overly worried for me or anything - I'd rather just get on with life being normal, and then worry about whatever comes when it actually happens.
It sounds like a bit of a silly thing to hesitate over, but I know that there's always a chance that if I do tell them the news and stuff, and ask them not to act weird and say I'm ok, they might act differently towards me anyway. That's what I'm a bit scared of...

I've had a real run of bad incidents lately, so this news is like the fourth blow I've had over the last two weeks - and it's easily the biggest. I could just do with a bit of normalcy right now - I don't want to be frightened of losing something important; at least, not until the time comes.

At the same time, the news hasn't really sunk in yet; it'll probably hit me the next time I see the person or something. Life's very unfair, and it always seems to be to the loveliest people

Slightly strange mood tonight, though...I'm in a hundred different places mentally at the moment: art, writing, work, job, results, direction, people...wow - what alot to think about! I have lots of inspiration, and at the same time none at all.
It'd be nice if you could just have more time to think about things - if only there were more hours in the day - but then I reckon everyone feels like that.
The change of season seems to have alot of people thinking at the moment as well: alot of long-term couples I know have broken up recently, which feels kind of strange, since their names won't automatically come paired together in a sentence anymore.

Got hooked on a new anime this weekend, though, and aquired a new bishie ^^ New bishies keep me going ;D Mori-senpai from Ouran High School Host Club - what is it with me and angsty/silent pretty guys? I also can't stop listening to his character song 'Itsumo Gawa Ni', just because his voice makes me melt everytime I hear it Oo"
Also watched up to episode 21 of Peacemaker: dear god - how could they be so heartless as to leave DVD 6 on such a cliffhanger? ;-; ADV are heartless and mean! *shakes fist*

Ano...I have new pyjamas trousers, which are baby pink and have lace on them. And you can probably tell I'm running out of things to say I'm in a total rambling mood. I wanna go back already! *flail* That was the most amazing weekend I've had in ages~! We drove up on Thursday (had a bit of a bump on the way - Kishkosh stopped on a motorway roundabout by accident and a camper van drove into the back of us! Second time I've been in a car accident in the space of two months, actually - scary >.>") to stay an extra night so we wouldn't have to miss any of the action on Friday morning. Needless to say, I got no sleep whatsoever on Thursday night, because I was too excited X3 It was like being a little kid on Christmas Eve all over again! *squicksquick*

Friday itself was just unreal. I was cosplaying Fai in a mismatched fellowship of an Aizen from Bleach, a Kimbley from FMA and a Krad from DN Angel, and we sort of loitered around fangirling/boying all the different costumes and occasionally taking it upon ourselves to go and pounce random people in the queue XD Needless to say, word that the Fai cosplayer with the giant Mokona plushie was a total nutcase got around pretty fast >.>"
I was then bowled over by the discovery that not only were Greg Ayres and Monica Rial going to be there, but also Chris Patton was attending as a surprise guest - which totally bowled me over because of the number of bishies of mine that he voices Oo" Sad to say that and I stalked them all over the Con to the extent that I actually got a mention on Chris' MySpace blog *giggle* Anyway - I got to meet them all in the chill area outside the bar that evening, and I think I must have been spasming for about ten minutes after Greg and Chris signed my Salty Dog I and Monica stole my Mokona to glomp it; so thanks, guys! You were amazing, and it was so cool to meet you all X3 (And Monica really sounds like that ;D *smooshes her*)

Saturday, I have to admit, was the downer of the con - I was cosplaying Kira from Bleach (complete with balsa wood Wabisuke), but it was very windy and rainy that day so the moment I stepped out of the dorms, Wabisuke broke because the wind blew it to one side and I accidentally stepped into it ><" This meant that I spent almost the entire day running all ove the con on a wild chase for glue, because the cosplay workshop didn't have any Ontop of that, when I went to check on how my prints were doing in the Artist's Alley, it turned out I hadn't sold a single one; the monthly curse had also started that morning; there were a few inter-group/personal issues occurring that were making me feel very uncomfortable etc. Anyway, it all came to a head in the afternoon and I went and sat in the cafeteria and had a bit of a cry until I felt better (bless Fezling - she's a star for sitting with me and cheering me up the whole time ^^).
All that said, the fan-dub panel and the interview panels with Greg and Monica were 100% worth attending (for those that were there: Monica the mango. You know it makes sense ;D), and I finally managed to get hold of some glue and fix Wabisuke in time for the Masquerade - which was a total blast X3 I've been told that AmeCon actually bittorrented the videos they took of it for download, so those of you who want to see me with a crazy Kira hairstyle and a full-scale Wabisuke getting smooshed into Matsumoto's breasts just gimme the word and I'll show it to you XD

