I've been hearing whisperings that BMF - Brisbane Medieval Fayre - is back on this year and now, thanks to Sam, i can give you a date: 20-21st September at Musgrave Park in South Bank (just like old times).

On saturday i had a great (if rather wet and muddy) day at Fort Lytton, then got to catch up with some people i haven't seen in a very long time in the evening.
On Sunday i slept a little, and Miss Avie woke up.
On Monday I found nine, yes nine four-leaf clovers and had afternoon tea with Max, who'd bought me a DVD from Japan.
Then Today I went shopping, which i really do enjoy, had coffee with a guy called David who wants to take me on as his regular model, which is awesome, then I chatted for about a half-hour with my best friend from high-school. I'm just so comfortable when i'm talking with Stace, i feel i can say anything and not be judged, is wonderful.
And now... i'm going to make dinner 'cause i'm really hungry!

After that guy (read earlier journal entries) tryed to scam me i've had 2 emails from reptile owners offering their males for Avie's pleasure and, after deciding on Lazurus (spelling?) a gorgeous red males we brought him home on saturday.
the intial meeting was pretty awsome to watch, if not promising - they fought - but today they mated!

But why "I've trained her well" is because little Avs only seemed to get in the mood when Nine Inch Nails started playing out of my computer. my little heavy metal baby.


So that means that (hopefully - fingers cross) in four months i'll have little Avie/Laz's running around everywhere! and she hopefully won't lay now until I'm back from Canberra (I'm leaving on Sunday, will be away for two weeks).

So excited and so happy (and a little er, dirty is probably the best word, as they did start the whole thing on my lap...) and worried, as now Lazurus is displaying at me... hmm, maybe he should go back down stairs....

2. You discover that the animals you are looking to purchase are actually in a differant country and, being animals native to THIS country, it would therefore be illegal to ship them back here

3. The pictures they send you of the "adult pairs" are of babies no more than 6 months old

4. The email you get from the so called shipping company is very unprofesional and writen with the same style and mannerisms as the guy you have been emailing in the first place

5. The shipping company doesn't exist

6. The 'shipping company' is using a "graffitti.net" email account (that's like hotmail)

7. Neither the 'shipping company' nor the guy you've been emailing seems the least be concerned that the animals are going to be seriously stressed out and traveling on planes for 4 days to reach you and probably would die on the way over

8. The guy is in Cameroon and yet not in the Cameroon phonebook

9. The guy's phone number doesn't exist

10. (and this is what originally got me concerned) the first email you get from them is an attachment of pretty coloured font

11. (and the cherry on the cake) In the first email back to him you ask what shipping company in australia he's going to use. He doesn't respond with that information so you ask again, and offer a company name. In the next email he tells you it's the company you suggested

12. (and the whipped cream topping) He just happened to have been in Brisbane last week visiting a friend who he gave some of the other animals to (yeah, another reason i was sceptical, you don't just give away $600 lizards at the cost of shipping - $180)

Now I'm pissed. 'cause if he'd been for real (and/or legal) I'd have a gorgeous boy lizard to satisfy my horny Avarice.

Firstly, I would probably use up all my credit replying to people asking what's wrong with Kim (my eldest brother), so since a good number of you read this, here's your answer...

At 2:30 on Tueday morning Kim rang me and got me to wake Mum as he was suffering from acute abdominal pain (so acute that he could hardly move) and needed someone to drive him to the hosital.
when mum got back and before she went to work she told me that he'd been diagnosed with Appendicitis and would have to have an operation to have his appendix removed. If anyone knows anything about Appendicitis they'll know that is the appendix isn't removed it can sometimes rupture causing all kinds of issues.

Anyway, he had the operation yesterday after spending all of tuesday and most of wednesday dosed up on morphene, throwing up and feeling like total shit, and should be discharged today. His girlfriend is under strick instructions to mother him and look after him.

So that's why i've been so worried about Ki the last few days.

