First off, these people are ignorant. The Nazi Party targeted the Jewish race as part of a political and idealogical campaign. Israel is attacking Hamas out of either defence or offence, depending on your viewpoint. I don't claim to know who threw the first stone, and I don't condone war in any shape or form, but I do understand the justification for the attacks. Like everyone else, I'm heartbroken by the images coming out of Gaza right now. But I also know that I'm not there. I'm not part of that war, and so I can't force my opinions of it on others. I can observe and I can offer my insights...but not my judgement. That was a bit of a tangent, but this is from the heart, so bear with me.

Second, Deviantart is a community designed for us to all share in our artistic exploits, not a platform for our idealogies or propaganda. It's inappropriate at the best of times to be saying the things that some of these people are saying. Take a note from Thumper's mom, people...If you don't got nothin' nice to say, don't say nothin' at all.

Third, don't support these people in spewing hate, and don't enable them by stoking their "righteous" fires. What that means, is that if you see someone post something that you're not comfortable with, take a deep breath, count to ten, and form a polite but stern response to their childish and inane statement. I'm not saying don't post your comments...but if you can't communicate in a civil manner, then you're no better than they are. Express you viewpoint. Give them a chance to respond. And if they respond with more hate, then report them to the administration. That's the way it works.

And lastly, for those of you that will come back at me for what I'm preaching, telling me to keep my nose out of business that doesn't concern me, take a look at my profile. Read my last name. Do a little research. I'm Jewish by decent. I'm Christian by choice. And it's my business because of who I am. My great grandparents came from Europe, and my ancestors before that from the Mediterranean and Israel. It's my business because when you invoke the Swastika like that, you give it power that it doesn't deserve, and you trivialize what it represents to those that lived with it.

Tolerance would have solved this whole mess to begin with...so rather than lobbing hate bombs toward one another, and rather than getting involved in matters we don't fully understand, why don't we all sit down, take a moment and think about what's really at stake. Humanity. And the key to being humane is in being tolerant. If you can't start there, then maybe you do deserve to be treated like an animal.

Just wanted to get on and say sumfin' as I haven't written one since April.

Anywhoodles, I started doing my sketch a day works there in April or May(?) and it seemed to be going pretty well...then I fell off the wagon and got a little busy with other stuff. Hopefully I'll get back to it, as I managed to get some pretty decent traffic when I was producing something every day.

With that in mind, I'm going to put up a contest here, that whoever sends me the screencap of my 1500th hit will get a free commission! Isn't that saweet?!? I think so.

So just note me when you get the screencap and we'll figure it out from there.

Today is my last day of work here at my full-time graphic design gig, which makes Monday my FIRST day of full-time freelancing!

What that means for the folks on Devart is that they can look forward to me starting up a daily sketch. So if you have any requests, then let 'em fly and I'll put them on a little piece of paper and into the bucket of daily sketch materials.

Look forward to A LOT more art from me in the future.