Sunday, however, was by far the best day of the Con ^^ Chris' panel in the morning completely cracked us all up (who knew Sousuke was so pervy? Oo"), and after that I spent most of the day tearing round the con running away from two utterly crazy Fai fangirls that I met at breakfast in the cafeteria who kept piling ontop of me and molesting me everytime they saw me afterwards, and also looking for an illusive and very pretty Hatake Kakashi cosplayer who kept disappearing everytime I managed to spot him XD I finally pinned him in the games room, though - but alas, at the one time when I didn't have my camera on me for a photo XD I did, however, manage to make a whole load of new friends (and get an also very pretty Cloud cosplayer's promise of buying me a drink later that evening at the cosplay ball) by going around in the afternoon and flogging off all my prints (because none of them sold in the end - but what the heck X3 It got me lots of pocky and hugs and a free drink from Cloud Strife, so I'm not complaining) ;D

It's a question that's always puzzled me; why are we blind to our own work? How can we look at someone else's masterpiece, and say 'Wow - that's really something' and then look at our own and say 'It's terrible - I have no talent'.

Why is it that others outside the box can look in and appreciate its contents, when the one inside can't see how beautiful it is? It is like physical blindness - it seems immovable, inpenetrable: it's something we can't see past. It becomes a fact, rather than an opinion - 'my work is dreadful' is all we can think, even when the rest of the world sees how beautiful it is.

Why is it that the words of strangers who don't know us strike us deeper than the words of those who do; how can the minority so far outweigh the majority with the consequence of what they say?
How can they blind us to our work so badly? Why does what they say deafen us to everything else? 'I met a man today who spat on my work - so I shall tear up my masterpieces and put down my brushes and my paints': how can a stranger do that to us?

It's always very strange, I think, that even the greatest appreciator of beauty can be so blind to the beauty of the things they create; it's so very strange that a few words can undermine the thousands spoken by so many.

I'm not saying this because it's something that happened to me; I'm saying this because it is something that has happened, and because it has made me think about how it happens in general. I don't know how many people will agree with my feelings on the subject, but what I want to say is this:

Being blind to your own work does not mean that the beauty is not there. Thinking that your masterpieces are worthless because someone feels like hating them does not mean that they are hateworthy. A friend won't lie to you, where a stranger might. If you saw someone else having blatant talent put down by a single person, despite the many who told and tell them otherwise, what would you say to them? Would you tell them how blatant their talent was?

When it comes down to it, most people are blind to their own work. However, that does not mean the rest of the world is: we, they, it, are not blind to your work. We see what you don't.

Honestly - where the heck have the last two years of my life gone However, I did get a letter the other week saying that I've been accepted onto the Art Foundation Course that I went and had an interview for a while back, so my future is secured for at least another year - yay! XD

I've also finally started on getting hold of my costumes for the AmeCon this year *relieved sigh* I've finalised it down to Fai from Tsubasa Chronicle, Kira from Bleach and Hawkeye from FMA, with a really beautiful gown thrown in there for the formal ball they're holding I'm also giving serious consideration to dragging along some of my gothic stuff for incase they're planning to hold a Lolita Picnic like they did at the AyaCon last year; so it's all fine and dandy *dances*

And the week's been nothing short of interesting in getting me to earn it O-o" I still have work to do over the break, but I'll worry about that later; right now, I'm more occupied with whether or not I've caught the bug poor was cut down by yesterday and consequently whether my afternoon will be spent with my head in a bucket

At any rate, I hope everyone's doing well and that their run-up to Christmas has gone smoothly ^^
As I promised to several people, there will be some new art going up over the next few days, and I'm thinking there'll be a few more pieces done over the course of the holidays as well; along with replies to all those people who have either favourited/watched or left comments, because I've been so bad about not answering all of those Thank you to everyone who has and I promise you'll hear from me soon!