Lizards
Well I'm back up to the magic number of 15 lizards (and 16 reptiles) with the newest addition to my scaly family, Min, a female Eastern Beared Dragon from Minden who was hit in the face by a mower blade.
She's bigger that Avie (if you can believe) it and such a gorgeous creature.
She's lost of of her eyes and fractured her jaw but my vet reckons she'll make a full recovery

Avie is madly on heat, so if anyone in Brisbane has a male Central Bearded Dragon they want mated please let me know! I'll split the babies with you, or the profits of sellign the babies, whatever, i just want my girl to stop picking on my Eastern Beardie males!

Canberra
Yeah, I'm going to Canberra on the 7th and will be there for 2 weeks. I'll be staying with my god-parents (just minus the god part, we're all either anthiest or spiritual) and working in my god-mother's vet surgery.
Teh last weekend i'm there is also the weekend of a show that my god-father's re-enactment group is doing a show, so I'm making a regency gown to wear to it and boy are they easier than 14C gowns - once you work out the pattern, which is sooo confusing.

Well, at said ungodly hours to be up on a saturday morning the door bell rings and i stagger up and open the door to find a fresh-faced ambulance officer (backed up by two ambulances in the driveway) asking me "Are they inside?"
I had no idea as to what he was on about and figured he must have the wrong house, managed a "What?" in the sleepiest of tones before he appologised and went back to his car - most likely to check the address.

Thinking the matter settled i went back to bed, but five minutes later the bell rings again and it's the same guy, this time he informs me that "Someone has fallen out of the tree in your backyard and we need a key for the side gate." I would have given him another "What?" but instead scurried off to get the key for the side gate, and, in doing so, was able to see with my own eyes the guy who had fallen out of our mango tree and the ambulance officer already there.

It certainly is a worry to think that there are people climbing our mango tree at odd hours of the night - especially when they go falling out of them (and that there are crows roosting around my lizard cages).

So there's my dose of excitement for the day. so nice when it comes so early in the morning.

today i quit uni - or at least i recieved the confirmation email to cancel my enrolement (now i just have to tell my mum..)

Today i decided that Anne needs to be put down. she just can't eat properly and is never going to be able to eat by herself, it'd be cruel to keep her alive.

Today Nikki at the vet clinic told me the bad news about Pumpkin, seems the infection had gotten into the bone. Clayton's given me some antibiotics to keep him going for a while but he may have a few months left, maybe even a year, but no more than that. it sucks.

It think i'm going to have to get him tattooed on me somewhere, or scarified. Certainly he's going to be cremated and kept with his mother.

I'm glad i have a cure shirt and a lovely big lizard giving me a hug...

I have a lecture in 5 hours (it's 3am) and i've just spent the last 5 or 6 hours writing a DnD adventure inspired by and based on an AFI song and the corresponding video clip...

I'm sorry Alex... I don't think I'm going to make the lecture tomorrow and then have to go to work in the evening without a small part of me dying (namely my sanity).



... oh yeah, i'm working... sporatically, but that's better than not at all.

I serve drinks at Circle gallery when they have a fuction. I was offered a job with greenpeace but as much as i care for them and donate to them (even when i have no money /cries), i can't see myself standing on a corner in all my Goth-gear convincing people that they should do what i'm going only getting money off people, rather than get people.


umm... my tat got finished... my dad has the only photos though so i'll have to wait until he gets his film back...

umm..I've been sick for about a fortnight now and have been reading the War of The Spider Queen Books and really enjoying them.
Oh, players in my game, prepare for TPK, that adventure i mentioned is a nasty one am i'm in a 'kill eveyone' kind of mood.

yesterday i wrote a short story - well by short i mean 27 pages of a regular exercise book long, down from the usual 3 or 4 whole exercise books long.
it's duelly based off a vampire the Masquerade character i made several years ago and may about to be resurrected to play in another game - i just don't get that excited by Vampire and so am not so pashionate in my character creations for it - and by a dream i have the night before (most of the inspiration for my stories in the past has come from dreams). But i'm really happy with it, started writing it at about 2pm or so and didn't stop (except to heat up some left overs for my dinner) until 3am. didn't once have ot stop to think about what work to use or how to get from one part to another, is so great to be back in the writing mind-set again.
this will hopefully mean that i'll be writing a lot of the holidays.

I guess all i can say about pirates is that i'll be having another charity pirate party in septmeber for Childhood Cancer Support - hopefully this one won't hapen to fall on the last day of term though and my teacher friends will be able to come...

Avie has decided to hybernate in my bag which, while being very cute has been a little annoying - especially since she was a asleep on my mobile (so sorry sam, i only managed to get my phone out from under her this evening 'cause she shifted while the sun was shining on her face - she is such a spoilt princess).

Naunet gave me a wee scare when she stared bleeding and oozing white cheesy semi-liquids from her foot today, but on closer inspection i have concluded that this is a good this as it is relieving the pressure in her poor little infected toe (who ever said rainforest dragons were hard to keep obvious had never kept a spooted tree monitor), of course my little lady didn't see anything that happened today (except getting fed) as being good and has given me a really good bite - so if anyone sees blood on my back steps don't worry, it's just mine.
I shouldn't complain too much though as i have been told that thus far i have been very lucky about her bites as she's actually let go...

the bubs are eating like there's no tomorrow while the frillies and Sas have been hybernating and the brats have been slowing down a bit and not eating quite so much.
Anne is doing really well and looking brighter just about everyday, i've even gotten her onto some solids and she is just loving having her own hot rock.
I visited Snake on the weekend and her head's gotten bigger and she's gotten fatter (she's eating weiner rats now), so much so that she can't fit in her log anymore.


With regards to other aspects of my life (though my animals are pretty much paramount in my thoughts and concern, always), Fort Lytton is This Weekend! that snuck up on me so fast - especially since although i live with the vice president of KEG i still hear almost nothing about what is going on unless i go to training on Sunday and that just isn't a workable option most weeks.

Also, Matt has moved out and within about 3 hours of him being gone his room has been clensed and turned into a sewing and medieval gear room, so yay as paul said "Ding-dong the witch is dead"

I'm also having a right ball DMing for my friends on saturday nights, have already mapped out long term plans for some characters and am looking foreward to the next few game sessions. obviously with my brother, sam, nikky and david all on dA i can't really say much more though...

as you can see my creativity is back and i'm drawing a lot. i'm also doing a request piece for a friend (well, more like several request pieces). It's all turning out well but it's proving to be a fantastic distraction from my assignments...

The Nine Inch Nails concert was brilliant. rained almost the entire set and really bugged my feet and legs standing on a sloping and uneven surface in heels. and dancing, dancing aways wrecks my knees. And getting stepped on my some dick who in between every song would make pirate noises with his friends - good thing they were only standing near me for the last 2 or 3 songs.

Rumours that The Cure are coming to Australia have got me and many of my friends very excited and it's quickly turining into a concert-filled year (NIN, The Cure and The Whitlams, plus seeing Marlinchen's last performance before they broke up).

The comparative quiet and ease of the household was broken last night when Matt, despite being told not to download anything large (having already used up our on-peak limit in 9 days) was found to be downloading entire series of Oz. I so hope he moves out soon.

In animal news, anne has proved that she is not blind - therefore she is not being put down, Pumpkin's abses has almost completey healled, Avie has discovered that she loves comeing with us to the markets saturday mornings, Snake has gone to live with Kim, Turtle has gone to live with Lauchlan and Georgie is being put down on Monday, which means i'll probably be buying a friend for Zenza on the weekend.

Anyway, i should get to uni at some point (already skipped a lecture and a tute...)

but yeah, over the last couple of days i've been typing up a lot of stuff and 8119 worlds later i have all of the specifics of the 14 sub-races + 3 half-blood-sub-races of Elf found in my world spell-checked and edited. (am not a very fast typist so it took quite a while believe me - not helped by Avie's sudden idea that my keyboard makes THE most comfortable bed ever).