Incidentally, I went to see 'The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe' with my aforementioned twin a week ago on Saturday; for those of you who haven't seen it yet, you must, must, must book yourself a ticket and get your tushes down the local cinema! It is absolutely incredible
Aside from being possibly the most violent (and also possibly the scariest) film Disney has ever made, it is just fantastic; already partially in love with Liam Neeson, as soon as Aslan came onscreen speaking in Liam Neeson's voice I died in my seat a happy fangirl ^^ He is perfect for that part, in every way. James McAvoy as Tumnus was also squee-worthy, and Tilda Swinton as the White Witch (I've only ever seen her in 'Constantine' as Gabriel) was a really brilliant piece of casting. The special effects and the fight scenes are breathtaking, and if you don't end up wanting a pet lion by the end of the film, I'd say you were mad O-O
In short: good film. Go see. Now. Else I stab you with my Wooden Spoon of Doom *waves threateningly*

In other news, the same day ferret and I went to see it, she also brought round the first episodes of two animes she'd downloaded: 'Black Cat' and 'Pani Poni Dash'.
Black Cat is brilliant and had me instantly hungering after more episodes/fangirling Sven (who, naturally, is voiced by the lovely Keiji Fujiwara).
Pani Poni Dash is just...disturbing XD
Honeslty: any anime which features animals randomly dancing across the screen at inopportune moments, class representatives who try to poison fellow students with profiterol kebabs (well - that's what they looked like to me ) and a next-episode preview that features what appears to be a giant robotic dog (obviously a cross-over from Mai-Hime. Obviously.) with a manically-laughing (and later on, no doubt, monologging) villian standing on its back has got to have something a bit dodgy going on behind the scenes. Like the writers smoking dope or something. Obviously. *cricket chirp*...

Anyway, I think that about wraps it up, apart from to give a mention to my lovely friend Becca who, for Christmas, has fed my fangirlish obsessions in possibly the best way ever by giving me this as my present (it's the one on the right) XD XD XD *dies*

Come Wednesday, and I will be performing in the National Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London The last time I did it (right back when I first started singing in a choir) it was absolutely fantastic, so I really can't wait to do it this year - alas, I am terribly behind in my college work because of numerous all-day rehearsals (¬¬"), but what-the-hey It's all going to be worth it

Well well - what a day

The Saturday girl at work wasn't in yesterday, so I got all the jobs normally done on Sats ontop of all my usual Sunday ones This means, namely, that I now never want to see another pot in my life ever, since I had to wash up just about every darn vase in the whole florists today. Seriously, for about three hours, everytime I thought 'right, finished' I turned round and there was another dirty pot sitting there, mocking me and waiting to be washed ¬¬"
I also had to pick my way through another two trays of nice, slimey, rotting mini cyclamen because my pervert of a boss can't be bothered to water them properly and just dumps a watering-can-ful of water over them ><"
Speaking of which, when he came in today I was bent over washing the shelves as sod's law would have it - so I quickly got up and started finding re-arranging the bouquet cards very interesting, instead. Plus I had to clean his desk. With his disgustingly porny calender in full view. Uck. Seriously, what kind of a guy is a pervert and runs a florist's shop, huh?!
The storeroom arachnid charged me across the carpet again, too; methinks I got too close to his lair with the hoover...*hides*

But, despite all this, I'm actually very happy today ^^ Thanks to choir rehearsals for the Royal Albert Hall Proms *gloatgloat* and a weekend away for my mum's birthday, I now have a whole fortnight off work Yay! And no more early starts this half term, either; apart from Bournemouth with on Wednesday, so yes, it's all her fault XD