Am also quite happy to say that I now have 8987 words worth of my world's history typed and edited too, (but i'm not even into the second age! and my book is set at the start of the fifth!). And while i'm being very silly and writing all of the fun part of my novel first (ie. the parts where i put my main character through hell), it is coming along nicely and I've managed to fill in several gaps that i have been worrying over how to fill for a while now.

It's actaully quite intesting to see how i've altered the shorty and characters as i've gone along, i mean, it's still the same plot line, but by using differant language or settings one can change the whole mood of the story.
Linkchvary has become nastier since i started, as has Irasia while Jellech, Krofistarn and Fellin have become nicer.
Tom has more depth and more of an explanation, Ravonhart's had a sex change and been given a larger part. I've added a new character and Lyre (whose name was has been Leo, Lawrence, Leaf and even Lynk - though lets not speak of those days) is starting to take shape as a strong character on his own rather than living in Link's shaddow all of the time.

Oh, and i finally have a title! am so pleased with myself, just made it up on the spot the other day but it fits perfectly!

I've also (already) begun planning the story line for the sequel and have to stop myself from writing too much for it before the first book is more finished.


in other, non-writing news, my insomia is back with avengeance. (yay)

KEG is finally getting it's act back together and our first training session of the season is next weekend. Am looking forward to geting back into it, especially with Nelle as the new secretary.

Anyway, even if i'm not going to sleep i may as well go and stretch my back out before i reallt starts hurting.

actually have been out more in the last few weeks than i have in the last year, believe it or not.
have been dragged out to two movies (purfume and pan's labyrinth), a couple of music gigs, dinner twice, and even faith.

faith these days makes me both giggle and cry at the same time though. it's hillerious to watch little baby-bats try and dance to songs that demand large amounts of enthusiasm, but it's traumatising to see people in thongs (the kind you wear on your feet) or denim hot-pants and fish-nets in a goth club. and their smoke machine is a monster, i think it's trying to make up for the fact that you can't smoke in clubs anymore.

(is proving very difficult typing with only one hand - thanks for falling asleep on the other avie)

have been trying to write alot lately too, being duelly inspired by a very gruesome novel i just read and by the monster in pan's labyrith. so my main charater has just become i little meaner than before and my little demon orman finally has a face that i like.


any way, it's almost 4 in the morning and although the amount of caffine i have consumed keeps me from feeling tired, i just know i'm going to crash in a moment.

my reptile total now stands at 14 with the edition of Myrtle/Titch/Nesie/Tuddle/Turtle (there will be photos soon) a river turtle of some description - a friend who has kept him for 10 years is moving and needed a home for him, he just picked him and his siblings up in a river that was a about to be filled so doesn't know what exactly he is.

I wrote alot while away and finally bowed to peer pressure and began reading "The War of The Spider Queen" series, is SO good!


Have not yet got my flims developed from the trip and can't be arsed going through all the digital pix my mum took.

Dragon waits for virgin birth

Flora, a pregnant komodo dragon living in a UK zoo, is expecting eight babies in what scientists say could be a Christmas virgin birth.

Flora has never mated, or even mixed, with a male dragon, and fertilised all the eggs herself, a process culminating in parthenogenesis, or virgin birth.

"Nobody in their wildest dreams expected this. But you have a female dragon on her own. She produces a clutch of eggs and those eggs turn out to be fertile. It is nature finding a way," says Kevin Buley of Chester Zoo.

He says the incubating eggs could hatch around Christmas.

Parthenogenesis has occurred in other lizard species, but Buley and his team says this is the first time it has been shown in komodo dragons, the world's largest lizards.

Scientists at the University of Liverpool discovered Flora had had no male help after doing genetic tests on three eggs that collapsed after being put in an incubator.

The tests on the embryos and on Flora, her sister and other dragons confirmed that komodo dragons can reproduce through self-fertilisation.

"Those genetic tests confirmed absolutely that Flora was both the mother and the father of the embryos. It completely blew us away because it [parthenogenesis] has never been seen in such a large species," Buley says.

A komodo dragon at London Zoo gave birth earlier this year after being separated from males for more than two years.

Scientists thought she had been able to store sperm from her earlier encounter with a male.

But after hearing about Flora's eggs, researchers conducted tests that showed her eggs were also produced without male help.

"You have two institutions within a few short months of each other having a previously unheard of event. It is really quite unprecedented," says Buley.

The scientists, reporting the discovery today in the journal Nature, say it could help them understand how reptiles colonise new areas.

A female dragon could, for instance, swim to another island and establish a new colony on her own.

"The genetics of self-fertilisation in lizards means that all her hatchlings would have to be male. These would grow up to mate with their own mother and therefore, within one generation, there would potentially be a population able to reproduce normally on the new island," Buley says.

In addition to the small zoo i maintain I have been working and earning lots of moola to be used on a tattoo, a corset and unforseen expenses in the coming year.

Also, mum and i have spent the last four days (left thursday morning returned sunday afternoon) unwinding on our little holiday to Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays. We went scuba-diving on the great barrier reef, swam with a fish almost as big as me, got close enough to salt water crocodiles for one to splash me with mud and found the best restraunt ever! (pity it's a 1 1/2 hour flight from brisbane...).

The holiday doesn't end there though, as on saturday me, my mum and all of my brothers are fliying to Adelaide for a week and then to my Aunt's farm in WA for an other 2 weeks (or so).
My aunt just bought a staffy pup for my grandad, am very much looking forward to seeing! From the photo she sent us it looks so cute! ^^

Two weeks after i get back i'm getting my second tat am very much looking forward to it! (though perhaps not the 4+ hour session it is going to take).

I got a job (woot!) then quit my job - cause i couldn't handel 8 hour shifts while looking after my mum, who is just out of hospital, and all of my lizards. (not so woot), then my boss offered to cut my hours in half to keep me working there and i accepted (woot!)
So now I'm working at Bakers Delight in the city most week days and earning more money than my eldest brother (and he has to pay rent!).

My number of reptiles increased from seven to eleven (hehe, 7eleven - i'm too tired to be sensible), with my finding Belle [link] an injured Eastern Bearded Dragon, who is now about ready to be released, and my purchasing three bubbie Central Bearded Dragon (yet to be named) [link] [link] from Twin Gums Reptiles [link]

Dad has promised that unless Matt gets his act together pretty quick and starts looking after his rat (Grbl - though I call him Earl Grey, don't ask why...) he's going to give him an order from DPI ordering him to do so else the animal/s will be seized.

Where we left role-playing off last time my little Link was hiding in some corner geting very drunk, crying and breaking things, poor little guy.

So that's about it. I don't much feel like taking photos, can't find a referance for a drawing i want to do and am too tired to do anything terribly exciting...

Alright, this has been my week…

Sunday
firstly I would like to say that I am a staunch believer in Sunday being the end not the beginning of the week, but this is when things started to go bad…

Fell down the steps while carrying Avarice. She didn’t even notice (managed to keep her held up high in the air) but it took all the skin off my knee, and grazed my left foot and other hand, not to mention making my ankles feel unhappy…


Monday
Turned up for work (yes, for the last three weeks I’ve been on work for the dole at an Op-shop) only to discover that everyone except me had been told that I wasn’t working there any more. But since I was there and willing and hadn’t heard anything, I worked anyway. Even worked late, didn’t get home until 5pm.