On the topic of said twin, I saw FF: Advent Children at her house on Thursday night!!! Oh my goodness, it's just incredible; I shall divulge no spoilers, but honestly: watch the damn thing. It's amazing. Plus Ookawa Toru and Keiji Fujiwara (Mustang and Hughes from FMA) play Rufus and Reno, so ladies should be prepared for an hour-and-a-half waking orgasm *madly fangirls them* Oh, and Vincent is very lovely too, I have to say
In return, I lent her Toy Story 2 (the deprived child hasn't seen it yet) and we both went out and did an 'Urban Fashion' shoot for her A2 photography project ^^ Expect to see lots more pictures of my ugly mug up on her DA account sometime soon; and lots of midrif too, I believe - the top I was wearing was, like, four inches too short for me or something

*sobres* Well, I think I said it all in my comments on my kiriban pic, really, but I'll say it again here: thanks to everyone who's been visiting, watching me, favouriting my art and bearing with me from time to time (all the time, perhaps...? ) - 1000 pageviews might not be much compared with some of the talent they have round here, but I'm amazed I've actually hit the mark *glows*

On another brief note, I now own volume 8 of Saiyuki! It's amazing how when you go for so long without reading a series (because you couldn't get hold of it *death glares at Ottokars*), you forget how much you love your bishies; but oh, Hakkai and Gojyo, how I have missed you...*sits on them*

Heh...do you ever have one of those days where you just go through it kind of numb, and then you sit down an just think 'what am I doing'? Yes -_-"

Well, it could be the 4 and 1/2 page essay that's due in for Psychology tomorrow that I have no clue how to start on, or it could be recent events (shaking off chains feels great at first, and then you start to sink again) or it could just be because it's one of those days. I seem to have been having lots of those recently...

This might sound like a strange question, but may I ask: would a person who's been lashed out at and hurt many times over by another one person who still, despite selfish and malicious behaviour, says that they love them and they want to save the friendship, be wrong to break all contact and break away? Are they wrong in being hurt by having been turned on countless times because the other person needed somewhere to vent their anger or their frustration? Are they wrong to remain upset when they reach their limit and decide: 'that's enough - I'm putting my foot down'?
I have very good friends who behind me, telling me that I am doing nothing wrong by refusing to be a verbal punchbag for moodswings and vicious streaks anymore; but it worries me that some people, because they haven't seen and been through the things I have in this situation, might come to wrong conclusion about my motives.
It's human nature not to want to be seen as uncaring and cruel, right? So why do I still feel, somewhere deep down, that I'm only somehow proving this person right by putting my foot down and saying 'I'm not lying down and taking it anymore'?
I've ranted about this to friends who have the patience to listen more times than I probably needed to: but it's fifteen years' worth of experience of a 'friendship', and six months' worth of grief to get off my chest. I don't know whether to feel like the victim who's suffered or the bitch who hid all the pet hates until she had the opportunity to suddenly spew them all out.

I want people to like me. That's the underlying line: it sounds weak-spined and pathetic, but I can't stand the thought that people might not like me. I'm not saying I'm great, or that I'm perfect: I might try to be, but I'm not - I'm just human, and I have my fair share of flaws like everyone else. But I just want to be liked, because when people don't like me or disapprove of what I've done, all I want to do is drop down on my knees infront of them and just beg for their forgiveness because I don't know what it is that I've done to upset them or how to make it better.
For those who know me, I'm generally a fairly docile, easy-going and quietly confident person; but it's difficult to fight back a huge insecurity when you have it. There are people who are lucky enough to be self-assured without being arrogant and without being conceited, and I admire them greatly, but in some situations, when it gets down to it, I am just one big, curled-up ball of insecurity. One of those situations is being liked.

So...am I wrong? I guess I'm not really looking for an answer from someone else - it's more asking myself that. But am I wrong? When you're hurting someone, but you don't know whether they're really truly hurt underneath it all because they didn't realise just how badly they were making you hurt, or whether they're just playing it up for the attention - because sometimes, people have a long history of both - it's hard to decide.

I hope I'm right. I want to cry until I know for sure, though.

I just bought myself a Wacom Graphire4 tablet with Corel Painter Essentials 2!!! Squee!!! I will actually be able to colour things on the computer, now! No more WH Smiths colouring pencils XD



Well, other than that, nothing else much to report Except...Tablet! I'm getting a tablet! Squee!!!