Tuesday
Rang Centrelink to try and find out why I had been told I wasn’t working there anymore. The first person I spoke to said that there didn’t seem to be anything that would suggest why. I was still on payments and still on WFTD at Salvos.
So (I deal with three companies, Centrelink, who referred me to Sarria Russo, who then referred me to Cadet) I rang Cadet, just to see if they had a different story – if the last 6 years of being on benefits have taught me anything, it’s that Centrelink are incompetent), they told me that they had been notified by SR, who had been notified by Centrelink, that my guardian’s income had gone up and I had been taken off payment – as I am still living with and dependant on her.
So I rang Centrelink again, and within less than 10 minutes they had changed their story completely to fit with that of Cadet’s. Brilliant. So now I have no income what so ever….

Wednesday
Looking up.
I ring up my old boss from the OP-shop and ask if I can volunteer (It doesn’t pay, but it’s fun and give me work ex. – and there is the 50% staff discount!), that was all cool.

Went out in the evening with my cousin Liz and her boy Lauchlan, had a great time – apart from the bratty year 9s at the bus stop who seemed intent on destroying everything in and around the bus shelter, including the bus shelter it’s self - . We went to Batavia in South Bank and drank iced tea and then to The Forest in Westend for a nice vegan feed (none of us are vegans but Liz is lactose intolerant, we’re all vegetarians and it’s SUCH good food!).
Saw Elise while passing through town too. She’s doing psychology.

While walking around Westend I tore a muscle in my foot (right one this time) and had to limp through Westend and Newfarm bare-food, in the dark. Thankfully I missed all the broken glass!


Thursday
Worked. Bought a new copy of The Labyrinth and I pair of the tackiest earrings for $3 (love that staff discount). Got home too tired to think, but still managed to help with dinner and organising role-playing.

Golf balls have been turning up in our front and side yard for a few weeks now (suspected either Matt’s friends were finding them or the golf excellence boys were dumping them in our yard). On Thursday though one went through Mum’s window, putting broken glass everywhere.
Mum said she’d ring the school from work on Friday.


Friday
Was woken this morning by the golf teacher from across the road ringing the bell. Had a chat to him about what had happened, pointed out the window and gave him the golf balls that I could find. Also cut open my toe (left foot again) on broken glass on the steps, strange, I had thought, as mum’s window was quite a distance from the stairs.
After waking up properly I found the golf balls that had appeared at the same time as the hole in the window and so took them over the school. Visited Kay and Chris while I was there and gave Avarice a bit of an outing.

Washed my hair (again Avarice leaded into the shower and insisted on standing under it too (she can always put a smile on my face). But then of course when I turned the water off and took her out of there she scratched my hand to pieces.

When mum got home we realised that in fact, the reason why there was glass (and there is now blood) on the front steps is because not one but tow of our windows now sport lovely golf-ball-sized holes.
Nice one Kelvin Grove, real nice.
Hopefully the school will be able to find who is responsible and their parents will be nice enough to foot the bill of two smashed windows…

Now I am torn and in greater pain that I ever thought imaginable as thoughts and gnawing suspicions that I have repressed and sought to forget begin to surface in my mind.

I am so close to him now that if I had an eye-piece and he were to stand at a window, then I might glimpse him and the thought of seeing him brings joy and my heart, but then my heart remembers what still lies between us and I am dismayed, for it seems now impossible to beach the tower without fear of his death or certainly of ours.
Now I wish for the councils of my half-brother who has seen many wars and fought in most and I would stay in Evermeet and study magic as he wishes and never raise my voice at him again if he were only here and able to advise me.
The others look to me for guidance and for leadership, even call this party mine, but how am I to lead them when I cannot even lead myself? What if I were lead then astray, if some were to die – Aeron and Leahcim have both already died this days and were only brought back by divine intervention – they’re deaths lie on my shoulders.

My thoughts are all astray and some of the suspicions of my companions that I had dismissed entirely I begin now to question. What if this was his choice and he is happy? What if he no longer loves me? What if my coming all this way means nothing to him? What if the White Banshee has turned him into one of her hideous undead minions and I will be forced to end his suffering? Would I be able to? What if he truly loves Xuthra more than me? But what if he is in pain? Is every second I spend in indecision an eternity of torture for him? Does he know I am here?

I have said next to naught all this day and what I have sad has rarely been above a whisper and more than just a few syllables long, but I feel as though I most scream before I explode! The whole world seems to close in on me and I feel I may soon have to chose between leaping off a cliff into the unknown or turning to make a stand against the wolves who have driven me to it’s very edge, and I must take all who are around me now with me.

I need time to gather my thoughts, to pick up the pieces of my mind that I have lost along the road and to make the decision, because Kro is not coming to help me and I doubt the Gods will again.

I doubt that I will sleep this night…

Placebo were as awesome as ever was the most active mosh-pit i've seen at a Placebo concert, so am kind of glad i wasn't in it (even saw some girl get rescued by security).

Next Monday is Placebo! Woot! Am so looking foreward to it! Just saw them perform on Rove tonight and got the biggest fright when Brain came on stage without any hair!!! What happened to the beautifully androgenous Brian from Teenaged Agnst days? Now he just looks like a skin-headed-lesbian... i guess at least he still has the voice, if not the look...

Next Sunday is Pirate Picnic in the park with PMS (Pirates of the Morning Star) for CCS (Childhood Cancer Support) and then the Weekend after that is Talk Like a Pirate Day and the night of my party, so lots of pirates in September...

there is also a family dinner in the somewhere, and another Photo-club meet-up, a photoshoot with Sam, a needed catch-up with Liz and lots of pestering of Ki and Dad to get my lizard houses built.

In other news the CCS charity butterfly ball on the weekend was a fantastic success both for the charity and for my family, with mum winning a trip for two to the Witsundays and me winning an orchid.
My dad has now the set up to develop negetives (negetives, not prints, still no darkroom) and a very nice scanner that can scan negs onto the computer, so i have successfully managed to convert him back to film

And yeah, that's about it. I still have no ideas for photography (only the occassional spontainous idea), haven't been drawing much and, although i am writing alot in my head, i can't get much down on paper.

It seemed to the boy that all of the colour felling had been drained from the world, leaving it grey and lifeless. Standing up he found that he was naked and where this body had touched the earth his skin was now black with a sticky ash.
Slowly he rose and gazed about himself at ugly dry hills and bleak grey skies. All was jagged and sharp and, as he shuffled out of the relative shelter of an over hanging rock, he cut his foot on a stone. It bled, but the blood was black and it did not flow as if a heart pumped it simply oozed sluggishly out on to the grey stone. And the pain was dull, 'muffled' he thought to himself.
Gradually the boy made his way across the great grey ledge where he had come to. Right to the edge limped and gazed over it at the barren countryside, hoping to get some bearing of his position. But all seemed to blur before his eyes, as if it were very hot, and he could barely make out his own feet clearly. Beyond the mist though, and drawing his eye there were lines, great black lines in the ashen sky that seemed to go up forever and to descend down into the mist, like great black bars to some gigantic cage. They drew his feet too and almost without realising it he began to scramble down in to the valley towards them.

It was an eerie place, cold and great and deadly silent. That was the worst for the boy as he stumbled about the grey hills and valleys; the silence seemed to press around him and even the smallest sounds that he made were like an echoing cacophony. It made him jumpy, frayed at his nerves, so when his movements caused small rock slide it sounded as though an army were marching through the valley and, giving out a short sheik of fear he panicked and ran, like some hunted creature.
Eventually a sharp stone halted him and tripping he badly grazed his knees and elbows. There he lay shaking and sobbing dry tears and waiting for some kind of night or day to come to that terrible place, but all was grey and cold and shifting and deadly silent."

I'm terrible, i haven't even finished the first novel and i'm already starting on the sequel...


In news, i've been writing a lot (as you can see) and just finished reading "The Other Wind" by Ursula le Guin, the fifth in the Earthsea saga. All of my reptiles are now out of hybernation and i just saw the movie "Deadman" with Johnny Depp, is a very good film.
My mum's just back from Adelaide after attending the funeral of my Great Aunt Val (who mum was named after), my insomnia won't go away and me and Sammy are going to the Ekka tomorrow to get him some ratlings of his own.

On Thursday night my cousin invited me out to the gallery opening of our friend Hosé’s photo exhibition at Metro arts in the city. We didn’t stick around for long got WAY too crowded so went back to Newfarm and I bought her dinner. Was really nice to have a relaxing evening with Liz, don’t get to see her nearly as much as I should.
Then on Friday Dad and I went out to the city to look at macbooks (they’re so pretty), looks like I’ll be getting one soon. And I got a case to protect my little Edmund from scratches (Edmund is my ipod). Then we wandered over the Newfarm and had dinner with Liz at a Spanish restaurant. They hardly had any vegetarian meals, but those they had were great!

Saturday afternoon the hot water system broke and made a little flood under the house, we didn’t have hot water until early Monday morning as the owner had to buy us a new system and it took so long to heat up. I almost rang up Liz or Dad and asked if I could have a shower at one of their houses (hadn’t showered since Thursday evening, meant to on Friday but go home sooo late that I decided to when I woke up…) So I just pretended that I was at a medieval show.

Animals
On Saturday mum and I saw some really nice terrarium set-ups for reptiles and I had a talk with my eldest brother Ki (Kim) about getting some new cages made. Need something better for the frillies, and for the brat boys, and I need some made for the new Central Beardies I want to get this spring. Need to get some UV lights set up inside the new houses too. And when Matt moves out at the end of the year, I can put lizards in his room!

Fed both snakes on Saturday night, Sassy did a real horror movie move on the mouse, striking suddenly from under the paper and dragging it under never to be seen again. She hasn’t bitten since she got back, but there’s plenty of time for that.
Snake is growing, even I’m noticing. Her head is getting really big and she’s looking so good! All muscle and shine and so good-natured! I’m gonna miss her when Ki finally gets around to getting his licence and taking her…

The ratlings both have mites and Zen has been scratching herself silly, even losing fur and hurting herself. We took them to the vet on Monday night (our old nice vet, Paul) and he gave us some oral medication to treat them. He also gave George an injection in hope that it will stop her wheezing and took her off the antibiotics the other vet had given us (George is very happy about that).

RPGs, art and writing
Have been drawing quite a bit (no colouring unfortunately) a lot of my little Link and several of other characters in my novel (one day I need to think of a title…). Have been writing HEAPS, have settled on both a beginning and ending that I like and have been writing up a timeline to help me gather my thoughts. Poor little Link, he won’t like the ending I’ve given him
In role-playing we didn’t do much, pretty much wasted eight days travel going down the wrong passage and pissing Link off no end, but he got to kill some stuff. Namely a bunch of Naga, some mind flayers and some driders. Aeron and Leakhim both managed to level up, Aeron got mind controlled into thinking it was bed time and rolling out his bedroll in the middle of a fight, Vestel kicked arse, Khaless and Belarki did their trade-mark moves, and Link was poisoned. All in all an uneventful but fun game, and nothing too important that missed.

Change of plans... I have just recieved word that KEG is not going to BMF this year (sad, but a lot easier for me as i had plans for the saturday night). I still encourage you all to go, just don't expect KEG to be there (a few of our members will be with Citadel like at Abbey). I'll be there, and in costume, but most likely only on Sunday with my brother Kim and as public.

And am so that *kln1671 has and wish to thank her.

So (quite obviously) my first featured artist is who is in the process of sketching a picture of my OC Linkchvary Hellion (see above links), she has completed a draft sketch which can be found here [link]

I first noticed this deviant thanks to this [link] picture of hers done for one of the artist I watch, but I am in now love with the way she draws eyes (They always look so alive!) and admire her character posing abilities.
I must admit that I’ve never stopped to read any of her posted literature (have a very short attention span when on the computer) but I encourage you to have a wander around her gallery and have a read.
